Dropped my pet off early in my dropoff window at 7:30 AM. My pet was not seen for at least 6 hours while other emergencies were prioritized. It felt like everything was rush done and reviewed when I showed up to pick my pet up at the designated time. It took almost an hour to "pick up" my pet. Some of the staff seemed indifferent. I have used DR Akins for more than 20 years. He is a terrific vet and always goes above and beyond for the animals in his care.

So I never write reviews, in fact, this is the first time I've ever written a review, but I feel like people should know. If you're coming here, the doctor Mike is very funny very friendly and if he's not their your out of luck However the real problem is, the staff itself at the front desk always really rude been going here for three years never bothered me but I finally had enough. Sometimes they're borderline rude and unprofessional. Always puts you on hold and treat you poorly if you try to dispute the claim to be put on hold they take forever not to mention they truly up charge you so many services. Your pet doesn't even need this really can put stress on a pet when it is not necessary and could be avoided. (Took my dog to a second location just to have a different opinion) which verified that the issues were different. Not to mention the doctors are not always there so it leaves you with limited choices of when one can take your pet in. The nurses are not great have poor bedside demeanor, and they do not seem to know how to properly diagnose. Not to mention the services are pretty pricey for what they offer. And they will always try to add on more than necessary. Being honest the concept how much a person should spend on a vet never occurred to me that it was ridiculously high until I went somewhere else and I paid less than half of what I paid here. With a better demeanor as well and a more thoroughly diagnosed appointment Places that deal with people daily should have a more hospitable demeanor And after looking at all the reviews, it is clear that this is a reoccurring problem for years that has not been fixed that has been promised to be fixed, and that will most likely never be fixed. Everyone from the receptionist, to the front desk, to the doctor and nurses were so amazing. I cannot say enough good things. We had to take our wee little hamster in for a visit because he seemed to be in pain, and unfortunately the prognosis was not good. Everyone was so patient with my daughter (it's her hamster), and so kind and welcoming, and just very sensitive to the situation that can be tough on a little one. My dog has been coming here since birth. She has had a hernia surgery here, been spayed here and had her annual check ups. We should have stopped coming when we learned they never let you in an exam room with your pet, or maybe when they left stitches inside our dogs abdomen and they had to remove them after we complained, only to deny they performed a second procedure, and refused to take any blame. Today though, they tried to charge us $511 (our biggest bill to date) for my dog's annual vaccines. By comparison, Petco charges $79.00 for the same service. Instead, this company tried to up sell us without any warning or notification, and added a bunch of unnecessary services, when we specifically made an appointment for annual shots and a nail trim. The girl Assigned to us was rude, unhelpful, unapologetic, and we will never be back. You've been warned people! On top the that, every time I've ever been in there (which was many times) it smelled very strongly of pee. read more

Would give negative stars if I could. This veterinarian allowed two of my cats that were boarded there escape. He then was consistently difficult to deal with and resistant to reaching out for help from Animal Control. After 6 days, a police report and a call to the District Attorney, Animal Control officers were allowed to set better traps at the office. This was my first visit to All Creatures. I was a little nervous with my new puppy. The customer rep and tech were absolutely wonderful. The paperwork wasn't ridiculous as they fully explained the potential services that would be done on the visit. The veterinarian was pleasant and answered all my questions. Did not rush in and out. Beware all they care about is charging you fees. They do not care about your animal. After 5+ years and over $3,000 in charges this vet cancelled my dog's heart worm medication without notice and would not do anything to help. These folks were never kind or courteous but they are now downright rude and only care about charging high fees. I had to call 5 times and it still took 3 days to get a return call (which they then called the wrong number). Because of this I had to take my dog to an emergency hospital to get a test to get a prescription in time for the medication to not lapse in protection. It is very telling that the weekend emergency animal hospital visit cost was less than half the cost of seeing All Creatures on a weekday. read more

