2015 Corvette Stingray Z51, 3LT, w/ 40k miles Truly awful service experience from Corvette Motorsports and Joe (the owner). DO NOT take your Corvette here! I picked up my car from Corvette Motorsports on May 1, 2020. Services I had performed included: Replace front brake pads and rotors, brake fluid exchange, replace coil #5 and spark plugs, transmission fluid exchange, and replace all 4 shocks. Price quoted was fair and Joe came off as knowledgeable via email initially. After picking up my car and beginning my drive back home to DC, I expressed via phone call to Joe that there was an extremely loud rattle coming from the rear left of the car during my drive home. There was also a large scratch on my leather dash that was not present before dropping my car off with Joe. I've attached the picture for reference. There were also boot scuff marks on the inside door panels. To this, Joe responded, "Mystery to me...All I did inside was drive the car..One hand on the wheel, the other on the shifter..Try some cleaner on it perhaps it's just a smudge of something." As far as the rattling, Joe expressed that he didn't know anything about it, but he'd be happy to take a look as he offers a "12 month/12k warranty" on all of his work. I knew during my drive home there was no way I could possibly bring the car back to Joe, warranty or no warranty. He had clearly proven himself an incompetent/incapable mechanic by handing me back a car that sounded like it was going to fall apart ($3,800 later), leather damage included in that price.. I needed to take my car to an actual CERTIFIED Corvette technician. Never making that mistake again... Once getting back to DC, I decided to drop the car off at Jack Winegardner Chevrolet that same day to get a second set of eyes on the work performed. I've attached their invoice for reference that details exactly what they found... "Customer states rattle coming from left rear while driving (Customer states struts and shocks replaced at another facility) Performed diagnosis, checked suspension, nothing loose. Removed left rear interior panel, found clips not secure, clips and retainers missing. Reinstalled clips, retainers, reinstalled panels, NOISE REMAINED. RECHECKED SUSPENSION. FOUND TOP BOLTS AT 35 FOOT POUNDS. SPECS ARE 74 FOOT POUNDS. RETORQUED REAR SUSPENSION. COMPLETED RETORQUE ON SUSPENSION AND RETEST. RESOLVED CUSTOMER CONCERN." Labor: $420. It turns out the shocks were not installed and torqued to specs (74 foot pounds) by Corvette Motorsports, thus causing the rattling! It took the dealership 4 hrs to pinpoint the cause of the rattle, but I'm glad they did! The service manager at Jack Winegardner Chevrolet recommended I forward the invoice to Corvette Motorsports and should be able to receive a $420 credit since they did not perform the services properly and to spec. Joe, of course, declined, and stated his "warranty" as the reason. Joe's "12 month warranty" and "fair" prices hold ZERO water when he doesn't actually know how to service your car to spec! He torqued my shocks down to only HALF the foot pounds they required! Maybe he is better with C6 and older corvettes? Certainly, don't even think about taking a C7 to Joe! This is not his field of expertise. On top of it all, the scratches in my leather dash and scuffs on the door show a general lack of attention to detail and carelessness. Again, prices appear fair, but TAKE YOUR CORVETTE ELSEWHERE! You truly get what you pay for here. Avoid the frustration, lost time, and future expenses of the incomplete work. read more

Had my 2006 corvette at the local automotive shop a few years back for some basic maintenance repairs. Was told at that time that my left side axle seal was leaking. They told me it would be about $800+ to have both the left and right seals replaced. I asked why they would need to replace both when only the one side was leaking. However, before addressing my question, they indicated that it really didn't matter as they didn't have a mechanic who could actually do this type of work. This was a wake-up call for me, and I needed to find a reliable and knowledgeable corvette mechanic ASAP. As I refused to go to a dealership for any corvette repairs, my research led me to the highly recommended Corvette Motorsports in Chantilly, VA. Spoke with Joe, the owner, and told him about my axle problem. He knew exactly what the problem was and explained that it was a noted problem with the C6s. He did the work at a very reasonable rate, and I was quite pleased with the entire effort. To date, Joe has replaced the harmonic balancer and the dreaded shifter assembly on my corvette. All work was performed in a timely manner and Joe guarantees his work. He also told me to give him a call anytime if I have any questions about my C6. I brought my 1999 C5 to Joe and he looked the car over and spent 2 days with the car. The car had a couple of problems that needed to be addressed but was in a drivable state and with 97000 miles may not be worth putting a lot of money in. When I came in to discuss the situation, Joe went on a test drive with me and