I enjoyed this!! My girlfriend took me out on a date for dinner then she took me here. This place is right up our alley because we absolutely love murder mystery games like "Hunt A Killer" so we were completely in our element trying to crack this one. We were moving fairly quickly till a clock gobbled up our time. We kept going back to one object, a clock, that we kept feeling it HAD to have more than just the current time. Sure enough when we asked for a hint the employee came in and opens the clock! Ugh! We were so mad for not trying harder to pry it open but we were afraid to break it and get charged for it. They give you all kinds of disclaimers before you go in that basically say, "you break it, you buy it" so we were afraid we'd break this clock. Had we opened the clock or ask for the clue for the clock sooner, we would have solved it. It was the second hardest room too. read more

Unprofessional Attempted to solve an escape room and found a lock that would not open. We used a hint thinking we had the incorrect password. The employee came in and gave us a hint which we already solved. We told her we already attempted that code she said try again and that she could not help. We watched 15 minutes go to 0. When a different employee came to let us out we asked how to solve it and she attempted the password to the lock and it did not work. She told us the lock must be broken but could not give us extra time or reimburse us for the faulty experience. She did offer a discount on out next room as if we would be returning. read more

Wow. Having done 50 Escape Rooms, this is by far the worst. Wish I could give zero stars. The rooms are so B-level it's almost amusing. They proudly announce on the wall that their rooms change out "every 12 weeks for a new and exciting adventure." That fact alone betrays how shoddily thrown together each room is, with a bunch of excuses for "thematic" decorations tacked up on the wall. The walls don't even reach the ceiling, so noise travels in and out of each room. The place is understaffed and you are not monitored while in the room. If you need a clue you just hit a buzzer and need to wait until someone is free to come in and give you a clue; then you need to tell them where you're at and ask for information. They will flip through their sheet of papers to give you the answer because they don't actually know the rooms. And we haven't even talked about the puzzles yet. How can I describe an escape room that is at once too straightforward, yet also something that would be frustrating for first time Escape roomers? We did Alcatraz, which consisted essentially of reading a tedious list of 30 prisoner bios in the wall, and following dry instructions which lead from box to box, which are pasted with cheap photos representing "rooms" in the prison. There actually were ZERO true puzzles to speak of. It was more or less "read that number and use it here". So boring. Did I mention that you only have 50 minutes? Nearly every other escape Room on earth is 60 minutes (or more). They also have this absurd Level 1-5 system to give you the opportunity to spend more time in the room. In Alcatraz, we completed Level 1 in 15 minutes, and decided to obviously stay for the second part of the room (which strangely jumps to "Level 3"). We finished Level 3 by the 37 minute mark, setting the room's new record. No hints. Don't be fooled by the nice lobby and clean website. This place is an embarrassment to the art of escape rooms; it's really nothing but a cheap imitation of real escape rooms. I wish better options existed in the Middletown area. read more

Definitely the only way I would ever recommend going here was if there was a major discount- which thanks to groupon there was! Rooms are tiny, they increase level of "difficulty" (each room gets assigned a level 1-5) by adding tedious challenges, and they are GROSSLY understaffed (when we rang for clues... no one came). I'm going to give this place the second star because it's close to home and low price. However, this is really not a quality escape room. The rooms are tiny (would not recommend more than 2-3 people at most). Their "most popular" room Escape From Alcatraz was literally just a few locked boxes in a narrow room. No hiding of anything, not very clever. Just basic go there and do that. The rooms also come in a variety of difficulties. We opted for the higher difficulty, which was an exercise in tedium. I guess increased difficulty consists of searching a half dozen pages of size 8 font for one word. They are also very unresponsive, but wha would you expect with one employee overseeing five or so rooms. You are given two "clues" per 45 min block, but when we asked for one nobody came. Over 13 minutes left on the clock when we signaled for the hint, she never came. Finally, the nail on the coffin was that when we were finally done, the employee just came in and started resetting the room. No debrief like you would get in any other escape room. No small talk. Just time to go. Bottom line: this is a low cost way to get into escape rooms (if you have the groupon), but lacks many of the details that make these games so much fun. Do yourself a favor and spend a tiny bit more to try a different company. read more