I have been taking my pet bird to All Creatures since 2003. I am very disappointed in their services offered. When I have a question, I'm often told they would get back with me but often fail to. My most recent issue is I tried to order prescription bird food through them over 2 weeks ago and still haven't received. The staff told me they are unable to track the order. I asked for an alternate food source and they could not give me an answer. The only thing they offered was to write me a bird food prescription and shop around other places for it. I can not recommend All Creatures at this time for any of your pet services and care. They are also overprices on their bird boarding services. Dr. Mike is amazing. I've known him for over 3 years now and he sees all of animals. I have a dog, a macaw, sugar gliders and a cat. He explains everything to me when my animals are having issues and he's always done such a great job with them. My dog, Georgia, absolutely LOVES Dr. Mike and the staff. She gets so excited when we pull up to the vet. He handles her so well. She's very hyper so he sits on the floor with her and rubs her tummy to calm her down. Gabbie is also amazing. Between the long line of recent 1 star reviews, my experience, and what I saw from other people, I don't honestly know how they're still in business. I only needed to buy some food... pretty simple, right? Well, it's a combination of how I saw their staff interact with other patients, and my horrible experience, that makes me concerned for other animals. There was a dog there for boarding (a ~10 lb ankle biter), and they said that when they tried to take the food away from it, it got aggressive and tried to bite them. The staff made a much larger deal out of it than they needed to and forced the owner to sign an aggressive animal policy. I'm standing there in disbelief watching this. Certainly not handled professionally. (Lesson 1 - don't disturb an animal when it's eating.) This tells me their staff isn't properly trained, nor has any common sense. The waiting room is dirty. Not really bad like piles of crap all around... the dirt that accumulates over a decade or two and just never gets cleaned well. It's the kind of dirt that makes me question how well anything in the back is actually kept clean. Back to my point. I needed a bag of food. I bought one, ordered one more, and thought that was it. (They insisted on getting my email address, and it took me 2 weeks to get off their daily spam emails.) I was told I'd be called in a week when it arrived. After 10 days I called inquiring about it, and they said it was on backorder and would be in the follwoing week. So I called back another 10 days later and they said it was in. I guess their phones don't make outgoing calls... Then I get there and they jack the price up by over 250%. I walked out and didn't buy it. Some are horrible at communicating to people and calling back. The woman i spoke to was unbelievably rude and i cant stand the fact that i dont know whats happening or how he is doing. However, I will say that they are very quick with communication and updates when your dog is sickly. My puppy has ammonia and he has a 50/50 chance and they sent him quickly to a pet hospital and he is getting every treatment he can and they have been incredibly helpful. read more

