On March 29, 2018, Mr. Bliss Foster, owner of All American Waterproofing Company, 2550 Fairburn Rd., S. W., Atlanta, Ga.,
30031, came to my home to talk with me about waterproofing my basement because rain water had seeped into 2 rooms.
Mr. Foster and I agreed on what needed to be done and he gave
me a written contract listing procedures to be done, which we both signed. I agreed to pay $5800 for the job to be done, which was over twice what other contractors proposed. Mr. Foster assured me that his work would be far superior and more efficient than the other companies who had given me proposals.
The workers, supervised by Rusty, began work in my home the
following week. They folded up the wet carpet and padding on top of the clean, dry carpet in the room needing the waterproofing and left it on the floor. Three weeks later, the wet carpet and padding were still folded up in that room. Rusty and a crew were here 2 weeks ago and I asked him what he planned to do about the wet carpet and padding. He said it needed to be laid out flat so it could all dry out. He told me not to worry because he would take care of that. I also told him that Mr. Foster had said if it was dirty from the mud and rain seeping in, they could possibly use a carpet cleaning machine on it. Rusty said he would need to ask Mr. Foster what he should do. At approximately 2 p.m., I was standing out on my patio watching them and the entire crew left without saying a word to me. I was trying to talk with Rusty and he walked off saying he had to let the other truck out of my driveway. I did not know he too was leaving.
I had been promised for the third time that the electrician would be
here between 8 - 8:30 a.m. to do the electrical work for the sump pump. He never came or called. Again, I called the office of All
American and was told the electrician would be here around noon.
Of course, he never came or called to say he wasn't coming. Again,
I called the office and was told he would be here in an hour or so.
He showed up at 2:30 p.m. and completed the electrical work.
The crew from All American did not come back to my home the following week to finish the job nor advise me how to plan my schedule for that week. They have been very uninformative and have given me incorrect information as to the scheduling of my work. I was told to call the office again the next Monday morning to see if/when they would come back. My baseboards had not been replaced, the newly painted walls are scratched from where they pulled up the carpet, etc. and the wet carpet was still folded up with the wet padding which wet the dry and clean existing carpet.
I had spoken with Mr. Foster's assistant, Marcus, by phone, and expressed my overall concerns with the work his crew was doing. He said he would be out here that week and discuss certain concerns with me. I found out that he came by and actually installed the sump pump but did not let me know he was here. I could not stand out where they were working all afternoon because of the smoke/dust caused by the jack hammers removing the concrete.
As of April 30, 2018, the carpet and wet padding were still folded
up on the floor, the scratched walls are still there, there are no
baseboards and the entire room is beginning to smell. Mr. Foster sent
a painter to my home to look at the damages and he was to come
back on April 30 to do the repair work. He told me he would be here
at 3:00 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. after waiting here for him, I called to ask what time he would be here. He told me he could not come today or
tomorrow because of other commitments. He did not even have the common decency, courtesy or manners to let me know he wasn't coming today at all. On the afternoon of May 4, 2018, the painter/woodworking person came for a short while. He said he would be back Saturday to continue the work. On Monday, May 7, and he had not been back, had not called and was unable to be reached by phone. Again Mr. Foster said he would do what he could to find the painter, etc. A painter finally came and painted 2 walls in the room.
The back of my house also needed to be painted because when these
people used the jack hammer to remove the concrete, they let it
spatter against the painted brick which knocked off most of the paint
that was there. I had to hire a painter to do this work because Mr. Foster would not allow his painter to do the work even though the damages had been done by his employees. The person who put a new strip of carpet padding and laid the carpet back did not stretch it enough and left a 1 inch gap between the edge of the carpet and the wall. The next week I found razor blades and carpet staples in my driveway which had to be removed by my yard service.
For the amount of money I have been charged, I expected more
cooperation on the part of All American Waterproofing and their
employees. From the owner down to the laborers, this experience has been an absolute nightmare. read more
