I've been using RRT for a few years now to service my 2018 X3 M40, and won't take it anywhere else. James and his team are extremely knowledgeable about BMWs and do exceptional work. For example, they've diagnosed problems and risks before the local dealers have and didn't do any pressure sales. Just a heads up and watch item, with occasional suggestions about what to do, even including DIY options. More recently I had an adaptive headlight fail. Where the dealer would have wanted a full new OEM replacement at their labor rates, James and team took a lot of time and care to identify the root cause, isolated the issue, and found quality used parts to use and saved me thousands in the process. And they were giving almost daily updates on their progress and findings. Great group of folks. Sure, you can get some strong performance additions from the shop and no doubt they're great at it, but don't overlook them for fixes and other needs. I made the mistake of trusting another shop in the immediate area with doing an alignment on my car. The owner of shop told me about how great his alignment machine was, but I overlooked the fact that though the machine is important, so is the knowledge and expertise of the person conducting the alignment. So after the shop screwed-up the alignment on my car, I took it to RRT. It was my first experience with the shop and given their visible focus and history with BMW vehicles, coupled with a visible focus and experience in road racing, I thought this would be a good decision. Thankfully, I was absolutely correct. I worked with Michael and had an appointment for 8am. By a little after 9am, the car was done and the work was exceptional. Additionally, the cost of the alignment was both very competitve and a great value, given the quality of their work and what I was quoted by other shops in the area. In short, if you have a BMW, I would recommend this shop without hesitation for alignment work. I have a 1995 eagle talon, i had a lot of issues with the car prior to bringing it to RRT it seemed like a constant battle of trying to get the talon running right. I was really beginning to lose hope and it was very discouraging. I decided to bring the car to RRT after seeing many successful builds leave RRT. Upon meeting raif/owner we went over the car and he noticed many things right away that could potentially have been hazardous. In a short period of time he got the car on the lift and he fixed everything. Then the car went straight to the dyno. Needless to say, i was very pleased with how successful the car turned out and how they paid attention to detail when working on the car. In other words, my car went from breaking down every ten minutes to driving home with not one issue for a 2 hour drive. This car will not be in the hands of anyone besides RRT. Also, ryan his shop employee is one of the most respectful, caring and accommodating of any shop i've been too. RRT and James were wonderful to work with to make various repairs on our 2015 BMW X5 35d! We originally took our car to our local dealer because our front passenger door had a minor leak and we thought it would be covered under warranty (spoiler, it was not), which resulted in an almost $10K repair bill because they found other items and were generally charging a hefty amount. We did some research for shops specializing in BMW since we had to get our sunroof drains unclogged as well as our vapor barrier replaced, neither of which are straightforward. Long story short, I asked RRT for a quote, which they quickly provided without even seeing the vehicle (which several other shops wouldn't do) and it was reasonable, so we went with them. They completed the sunroof drain unclogging, vapor barrier replacement, topped off DEF (and helped us figure out we may not have gotten the services we paid for from our dealer a couple weeks prior in the process), replaced our CV boot, and did our front brakes all in less than a day. James was great to work with and the tech we briefly spoke to was also great! Additionally, after hours drop off and pick up are extremely convenient. We plan on also taking our Audi S3 here for work in the future since they also have an Audi tech and James is very honest and will refer folks to an Audi specific shop if it's beyond their comfort zone. RRT has taken care of my BMW 550 x-drive and now the M240 x-drive I own. I have always been very impressed with their knowledge of all BMWs and the customer care they have exhibited. RRT has serviced and added Dinan upgrades to both vehicles. The last Dinan upgrade was a midpipe. Unfortunately the part did not fit and even a second unit sent by a Dinan did not fit and hung too low to the ground. The RRT guys were not happy with the fit and returned them to Dinan and secured my credit. They then fabricated a custom midpipe and it fits and sounds perfect. They also acknowledged the time I have spent going back and forth to the shop and did not charge me for the midpipe they made. I was not expecting that!! I will never take my car anywhere else!! Man oh man I wish I had found this place sooner. I love these guys. Every last person who works there is charming, caring and thoughtful. They certainly know their way around race modifications on BMWs. I had a botched job from another local shop that needed immediate attention before a long trip. I called them up and they were cheerful about fitting me into their already busy schedule the very next day. They called me and discussed, at length, and in detail, every last thing they found, what they thought about it, their recommendation, and they answered my every question. I was very impressed. They conduct business like a car repair place would if it was owned by a close family member who cared about treating you right. There were a number of complications due to my previous work, and my time schedule. They even did my alignment on their day off and waited around for me to pick up the car. Unfortunately Budget screwed up the trailer rental so I made them rush for nothing. I apologized but they would hear nothing of it. They were the ones who realized over the phone that the trailer was wrong and even offered to make it work. I decided to have Budget swap it out to a better trailer. They were able to tell me ahead of time what kind of tie down straps I would need in addition to those supplied with the trailer. when I did finally show up to trailer my car, they specially fabricated some items to fit my lowered car properly to the trailer without causing damage. Then they strapped it down for me. I can't say enough good things about my experience. Without a doubt one of the premiere automotive shops in the DMV. While I traditionally enjoy Do-It-Yourself work on my E46, for everything else, I've taken it here and wouldn't take it anywhere else. They double check my work and setup absolutely perfect alignments, among other things. I routinely have been asked by folks on the forums to share my alignment data sheets so they can "copy" them. Alex, Wayne and the mechanics are incredibly knowledgeable and are great resources to have even when not in the shop; just to call and ask advice from. These guys are not the cheapest, but after having gone to the cheapest thinking I was saving, it is 100% worth it to go to a place that actually cares about and knows what they are doing. The Fellas at RRT are really good at what they do. They have taken my E46 M3 and have turned it into a flat out Beast!!! I originally was recommended by one of my customers at my tint shop who is BMW enthusiast and I took him up on his suggestion to get an alignment done. Wow, is all I can say!! I used to take it into the dealer all the time because I couldn't believe the tire wear that would happen over 8k miles. I mean really I would eat thru a set of tires at 350 a piece like it was nothing. Well not no more!!! FINALLY! Then after talking to them about many options to make the car quicker I inquired about just Supercharging it. A couple days later we were coming home from work and oddly pulled up to a light at the same time....it only seemed natural to try this race again. But I took it easy and kinda let her take a early start. BIG MISTAKE!!! She took me and I couldn't walk her down. Well the next day she started bragging to customers at the shop about how her car took mine and this and that. Well that's all it took. I'm making the call to the boys of RRT and will do what I really wanted to do. SUPERCHARGE the M3 !!!!! I went in make a deposit on it they ordered it up and the following week my car had an appointment to have it installed. I brought my Lamborghini Huracan OEM wheels to have new tires mounted, after researching that they use a "touch-less" tire mounting machine. The tech ended up chipping one of my wheels and refused to man up and admit to it. I brought in these wheels in mint condition with no damage to them, and after inspecting them, a quarter-sized chip was found on the outer wheel. Both the owner (James) and the tech said the damage probably came when I was transporting the wheels back (bullshit), but any knowledgeable auto tech would see that there is no way that could have happened from transporting the wheels. I had cardboard in between the wheels and with enough space in my X5, there is no way such deep chip could have happened from rubbing. They also charged an extra $40 to replace tire valves to match with my wheels, which I did not even approve of. I'm disappointed in their service and unfortunately will not be going back. read more

