    Luki after nail surgery...healing well!!!

I can't stress enough how amazing Dr. Herbst and her team are. They will fit emergency appointments in, answer after hours questions, and do whatever possible to help your animal. I am so glad we found Dr. Herbst. This vet is worth the 40 min drive for us...we would ever go back to our old vet practice!

This is crazy. I had my 6 month old kitten, brought her in for sluggishness little too no eating and drinking and not going too the bathroom, the doctors immediately showers with me my cats gonna die there was no sympathy nothing they got an X-ray and showed a foreign object but the minute I said she had diarrhea prior too the last couple days everything changed, she told me too go home so I did. next day I'm at work trying too find someone who can help with financials too get a surgery, instead of actually helping they threaten too call the Bourne police on me for animal cruelty which is unbelievable I'm 19 and trying too save my cat. Then I called and asked about the threat and they lied and said no threat was made. so I made the right choice too put her down. My mother and my girlfriend brought the cat die too me being at work, they took my cat without my girlfriend and mom couldn't say bye. unbearable not happy.

I am not reviewing them nor faulting them for "drinking the corporate Kool-aid". My review is for hosp policies that leave the consumer, who is already traumatized because their beloved child had to go to the ONLY ER in the area, hostages of their practices, "back handed compliment" of a consumers bill of rights: This is from the "American Association of Veterinary State Boards": "- Informed Consent & Treatment Options: You have the right to know your pet's diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment alternatives, along with the risks and benefits of each. You may accept, decline, or seek second opinions on any recommended care. - Transparent Pricing & Estimates: You have the right to receive an accurate written estimate for care, to know the costs of veterinary services... - Access to Medical Records: You have the right to copies or summaries of your pet's medical records upon request. - Prescription Freedom: Veterinarians must provide you with a written prescription upon request, allowing you to purchase pet medications from a pharmacy of your choice rather than directly from the clinic. - Professional Qualifications: You have the right to expect your veterinarian and technicians to meet the legal education and experience qualifications...". YES the absolutely tell you the cost of EVERYTHING. Actually its close to $300 just to walk through the door. Got it. Cost of medical care for your pet + cover the initial triage. Cool. Triage is necessary to understand the course of action. Access to medical records - WE PAID for them, but thank you AAVSB. I'm old... and old enough to know this isn't the 1950s-80s where docs went unquestioned... Carrying on. Informed conscent blah blah. THIS is where the wheels fell off the bus. This is NOT my first rodeo. I have my share of Vet care and Vet ER care. In my experience, younger vets have a lot of student debt, and they were taught to try everything on the menu, AND they drink corporate pushy kool-aid to sell services like water bottles in a desert concert. Step 1 for this visit = BLOODWORK. AND PLEASE INFORM ME OF AN APPROXIMATE time for the results to be back based on the traffic flow for the night. I don't need to be sold on 50 other things. When you have been to Tufts in Grafton for urgent vet care - the bar is high. Sorry guys, but I hold you to that standard... So after hearing the CYA laundry list of all the things I KNEW were irrelevant until bloodwork came back, I was passing out. NO. Do the bloodwork, tell me how long to wait for that, and keep me POSTED. Keep us all posted. Since the hospital is going through much needed renovations, figure out a better comms flow! Their CYA poster in the waiting room? Send it for rewording, and POST the consumer bill of rights. Condescending, pretty much reminding us low lives, that this is urgent care and triage is necessary so that they can take care of the most urgent cases first, thus you will be waiting while your pet is in a cage somewhere you can't see them. I don't think anyone objects to having the more urgent/critical/dying patients be seen and tended to first. YES, it's urgent care. YES- you should take care of the life threatening cases. NO, you don't have a RIGHT to hold people hostage without better comms, NO, you shouldn't keep a pet hostage because you're afraid of walk away without paying. FIGURE out a better process that works not only for you and the consumer. If you are going to TELL us how to behave, also tell us what to expect from YOU. I'm going to assume that there will be more space and rooms in the reno for you to stay with your pet through process where it makes sense - for our sanity and pet's comfort. If you are worried about people who will just get up an leave, FIGURE IT OUT Mr and MRS BOARD of directors, top of the heap manager... This reflects on YOU, not the people who cared on Lulu. I'm sure they treated her like the princess she and all the others are. Their hands are tied because your ops leave a lot to the imagination. Of course you want your bigger chunk of the $$. We get that. Thanks for treating our time like it doesn't matter and over extending your staff. Because when I get a call close to midnight because the doc over prescribed the med, you KNOW she was overwhelmed. (THANK GOD SHE CAUGHT IT) This is what to expect folks. Don't blame the staff. Expect them to be sweet, tired, love animals, know their job, underpaid but show up to care for your baby. Whatever operational hiccups comes from incompetent leadership that can't figure out a better way because they take advantage of being the only gig closer, is not their fault. Thank them. They do try their best. Leadership? TO BE SEEN. Would I go back? Because of the loving staff? yes. The ops? Worth a 2 hour drive to Grafton...

