If I could leave 0 stars I would. Do not book an appointment here!! I made an appointment a month in advance. I asked if he was open on the 4th of July. He said yes. I booked the first appointment explaining I had a blind dog that didn't do well left alone in a kennel. I told them I would wait outside so as soon as they were ready I would be there. No need for a kennel, right? So all is good. The DAY BEFORE the appointment, I text to confirm pricing. He calls me immediately and rudely explains how he was coming in on a holiday and that i said no to a Saturday, which did not happen. He then told me I should take my dog to Petco if I had special requests and he cannot be put in a kennel. Because he's blind. So now he gets to take the 4th of July off work. Ernesto was fantastic! My 16 year old cat had matted knots under her armpits and inner thighs that I couldn't safely cut out, or brush out, myself. Not only did Ernesto do a wonderful job making her shaved body look cute, he was so gentle and tender with her and it completely put her at ease. She was totally calm in his care. I had a wonderful grooming experience there. My bichon looked like show dog after being groomed. Maria is so gentle and experienced.

My cat is older and overweight and needed mats removed. I contacted many pet salons but this was the only one who would shave a cat with a unpredictable temperament. Ernesto was very patient and wonderful in caring for my cat while removing all of the mats which were tightly imbedded in his skin and making him very uncomfortable. This place might not be for everybody. I called them on Saturday to ask if they had any availability to groom my 75-lb golden retriever that same weekend. I had called a bunch of places around DC/NOVA last minute (wanted grooming before I have to travel for the July 4th holiday). I spoke to Maria, who was very nice, and she said she could squeeze me in at noon on Sunday. So that was good. I appreciated them scheduling me with my short notice. We texted a bit, and she told me it would take about an hour and that they only take cash. She also advised me I'd get a 20% discount as a new customer. I got a call around 11:50 AM from Maria saying she was running a bit late and would be there by 12:15 PM. I said okay, and that we would be there at 12 PM but we could wait. I assumed there would be someone at the storefront when we got there on time, but there wasn't. I had to take my pup across the street to a shaded wooded area because it was too hot to wait in the car or around there in the direct sun. When she got there around 12:15 PM, another client showed up at the exact same time as me. She checked both of us in (Maria was the only staff there). She told me to come back in an hour and the other client to come back in two hours. As for the place itself, it's a bit messy with a lot of clutter. Definitely a no-frills spot. When I went back about an hour later, my dog had just been bathed/dried. He was in one of the large crates with fans because he doesn't like to be blowdried. She hadn't started trimming him yet (fur or nails). She got that done while I was there, which I didn't wholly mind so I could ease my pup's nerves while he got groomed. That took another 50 min or so, and we walked out around 2:15 PM. I imagine the other client was going to be coming back soon, and she hadn't even started on that dog yet, so that was going to be an issue. I'm not sure why they schedule two dogs at the exact same time if there is only one staff member for everything. The service/end product itself was satisfactory. Granted, my golden didn't need much work other than bathing, good brushing, and trimming. But she took her time with him, and I'm happy with how he looks. She certainly followed my minimalistic instructions. And she was pleasant to talk to and seems to really care about her pets and clients. Bottomline: I probably wouldn't go back to Gigi's unless I'm really in a bind. Even though I was satisfied with how they cared for and bathed/trimmed my dog, I think there are cleaner, more organized places for around the same price in DC and Arlington. read more

