    Brisket and chicken meal
    Joshua J.

Larry and his crew cook up some amazing bbq. The restaurant takes up the space once held by the second bank in Weldon, and the vault is still there for viewing. Really, this should not be a five star review. However, the lack of any higher star ratings means I can only give five stars. The brisket was so tender and juicy that it almost fell apart on the fork. The chicken was also surprisingly tender and moist. The sides were extraordinary, with the Mac and cheese and the potato salad being our favorites. The bbq sauce was a Texas-style sauce with just the right amount of sweetness. The food alone would have earned five stars, but Larry and his team did such a great job of taking care of us that they deserve even more stars. Their friendly engagement despite the rush started when we walked in and continued until we left. It felt like eating with friends we haven't seen in a while, and it added a lot to the meal. I hope to visit again someday.

Best Bar-b-que in Wyoming and Montana. dGreen chili is really good. No frills kinda place but Larry (the owner) is awesome! Beer and wine for alcohol and Pepsi products. Try it, at least! No ambiance, it's a bar-b-queBBQ Chicken, Beef Brisket, Green Chili,Pulled Pork Sandwich!

Amazing food and service! Pork so good even my vegetarian girlfriend loved it!! Kansas style. Remember to say "Hi" to Larry

If this looks like $17 worth of food to you, then go ahead and eat here. If not, stay away.

Two stars, only because the brisket was very tasty, and the cornbread was some of the best I've had. Otherwise it would be one star. Brisket - moist and perfectly cooked, although I thought it was kind of weird that they slather it in bbq sauce before they give it to you.. most places let you sauce it yourself. Pulled pork - dry and flavorless, despite being slathered in sauce. Ribs - they didn't have any, even though it was lunchtime on a Saturday. Mac n cheese - disgusting. Was definitely velveeta box Mac n cheese, except cold. Baked beans - just your average canned baked beans. Potato salad - tasted like the tub of potato salad you get from Walmart. Cornbread - delicious. Soft, fluffy, not too sweet. ----------- Dining room - badly decorated but clean enough. Prices - Outrageous. We paid $17 for my husband's two meat plate which consisted of two tiny sides, a small helping of pulled pork, and three little pieces of brisket. All in all we paid $32 for a stingy amount of food and no drinks. In conclusion, avoid this place unless you like to pay outrageous prices for mediocre food, or if you plan to eat only brisket and cornbread.

Let me tell you that if you want to have really great barbecue in Walden Colorado you have to stop by all smoked up barbecue. Larry is the owner and cook and with his extensive background of restaurant openings throughout the United States this man really does know how to smoke the meat! So please make your way to Walden Colorado as we did on our ride north to Custer South Dakota from Steamboat Springs Colorado just come on up route 14 and stop in Walden you won't be disappointed! We had a full rack of ribs coleslaw and mac & cheese sides and I tell you you won't need to add any extra sauce because it's just perfect the way it's served enjoy!

Get in here and get 'er done! GREAT BBQ in this small town! Fresh, hot, and pulled from the smoke daily. Best baked beans I've ever had and great potato salad! Seriously, I could have just had that for lunch. The owner is super friendly and makes you feel happy to be a patron. The resturant is in an old bank, so be sure to ask if you can look in the safe for a fun surprise!

This place is absolutely amazing! The people that work there are so personable and the food is awesome! I had the pulled pork sandwich and green chili, it was delicious! I'm big on good BBQ and if you are too you have to try this place! It was my birthday and they made me feel so special! They sang happy birthday and had the most lovely singing voices too!

Really good bbq...I grew up in Texas so I've had my share of bbq. This was exceptional, especially for how remote this is.