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET TO THIS CLINIC Unfortunately my wife and I dropped both our rats (one for for a tumor removal consultation and her sister for moral support. I called multiple times before to try to have the surgery same day as the consult and first time I was told yes if there's time, second time I was told that it's not possible. So hesitantly, my wife got Tofu there at 7:30 for check in and stayed in the area until 1 waiting for her. Still not ready. They took lunch instead of taking 30 seconds to look at the large lemon sized tumor on my small rat. So I called and asked to speak to the office manager but was told she won't be in the office for a month so the doctor called back and immediately with a noticeable attitude said he was calling because of some "drama" I told him my worries about my sensitive exotics being left in a cage for 6 hours surrounded by dogs barking and how she's still not ready. Especially since my wife to sign a waiver that said they might die due to stress this was extremely concerning. With a really rude tone he said that "as we've done for you before" you're to drop off and pickup at the end of day or whenever they're able to be seen. This has never happened in the past, I would've never agreed to leave my pet there especially since she wasn't even having her surgery, and would've simply found another vet. Still upset I asked if she's been seen yet and he said "yes, I left a pet under anesthesia and checked her before calling you, at cost to the pet thats waiting for surgery" and actually said the words "come pick this THING up" I am 1000% sure he rushed to check her before calling so he could respond with "well we already did what you asked so no" when I ask for a refund for horrible services (which he did. Word for word) I'm furious and refuse to come back for her surgery. Back to square one. Today I brought my new puppy in for a complimentary exam which was included upon purchase of my Cane Corso via Petland. I read the reviews prior to going but still decided to give this business the benefit of a doubt. Upon arrival I was greeted by an awesome receptionist. However the nurse who was assigned to my dog was very coy and slick at the mouth. As soon as she approached my puppy he growled which was the first time he has ever done that since I brought him 6 days ago. They always say dogs and babies can sense people with bad auras. Upon pick up the nurse was very rude and nearly scolded me because the puppy growled at her as if I commanded him to do so. She continued to speak to me like a child telling me that I need to make sure he is socialized and to tell him not to growl at people. Well lady I myself am getting to know my dog after having him for only 6 days and I take Him outside to the dog park and for walks everyday since owning him. Furthermore he is not the only dog in the house and I am well aware of what to do. I never met the doctor directly and no one advised me as to when to bring him back for his follow up care. All I was told is that he is not social as if he is a child recently diagnosed with ADHD, by someone with no patience. Well let's see if you have been in a pet store since birth for the last 13 weeks how long do you think it will take you to get acclimated to a new environment with loud noises and new people in a confined space. When I advised her that he has never growled at anyone since I took ownership of him , her response was hmm as if I was lying. How unprofessional!...mind you there were people in the waiting area who he didn't growl at and a nice customer who approached him and touched him and he melted at her touch so I'm not sure what he saw in the mean nurse but he definitely didn't like her! I'm keeping T light and really holding back on my experience it's just way to much to type but I will not go back. I currently have another dog under the VCA INSURANCE and the staff at the clinic are so nice and pleasant. And I actually get to meet the doctors who provide one on one sessions while examining your pet. We were referred to All Creatures Animal Hospital after moving to Atlanta by another vet, when one of our lizards became sick. We had some experience with reptiles before, and knew how these pets require specialists who understand their physiology- and thanked the referring vet for having advised us to go elsewhere. All Creatures' office is friendly and accommodating. The appointments are well-orchestrated, the front desk staff is really helpful, and the facility is clean. We ended up having some serious issues with the manner in which Drs. Akins handled our lizards' illnesses. Our bearded dragon had a swollen toe when we first brought him in. X-rays were done, and he was put on Baytril, an oral antibiotic. During the course of the treatment over the upcoming weeks, his condition became worse and worse. We began seeing bumps and hives on his skin, his appetite decreased, the claws on his foot fell out, and the toe which was at first swollen had become necrotic. We continued to go to All Creatures, and were told not to worry- as the antibiotics need a long time to take effect. Blood tests were then done after a few months, We ended up moving across the country to another state and took our dragon to a veterinary teaching hospital; where we were dismayed to learn that the infection was fungal, and had progressed far past the point of recovery. He had to be put down. We also had an African Fat-tailed Gecko which we brought in due to having lost his appetite and seeing blood in his stool. We were told by Dr Akins not to worry, that he was healthy and "needed to lose weight anyway". We brought him home, and made another appointment with All Creatures a week after seeing the symptoms becoming more severe and losing 20% of his weight. He was then given a stool test, and put on an anti-pinworm medicine. It was too late by then, and he died days later. At the end of the day, we lost two pets to bad practice. This could have been avoided if All Creatures had done the requisite testing at first. In our Bearded Dragon's case, the doctor at the teaching hospital asked why blood work hadn't been done earlier... we couldn't answer that. With our gecko, the doctor didn't do an examination at first and only took a visual look to say that he looked healthy. Exotic pets need special doctors, and I would advise anyone in the Atlanta area to not make the same mistake we did, and FULLY do their research before choosing where to take their pet reptile. read more

