Single meat platter - burnt ends, collards and Mac n cheese
Jessica J.

Excellent BBQ, sauces, sides AND margaritas! We're here in WP for three weeks. This is our second visit to The Smokehouse in the last 10 days. The first time we were disappointed upon arrival when they were out of burnt ends. We're from KCMO and we judge a town's BBQ by their burnt ends. Nonetheless, the brisket, sauces and sides were enough to warrant a second visit. Oh, and that house margarita...chef's kiss! Just what a tired ass mom needs after a long day of "hey moms." On the second visit, I went early at 4PM and ordered carryout. AND a margarita while I waited! The margarita is simple, the perfect size and made with all fresh ingredients. It rivals more notable ones around town. This time, they had ALL the burnt ends and boy, were they worth the wait! I got a one meat platter with burnt ends, collards and Mac n cheese. My husband got a two meat platter with burnt ends, brisket, beans and slaw. We got KC and Texas sauces (they have 5 or 6 to choose from, all inspired by different BBQ regions in the US). Both platters came with cornbread which is the only thing that needs some work IMHO. It's small, dry and not worthy of the calories. But EVERYTHING else was soooo good! Fatty, juicy, flavorful meats. Balanced sauces. And delicious sides! The Mac, collards and beans get an A+, the slaw is a solid B. Service was great on both visits. Friendly, efficient and fast! One thing to note is they have an adorable patio. I've not eaten out there yet but it's well maintained with lots of flowers and good coverage from the sun. Might have to check it out on our third visit!

Great barbecue with many sauce options! The KC and Bama Bbq sauces were my personal favorites. I had the burnt end sandwich with a side of Mac and cheese. Very creamy with a good balance of pepper in that mac. The spot was fun and had a dead head vibe if you like Grateful Dead you will appreciate the decor. Prices on par for a mountain town lunch spot. Will be back for sure to try other things on the menu. Great spot to refuel after a hike or ski!

Not the most amazing BBQ in my personal opinion, and understandably overpriced (as most other places in WP). The suggested tip showing up on the terminal at order time, was also quite steep given the lack of staff friendliness we interacted with. As a positive, the portions were quite large and we took some food home. Overall a decent place for us to stop for gluten free/celiac needs so it worked out ok but not sure I'd return if I was back in WP...

I would give Smokehouse BBQ 3.75 stars. You order at the counter and seat/bus yourself which I find common with BBBQ restaurants. The decor is on par with similar restaurants. Staff was friendly but you have limited interactions with them. The sides (Mac and cheese, potato salad, and fries) were the highlight in my opinion and were flavorful. Meat was just okay and a little dry for me. The cornbread was also dry and lacking "corn" taste so I didn't bother eating it. Probably would not return in the future.

Southern BBQ in Winter Park, Yes! Popped in for lunch on Monday, early. Glad we did, as place got busy as we were leaving. Had the Colorado Cuban sandwich and a side of Mac & Cheese. That sandwich rocks! See the attached video. Try their house made sauces, delicious. Gonna stop in here again before we leave and try dinner.

Plenty of food

Gave it a try. It was good. Brisket and Potato salad was good and large serving that is enough for at least 2 people. Mac and cheese is creamy and large serving as well. Corn bread biscuits had good flavor. Homemade lemonade was not too tart or sweet. The service was good and the place has a funky vibe ( we didn't like the artwork) and the music is a bit loud. Easy to find and easy to park. Loved the beautiful hanging baskets outside and it also had a nice patio.

Chicken thighs + Coleslaw + Mac n Cheese

Visiting from Indiana and this is hands down THE BEST BBQ I've ever had. Better than TN, AL, GA. The staff are amazing and it's an all around fun vibe. Do yourself a solid and stop here! Or even better have Shawn cater for your group!!

You order first and then they give you a number and you go find a table to sit down. - Smokehouse Sampler 2.3/5 The meats were SO DRY. They have a lot of bbq sauces to try but the meats were so dry.... Ribs 3.1/5 Tasted good but was SO DRY and some parts of the ribs were hard and inedible... Burnt Ends 4.2/5 These were my favorite! They were the most tender and juicy out of all the meats.. too bad they only give two small pieces. Sausages 2.9/5 Basic sausages but also dry??? How can sausages be this dry.. Chicken 1.8/5 These were VERY DRY... and only comes in a few slices? Pulled Pork 1.8/5 Just as dry as the chicken.... - Brisket 2.7/5 Still dry but some pieces were OK.. - Potato Salad 1.6/5 Heavily underseasoned.. n - Baked Beans 5/5 These were so flavorful and delicious! - Coleslaw 1.7/5 Bland and kind of sour? - Mac and Cheese 1.9/5 Under seasoned... bland.. Free parking in lot.

"Really good BBQ, especially the brisket and sausage - both had amazing smoke flavor. The mac and cheese, potato salad, and fries were super tasty, too! I wish I'd tried the ribs, but there was a small mix-up with my order. No big deal, though - I was still very happy with everything, including the service. Highly recommend!"

If I could rate it higher I would! Best baked beans I've ever had. Family meal is a great value instead of each getting individual platters. This fed 4 of us and we still had leftovers.

Sides were really the only quality part of the meal, our tables were dirty, silverware & plates were dirty. The staff was very attentive which was appreciated. Brisket was dry, pulled pork had no flavor, sausage links were dry and tasted like straight black pepper. Definitely not the type of BBQ I'm use to. Sauces were different a good kind of different!

Brisket, kids meal, BBQ plate

BBQ like Texas-to perfection and the only place I've ate at in Colorado to nail it! I'll eat here every time I'm in Winter Park

Family platter. Brisket, pulled pork, hot links, turkey and chicken thighs.

So, no parking pass meant we stopped at A Frame instead. And, seriously, best decision ever. As soon as you walk in, you know this place is different. We came in during the winter holidays and loved the decorations, the small touches and the festive space. Think minimal elegance with a chill vibe. We headed to the bar and enjoyed some really well made craft cocktails. Staff were awesome - really friendly, attentive and shared some laughs with us. While we only had drinks (that were soooo good!), we were already bookmarking A Frame to return for dinner. If our cocktails were any indication of what's to come, we're in.

The restaurant food was awesome - we got the charcuterie, burger and lamb pasta then finished the night with the cookie skillet which was my personal favorite. The staff was extremely friendly and made us feel right at home and the ambiance inside was so cozy, a perfect spot for winter. Also grabbed breakfast burritos and coffee from the restaurant in the morning too, they have bagels and alcohol for sale as well!

Good spot to watch sports games too, they have a lot of TVs around. Ordered the double ditch burger with onion rings, and a house marg. The burger was awesome. Definitely messy and was falling apart by the last few bites, but well worth it. The green chiles were a nice touch for some flavor and heat but not overpowering. Definitely filling and the move after a long ski day. The onion rings were good too - nice and crisp. The marg was strong and a fair price. Overall had a great experience here and would recommend and return.

If the weather is nice enough I suggest sitting on the patio. They have a gorgeous view and plenty of seating. We tried the Juantons and they are served with their spicy green chile.