explained that the car was probably not worth fixing and to just keep driving it as is. He could have easily sold me on a job or two. He was so open and honest about everything that I felt that I owed him for his time and when I asked him "what do I owe you ?" he said "nothing...I didn't fix anything". I couldn't believe it. I didn't have a good experience here. I wish I would have looked at the other reviews around the internet first. You pay a premium price here for what looks like a one man operation. Needless to say, Joe appears very well versed in Corvettes. He is very blunt and direct so be ready. His communications and updates were great. Now to why I'm un-happy... I was having issues to where the original wiring harness needed to be changed. I asked if he could take pictures, because I document everything I do to my Vette. He was unable as he doesn't own a camera. I asked for all parts to be returned including the old fuse block. The front turn signal was replaced and that was the only part that was returned. The center console had to be replaced because of a missing support, I did not get that returned. I have lambo doors on my Vette and he understood the directions to operate them properly. I had paint chips on both doors when returned. I then noticed the seatbelts were dirty where he was sitting in the car and working, along with the door panel where the door pull is on the driver side. I have a hidden kill switch to disable the ignition to help keep it from getting stolen. The switch wasn't lit when I dropped it off, now the secret switch is lit up. I also had a lighted electric fan switch where I can reach it. This was relocated on the kick panel right next to my clutch and is now no longer lighted. I can't tell when it is on or off now when my foot accidently hits it. The speakers in the rear were left unhooked and for me to resolve. I run a cable to my stereo hole to hook my iPhone up to my amp. The iPhone adapter is now gone and I had to disassemble the kick panel to get my cable run back over to my opening. I had my wires and vacuum hoses re-routed through my fender well, inside a protective tube to clean up the engine compartment. He was unable to run the new harness through the tube I had, so it was agreed to just run it normally. No problem, except he also re-routed my vacuum lines, removed my tube inside the fender well, then mounted the horn relay in the opening where he removed the tube...this would have allowed water to drench my horn relay if I got caught in the rain. The master cylinder cap hold downs were painted when I dropped it off, by the time he was done, I had to strip and re-paint them. Here is why I'm even posting this review..... When I got the Vette back, the top of the steering wheel was floppy. At some point he broke it, most likely getting the dash out or having to push the car around in the shop. He denied he could have done it. It's not a he said, she said kind of thing, I know it wasn't broken when I brought it in. It is dangerous to drive at this point. This is the ONLY thing I asked to be resolved out of everything. I was happy to settle for a replacement wheel and I would install it myself. This was not to be.... You can tell his background as a Service Manager, deny everything that costs the shop a loss. Needless to say, I had quite a few Vette friends that have been looking to get work done on theirs...I was the test subject. The steering wheel was the only thing I complained about out of everything. That ended up being a costly item to the shop in repeat and referral business from myself and friends. Had the total interior (carpet, seat covers, headliner, weather strips, and several switches) replaced on my 1985 C4 Corvette. Also he found and repaired reason for engine surge that my local repair shop could not determine why. All of the work Joe did was top notch and I feel that his costs charged was very reasonable and fair. During the whole process Joe kept me informed of progress and any additional replacements he recommended as well as a couple that I requested that he said didn't need replaced after he cleaned the original parts up. I have dealt with Corvette Motorsports for about 7 years restoring my Corvette's suspension, engine, exhaust, wiring, intake, interior, stereo, HVAC, distributor, brakes, etc. All parts used were correct for that model year and have performed exactly as quoted ever since; no returns. I see a one star review here and kind of laugh at the comments about the owner being blunt. I call this honest and direct; did someone get their feelings hurt? I have been in and around garages my whole life, since my father was a mechanic for 30 years and I grew up with cars and the people who work on them. If you are used to the dealer and need your hand held, a warm gentle smile with your coffee & cream, then go to the dealer and get that while your Corvette gets incorrectly diagnosed and ultimately incorrectly repaired; if at all. It's next to impossible to find any of these kids who can even work on a carburetor any more or vacuum headlamp assemblies. Yeah, right!
