This place is small, but wasn't crazy packed last Friday night which was a pleasant surprise. The space is warm and the service is top notch. I tried a Negroni, which I had never had before but figured this place is known for its cocktails and I like gin, so why not. And it was good and STRONG! Defintiely worth the $9. As I was nursing my drink, my ice melted they were more than happy to top me off with some more ice, no judgement. The beer selection is eclectic I would say, with Tecate cans and then craft beers on draft. I will definitely be back and may just ask for a off-menu cocktail since people have been recommending that. It's a nice alternative to the U-street bars that my friends and I seem to end up at all too often. read more

LOVE this place. Great hipster bar in Shaw, also right next to a decent late night pizza place. Really good beer - I don't like stouts, but they have one that's fantastic (can't remember the name). They've also got trappist beers, which can be hard to find. I've heard their cocktails are strong, so you're definitely getting your money's worth there. All Souls is that trusty ace to keep in your hand - or, in your mental list of "go to" bars, that is. It's small, stylish, and chock-full of attractive cocktail options. But what you really should know is that the bartenders don't mess around when it comes to mixing drinks. I can't think of another bar where the drinks are as consistently strong. Whether it's a French 75 or an Old-Fashioned that you're in the mood for, you'll be getting quite the buzz for your $8-$9. A friend and I ran out of liquor in the apartment, so we decided it may be a good idea to hit All Souls. Admittedly, my friend and I arrived moments before last call. The bartender gave us a very strong pour of Knob Creek on the rocks. Good. Other patrons were very friendly. Also good. Within about 10 minutes, the house lights came up. Yeah, yeah. I get it. "You don't have to go home, but you can't stay here". I did not, however, expect one of the employees of the bar (looked a lot like Charlie from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia") to walk up to where my friend and I were standing and actually pull the drinks out of our hands aggressively. I've never seen anything like that in a place that charges $17 for a double. Classy. Needless to say, we won't be back. Pity considering my friend's apartment is on the same block and we're both raging alcoholics. Could have made quite a bit of money from us in the future. read more

Stumbled upon All Souls (a corner) Bar in the Shaw neighborhood and wanted to check out the new spot. Got there around 830pm on Monday night. All the bar seats (12-14) were taken but there were a few tables for two available. By the time we ordered our drinks, stools at the high table by the window facing T Street opened up. People watching is my favorite, so I'd say that's the best seat in the house. I ordered a glass of Malbec and E had a pint of Bells Stout. Dave, the owner & bartender, brought over some water and introduced himself. We chatted about the opening and such. First impression, great guy! E ordered a few small pours (10 oz) - Heavy Seas (I think?) Pale Ale and Lagunitas IPA. To change it up a bit, we moved to a table for the last part of the night. A few details of the bar that I love - 1. Short menu covers beer, wine, and specialty cocktails (plus full bar). Everyone should be able to find something without feeling overwhelmed! Note - no food but I noticed someone at the bar with a pizza box. Maybe you can bring in your own? 2. High ceilings and big windows! 3. Background music was playing at the perfect volume. Great atmosphere for actual conversation. 4. TVs hooked up but not on. I feel like we've come to love three page beer menus and cocktails in mason jars. All Souls focused on the basics and hits it home. This is just a bar, but in the best way possible. read more

This is a great local spot to pop in for a drink and a low-key night with friends. This is a no-frills place and doesn't serve food, but I love that people can bring in any food they want. During the summer the patio is my favorite! Its a pretty place with great service. Good for a few drinks or a group pizza (pizza D'oro is next door) night during the summer. read more

This is a nice little cleaner hole in the wall style spot. I don't believe that they have food (or else I missed it), but it's got a great cozy atmosphere that's slighty off the beaten path. I love All Souls. It is officially my new (winter season) neighborhood bar. There's a well-chosen selection of beers on tap, wines, and some stellar cocktails. Honestly, they make the best Negroni I've ever had -- and I also really enjoyed the All Souls cocktail -- for those moments when you just can't decide between whisky and bubbly. Still has great drinks and awesome bartenders, but when I came back last weekend after some time I learned that they don't allow standing on their patio, just seating, which for lack of a better word is just stupid. We hung out here last Friday for my GFs bday. Had about dozen people on the patio, our man with the Redskins snap back killed the service! Tried out All Souls last night. It's very small, but has a good vibe and good music, including James Brown several times. They have a small but decent drink selection. There's no food, but they let bring your own in from wherever. They have a small kitchen area though, presumably for washing glasses, but maybe enough to have a few small plates or snacks soon??? read more

Stopped in here the other day before a show at the Howard. Loved the cozy neighborhood feel. They had a list of really good cocktails. Since you can only find on the full list online. I had a number 6. Makers and grapefruit juice (the pink kind!). It was delicious! They only have snacks, but the bartender told me you can bring your own food in. I tried there baked cheese stamps. Light and tasty! Perfect for nibbling on at the bar. I ended up coming back after the show and had the "all souls" a shot of makers and a glass of rosè. Perfect night cap! One of my favorite cocktails bar in DC. It was super crowded during happy hour, but people come in and out often enough that you can find a seat when you stay long enough. The cocktails were delicious and STRONG. Simplicity is key. This can easily be one of my favorite pre-date night cocktails bar. Nothing pretentious, nothing too fancy.. just simple cocktails done exceptionally well. I'd suggest this for pre-date night. Everyone seems to love this place and I was not displeased but just kind of bored. I like the small, speakeasy almost type atmosphere. Maybe I was just not in the mood and it was too quiet. The beer and drink options were good, but plenty of spots in the area are as good or better. But with food and more fun. Love this place. It's a great neighborhood bar. It's pretty small, so it can get busy on weekend nights, but the bar staff is very attentive. They keep a small, but varied and interesting, selection of beers. Their cocktails are all fairly simple yet thoughtful. Prices are very fair. An absolute gem! The outdoor patio is very nice in the summertime, and adds some much-needed capacity to the bar. They don't serve food (though I think you can order nuts/olives/bar snacks), but they are cool with you bringing in food from outside. read more
