On one hand, the initial sales process with Habby and Kayla was excellent--professional, smooth, and pressure-free. I also really love the car. On the other hand, the finance department subsequently engaged in a deceptive product substitution that has resulted in a months-long administrative nightmare. During my financial signing, I was presented with a digital selection screen explicitly branded and marketed as the manufacturer's official Subaru Added Security (SAS) protection program. I agreed to purchase these official plans for a total of $4,103.00. However, without my knowledge or consent, the finance department switched the finalized paperwork to third-party contracts administered by Fidelity Warranty Services (JM&A Group). When I discovered the unauthorized switch, the Finance Director, Emmir Quiroga, explicitly admitted the discrepancy in writing on April 30th and agreed to void the third-party contracts and convert them to the authentic, backdated factory SAS plans. I signed and returned the cancellation documents that exact same day. It has taken over a month and a formal escalation to Subaru Customer Advocacy, the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), and Better Business Bureau just to get a basic status update. It is ridiculous that a dealership requires corporate and state-level intervention just to honor a written agreement. I highly recommend the sales staff here, but look at your final finance paperwork with a magnifying glass before signing.

I came into Safford Hyundai Manassas genuinely prepared to buy a vehicle. I had a great initial…read moreexperience with my salesman, James Kenney. He was very knowledgeable about the cars and answered all of our questions. When we sat down to talk numbers, their initial offer was higher than I was prepared to pay, so I told James I needed to run my own numbers and would call him back that night. This is where everything went downhill. I found another dealer advertising a higher-level model for a lower price. I called James that night, as promised, gave him the VIN, and told him about the listing. He said something strange was going on with this car, but he spoke with his sales manager and said they would match the price. I declined. The other dealer's lower number was now my starting point. James refused to negotiate further and told me I "needed to be shopping for a different class of car because that wasn't realistic." I found that incredibly condescending. The other dealer told me the vehicle I had found had already sold, but they would find me another with the same trim and equipment level. They gave me an offer, lower than what was listed online, and that price was already approximately $3,000 less than James' best price on a lesser vehicle. The next day, James texted me: "If you find out what they're doing with that SEL let me know. I'm genuinely curious as to what they are trying to pull." Before purchasing from the other dealer, I sent James the deal they had offered me: a higher-level model for over $6,000 less than James' best offer on the lower-level model. His response was: "...if they are willing to lose $7k on a deal. Good luck I guess." Again, incredibly condescending. I understand that a $7,000 difference is significant, and I never expected Safford to sell me a vehicle at a price that didn't make financial sense for them. But another Hyundai dealer was willing to make the deal and earn my business. If another Hyundai dealer could sell me a higher-trim vehicle at that price, then Safford simply wasn't willing to be competitive enough to earn the sale. James could have simply said, "I can't match that price." Instead, after telling me my expectations were unrealistic and that I should be shopping for a different class of vehicle, his response came across as condescending, rude, and defensive when another dealer actually earned my business. I gave Safford Hyundai Manassas a legitimate opportunity to sell me a car. They chose not to. Another Hyundai dealer did, and ultimately sold me a higher-level vehicle for over $6,000 less than Safford's best offer. I genuinely liked James during my initial visit, which makes the way this ended even more disappointing. I don't expect a dealership to accept every offer I make. I do expect to be treated respectfully when I'm negotiating in good faith and prepared to buy. I would strongly recommend against purchasing from Safford Hyundai Manassas. I certainly won't ever purchase from James Kenney or Safford again. I have screenshots of the text conversations referenced above and can provide them if any of these events are disputed.

We were…read moreboth fortunate to find in this dealership three outstanding individuals who helped us find a great car. The individuals were - Medhat, Joon and Robert. When I reached out to speak with someone in sales I was connected to Medhat. Medhat took the call and was very professional in discussing our needs first on the phone then in the dealership. I have Parkinson's and find it difficult to deal with stress and pressure. Joon came over to us and introduced himself and told us he and Medhat would make the deal work, and it did. Medhat worked with Joon to put together a package that would work for us. We felt no pressure and had been given the time and space to make our decision. Once we selected the car and agreed upon the pricing we were introduced to Robert, the Finance guy. At this point usually we know that other dealerships pressure their customers into packages that may never be used. Robert listened to us and gave us what we needed for the car. We left the dealership with the right car, at the right price. We recommend anyone who desires a new or used car that you should visit Joyce Koons Honda in Manassas VA. Thank you guys and I am sure we will work with you again.
