We agreed to have Terry from 'All Quality Garage Doors' change our garage door on a Tuesday. On Tuesday Terry did not show up, when called, he stated, "Oh sorry, I must have written down the wrong day, -can you live with it until tomorrow?'. Not a big deal, mistakes happen. When Terry hid the box of packaging for the garage door opener in my garage, used my ladder and left bits of staples, bolts and wires strewn throughout the driveway and garage, I didn't mind-'stuff' happens.
After receiving an initial est. for $1500. for the new garage door, and an extra $344. for the opener we decided to move forward with the project. Over the phone with terry, we agreed on a third garage remote for an extra $22. Terry stated that, "I like round numbers, so the remote is $25." O.K., not a problem, it's only 3 dollars.
So Terry installed the garage door and opener. We're happy with that. But somehow the final bill changed to $1992. from the agreed $1900. (which actually should have been $1869. but again, whatever.) with a $92. discount ???? -o.k.. but we didn't receive a third remote. He told my wife that it was not reflected in the final invoice, and would be extra. When I called Terry to ask about the third remote, he said, "I'll drop it off.... -how about tomorrow at 2 p.m.?" .
He didn't came by at 2p.m.. Our check was cashed immediately and he has not returned any of my calls since then. This I mind.
Although the work was not bad, -and I can deal with "fuzzy' math, and the mess- the feelings of being ripped off I can do without.

And if that wasn't enough, his Ca. contractors license (565760) is expired.
*I am now adding more, because the story has gotten better since this was written. He finally called us when he got the letter from the CA contractors board saying that he needed to fix the problem. He called and said that we should have considered the third door opener a gift and that we should have called him. Hello! We did call him after he didn't show up to drop off the opener. So he agreed to come by the next morning to drop it off and we ended the call. THEN - 2 minutes later he calls back again, complaining that it wasn't right and that I had to call him back and say "please" and then he'd come and drop it off. (What???!!) Of course I didn't call him back to say please. But he called back a half hour later and said he'd come by that afternoon. He did, and was not happy that in the end he was told by the contractor's board to give the customer what he initially promised. read more