Brought in our new puppy for an initial visit and everything was fine. Two days later she was extremely sick so we brought her back and she received the same tests used for her initial visit and still got negative results (of course?). They said she 'might' have parasites and gave us medication for that. She still wasn't eating or pooping and we knew something was wrong so we found another vet in town and we took her in and they immediately said she was very sick and are doing further tests and hospitalizing her. Very upset that this wasn't caught sooner as we took her to All Creatures TWICE and only a fecal test was done. Was also unsatisfied with the customer service aspect. Do not recommend. Our puppy could have died had we not taken her somewhere else. read more

There's a lot I can say about this,place, but I will try to stick to facts and also limit the perception to be informative. Only to prevent someone from thinking this hospital is going to provide the best care. I may edit this to include more details when I have the strength to do so. What I will provide is that they treated a critical case when they should have released my pups care to a location with more support. From what I observed the location is understaffed and took an influx over a busy holiday weekend. They said he would be monitored every 3 to 4 hours. The prior veterinarian I went to suggest being fed every 2 hours. They said they would not do that, but would closely monitor and feed 3 to 4 times a day. With the monitoring of at least every 4 hours, I thought this would be okay with the iv. Then they call to state in the morning when they came back he didntmake it overnight and they are sorry I was under the impression of him being observed overnight. Apparently if it's not in writing they can change their mind and not inform you. This in my view is negligent. If they had informed me that they had changed the course of action in his care this would of allowed me an opportunity to relocate him sooner. I was robbed of my beloved puppy and a chance to give him 100% attentive care. This is not to test knowledge or skills this is them taking away a choice and wanting me to pay for services not fully rendered. Ask them how many pets are assigned to each doctor ,ask them details, get it in writing or better yet go somewhere you trust. There are friendly people there,there are skilled people there, but the communication is not as frequent as they have not enough staff to relay information in a timely fashion. I had visited other vets. I didn't return to those locations because they were places stating they didnt do overnight And daytime care, the very thing I needed for him. These are not small differences. Besides vaccinations think twice is my opinion. Another thing, I didn't buy my pet from Petland. My pup may or may not of made it, but he was not monitored the way I was told. Not guessed, told. It was the last question I asked the female technician when I last saw my puppy. DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE!!! They over charge and spring fees on you. When I came to drop my dog off they insisted on giving him flea and tick medicine in order to stay. On Sunday when I got my dog back he had a seizure, and then another two Friday. I called because I looked up the medication they gave him and it's known to caused seizures and they brushed me off and said it wasn't anything to do with what they gave him. They didn't care to even ask if he's ok, they just continued to be rude and argue that it wasn'ttheir fault!!! No care at all for my dogs well being whatsoever. This place disgusts me. read more

Good riddance! Been waiting to write a review for this place! We were first introduced to All Creatures by Petland, Dunwoody where we got our pup. It's our first pet, so naturally, we went here as recommended. Over the past 3 years that we have been coming here, the following were the issues. 1) On our first visit, we were recommended a food brand that is actually not that healthy. This shows that they're more about financial gain than anything because I'm sure they get something extra by the brand. This was very small to dismiss and we did our own research and switched over to Blue Buffalo right away. 2) Anesthesia shot?... All Creatures recommended that we do surgery on our dog's mouth as one of her tooth was trapped underneath the gum so they wanted to make a slit to let it out. Okay, we agreed and on the day of the surgery, they declined to do the surgery, as they found out that the tooth was backwards and can be more harmful to grow it out than let nature take its course. That's totally fine, but they still charged me for $250 anesthesia? So do they put the dog to sleep for the X-ray? Even if so, I would think the cost should have been reduced as they did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING but waste my time and $$$! 3) Heart guard medicine... So not sure if this is actually mandatory but we have been recommended to get this since we got our pup. That's fine, but every time we order from All Creatures, there's been a delay in delivery. Our dog is an indoor dog, so even the delay was acceptable, but on top of that, we had to go get the medicine from All Creatures EVERY TIME, even though we have specifically worked with the front desk staff to get it delivered directly to our house. Even worse, we have to do follow up calls to even track it down to find out that it's been delivered to the vet, not our house. You would think they would give you a call in this instance, but no... With frustration, I did blow up last time and the guy at the front desk did try to make this right and got it delivered to our house, but still with delays from the vendor and when I called the vet, one of the ladies at the front desk had me on hold and never picked up the call. I have no words... even writing this at this moment makes me angry. 4) Quarterly check up... This was the last draw... Recently, All creatures "added" quarterly check up. Don't bother because it's a waste of time and $. We waited to see the doctor and all she did was give our dog a nice long stretch... and that was it, our dog is in good condition. I do that every morning for free... Again, it shows that All Creatures is just out for the $$$. After all this, I think I was fairly generous giving this place 3 stars. 3 stars for 3 years of taking care of my dog's health, whether it was good or bad experience. But definitely would not recommend this place and I'm thrilled we have found a new place that is CARING and ORGANIZED. read more

