We stayed in one of the gorgeous suites and loved the elegant décor and thoughtful attention to detail. The fully equipped kitchen, spacious living room, and comfortable furnishings made it feel like a true home away from home. The staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, and the coffee bar was absolutely delicious. One of our favorite moments each day was relaxing on the expansive front porch with a glass of wine, reading our books, and watching the world stroll by. It was the perfect way to unwind between a day at the beach and dinner. The hotel also provides beach towels and bicycles on a first-come, first-served basis, which was a wonderful added touch. We truly loved every aspect of our stay and can't wait to return.

We visit Ocean Grove every March and stay a night or two. We have tried Ocean View, Ocean Plaza, the Majestic, and one place that had no staff. All were acceptable but dated. This year was our first time at Hotel Albatross, which we had previously avoided because of online reviews. But after an 18-month renovation, everything is new and tastefully done. We stayed in a top-floor room with two double beds. The mattresses were firm and comfortable, so I didn't wake up with a sore back. Our room also had a small but useful desk and mini-fridge. The valve to turn on the shower and control the temperature and water flow was on the opposite side of the shower head, so you can turn on the water without getting wet. It heated up fast anyway, but that was a nice feature. There was a rain-style shower head as well as a hand-held that you can fix in place and slide up and down. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Bottled water in our mini-fridge was free. Text messages provided useful information, such as the Wi-Fi code. There is no breakfast buffet, like some other Ocean Grove hotels have, but the nicer accommodations more than made up for that. There are tables on the first floor to sit down and have coffee (and pastries, which are available for purchase). As we checked out, we were offered coffee, which we gladly accepted. We will be back at Hotel Albatross next year.

That's all the nice things I have to say about this 0 star hotel. If it was one block off the beach, it would have closed years ago. This is THE WORST hotel I've ever stayed in, and I once spent a night at the Hotel Carter in NYC the same night a hooker was murdered and found dismembered in a garbage bag. If you must stay here for whatever sick reason (self hate? desire to torture yourself?) DO NOT stay in a double bed room. However big your party is, stay in a room with a single bed. The room I stayed in with my family had two beds, but one of them was right next to the shower (yes, the shower is in the room. no separation whatsoever) and had an air conditioner blowing on your head all night. The sink is in the main room as well. The toilet is "separate" but it's in a tiny closet with a pole almost blocking it. Is this even legal? No way the room was up to code. The wall near the shower/bed was cracking and showed signs of black mold. The carpet was so filthy it turned my kids feet black. We all slept on top of the covers, afraid to even see the quality (or lack thereof) of the bed sheets. The room felt like a prison cell but somehow worse. My mother in law stayed in a room with a single bed. The bathroom was separated from the main room. It was noticeably better, but sleeping on the beach in a tent would have been better, too. This hotel is NOT kid friendly. The staff seemed upset we even brought kids. The kiddie pool was drained. Don't bring your kids here unless you want to punish them for being bad. I don't know how this place calls itself a 2 star hotel. It is literally the bottom of the barrel. Absolutely disgusting. Stay somewhere else.

We had a reservation through Booking.com for the shore point motel for 2 double beds for our family…read moreof 4 for 2 nights. When we arrived at the motel they had our reservation as 1 double bed. They stated this was not on them and my children had to sleep on the hardwood floor as it was a late arrival and no other motels had vacancy for that night and we were 5 hours from home. They did not accommodate us, they were not professional, they didn't not fully refund us, they did not care and kept telling us it was on booking.com and not their problem. This is was the worst customer service I have received in my lifetime. As I sat there crying for my children, they had zero regrets and did not care. Thankfully the Broadway Court Motel down the street fully accommodated us, discounted for us and made us feel insanely safe and comfortable. Also, the bathroom was dosguating, garbage still left in garbages and no toilet paper on the roll. I would never recommend anyone, not even my worst enemy to this motel and I will make sure all future customers know as well. I have never been treated so poorly in my life.

