I got a haircut there yesterday. I have skin cancer and had grown my hair out to collar length to cover my ears and neck from the sun. I asked for a little off by my ears and a trim. Next thing I know he's cutting 3 inches off the back. Didn't want me to have a mullet, he said. He cut off six months of growth without asking me. Certainly a talented barber could have come up with a long hair style that wasn't a mullet. The barber forced his idea of how I should look without consulting with the customer. My son is now A LOT better still not a huge fan of hair cuts but this place still amazes us every-time. They are great with beards as well. Been here twice -- once for a haircut and once for a beard trim. I would not recommend coming here for a beard trim. I should've said something but I figured, what's the use, I can't undo it. He totally butchered my beard. I've been growing it out for about 6 months and I just wanted a SMALL cleanup. I said to take as little off as possible and clean up the sides while still retaining the same density and shape. He took off at least an inch off and 2 months of growth, ruined the shape, and made it look patchy and uneven. Worst off he did it so fast (about less then 5min), and didn't face me toward the mirror so I could see how much he was taking off. I thought I was very clear about what I wanted, but I guess not. Had a bad experience at a different shop and grew out my hair pretty long. Made an appointment with Josh and asked for a classic side part. What I got was a buzz cut. Josh told me my hair was very uneven and needed to be cut short to fix it. He cut it far shorter than what I asked for but I took his word that it needed fixing. Thought it looked good until I got home and noticed a big short patch right on top. Will not be returning. read more

I got a men's cut by Krystal last weekend. My first take-away is: holy bajingo she is FAST! I was in the chair for under 10 minutes, and my hair is long enough that it was about half scissors and half trimmer-over-comb. I used to shave my head every 10 days and I've never had so fast a haircut, very impressive! My girlfriend likes how it looks, and that's as good as I need when it comes to my hair. At $17 it wasn't a bargain considering the area, but not too pricey by any means. Important note: services performed faster than expected deserve a greater tip because they made your life better with their skill, not less because it didn't take them as much time. This place is amazing! A friend recommended it for my son who is on the spectrum and used to have a terrible experience getting his hair cut. I moved to Frederick in November and I've been finding a good barber to get the perfect cut. I tried these guys for the first time. Teddy cut my hair and I liked it (not a big fan but it was decent). My wife didn't like it at all so I went back in the next day to get another trim. Teddy did a great job, I didn't have to pay anything extra and I was in and out. Horrible! Over aggressive barber clipper blade rubbing skin repeatedly. Asked for a hair cut an left with practically a buzz cut. They still charged the high price though. Also got a beard trim an said "leave it long" the barber says "just a light trim" I went in with a 4-5 inch beard an left with less than an inch. An the barber did not say anything the entire time even when I tried to make conversation. They even face you away from the mirror so you can't see the damage being done. Do not trust these people with your hair or beard. It will be easier to explain shaving my head with a saftey razor over this mess an that is what I am doing. I just got my hair cut by Bobby Wilson- he did an excellent job at fixing a couple mistakes that my previous barber made in terms of setting up lines for my high and tight fauxhawk - excellent attention to detail- I know where I'll be getting my ears lowered at from now on- even though they're a few miles further than where I normally go. read more

The store is always clean and the waiting area is extremely comfortable and family friendly. There isn't a nicer barber or better place to go for a cut or shave in Frederick County! Me and my son have been going to All About Men since they opened. Joe cuts my hair and he does a great job with what I have left to work with. He is professional and a perfectionist. Josh has also cut my hair if Joey is on vacation and he does a great job too. The shop just relocated around the corner and it's beautiful. We've been bringing our 4yr old son here since he was 6 months old! For his first haircut he received a certificate! The barbers here are all very patient with kids and do a fantastic job! With this new location, our son prefers that we arrive early enough for him to enjoy playing with the toys and video games before he gets his haircut! His Daddy loves to sit at the bar in the back of the shop to chat with the other patrons. The decor is amazing! The attention to detail is phenomenal. My father also gets his haircut here. We've been taking my son to see "Joe" every two weeks for the past several years. He recently moved into a new shop within the same shopping center, but it is WAY different. They've done an amazing job with the place, including a larger waiting area, complete with multiple TV's, gaming systems and comfortable seating. In the back is a beautiful bar with seating, additional TV's, an old fashioned gas pump and other nostalgic decorations, and a table shuffleboard set. The bar allows you to have a 5oz domestic beer (three to choose from) while you wait (for free, by the way!). The décor itself is really amazing, with "razorblade" ceiling lighting throughout, straight razor handles on the barber's cabinets, and much more. The haircuts are reasonable and there are plenty of barbers, so there's very little wait time. This is not just a haircut, but an experience. You'll thoroughly enjoy All About Men, and I can't say enough about it. read more

Total incompetence. I don't think I could have been more specific on about how I wanted my haircut and she did the complete opposite. If I wanted a military Jarhead buzz cut I would have asked for one I look like I have a freaking mohawk. I asked for a camo color and said please be careful with my shirt , she completely ignored me and ruined a $250 shirt. My mistake for wearing such an expensive shirt and trusting somebody. The girl quit halfway through because she had a doctor's appointment and someone else had a finish who try their best to fix the problem. I sure as heck will never be back. read more

If you intend to leave with precisely what you told your hairdresser you DON'T want, go here. I gave her precise instructions from my go-to stylist whom I couldn't schedule with, including pictures and razor blade numbers and left with everything I explicitly asked against. I blatantly stated "just take some weight off the top and texturize, but don't take any real length off" and was left with an inch less hair on the top. He usually calls for an appointment, but says they are so fast, and so good that even though they are frequently busy, if you're a walk-in you only have to wait about five, maybe ten minutes! My 2-year old son needed a hair cut, All About Men has been the best experience I've ever had getting his hair cut!! We've been to Hair Cuttery and Cartoon Cuts and had an "okay" experience. I have been getting my hair cut here ever since the opened. Honestly, the only reason I've been going so long is because there doesn't seem to be a better option in the area. A hair cut here is a complete roll of the dice. Sometimes I walk out looking great and sometimes not so much. I got my hair cut yesterday, and walked out with the front of my hair at a complete 45 degree angle. This one is definitely the worst yet. I don't want to trash this establishment for the work of one person, but I received, hands down, the worst haircut of my life. I went in for my usual haircut, nothing too difficult, but more than your average buzz cut. My stylist said he could do it no problem. He faced me away from the mirror (so that I could watch TV) but the problem is I didn't see all of the damage he was doing. He used clippers almost exclusively, reshaped my hairline and by that I mean he gave me a receding hairline when normally I do not have one, and then asked if he could trim a few long hairs in my eyebrows. He shaved them almost completely off. I now have a white ring around my face because the skin where i normally have hair is now exposed, I'm missing most of my eyebrows, and my haircut looks awful. This could be a totally isolated incident and perhaps the stylist was having an off day. The environment was nice and the staff was friendly, but this haircut is truly dreadful and now I have to wait 4 weeks for my eyebrows to grow back. My advice, face the mirror. read more