I took my cat in yesterday to Gigi's to get her claws trimmed. The woman who trimmed her claws just turned my cat's bag upside down to dump her out of the bag. She then was fairly rough and seems very unsure of herself as she was cutting her claws. Like most cats, my cat does not love getting her nails trimmed. She then escaped in the salon and it took a long time to get her back into her bag. The groomer failed to trim two of her back claws, but assured me that she cut all of the front ones. This morning, I felt and saw that two of my cats front claws were not cut. I reached out asking for a reimbursement, as I will now need to take her elsewhere to get the rest of her claws trimmed. She responded "Your cat interruped my day. So all you get is 5$. I don't even need to do that but I am trying to be understanding." I am shocked by the over all experience, and that a person working at a pet salon would say that my cat 'interupted her day'. Grooming animals is their job afterall. Really satisfied with the service here. My dog sees Maria. My pet is older and recently had some skin and fur problems. Maria let me know that her ears looked bad and she needed to see a vet soon and sure enough, my dogs flaky skin got into her ears and gave her an ear infection. I likely wouldn't have known until my dog was really irritated or in pain. It's nice to take my doggo to someone who is attentive and looking out for her. Ernesto clearly has extensive experience with cats. my 17-year-old had stopped grooming her hips; I was fearful that shaving around this presumably arthritic area would be traumatic for her, but Earnesto invited me to be present through the process which was reassuring. my cat was feisty, but E. had special equipment and techniques to efficiently groom her, with great attention to detail & stylish results. I am actually wondering if this place is a front for something. There are several reasons I came to this conclusion and several reasons this place is the worst run business. Also, after since going here I have told people the story of how terrible this place was and 4 friends of mine were like "OMG WE WENT THERE IT WAS THE WORST!!" Anyways lets get into this: 1. When you call to make an appointment it totally depends on who you get on the phone. For me I got the Sunday lady and it was hilarious because I'm like, "Can I make an appointment for Saturday?" Her response? "I can give you the Saturday guys number but it's not me" Are you a business? Don't you have an appointment book that books with different people? Are you renting this space? Are you all operating under different businesses? This is super sketchy. 2. They only take cash or check and do not tell you this until you pick your dog up. Yes, there is a sign behind the counter in size 12 font. But do you notice it? No. Why? Oh... because they have ALL THE DOGS COME AT THE EXACT SAME TIME FOR APPOINTMENTS THAT DAY. As a new patron, you need to fill out forms so on top of 42 dogs running around you also are filling shit out so you miss the baby sign stating "cash or check". Now, because this is 2018 and no one carries cash around with them, you'd think they would have options like PayPal, venmo, or even a damn ATM... they don't... they make you drive to a 7/11 thats like 20 minutes there and back. 3. The Service. Because the Sunday woman is so stupid, she doesn't understand that if she put 4 minutes of thought into her job, she could space these dogs out and cut them at different times. At literally any other groomer on the planet, there's more than one person that works there. So, you walk in to get your dog and there it is strapped to a table and when it sees you will will try to jump off and hang itself with the noose around it's neck. When I got in there she's literally like, "can you hold your dog so I can cut her?" Where's your assistant, bitch? Why am I paying you 80 dollars to help and also spend extra time driving around trying to find you cash because you're too stupid to figure out technology or even order a credit card swiper for your phone. 4. The Space. Because all the dogs come at the same time, they put your dog in a rusty ass cage. Yes... Rusty. It's nasty. Anyways, this place is apparently infamously bad and I wish someone wrote this out on yelp so I had fair warning. Places I recommend instead: Happy Grooming (Arlington) or Pet Spaw (Vienna), I'm sure literally any other place is better than this shit hole read more

Ernesto is an exceptional groomer and person! I have used him for my four Samoyeds over the years, and he always does a beautiful job (and Samoyeds aren't easy). My current Samoyed is 14, cannot stand for very long, and incontinent. This is no problem for Ernesto--he always takes excellent care of my babies. I would highly recommend him because not only is he an excellent groomer, but he loves dogs so I know he will always be good to them. read more

Practice your phone skills first! OK UPDATE: Dont judge me!! My dog really needed a bath, stat! His paws started having that cornchip smell. Long story short, took him to GiGi's b/c it is close in vicinity. Well the woman is very chatty and an expert (so she would like to believe) on anything dogs. Well I dropped him off at 11 and he was done at 3. His cut was average and cost ABOVE average $85. He had better and cheaper cuts in Manhattan! Prob won't be using her again. But I will bump up to 3 stars. Maybe she was having a bad day the time I actually called. I see now that she is a chatty cathy, so maybe that is her nature to talk over people. read more