The family-run property was extremely well-kept, and there were so many small details that they had thought of that really enhanced the experience. I was, however, surprised to see so many reviews refer to the place as a "bed and breakfast", because despite the atmosphere being similar, a morning meal was not truly included (more on that below). I am not sure if that was an adjustment made when they also changed the name of the hotel or what. Anyway, I broke out my thoughts on various aspects below: Room: Our room was on the third floor, so there were a good amount of steps to get up there. There was a storage cabinet in the hallway on each floor that held spare rolls of toilet paper and extra cosmetic items for guests to grab as needed. The rooms, however, were already well-stocked with these items, but it was nice to have access to backups for longer stays. Our room was reasonable spacious and even included a fireplace, two stools, a loveseat, and a coffee table. There was also a luggage rack, a dehumidifier, a Roku smart television, beach towels, and beach passes included. The room was relatively soundproof from the neighboring ones, and the area was quiet to begin with. The bed was very soft and fluffy, but wound up being more supportive than I would have expected, since I did not wake up with any back pain. The private bathroom was reasonably spacious and included a large stall shower. There were two of each size towel you could possibly want. Though its pedestal sink did not provide any counterspace, there was a small stand in the corner that could be used as an alternative. The bath products were from C.O. Bigelow, so they had no parabens or other gross ingredients. Cleanliness: Overall, the room was very clean, though I did see a few hairs on the bathroom walls and a long one on the inside of a folded bath towel. The common areas were spotless. Breakfast: While breakfast was not included in the reservation, it could be purchased in advance through the website with a few main course options to choose from. Alternatively, the hotel left a daily "Morning Experience Card" voucher in the room that would cover a portion of breakfast at one of three local eateries - a diner, a bagel shop, or a cafe (see my review for Caffe Di Famiglia at https://www.yelp.com/biz/caffe-di-famiglia-belmar?hrid=muhG5OL20A6uHsCNcq1fHg ). The summertime voucher was for $20, though it would apparently be valued at a lower amount in the off-season. The lobby did have coffee and a delicious orange sponge cake in the morning, though. Registration: The check-in/out services were easy, requiring an online pre-registration, where you selected code that would allow you into the building and to your room. The code would stop working when your reservation ended. There were also two chocolate chip cookies waiting to greet us in our room. Common Areas: The quaint home had a wrap-around porch that included a few dining tables and several rocking chairs. On the inside ground floor there was a dining room table, a living room, and a small den with coffee maker and water pitcher. Beach Gear: In addition to the passes and towels in the room, the hotel had beach cruiser bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, and carts available for use. Location: The location was spectacular, as it was only a block from Main Street's restaurants, shops, and fitness centers, as well as only a few blocks to the beach. Parking: There was room for 5-6 cars to park behind the inn, as well as free parking spots on the residential block. While we would have loved to have a homecooked breakfast at The Opal & Pearl included in our stay, we really felt that the inn was cute and welcoming. We would definitely stay there again.

Splinter HELL, I hope you don't want ice…read more This hotel was fantastic at first, especially the corner pool terrace suite. Easy access to the pool, large and lots of light. But my god, it is splinter hell. Us, along with 3 other families that we knew of, were realizing at the pool that us and our kid's feet were completely full of splinters. We spent a total of about 3 hours at the pool over 2 days and my four year old had over 50 splinters in each foot! I had about 10 and spouse a few less. My four year old will not even let me look at his foot, nevertheless remove the splinters - yeah right. I think we are going to need to get sedated. This has ruined the stay to be honest. The hotel also didn't have tweezers. At least two families complained and nothing seemed to be done about it. The deck is extremely dry. This wouldn't be a hard problem to solve. ICE. I requested ice about 20 different ways, because there is no ice machine so they say just request it: - through the app on their tablet (3x, nothing) - through calling the front desk (2x, nothing) - in person at the front desk (2x, nothing) - through text to the front desk (4x, nothing) - in person to the person that came to the room one night (2x, 1x worked!) I got ice once, woohoooooo! The tablet is a joke. I needed an extra bedsheet and requested it through the tablet and it never came. In person at the front desk it did, however. Beautiful hotel, but the splinters ruined it. You could not pay ME to stay somewhere that my autistic kid gets 100 splinters in his feet. The hotel is feeling a bit neglected in some ways. Our "terrace" had algae on the deck area, one couch cushion had a big brown spot and there was half of a DEAD BIRD on our terrace. It was there the whole time. Of course my 4 year old was enthralled.Yay.

This place promotes itself as being family friendly, but our experience was far from that. We are a family of 6. Rented two rooms. We came for Bridgefest weekend and for 3 of us to be baptized in the ocean. That was wonderful and memorable! However, or experience at this hotel was not wonderful. We were nagged by the staff about noise level, even in the middle of the day. They couldn't just tell the other guests that they had spoken to us? No, they had to keep reminding me. The kids were well behaved and just excited to be there! There were no other young children that we saw staying there. As soon as we were baptized I came back to the room, and was reminded again about the noise level in the middle of the day when it was pouring outside. We packed up and checked out a day early knowing that we were going to be stuck inside playing board games the rest of the night. I've never paid so much for two hotel rooms for 2 days and 1 night. The rooms are extremely small and the breakfast (yogurt and bagels only) is ... minimalist (there is not even water available, just coffee and hot water). The toiletry follows the same trend with mini soap given. It's a shame because of the owners were offering a slightly more premium experience, it could be easily a 5 stars review. But today, the Shawmont is the experience of a 2 stars hotel at the price of a 4 stars.
