Cheyenne had a pretty decent Philippine/BBQ joint downtown when we first moved here about 6 years ago. It folded and we were left with an occasional disappointing "barbecue sandwich" from restaurants like Rib and Chop House or The Depot. Then I found AB BBQ on Yelp. It didn't make sense when I mapped it out (in the middle of a trailer court), but going there, it makes total sense that this spot is quietly keeping people on the South-side of Cheyenne happy. It's smoked meat sold by-the-pound with sides to match. When family comes to visit and I need a quick big meal to feed hungry people with something original and uniquely "Cheyenne," I call in an order to AB. Was no one there at 7 pm , the staff was lackadaisical! Not very helpful for being our first time . I ordered the brisket and pulled pork plate . The girl just reached into the warmer and pulled a chunk of brisket out. Looked like it had been sitting in there all day . And sliced off a few strips . We had one chocolate, one cherry. Yum. Restaurant is open 4-8 pm and is located at the front of an RV park (AB Campground). It is so popular that some items sell out, so don't wait too late! Seating for maybe 20 people but they do a big take-out business. Location is a 5 minute drive for Tru by Hilton, Springhill Suites, Home2 Suites, and Comfort Inn. read more

'Small restaurant adjacent to a small RV Park. We're staying at the park so decided to mossy on up for some barbecue. OMG are we glad we did! The pulled pork was moist , the sauce was tangy, the potato salad surprisingly tasty, the baked beans very good and the portions very generous. We are definitely happy campers! Great prices, and really good food. I have never been here and then was confused because it's in an RV Parks office area so wasn't sure I was going to the right place. When I went inside the staff was super nice. I got the quarter chicken which had amazing flavor, ribs which were some of the best I've ever had, corn which well tested like corn nothing special, and baked beans which were good but vinegar based. The rolls were super soft and the chocolate cream pie was awesome especially for someone that doesn't typically care for dessert. The only downfalls were the BBQ sauce which thank goodness none of the food needed and the chopped brisket was just ok. Other than that I was beyond impressed and would live on their ribs. The beef nachos were a great value for $7. Fresh and flavorful. The 1/2 rack of ribs were excellent. Tender, and a hearty, smoked flavor. The only thing that might have improved them was to remove the membrane off of the back. But, they tasted great, and I only used a small amount of the bbq sauce. The coleslaw was good, as expected. Nothing but love for this place. You have to look for them as they are not in your traditional location. The restaurant is in the middle of nowhere in the front of an RV campground, but dont be fooled by the look or location, well worth stopping in. Tender Ribs that fall off the bone, Brisket that is juicy with the perfect touch of smoke. Service is the way it used to be, friendly with a smile and thank you. I love local restaurants. AB BBQ does not disappoint at being a restaurant that has an amazing menu. Why only four stars? I want to give that last star, but the sauce, the sauce just leaves something to be desired. It's almost too tomato-y? We ended up just getting the meat itself, so a half point of pork and a half pound of brisket. The meat was amazing, no fat, falling apart on the fork. The staff was super busy (they were taking care of both the camp ground and the restaurant) but they managed to get us what we wanted fairly fast. I would not hesitate to go there again. I've driven by this place a hundred times since moving to Cheyenne two years ago! My Dad was in town and I always try and find somewhere new to eat each time he comes to town. We are driving through Wyoming and found this place through yelp. AB BBQ is small diner style order at the counter serve your own drink, friendly service joint, located adjacent to a camp ground. They got their smoking technique dialed in the way BBQ is meant to be enjoyed! I had the two meat/two side entree with ribs, pulled pork, potato salad, coleslaw, and pickle. Everything was done right! Pork and ribs were evenly smoked (rich sweet smoke) without overpowering the flavor of the meats. Pork was juicy and ribs were juicy and fall of the bone tender. Potato salad was creamy and well balanced. Coleslaw was crisp, fresh and perfectly dressed. The roll was soft and light. Even the dang pickle was solid yet crisp.