This veterinary clinic has been in the same location since I was a small child, so when my husband and I bought a house near the Dunwoody area I assumed it must be good. I took our kitty here for his first yearly appointment after we moved. Sadly, I was not impressed. First of all, I was told that my cat (who is admittedly a chubbo) was "morbidly obese" and needed to be given special prescription diet food. Please believe me when I say that my poor rating of this place is not a scorned pet-owner's attempt at revenge. We had already placed out cat on diet food based on the recommendation of our previous vet clinic, and he had lost the amount of weight recommended by the vet there. That vet had told us that our cat was probably built to be big, but needed to get down to 15 lbs in order to avoid a risk of heart disease. This vet wanted him to lose like another 5 lbs! He is a large, male black cat and I'm pretty sure he is not built to weigh 10 lbs. However, that really wasn't the kicker. Additionally, the prices at this clinic were one and a half to two times higher than at our old clinic. I might have been willing to accept this as a cost of moving from a clinic in Lilburn to a clinic in Dunwoody, except that I feel that they were trying to get us to pay for things we didn't need. Besides the expensive prescription food, we were told that our cat needed a full tooth-cleaning immediately due to severe tartar buildup. Because I didn't like the pushiness of the staff and also didn't have the money at the time, I waited a month or two and then took my kitty back to his old clinic in Lilburn to request that they do the cleaning instead. The vet there seemed confused and said that there was no reason for him to need a cleaning at that time--his teeth were fine. In conclusion, I feel that All Creatures exaggerated (and maybe even outright lied in the case of the tooth cleaning) about the severity of the issues my cat had. The only reasonable explanation I can offer is that they wanted to milk me for extra money. I would not recommend this place. Between this and my later bad experience with Pets Are People too, my husband and I have decided it's worth the hassle and extra gas to just go back to driving out to Lilburn to have our cat's checkups done there every year. read more

When I first got my Boston Terrier I took him to All Creatures. I was not notified until almost two months later that he had worms. No one called me. I did not find out about the worms until I called about getting my puppy on heart worm prevention. 6 months later, I have moved out of state and All Creatures denied a prescription I placed on chewy.com because it's time for a "annual check up" but his annual checkup would be in December. Also, they take your dog in the back and give them the shots, and nail clippings. Regardless, this place will never see another penny from me. read more

My beagle had anal gland problems for several years before I was directed to a sergeant for removing them ... so glad I found this place. Dr. Mike took my beagle into his own home for recovery just in case anything urgent came up during the night. Since the surgery we have been taking our dogs for yearly checkups and boarding. They have very competitive prices and tell me the exact cost of service before I drop them off. Highly recommend it to anyone in the area. This place ripped me off. First visit. They said my bunny needed her teeth filed down. Doctor who does that isn't in. Made a second appt a couple weeks later. Then they say oh we don't do surgeries on weekends. we only do surgeries Monday through Thursday. you need to make yet another appointment. Why didn't they tell me when I made the appointment? Cause every appointment they make $65 doctors exam $. Also. Initially quoted $235. Then they say it's $440 because they need to take X-rays. Why?! Because it's $205 just for bunny teeth X-rays. My puppy has been going to all creatures Animal Hospital since I purchased on December 9th from petland Dunwoody. Chloe was diagnosed with a cold And had been on treatment we had our recheck on the 26th of December and Was told that my puppy was fine the dr even insisted on giving Chloe her last round of shots I knew that she wasn't well still so I took her else we're for a second opinion the very next day on December 27th where they did a thorough check in front of me plus performed x rays and I found out that my fur baby had pneumonia in both lungs. read more