We just took our 14 week old puppy to Gigi's for the first time this weekend. Maria was Sophi's groomer and did a GREAT job with Sophi. Sophi is a Shih-Tzu and I asked Maria to cut her hair down to where she stays warm but doesn't look like a furrball and to shave her butt down to a zero (LOL)! Maria delivered just that! Sophi looks amazing and she looked very happy when we picked her up. Maria's daughter (looked like a teenager, not a child) was at the front desk playing with Sophi when I arrived and asked if she could take photos of Sophi (of course!). We are VERY happy with Gigi's Pet Salon. There are two reasons for only giving four stars: 1. A little expensive for my taste... It was $65 and I think I was expecting no more than $50... 2. They DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS!!! There were signs on the door stating that they no longer accept credit cards, cash or check ONLY. This is a big problem for us because we like to get points on our credit card and $65 would have been a good amount of points. All in all, highly recommended!!! read more

I paid 35 dollars in Florida for the same grooming that costs 75 here. Everywhere in Arlington/DC seems to be around this price, but GiGis had good reviews and offered 20% off for first time customers so I tried it out with my pomapoo. My dog is very easy to deal with, she hops in the tub when it's time to bathe her and let's you do whatever you want (not an aggressive bone in her body), so my biggest concern is finding a groomer who is kind to her and makes her look good! I also avoid crating her since I haven't shut her crate door in years ( she goes in her crate by choice at home)! I showed a picture of what I wanted and stressed how groomers have cut her face too short in the past, which made her look odd. Unlike most places, the time estimate was only a few hours so I knew she wouldn't be crated too long, which was a plus. I was running late on my way back due to traffic and called to let them know. When I got there, she wasn't crated and was hanging out with the groomer within the confined area behind the counter. This made me happy :0). At first, I was upset because I thought her face was too short, but I realized a day or two later she actually looked PERFECT and exactly like the picture I showed--just took some getting used to since she hadn't been cut in 5 months (winter she stays long). It's amazing the before and after--he must've spent a long time cutting her hair down because she literally looked like she was 10 lbs heavier with how much extra hair she had! It ended up costing 60 with the discount, and I tipped 20 because I felt bad for being late and I was happy with the service. Aside from the outrageous prices in Arlington for grooming, I think this is a good place to go! I called about 4 places and they all priced around the same 70-80 dollars pre-tip for grooming. I really love how she looks and can't believe it's the same dog--she looks years younger!!! read more

Worst haircut ever on my dog! Was specifically told not to cut the fur on the top of the dogs head as he was growing out a Mohawk yet trimmed it down by more than 2/3rds. Also, cut the dogs fur under his neck super short and didn't blend or fade it into the rest of the body. When I called to complain offered zero resolution and lied about the instructions he was given. Not only would I never go back there I would strongly recommend against anyone else taking their dog here as well. read more

My kitty Bash needed a cut as her prior groomer left town. I checked reviews for groomers that cut kitties and came across GiGis. Bash is a Persian/Siamese mix and at its longest, her fur has touched the ground. I dropped her off on Friday morning and in an hour she looked fantastic. She wasn't skittish when we arrived home if anything, more loving. She played all afternoon and loves her cut lol. They don't bathe the kitties, which I was informed of, and I did receive a first time discount which is on their web page. I will bring her back in three or four months as I was very pleased with her cut. read more

Mr Ernesto is the real dog whisperer! He is not only an incredible groomer, but more important to me is that he is wonderfully kind & caring with the pets. My 110 rescue lab had "paw trauma" from having serious burns on his paws from hot pavement. It was nearly impossible to touch his paws let alone trim his nails. But then we found Mr Ernesto and he spoke so gently & sweetly to him while clipping his nails that I think he became less afraid gradually. At least I know he knew he was in good hands. After calling around and this place being the only one with an opening my husband and I decided to try it out. from the moment we walked in we felt comfortable and knew we were leaving our fur babies in good hands! I have taken way too long to write this review, but Ernesto and Maria are both AMAZING. My dog is very anxious, and they both treat him as though he is their own. I never feel nervous leaving him with them, and I am always happy with the end result. Due to the nature of my dog's coat, he gets matted very quickly and easily, which has led him to being completely shaved at other groomers. However, this has never happened at Gigi's and I am so grateful. They really take the time to listen to exactly what you want and deliver. I actually took Bentley in yesterday and there were other dogs in the salon, so instead of being crated he was allowed to play with them while waiting for his turn :) I can't say enough great things about both the customer service and quality of Gigi's and I highly recommend it to anyone who might have a nervous pup! read more
