    Ceremony wedding dress
    Charlene D.

Marcela is fabulous and so detailed! I'm a September 2025 bride. I needed TWO bridal gown alterations. I looked up Marcela on yelp and seen her reviews. I called to make an appointment and she had an opening the same day. Mind it was mid- July 2025. Marcela said she could get my dresses done 2 weeks before by my wedding day. I was beyond grateful. It takes a lot of time for alterations and the amount of trust I had to put into someone new was a little overwhelming. Marcela kept her word and finished both TWO bridal dresses (one for ceremony and one for reception) two weeks before my wedding day. Marcela thank you so much! If there are any alterations needed especially for big events like a wedding :) Marcela is your lady to trust.

    seam job on a dress

My experience with Marcela's business was beyond disappointing. I brought my maid of honor dress in early april for altering of the waist only. My first appointment, there were no notes taken on my alterations and my consultation lasted roughly five minutes. I am not well versed in tailoring, but looking back I felt rushed and unconsidered. Coming in for my fitting, she did not greet me or my mom, and neither her nor her assistant really spoke with us. The entire interaction felt cold and awkward. Additionally, she had another client there while I was trying on my dress, which wasn't communicated prior. When I tried on my dress on, the seams on the sides of the dress were uneven and bunched, and she tried explaining it was supposed to look that way, when the dress did not look like that before at all. When I pointed out that the seams on the sides were strange, she said she had not taken in the waist, which was the only thing I had asked for. There were also parts of the seams that were loose so there were loose threads sticking out that weren't there previously. In the front torso area there is also a permanent flap that rests along the ribs. The sleeves, which I did not ask for alterations on, were taken in so crudely that the fabric bunches. I provided a picture of that because it was genuinely shocking to see. They adding a clasp to the dress which I had never asked for. After getting a multiple opinions on the dress from other tailors, I was told that even with alterations only the sleeves could be fixed, and the problems she created in the torso and seams would only look more pronounced. I will say she did sincerely apologize after I explained my dissatisfaction with the service, and reimbursed me for the both the service and value of the dress. However, when discussing this, she disclosed personal information about her assistant who she blamed for the condition of the dress, which I felt was inappropriate and unprofessional. Ultimately she oversaw this project, and should have checked her assistant's work before just giving it to a client in that state. Despite the reimbursement, I felt overall that my dress did not matter and the emotional damage she has caused is beyond repair, as I am less than two weeks away from my sister's wedding. I would have much preferred transparency, even if that meant being told the service was not doable, as I do understand it's wedding season and they are a predominately bridal store, so I imagine they must be very busy. But instead of receiving that consideration and care I received a butchered dress that I absolutely loved and adored before I brought it to her business. Based on my experience, I would not recommend anyone go here, even for bridal needs.

    Dress

I found a dress online for my Prom themed birthday party and it had a "no return" policy. So I showed a picture of it to Marcela and she said she could make it for me at a reasonable price. And we began our fun journey of making my dream dress! Marcela is very kind, talented and professional and together we created a dress that was perfect for my event. I would definitely work with her again.

Marcela was a friend instantly. Her expertise in detail is truly amazing! She made my wedding dress come to life, It was 3 sizes too big. Thank you Marcela for taking the time, care and love into my wedding dress. I will absolutely be coming back for all my alternations.

We need men's suit pants altered. She did a great job with a quick turnaround. We had 2 days before a funeral and she had it done in time.

We flew in from New York, and planning from across the country could have been stressful -- but May made everything feel effortless. She was so organized and responsive, and during our consultation she completely understood my vision of feeling like a princess with a gown and veil that would flow beautifully down the staircase while still flattering my petite frame. The second dress she pulled was the one, and I instantly felt stunning. Highly recommend also reserving San Francisco City Hall for two hours on a Saturday if you can to avoid the crowds and everyone else also taking pictures in the prime locations. At Romance's City Hall package covered absolutely everything: dress, veil, tiara, professional makeup, and two photographers -- all at an incredible price. Not having to coordinate multiple vendors was such a relief. The photographers reached out ahead of time to go over details and on the day of made us feel completely comfortable, guiding us through poses and capturing breathtaking shots on the grand staircase. From start to finish, the experience was seamless, romantic, and unforgettable. I would 100% recommend At Romance to anyone wanting a true one-stop shop and a dream City Hall wedding experience.