I just had my first experience with All Creatures yesterday when I went to get my bearded dragon checked for worms and parasites. The staff was kind, knowledgeable, quick, and thorough. They gave him a physical and printed off a full report assessing different aspects of his health. I was impressed! I'm giving 4 stars because it was pricy, but they're one of the few exotic/reptile vets in metro Atlanta, so for me it's worth it (and I live in Decatur!). read more

We had a horrible experience with All Creatures that confirmed the lack of compassion, urgency, and disregard for the wellness of the pets and their families conveyed in other reviews here . A month after our puppies initial wellness checks one of them had to spend several days at Blue Pearl emergency hospital for kidney issues stemming from ingesting an anti inflammatory pill. Her kidney levels were so elevated that the initial prognosis was she would need to be put down which had our kids in tears. Thankfully that didn't happen and the Blue Pearl team provided excellent care and restored our puppy's kidney levels and functions back to normal levels before sending her home a few days later . After she was discharged from Blue Pearl the continuing care was turned over to All Creatures who completely dropped the ball on everything. Two days after discharge our dog was having complications to which they were unresponsive and completely disengaged from the severity of the condition. The day the complications began my wife left a voice message at 10am and sent a followup txt message through their portal minutes later with the details of our dog's complications and didn't get a return txt from them until 5:45pm right after she had just called them again to see when they would be responding. The advice they finally gave us after all that was to call Blue Pearl which should have been provided long before. There were other dropped balls with them leading up to this but this was the final straw for us and we got our dogs records to take to our new vet. Reading through their record notes confirmed the level of disorganization there and their complete apathy to a very serious situation that they were fully aware of. All Creatures should be embarrassed by this standard of care or if not should be out of business. I would not recommend them to anyone that places a high value on their pet's life and health. read more

Staff is friendly, knowledge, and seem genuinely interested in you and your animals. I bring my exotics to this location, and pricing is excellent for their care. They also had great recommendations for pet insurance, should I ever need it. The staff love looking at and interacting with your animals. Follow up calls from the Dr. Are great, makes you feel welcome and very well cared for. Never have I felt so welcome at a vet. I don't have experience with them for anything but exotics, but I highly recommend them! read more

Let me just start off by saying i was the owner of an actually sweet chameleon with amazing temperament. About two weeks ago my poor boy started seeming sluggish with a slight swollen right side of the jaw. It immediately seemed like a temporal gland infection so i bring him in which is initially already $70 just to be looked at and then to be told its mbd which i was given medication for but when i asked if i could still be given antibiotics just incase i was told no and to call if he worsens. Let me also note that the vitamin supplement medication was given to me in a test tube where the syringe could barley reach. Two weeks go by and i notice it has gotten worse the swelling and the sluggishness. So i call to just be told by a receptionist that she talked to the vet that i need to schedule another appointment even tho he has already been looked at and I emailed pictures of his current state where you can clearly see the infection and that his current treatment may still be the best option which clearly wasn't only to call back minutes later talking to another receptionist and to be told the vet is actually in surgery. I've called three days in a row to get no call back and told no after begging for the antibiotics he so desperately needed. Only about 2-3 staff members actually are passionate and helpful the rest are blood sucking leeches who just enforce whatever the company policy is and incapable of thinking for themselves. I highly suggest looking for a different vet as you are rolling the dice with this one. P.s i still haven't gotten a call back. read more