By far the worst room I've ever done and I'm an avid escaper. This place has zero organization, no linear or clear and concise clues, no cameras, the hint system was someone walking into the room and not pausing time, and ask what you did so far, then takes the packet from the door to see what the next step is because they aren't trained. They are also 50 minutes instead of an hour, and still the SLOWEST 50 minutes I've ever experienced. If a room feels slow, that's a red flag. Also the room walls are makeshift walls and don't go all the way to the ceiling so you hear everyone from the other rooms. The employee (I can't even call her a game master since she had to read what to do next) told me there's red herring clues in the room and if you're stuck to move on...I never found one clue that WASN'T a red herring... and when I asked her about the ten pieces of paper in a locker, she said oh let me check, *pulls out the booklet on what comes next* and says, there's this also...and struggles herself to pull out a magnetic case behind the locking part of the locker, that holds a key. So all of the paperwork was NOTHING. I tried adding all the numbers on a paper pictured with a calculator together and tried all the results in EVERY LOCK, easily ten locks and nothing. Total waste of money and time. And the best part was that she insulted me afterwards saying she should've gave me an easier room...I've escaped easily 30 rooms ALONE with escape rates as low as 10 percent. This company was AWFUL. Also when you call to book a room you get ANOTHER COUNTRY. Worst experience. Don't waste your time. read more

Members of our team have been to over 18 escape the rooms nationwide and this was clearly not up to par. Sure the challenge needs to be there but so does the chance to escape. My first time attempting a Mystery Room, WHAT FUN! We chose the most difficult room, Houdini and it was definitely HARD! We didn't escape in time, but had a great time trying to figure it out. The clues are challenging, and the rooms are well themed. read more

I went on a Saturday night with a group of 4 people & we did the Escape from Alcatraz room at a level 1. We were all very dissatisfied with our experience. We received no instructions or back story before beginning the challenge. All we were told is we have 50 minutes & can receive two hints and the door was closed. The clues did not make sense or seem to have any flow or order. When we attempted to ask for a hint the attendant was flipping through a paper trying to understand the clues herself. In the meantime dipping into our time. At the end when we asked if she could explain the room or the clues in order to solve it she simply said no, she was not sure. For a price of $20 a person i would expect more of an "experience." I could close myself in a room and get confused for free. I would not go back. read more

Condensed version: Fun, but had issues. Try it out and see for yourself. It's possible I would go again, but I would rather find a better location. I did not have a Groupon and thus, it felt VERY overpriced for the experience. It was myself and my 3 best friends and we did the Zombie Apocalypse room- currently their most difficult rated room. It was challange for for sure. And we had a lot of fun. But, that doesn't diminish the fact that there were some issues. There were no storage locations. I had my jacket, sweater, and scarf on me the whole time since there was no place to put it. It was really hot! The rooms are all open at the top, so any noises outside the room can be heard, and are incredibly distracting. There was a lot of chatter and it was very loud. At one point, someone waltzed into our room while we were puzzling away and said "whoops, wrong room," which was also very distracting. The decor was good, except for the really cheesy zombie wall decals, which were not needed, since it took away from the lab vibe (but I suppose it needed more of a zombie feel since it didn't really have one). Some of the decals were even falling off and we're taped back on with blue painters tape. Sadly, quite a few of the locked boxes were already unlocked for us. It didn't necessarily make the challenge any easier for us, since we'd end up solving puzzles we already had open boxes to. And, having access to boxes too early gave us extra info that took away from the info we should have been working on. I'm not sure who put the room back together last, but it was a poor job. Then, once we finished, the door unlocked and we kinda walked out and no one was around to greet us. We stood around until an employee showed up and we had to tell him we finished since he didn't even recognize us. He basically said bye and that he hoped we had fun. That was it. I want to let everyone know that I have done two "Escape The Room"s- both located in Nashville, TN, and they were fantastic! Real rooms, intro videos, classy setups, baskets in the room that hold your items, emergency escape door buttons (for the claustrophobics), cool merchandise to buy if you escaped, free stickers if you escaped, attentive employees. So, maybe I am a little spoiled since I had such great experiences at a similar type place. read more

Would not recommend this place and definitely will not go back. There are levels of difficulty so we chose level 2 being the kids were 11. The Clues were confusing (and some clues there were level 4 that weren't labeled so we wasted time on them and didn't find that out until the end. We also needed a hint it took the girl over 5 minutes to come in then she didn't stop the clock while she fumbled through papers to figure it out. Don't waste your money here. My friends and I did Sherlock's Library last week. It was fun-and I would totally do this again. 2 of us had been to one other escape room-and that one had been amazing...so we were worried it wouldn't measure up. This one is not so ummm tactile? But the mystery was good and we had fun solving the puzzles. This was more of locked boxes, and picture clues--but it was still very entertaining and really made you think. We all agreed it was a fun way to spend an hour and we would all do it again. One thing that was not so good--the walls don't go all the way up and yes--when other teams are loud you can get distracted.
