Within a month we could start to notice some of the employees were a little sketchy to say the least and there were also some inconsistencies: No lead teacher... different person all the time Delayed communication through the app Had to remind the director about our military discount every week Yup, I was on the cusp of quitting my job to stay home, when ... Ahhhhhhhhhh (angelic music) a beautiful figure appeared in the door LOLL! Ms. Nikki Newsome walked through the door! Not sure what happened but the old director was never seen again. Then so many things changed! Our child had a consistent lead teacher (woo hoo go Ms. Amber:) A new daycare app was set in place and communication was amazing No discrepancies in our bill an awesome learning curriculum every week, our daughter started achieving more and more milestones Her social skills went from high anxiety to not even noticing when I was walking out the door at drop (Hallelujah!)... I could go on with so many great things. Yes, this was a long review but I do not have a million dollars to give Ms. Nikkie for the peace of mind she has brought us as parents. It was quite with a great Disney playlist playing in the background. The bathrooms were squeaky clean and there were white crocs by the bathrooms so you didn't go in with just socks on. You can bring snacks and drinks for your little one and sit in the front waiting area with it. For parents with big kids that don't need as much assistance the sitting area upfront is so nice. There were also couches in the back infront of the ballpit that has phone chargers ready for you. The staff was super nice and clean up in between each session. Will def be returning this summer.

Pam, the director, clearly cares deeply about the kids and makes every family feel welcome from day one. The teachers we've worked with have all been excellent: very professional, communicative, and organized, but they still keep things fun and playful for the kids. We came from another daycare in the area and can say with confidence that La Petite is a massive upgrade. In just a few weeks, we've seen marked improvements in our son's behavior and how he interacts with other kids. There is a strong emphasis on the classroom as a community, and it really shows--children seem to learn how to play well together, take turns, and be considerate classmates. The structure and expectations in the classroom feel age-appropriate but still set them up for success. I can very easily see our son being more than ready for kindergarten in a couple of years. They keep the kids busy in the best way -- every day our son is learning something new, with lots of hands-on activities and exploration. The app is also fantastic; we get tons of updates and photos throughout the day so we always feel connected to what he's doing. My only (very minor) gripe is the parking lot -- it's a bit small and can get chaotic during peak drop-off and pickup times. But honestly, that's a small trade-off for the level of care and education our son is getting. Overall, we're extremely happy we made the switch and highly recommend La Petite of Glen Allen to other families.

My daughter had been jumping for about 40 minutes when an employee told her she could no longer jump because of the socks she was wearing, stating they had to be Lulu Land socks. As a parent, I was confused because trampoline socks are trampoline socks, and I did not see anything clearly stated in the waiver saying my child could not wear them. When I asked for clarification, the situation quickly escalated instead of being handled professionally. Rather than calmly resolving the issue, I felt disrespected and spoken to in an unprofessional manner. What should have been a fun day for children turned into an upsetting experience for my family. Things escalated to the point where the police were called and I was told I was trespassing, which made the entire situation even more disappointing. This was my personal experience, and based on it, I would not return. Parents deserve clear policies, respectful communication, and an environment where children can simply enjoy themselves.

He's very high functioning and has been in the school setting since pre-k. I let them know prior to registering about his IEP plan and some accommodations we have in place. They made it seem like everything was okay! June 2nd was the first day of camp. Why did they politely kick my child out the program? First we talked about doing half days because it was a new environment but when I went to pick him up they basically said let's go ahead & issue a refund! I'm so frustrated but also understand all of the children's safety is the biggest priority! I think the most heartbreaking thing is they didn't give my child a chance to adapt to the environment or modify the camp schedule. They immediately decided they didn't want to work with him. I say this to say don't waste your time sending your children here for summer camp if they have any type of special needs. They will not work with them AT ALL! They didn't give my child any time to adjust. I'm disgusted with this location & the staff here.

My two elementary age children went to Tuckaway Ellwood House for 3 weeks this past summer. The teacher was friendly but the front desk is horrendous. I gave them my credit card number to charge for payment. Apparently the either lost it or failed to charge it, but they never sent me an invoice or communicated that they needed payment (not by phone, email, or mail). Then, less than 4 weeks after my daughters left, instead of sending us an invoice, they sent our bill to a debt collector and tacked on a $400 "legal fee"! Yes, I received a debt collection notice in the mail (again, having never received even ONE bill or invoice) with an additional $400 added on! Unprofessional and disgusting. Adding to this, the weeks leading up to and during our time at Ellwood, communication was terrible. Emails inquiring about forms, dates, etc. went unanswered 3/4 times.

We waited patiently until October 2018, but there were no notices about our enrollment though they said the wait list is about a year. I called them up, and they said that we can start in 2-3 weeks. The girl who runs the enrollment process, Mary, wasn't friendly at all. She didn't reply on my emails on time, and she gave me dirty looks when I asked too many questions in person. Really?‍ I was already disappointed, but I decided to give it a try. Sofia was 2 years and 6 months when we started day care. First, she liked it a lot, but in a couple of weeks her teacher left, and they were struggling to find someone new. Instead, they were changing care givers every day because they were just sending people from other groups to help. At this point, Sofia didn't want to go there anymore. She cried at home at night and in the morning because she didn't want to come back to her day care. She cried hysterically at the moment when we were saying goodbye there. What can I say? It was very hard for all of us, but their care givers didn't care much. They didn't try to calm her down or distract her attention. They just kept playing with other kids. Once, my husband went to drop her off, and Sofia cried so hard that she threw up there. Can you imagine that no one even came to him to help to clean up and calm her down until he asked for help ‍. We tried for a week with all this crying, and we stopped. I took her out of there. This was the worst experience ever. After this child care, she even stopped trusting her babysitter for a few weeks. Then, Sofia calmed down, and she happily stayed with babysitter like she did it before. Moreover, we looked into reviews for this Tuckaway child care, and we realized that all the recent positive reviews were left by the people who work there‼This is crazy . For now, since December, Sofia stays at home with me, and I can see the difference in her behavior. She is a happy little girl again. Isn't that the most important for every parent? We will try to put her in another day care in Fall 2019 when she will be 3.5, and I hope she will enjoy it.

It is a serious rock climbing gym so I would make sure your kids are able to listen to and follow instruction for their and others safety. My nephew has climbed before and they definitely let him try some of the harder routes. Party room was great, staff consistently asked if we needed anything or if they could help in any way. The manager also came by and checked on us which was awesome. Overall great experience!