I ended up being charged more than the quoted amount and had to bring my dress back a few times because she missed some basic things. I don't think the person whos doing alterations there is still there so perhaps this review is quickly outdated, but I would say there's definitely not the kind of attention to detail I would have appreciated being at this price point and for this kind of thing where attention to detail for wedding dresses is so important. First of all, PLEASE make an appointment with them. They have a small staff, and are quite busy accommodating brides! I was incredibly lucky to be greeted by Seneca, who after listening to my sob story offered to squeeze me in for an afternoon appointment to try a couple sample dresses I'd seen listed on Stillwhite. She was such a sweetheart, and when I returned for my appointment, had the two dresses I'd requested pulled, as well as a few others of the similar style. Although I didn't have a group with me, Seneca was incredibly patient and supportive while I mulled over the dresses, and hyped me up to fall in love with my original vision. Some of the sample dresses being sold are quite affordable for the budget conscious bride which was a huge plus! Additionally, I've seen fantastic reviews about their in house alterations. Highly recommend whether you're lost in your wedding dress search, or if you want an exceptional experience picking exactly what you want!

Unfortunately for me, I did not get the experience I was hoping for and did not feel like my stylist was able to interpret my vision. This was my 4th time trying on dresses. I previously went to Kleinfeld NYC, Anthropologie Palo Alto, and Kinsley Couture Walnut Creek. I had wonderful experiences at my previous appointments. I decided to come here because one of my friends had recommended them. My budget was $5k so I had a flexible price range. My stylist didn't really explain to me their process at this store so I was a bit confused. I knew it was a one hour time limit and the estimated dresses to try on was 5, but I didn't know it was a hard limit. She ended my appt early at 45 minutes. Had I known I could only try on 5 dresses exactly, it would have been nice if she was transparent about that so I could at least maybe select the dresses I gravitated toward out of her selection. I felt like I was giving feedback after each dress, but kept getting another variation of what I didn't like. The first dress I tried was probably the best out of 5, but from there we kept getting further and further away from what I wanted. There were some dresses I put on and wasn't comfortable to walk out on the podium, but she never asked me if I wanted to show my guests or not. She would just immediately open the curtains and I just felt very exposed and not handled with care. It just didn't feel like a hospitable environment for me or my 3 guests. We were never even offered water. I'm hoping my experience was an outlier and I wish all the brides coming here success in their bridal journey.

I am in LOVE with both my dress and the experience I had at Bo Lee!!…read more I was recommended Bo Lee by a friend who knew of them when they were located in Sunnyvale; they're now located in Campbell. Parking is super easy; for my Sunday 3:00 PM appointment, the street parking spots were empty and the nearby parking garage had tons of space. Entrance is a little bit of a hole-in-the-wall, but they put a sign above their entrance, and directions are easy to follow to their front door (store is located on the second floor). My absolute love of this place includes: - the space is huge!! I had a dual fitting with my friend, but we weren't bumping into each other or in each other's pictures or anything at all. I saw that there was another person doing a fitting, but she was practically on the other side of the building, so we weren't encroaching in each other's space. - the dual fitting was a special request, and Jackie made sure to put us in rooms next to each other, which made the process that much more seamless - kitchen: one of my girls set up camp and poured us our teas, mimosas, and champagne in the Bo Lee kitchen. Also a beautiful space! - natural lighting: big and tall windows plus second floor venue equals viewing yourself in true colors instead of only bulb-lighting. The dresses I tried on were beautiful, but in the natural light, I could see how dynamic they were as well! Subtle sparkles, sheer tulle... it all came out differently in the natural light. - stylist chooses the dresses based on conversations and preference. Jackie, my stylist, knew the entire inventory. I just described what I thought I wanted, and she delivered!! I was relieved that I didn't have to go through dress after dress on the floor and hum and haw about whether I wanted to try it on or not. (Some people might not like this, but I feel like I had a curated try-on collection from an expert who saw the bigger picture.) - I also love how Jackie had me try on a dress I didn't think was the style I wanted, and she dotted her Is and crossed her Ts so I could for sure say with confidence that that particular dress style was a "no" from me. - both Jackie and Bo Lee took my measurements to make sure there wasn't an error, and it's the little things like that that make you feel confident in choosing them as your bridal boutique. I'm happy, I saw and tried on so many styles, and I had such a fun time! I also went under-budget for what I wanted for my dress, which is a win!
