I was a complete novice with threading and I chose my upper lip for my first time. Maybe not my best decision. Did it hurt? Of course. But not as bad as I was thinking. And the pain was worth the feeling of a smooth upper lip(something I'm very paranoid about). The whole thing probably took 5 minutes and that's because I was given a couple breaks to dry my watering eyes. Alka was very sweet, quick and thorough. When I messaged to set up the appointment she replied that she was available "now." Luckily I live very close to her, but b/c it was so last minute, I very embarrassingly left my wallet at home as I had changed bags the night before. When it came time to pay, I had offered to leave my phone with her to prove I would be right back with cash. She told me it was ok. She texted me shortly thereafter letting me know I can pay next time or I can pay with Zelle. The more often hair is plucked, the less strength the root has. If this is your first time having hair plucked(albeit at a rapid rate) it's going to hurt more. Over time the follicle looses strength and the process is easier. My goal is to thread/wax for awhile until I see that the hair is thinner so that I will only need a few electrolysis treatments to get rid of it permanently. Tips: Alka's shop is in her garage, so you need to find street parking. She only takes cash or Zelle or Venmo payments. If you can bring a cold pack to put on your skin afterwards, do so. If you're a fair girl like me, you're skin will be red and have a sunburn feeling afterwards for a while. Over the counter topical numbing cream may help. read more

It's taken me literal years to find a threading artist like Alka. I have very sparse, unruly brows and was always disappointed with my past brow experiences from other places. After addressing these issues, Alka talked me through what her plan was with my brows so that they could grow while staying clean and shaped. Got my first thread! Never been plucked as well. I figured heck why not! I was so nervous because I was afraid it's going to be super painful. Actually, it wasn't that bad :D I contacted Alka and asked if there's a slot available either today or tomorrow, she replied and said she is available now. That was unexpected since I was doing several errands *LoL I wasn't mentally prepared, but I said ok. So, I dragged myself to her place. She asked me a few questions, so since it was my first time I just asked for a natural shape. I don't put make up on, so having natural shaped eye brows would be more appropriate. The day of my appointment Alka greeted me and right away was sat in the chair to get my eyebrows done. Everything was done professionally. I've grown out my eyebrows and it was finally time to groom it again. Alka was very accommodating of my last minute request. Although I arrived 7 minutes late, she still waited and greeted me with a smile. She then proceeds to ask me which eyebrow I like better which I was surprised cause none of the brow places I've been to before has ever asked me this question. It makes sense cause I hate one of my brows and I don't want my good brow to look like it lol (girls you get this!). She did a great job shaping my brows with no cuts and bumps! I am so glad I found Alka Aunty! She works out of her house so she's the valley's hidden gem! I love how i can text her to make appointments. I'm always working so her hours are such a plus for me! I get my full face threaded about once a month, it takes about half and hour. She is very meticulous and takes her time so she doesn't miss any stand of hair.
