Response to the attached letter: I have never questioned Dr. Tracy's and Sam's abilities to perform excellent dental work. Receiving your letter in the mail (attached for reference) is nothing but angering; it's an absolute reflection of the obliviousness and straightforward inability to recognize your office's mistake in handling this situation. Historically I've been very prompt in paying my copay; you should be able to validate this in your records. I'm immensely mindful of what is owed, and what my responsibilities are in communicating with providers any modification in insurance coverage as I want to ensure eligibility, and that providers do get compensated for the work performed. I have provided your office more than sufficient heads up in early-mid March that my insurance will be changing effective April 1st due to a change in employment. As soon as I received said new insurance information I promptly informed your office. This would've been the opportunity for your office to proactively verify eligibility --- however due diligence on your part was not appropriately executed. You've known as soon as I informed the office that my new policy is under Aetna. You said that my plan is an HMO and not a PPO, therefore I did the work on my end and switched to PPO at the earliest opportunity. When I called your office to provide that update, that's when you finally said "we don't participate with Aetna." From that interaction you revealed that you've ALWAYS known you do not participate with Aetna, but continued to lead me on, at my expense, to help sustain that little bit of revenue for your clinic. This is bad business. You also referred me to an unnecessary periodontist treatment and sent them the old insurance information. Needless to say they're sending me an invoice for the full amount --- all because of your office's irresponsibility and lackluster quality of administrative work. I'm pulling my family from your clinic. It is immensely unprofessional and sketchy business to make a patient responsible for an amount that could've been prevented had you executed eligibility standard operating procedure, aka if you actually did the work of verifying eligibility when I gave you the complete insurance details. Obviously you did not, I stand by principle and will not be a victim of the irresponsible and lazy method your office went about this scenario. I'd appreciate this be escalated to Dr. Tracy and have this be waived for decent business practice's sake. And please be assured that your letter, as well as this response, will be posted online to various review and social media platforms to provide awareness of your horrendous patient account handling.

I contacted several dental offices to find a dentist who accepted my insurance, Delta Dental with VA CHAMPVA. I explained that my goal was to have my tooth repaired. Dr. Yun M. Kang assured me that it would not be a problem and scheduled additional appointments. At my next appointment, the planned procedures were to extract the remaining root and complete a bone graft. When I arrived, Dr. Kang administered the numbing injections. After waiting approximately 10 minutes for the anesthesia to take effect, he informed me that the membrane required for the procedure had not arrived. As a result, the procedure could not be completed, and I was sent home after receiving the injections and being left numb. I was asked to return the following week once the necessary material was available. At my next visit, I went in to have my stitches removed, receive my permanent tooth, and confirm that the healing process was complete. Dr. Kang stated that the area had healed very well. When I asked about the next step, he informed me that my insurance benefits had been exhausted for the year. I had already paid more than $1,400 out of pocket. He explained that moving forward would be my decision and asked how much I was willing to pay. At my initial appointment, the front desk provided an invoice outlining the recommended treatment plan. I signed the document, agreeing to proceed with the treatment and pay my portion upfront. After completing these steps, I was informed that additional costs would be required because my insurance benefits had been used. At this point, I am still wearing a retainer, and my tooth has not been completed. I also experienced difficulty communicating with Dr. Kang due to a language barrier. However, clear communication regarding treatment plans, costs, and expectations is essential regardless of the circumstances. I encourage others to carefully review their treatment plans, obtain all agreements in writing, and ensure that both the patient and the provider are clear about the procedures to be completed, associated costs, and expected outcomes before beginning treatment. BE AWARE! YUN M KANG, DDS, 19th Avenue Dental Everett, Wa.

I read reviews and finally chose Avenue Dental. My husband and I, as well as a dear family friend, made appointments. After three to four months, I was originally told approximately a month, I finally had my teeth. The dentist was on vacation so I was given the dentures and sent on my way. My husband was out of it for his appointment as he had teeth pulled but the temporary dentist kept apologizing. I wasn't sure what was going on but he said they would make it right, something about the dentures being wrong, and they scheduled an appointment the following week. So my husband had no teeth for that week and then another week after that appointment. His still do not fit and he refuses to wear them. It's been about 4 months and my teeth fall out when I speak so I called in and asked about a fitting since I had not had one originally. I went in and was told that they needed realigning because of bone loss. It's been 4 months, my last teeth lasted 15 years and I never needed any adjustments. The office then sent in a person with a quote of a $1000. I explained I couldn't do that so if I had to pay so much I would only be doing the top, she said sign it anyway. I was originally told that adjustments were $150, and I had asked if I needed to pay that for this visit since no fitting was ever done to the teeth. I was told there should have been one and it was implied I wasn't being truthful. Keep in mind I had just paid somewhere around $5000 for the teeth. The assistant left to make an appointment for next week, she came back in and I was told to hand over my teeth, that I should have them back in a few days. I had already explained I needed to schedule for next week so I could try to find my old teeth so I could eat and speak for those days. I explained again I could not do that today, she explained it was the only way it worked with the dentist schedule. I was finally told to call when I was ready to get it done and they would schedule me then, and then I was walked to the door. So now I'm out almost 13,000 cash for myself and my husband and I'm going to have to go to another dentist that does what they say. Please beware! Most of us cannot afford to go and get new teeth let alone be robbed when we do. I'm so upset, I no longer have teeth I feel confident in and I do not have another $13000 to make it right, it was a a once in a lifetime opportunity, nor do I want to go for 2-3 days without teeth while I wait to get them corrected. The dentist only works Thursday & Friday, which explains why my 1 month time frame turned into 4 months. I had read the reviews and I thought I'd found a place I could trust but now I'm out the money, I have teeth that fall out when I speak, and I was treated like I was not worth their time.