We decided to eat a Smokin' Dave's BBQ after a long day hiking at RMNP. We visited a bit after 6PM…read moreon a Sunday in the pouring rain and even though we thought it was shoulder season, the place was absolutely packed. We were quoted a 35-40 minute wait time. Since the waiting area was completely full we decided to go back to the car. Luckily, they use a waitlist system that sends updates via cellphone. It ended up only taking 20 minutes, and soon we sat inside to order. The food took about 15 minutes to arrive: Smokin' Bison Ribs ($29) - This entree comes with ribs, two sides, and a cornbread muffin. Bison Ribs - Three huge ribs decorate the top of the plate. According to the menu, they try to provide two pounds of meat - I'm not 100% sure it's that much, but it is a substantial portion nonetheless. The meat is moist and while not fall-off-the-bone, courtesy of a very thick layer of silver skin attaching the meat to the bone, is tender enough to be easy to eat. The ribs are slathered in a blackberry bbq sauce. It's not nearly as sweet or fruity as the name suggests. Instead, the flavors are very complementary and work so well together with the fabulously smoky and somewhat charred flavor of the ribs. (5/5) Side 1: Southern Corn Bake Casserole - This includes tender sweet corn kernels in a very creamy sauce with some green chile, giving a small bit of vegetal heat. It's similar to a richer creamed corn with a bit of heat. (4/5) Side 2: Red Beans and Rice - Tender beans that remain whole rather than falling apart into a mushy mass, reside on top of a very small amount of soft rice. Honestly the rice is almost vestigial here given the amount of beans on top. It's all in a very rich and savory sauce filled with celery. (4/5) Cornbread - This is a moist cornbread muffin with a couple of whole corn kernels inside. It's sweet but not as sweet as a dessert. (4/5) Dave's Double Platter ($22) - This entree comes with the choice of two meats, two sides, and a cornbread muffin. Meat 1: Brisket - A pink smoke ring surrounds pieces of lean, pale colored brisket flat. The meat arrives in a puddle of juices and seems to have plenty of black pepper embedded in the crust, but not any particular bark, making it seem like the brisket will be moist and tender. Unfortunately, the opposite is true - it's mostly dry with only superficial moisture on the exterior. I feel like they store pieces of brisket immersed in vats of the meat juices and keep it heated through service. They rest there until someone orders the brisket, then chunks are lifted out and sliced to order. All the moisture seems to be sucked out - on the first bite I could tell that I needed to eat the brisket in bbq sauce. Still, while dry, it's not too tough and it does have a good level of smoke. (3/5) Meat 2: Pulled Pork - The pulled pork has the same issues as the brisket and the same upsides: dry, with only superficial moisture, no bark, good smoke ring. Strangely they provided a piece of very light colored pork that wasn't shredded and was actually really tough and completely dried out. At least the darker meat shredded pieces are small enough to immerse in the meat juices to remoisten. (3/5) Side 1: Jalapeno Hush Puppies - These spherical fried corn fritters are stuffed with jalapenos, giving enough heat for the mouth to tingle. The texture is very dense, moist (especially due to the addition of onion), and smooth, making it seem homemade rather than commercial. For some reason, the center of each hush puppy has a void. They are fried well, giving a good crisp on the exterior. (5/5) Side 2: BBQ Baked Beans - These are very tender mixed beans in a very sweet sauce. I'd say very similar in sweetness level to canned beans. There are some small pieces of bacon mixed in to spice things up. (3/5) Cornbread - Interestingly not baked as much as the one that came with the bison ribs, making it much paler in color. I guess they aren't that consistent at baking these. Otherwise it could be due to hotter or colder spots in the oven? Other than the bison ribs, the other barbecue items are kind of meh. At least the sides are mostly good. Portion sizes are large but not comically big. We had enough leftovers for one meal the next day. When we left a bit after 7:30 PM, the place was still completely full and there were still people in the waiting room. Seems like a very popular place for dinner! Bathrooms - Two larger rooms/multiple stalls, one for men, one for women.

I can't recall their names but they were both very welcoming and friendly to the guests they attended. Our server was extremely helpful in helping us select our order as it was difficult to make a decision. She had a wonderful smile and funny banter and was genuinely happy to serve us. I thought she was the owner of the restaurant, but as we were remarking about the beauty and history of the building she remarked that she had only been working there for a few weeks! She was truly a breath of fresh air where customer service and friendliness is truly hit or miss. Some folks were very happy to see us, others could have preferred we stayed home. The BBQ was also amazing, we shared a platter with brisket and pulled pork, coleslaw and Mac and cheese. Everything was really delicious, the coleslaw wasn't overwhelmed by too much mayo. It was crisp and deliciously crunchy and the mac and cheese was homemade using mezze penne, gooey and flavorful. It was a delicious meal and a wonderful experience.

However, the bartender Chris wanted to argue with us the first second we sat down and when we were walking out the door after 50 minutes. There was no price at all so he wanted to argue about it and make us feel stupid when he wasn't doing his job and he told us he had only been there for three days so he didn't know the menu.
