Do not trust your dog with this lady. I took my dog here to get groomed a few years back and I want to share my review, so pet owners are aware. My dog came back with rashes and my dog had a stomach ache and barfed out yellowish liquid. I asked her why my dog had rashes all over and she claimed my dog was allergic to grooming which is not correct because my dog has gotten groomed at other places with no problem. I also can't figure out why my dog was sick after the groomed. She is also very expensive and charges the most in the area and when you charge $130 for grooming you expect better service. She won't allow you to see the grooming facility itself so you don't really know if your dog is being treated well or what condition your dog is being groomed in. -Just a few things to think about before taking your dog here. read more

Not only does Carmen genuinely care about my dog, but she is also extreemly patient with nervous or concerned owners who want their dog to have a positive experience. Our poodle is very finicky and she usually does not like strangers-- Carmen is the only person she lets pet her outside of our family. Our dog definetly trusts that Carmen won't hurt her and we appreciate the amount of care she shows to our anxious dog. Also, it was difficult for us to find someone who can handle a dog that has behavioral issues; Carmen did not judge us for having a dog with issues, she accomodated and gave our dog more time to adjust. She had apparently emailed me forms to complete and never mentioned them in any of our texts until I was already in route to the appointment. I had to sit with my dogs for 30 minutes for her to print out the forms for me to complete because her forms were not online. She seemed young and so I tried to give her a chance as she conducted her business. She then comes out to say maybe we need to reschedule because she was having problems with her printer and she may not have the time. I told her I just made this drive and I really needed them to be groomed that day. So she agreed. I was still hopeful i twould turn out. At 1:30 pm she texted they have another hour to go. At 2:30 I checked in, and she said they needed another hour. She said they'd be ready at 3:30 and I sat for 30 minutes waiting. Come to find out she had taken her dog or another dog for a walk and apologized. She brought my girls out and said she couldn't finish and if i could bring them on Sunday at 12:30. I was a little upset, but kept it in because again, young girl, trying to start a business, I want to encourage and support it. So I told her that's fine. Sunday at 10:04 am she texts to say she needs to take the day off. I had arranged my schedule that day to drive them over and sit for an hour waiting for each one, and she cancels. I text her that I understand the need for time off, however this was unprofessional to 1) not finish the grooming job that was paid for in good faith $230 2) to cancel last minute on a 2nd trip that I had to make because she couldn't finish the first time. She blamed it on my dogs. That they were anxious and that next time I should sedate them. I have been taking them to various groomers in the area and love Pets Plus in Kingstowne - but the wait time was so long which is what prompted me to try someone new. She cheated me and my two little maltese. Putting this out there so you don't get cheated. She refused to give me my money back for not finishing the service. BEWARE! read more

With all the crazy virus stuff going on my regular groomer had no appointments and my dogs were looking really shaggy and needed their nails trimmed. I decided to try a mobile groomer and found All About Dogs DMV here on Yelp. The owner got back to me right away and picked up my dogs for the grooming appointment. The price was very fair and they look great. Sometimes my dogs are a little nippy, but I was told they were very well behaved. (They even got some play time.) I think that says a lot about how the owner relates to the dogs and can read their body language. read more

Like I stated earlier It pains me to write the review and even to think about the experience. The only reason I had two stars earlier instead of one is because in the early stage of my communication with Carmen, she did reply promptly to my texts. However, all I can really remember is that I spent almost $2000 with five days board and train and three in-home sessions. There is a fearful nine-week puppy left for me. I am not sure if Carmen hit the dog or not in the board and train, here are a few facts I have seen during the sessions. 1. During the third day of board and train. I stopped by Carmen's house and checked on my dog. Carmen just dragged and pulled brutally, and my dog was rolling on the ground when Carmen tried to teach "leash walking". 2. When Carmen dropped the puppy after the board and train, we tried to have my kid practice "come" command with the pup. Pup did not come as expected. Carmen just pulled the puppy and dragged it all the way from 10 yards away to the front of my child and of course the puppy was crying all along. 3. The last time we met with Carmen, Carmen stayed for a little over one hour. During the visit, Carmen was "dominating" the dog the entire session. Even when my dog was so scared and squeezed himself in the corner of the crate, Carmen did not stop. Carmen also ended up injured a bit due to the "dominating" when my dog ended up panting all night. With an hour-long dominating session conducted by Carmen and a suggestion that two more months continue dominating, I was totally confused about the dominating "guideline". For that last session, Carmen stayed probably only five minutes over one hour. To my surprise, she sent a message afterwards to blame me for staying too long for a session when I never stopped her from leaving the house. To reply to Carmen's message earlier, as for the first session, Carmen also never told me there was a time limit nor mentioned she would charge more than the price she showed earlier. Instead, she just asked for $60 more towards the end of the session. I did pay without hesitation, but the unexpected price raise made me feel like getting scammed. I had made clear that the reason I do not want to continue the training with Carmen is because of the constant dominating. The alternative refund Carmen offered was two day school sessions??!! How can I send the dog to Carmen's house even when I do not want her to dominate it in front of me?? I had done some research online about the "Alpha Roll" technique since it was introduced by Carmen, the famous Cesar Millan who mastered this technique also mentioned "an aggressive move like alpha-rolling a dog is only the right tool if you're dealing with a dominant, aggressive, over-excited dog and, even then, only if you know what you're doing and why." Instead, I was taught the dominating technique which hurt both myself and my dog. After I stopped dominating and tried to be patient with my puppy. He stopped biting within a week of time. I admitted I had texted Carmen for inquiries. But I had also spent $1900 for hiring her. She even asked for another 5-day board and train after the last visit which could be another $1200. We contacted All About Paws DMV after our Australian Shepherd puppy "Tornado" had a really bad experience with a PETCO groomer (never again!). Carmen came out to our house and was incredibly gentle and patient with Tor, who had been traumatized by his PETCO grooming. She took her time to comb out his matted fur and did such a perfect grooming job on him that even our vet and all the vet techs remarked that they had never seen such a good grooming on this breed of dog, which has a double coat of incredibly thick, wavy hair. We've had a wonderful experience with Carmen! She is warm, friendly, and personable and flexible. She's the only person I've taken my dog to more than twice for a groom. My dog has a whole host of issues - seizures, limp, deathly afraid of humans, etc. so finding a groomer who would understand and actually cater to those needs is awesome and stress relieving!
