Unfortunately, Jason has fallen on…read morehard times, lost his shop, is trying to launch a new business dealing with cars, and has resorted to scamming seniors living on Social Security, like me, to fund his grand ideas. I contracted with Jason to supply and install 7 doors for $7490. He wanted half or $3745 down for materials. He directed me to "Miller Interiors" on the Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB.CA.Gov) to give me a false sense of security. Don't count on it. The business address on CSLB is a P.O. Box, and the phone number is for Sir Handyman, another of Jason's failed businesses: https://www.yelp.com/biz/sir-handyman-hayward . You need to prove you tried to work things out with Jason to CSLB, and with no business or residential (keep reading) address, good luck finding him once he's done getting as much as he can from you. The police won't be able to help. It's a civil matter. They told me to hire a lawyer and sue him. But even with all his false assurances, I asked to see an invoice from the door supplier, giving him a $1000 "good faith" (on my part) down payment. When he brought me an invoice from a reputable door supplier, I paid the full $3745. I began to feel uneasy when he was concerned about the $10 fee it would cost him to cash my check. There were more red flags. There is no contractor's license number on my contract. The address on my contract is someone's (not Jason's) private residence. The business address listed on this Yelp site is not Jason's business address. It's a vacant commercial property. The door is taped over with black plastic and mail pushed through the mail slot is caught between the plastic and the glass. The link to his business web page (millerinteriorsdoorcompany.com) and the phone number (510-676-5907) on this Yelp site are not active, although both were active when I first contacted him. A month after taking my money, he got a new phone number. He told me that he changed his phone service because the fees were too high. Does it make any sense at all that he wouldn't he keep his business phone number when changing providers? A few days ago, Jason showed up on my doorstep telling me that my doors were ready, but that he had held back half of the money when they were ordered as leverage against receiving damaged goods and he didn't have enough money to pick them up. He wanted me to advance him more money. Since he originally told me that he had to pay in full when ordering the doors, I refused. Desperate for cash, he told me that to avoid getting parking tickets, he had parked several of his cars on private property. (It occurs to me that someone trying to hide cars they are afraid may be repossessed might do something like that but draw your own conclusions.) At any rate, his vehicles had been towed and impounded, and every day they sat there was costing him more money that he didn't have. He was also concerned about cash he had in one of the impounded vehicles. He said he had pawned a gold necklace but still couldn't come up with the enough money for the impound lot. Then he complained that although he didn't like sleeping in his van, it was better than the car he had spent the night in. So, would any additional money I might have given him be used for doors or impound fees? He also scammed the supplier. I talked to Ashby Lumber. While Jason did order the doors, putting down $1000, he gave them a fake name (altering the copy he gave me - see photos) and he isn't returning their calls. Jason left them on the hook for the $935 balance of a special order he placed but has no use for. Ultimately, Jason charged me $3745 for doors that would have cost him $1935, netting himself $2745 just for placing the order with about 50% down and scamming everyone else involved. Jason rambles on and on about all his woes. He seems to feel victimized by the cost of living, by cell phone fees, bank fees, the pandemic, you name it. I guess he feels that gives him license to victimize others if that's what it takes to put a dollar in his pocket. Personally, I would not trust Jason to work in my home. With a little research on the internet, I found 2 arrest records for Jason Wade Miller. (The name Jason Wade Miller is associated with the "business" phone number on this web page in multiple places on the internet.) His most recent arrest was on 10-7-2025, just days before he showed up on my doorstep asking for more money. Now, granted, doors are not a necessity. The loss of almost $4000 is not taking food off my table. I'm still able to pay my property tax and for my medications, and my utilities won't be shut off, though I doubt if Jason was ever concerned about any of that. But I am in my 70's. I have no way of recouping savings lost to Jason and his big ideas. One last thing, the day after I refused to advance him more money, he showed up at Ashby Lumber and took 3 of the doors. We got an estimate from Andersen (less the storm door). Their products and installation method were top-notch, but so was their estimated price! So we wanted something more economical. After some research we heard Milgard windows using an "retrofit" installation would be more in our price range. We also wanted a window/door-installation company that gave us a good price estimate (1/3 the cost of Andersen), was in our locale (Tri-Valley) , and had 5-star rating already. So we were happy to find Cal Coast that met those criteria. The initial estimate process was straightforward. Our estimator was friendly and efficient. The format of the estimate came in digital PDF format. It was easy to print, and the details and layout were very helpful with diagrams of what the windows and door would look like with dimensions. One measurement for one window was slightly off. I mentioned that to my estimator. He assured me that was not a problem because if I accepted their estimate, then the next step was for another technician would come out to the house to re-measure the windows more accurately and in more detail. We did accept the estimate, and indeed another technician came out to do detailed measurements. Then we received a revised and more detailed contract in that same great layout! The estimator kindly set our expectations that our windows and door were going to take 5-6 weeks to custom manufacture and about 1 to 2 days to install. Those timings were right on target, which helped us in planning other events in our life. Installation only took 1 day! The crew was great - courteous, hard working, and efficient. They put foam insulation in the space between our window frames and the new windows. The caulking work was professional. I was pleased. And the crew cleaned up after themselves perfectly. Another thing I was pleased with was Cal Coast's production manager helped me apply and get my city building permit for the new windows. The day of installation, the foreman handed me a nice folder with the printed permit with other instructions. I really appreciated that. Also after installation she worked with my city building department to schedule a final inspection by a city inspector. When the inspector came out, because the product and installation were superb, it passed with no problem. Of course, I paid a little more to have this permit processing service, but it was well worth it. Finally, as you can tell from this rather long review, I'm very pleased with our experience with Cal Coast and the Milgard products. I add my 5-star review to others that have gone before me for Cal Coast!

I gave Walter a photo of what I wanted with a description and he killed it (down to the handle design and rail color). After getting our quote, he came to take measurements and a 50% deposit (the remaining due after installation). We were quoted a 4-6 week lead time but it took 11.5 weeks. I understand that delays happen especially with the current supply chain issues, but I just wish there was more communication regarding the delays. Overall, I'm super excited about the barn yard door! It looks aesthetically pleasing, rolls smoothly, and Walter and Chris worked hard on the installation (taking just a little over 3 hours). It looks way better than the DIY ones you buy online and I love how the frosted glass turned out. Through our builder, they wanted $2500 for a standard door, so we're glad that we went with Walter instead to get a custom one for less than $3000 (including tax) that's more practical and looks nicer.

Never knew about life time warranty until last month, one of the window cracked. We didn't have any receipt or anything, just an email we did 14 years ago. We just contacted the company on their website and amazingly, they have the record by the address. The service department was so helpful, they contacted us and contacted the manufacturer to set up appointment with the case number to get it replaced. The windows were replaced 14 years ago in one day and we had many custom sized windows. The amazing thing is they know exactly which window that cracked by us describing the location of the window. Anlin Delmar (Milgard) called us and setup the appointment. They came and replaced the windows in a few hours. It was amazing and we're extremely happy. Now we know, go with the best and reputable company like Custom Exteriors and a good manufacturer like Anlin Delmar to have after service years after the work is done.