I had my recently acquired BMW 2004 ZHP 330i sedan serviced by RRT and I couldn't be more pleased. Last week they evaluated the entire car and prepared a detailed quote for future maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. Over the week, I corresponded daily via email to Mike. He responded to every email within a few hours and was thorough, honest, and fair. Yesterday they completed a coolant system overhaul with a new radiator and replaced a wheel bearing which was making an awful throbbing sound. They aren't cheap, but they are fair and most of all they are experts in BMW. 85% of the cars they service are BMWs. I knew they would do a top notch job. The provide 10% OEM parts discount for BMWCCA members. You can bring after market parts for a higher labor charge. They also have a comfortable waiting area with nice chairs, free Keurig coffee and sodas, and a large TV playing car shows like chasing classic cars. Took my E60 M5 for random misfiring code, bank 1-5. Took it to bmc automotive, who stared my valve spring on cylinder 8 broke and the piston ended up hitting the cylinder and I need engine. Car was in a limp mode but nothing suggested that the engine was malfunctioning. So I took the bmw of fairfax, who quoted me 4,000 to fix the problem. I brought the car back home after paying 2 diagnostics fee, still in a limp mode. Decided to reach out to RRT for an advice. After reviewing the code, they suggested I change the spark plug and the coils. Once the coils and sparks were replaced, the car was still misfiring. BMW suggested I get a new battery and pay them 2 hours if labor to install it. Didn't make much sense since I have the obd2 reader to reset the program the battery. Got the new battery, but the car was still misfiring. Finally decided to bring it into RRT after speaking to Mike about the issue. They called me an hour later and said the car was fixed and short circuit on coil 5 was causing the misfire. They could have easily tried to get over on me like the other shops and try to replace the engine or quote me something crazy. They only charged me for the diagnostics. Which was $120. I am grateful to have brought my car into RRT. read more