The limping got worse and decided to take her to a different place for a second opinion, immediately knew that she had tore her ACL and was beyond shocked that Animal health clinic did nothing to test for this the first time we brought her to them about the limping. So now because we have been told for months it's not a concern, she has a full ACL tear and got emergency surgery for something that if caught in the beginning could have possibly been aided to and resolved and she would not have been suffering in the amount of pain she has been for so long now. So to say the least I am very upset with this vet and their lack of care for my dog and just to top it off when requesting my dogs records and explaining why I am upset they said absolutely nothing, no apology, no phone call to discuss just sent the records that to me confirms that they do not truly care about the animals they are supposed to be taking car of. I do not recommend this place to anyone

When I went to pick her up after her surgery the building was closed! I called the office several times no one answered. I went around to all of the local businesses to ask if anyone knew of the vets personal phone number or had seen anyone with no luck. I started to panic knowing that my poor baby was alone in there coming off of anesthesia and just had surgery! I was about to contact the authorities after about a half hour when one of the vet techs finally showed up. There were several other animals left alone in the building following surgery as well as this was there surgery day. I immediately got my dog only to discover she had no E-collar and had been scratching at her eye that she just had surgery on! I contacted the vet the following day as he was not there when I picked my dog up and he proceeded to yell at ME on the phone bc his technician had left the day before crying. My dog was never given any pain meds or antibiotics. I immediately took her to another vet where they prescribed her pain meds and antibiotics. I was also informed by them that my dog did NOT need immediate surgery and she only needed the surgery if the antibiotics didn't work for her eye. I was also given a price over the phone prior to her surgery and when I went to pick her up they tried to charge me more with no explanation of what the additional charges were for! I refused to pay for the additional charges as this was fraud! THIS PLACE NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN FOR LEAVING ALL OF THOSE ANIMALS ALONE COMING OFF OF ANESTHESIA/ SURGERY AND FOR FRAUD!!

When my husband arrived at 11 AM he was informed they would not take my dog as we were "more than half a hour late" which is a "grace period", that our dog could be put on a "waiting list" and oh by the way when they would finally groom her whenever that would be, they wanted an additional $35 "late fee" for... what exactly? When it was them that wouldn't take the dog? Over the two years we were given crap for arriving BEFORE 11 "we have other clients you know" so today my husband actually spent time waiting around in order not to arrive TOO EARLY which he apologized to me for when he got home as if he wasn't doing exactly what Pampered Paws had taught us to expect to do. We have also been given crap for not picking her up early when contacted as if were supposed to expectd to be available, or for attempting to pick her up on time without being contacted, because it's somehow the client's fault that the groomer hasn't gotten the dog finished after FIVE HOURS at the boutique. One of them has very poor social skills and actually lied to my dog sitter back in December the last time Amber was groomed there; this woman claimed to my sitter that services are "never prepaid" and that my sitter was lying when she stated her experience to the contrary. As despite the labeled button on their website, Pampered Paws has no actual publicly available written policies, it's understandable that there is ambiguity, so a few days later I did have a conversation over the phone that seemed to clarify that prepaying was possible (which I knew because we had done it) but failed to address the issue of the rude behavior. Judee actually chuckled on the phone when saying that is "not their policy to release a dog without paying" as if we weren't long-term clients with known phone numbers who could have given a credit card over the phone if we had even been asked. She absolutely bungled that interaction but rather than apolgize she just doubled down on the sarcasm. I should have taken it as a sign there and then. Round numbers, I have spent $2000 at Pampered Paws, but they won't get another cent from me until they're "Under New Management"!