Called in about issues with my 2008 335i (Limp Mode). Was able to diagnose, offer a quote and perform the job to my satisfaction. Spent 3 months trying to get this issue fixed at my local BMW dealer (who lied and took my money without fixing the actual issues) but the guys @ RRT found the actual problem, fixed it and the car is running like it just left the Production Line. And shout out to Alex who's been helping me from day 1. Great shop, not cheap (it is a BMW after all), but if you want the work done right and correctly the first time this is the place to go. These guys are good, no doubt. But you need to check their work since I recently replaced the pre-cat o2 sensors myself on my E46 and noticed they did not screw in any of the cabin filter housing screws, last time they took it off to replace the valve cover gasket! Just a precaution, because lack of attention to details like this could lead to lack of attention to details of more critical parts. Can you imagine if they hadn't screw in all the bolts of the valve cover ??? read more

Absolutely love this place. They do top notch work, explain everything very well, deliver when they say they will, and always seem to under-charge on the labor time -- plus they give a discount to BMWCCA members. I had my car in and they told me the alternator was bad. Being under warranty still, I wanted to see if the dealer would cover it. When I picked up my car at RRT they gave me printouts of all of the diagnostics they ran so I could show the dealer. On another occasion, I asked them to diagnose a potential problem with the SMG pump after a dealer told me they couldn't find the issue but I'd likely be looking at a $6K bill if problems persisted. RRT found that a much cheaper part was failing and the SMG pump was fine, which saved me thousands of $$$. They're a bit out of the way and don't have loaners. But if your car is going to be there all day, the Enterprise on Indian Creek Dr will pick you up. read more

I had an odd situation where my 335i failed VA state inspection due to headlights being aimed too low and I brought it to them to check it out. I have been a customer for the past couple of years and will continue to take my car here as long as I own it. They have done extensive work on my vehicle including, the installation of a new high-performance exhaust, suspension tuning, brake work, diagnostics, and correct cooling system leak, worked out a few kinks with my doors, and they have a guy who does paintless dent removal for them who I'm convinced is a wizard! I almost could not believe it was the same car (both cosmetically and mechanically) after they worked their magic. Prices are generally higher than most places, but less than the dealer. RRT is the best place to go to if you need your BMW looked after. I have taken my car for repairs before and had an excellent experience, but let me tell you about my recent experience last Friday August 31, 2018. I took my BMW 435I Gran Coupe to them thinking the rear bearings are making a loud roaring noise, and was told the tires are making the noise and not the bearings, therefore repair is not required. Mike didn't even charge for diagnostic. I have never heard of that. Mike and Alex take their time to explain the issue and provide repair estimates without overselling a repair that is not required. I had my e36 m3 auto transmission fluid drained and filled with filter change. They also opened my jammed convertible lid without costing me much. These guys are very knowledgeable and honest. They had answers for all my questions in finger tips. I think their numbers are true to value, they don't give you some crazy numbers. I generally check costs with at least 3 to 4 shops and read forums before handing my keys to the mechanic. I also saw some BMW indie shops with more reviews in yelp but their prices are twice these guys. read more

I brought my CLK BS to RRT under a friend's recommendation. They didn't disappoint. Mike and Wayne and their team did a great job installing the parts, and did a great corner balance and alignment. When the ride changed significantly afterwards, they worked on the problem carefully and even did shock dyno tuning for me. The car is better sorted now. They are a full race shop with very knowledgeable staff. They're here to help you go faster on the track, not to sell you things just to make a profit.
