I had always thought the vet techs at Allcare Veterinary genuinely cared about the well-being of our pets so that's why I switched to them about two years ago. My dog recently went in for the removal of a mass on his eye lid and Dr. Grossbard said it will be taken care of with no problem. After the procedure, the cone has been kept on except when my dog is being fed, given water or taken outside and I watched him like a hawk to ensure that he didn't scratch his stitches once. After the removal of his cone, I noticed a whitish tint in his eye so he was brought in for a checkup. The doctor said it could've been a complication due to the stitches, the stitches might've been rubbing his cornea and made an ulcer. I'm pretty upset because lately my dog has been acting very antisocial after his procedure. He still happily greets our guests, but after a few minutes, it's like he realizes his discomfort and goes off somewhere secluded. It just saddens me to know that he is in pain even though I agreed to have the procedure done to remove his discomfort in the first place. I have a follow-up soon and I really hope that the damage to his eye isn't permanent and that Allcare Veterinary Hospital will do what they can to get him back to his happy self soon with minimal pain. The vet tech there is always super friendly and my dog loves her, but the receptionist needs an attitude adjustments. I believe her name is Sondra and she seems to not have a care in the world. I would be standing there for ten minutes or more and there's absolutely no acknowledgement or update until I say something. When I ask to be provided with certain documents, I usually don't get it till days later and most of the time it's after I reached out again for the update. read more

Longtime client chastised and belittled by the Allcare front desk staff for being slightly late (less than 10 minutes) for an appointment due to construction in the front of the clinic blocking the street. Very rude, unfriendly, arrogant attitude seems to be acceptable at this clinic to lecture and belittle a customer even when the "lateness" is within their clinic's policy. Dr. Grossbard and I have disagreed about unnecessary screening tests in the past which I felt pressured to pay for. I've brought all of my pets here starting with my first cat who no one could diagnose, but Dr Grossbard did. Then I brought my first dog who had malignant cancer but survived thanks to Dr Grossbard. When my other cat passed recently, I took him to an emergency room and they let the Allcare Team know about his passing. Allcare sent me a beautiful card with handwritten notes inside from the staff and it was one of the kindest gestures I've received. Been driving down to Pacifica from SF for close to 10 years to see Dr G due to easy parking & cheaper charge comparing to SF. However, fee's been creeping up & up and now actually $1 more than my SF vet. At the same time the service quality has gone way down since Dr G no longer saw patients due to personal medical issue about 18 months ago. Brought 2 dogs in for annual checkup within last 15 months and saw 2 different vets (temporary substitutes??). My 1-eye 3-leg dog saw a Dr. Cynthia Essig for quick checkup & annual shot in Nov. 2025. The vet assistant was excellent. But when Dr. Essig came into the exam room, she first spent 2 minutes trying to upsell another expensive vaccine shot (no need since I don't take my dog to dog park/nature trail hike). After I declined & told her my dog could bite she asked the assistant to come back into the room to hold the dog. Then she used a Q-tip to raise the dog's muzzle & told me he had tartar (don't need to pay $110 for her to tell me that). After that she again tried to upsell some chewing biscuits for better dental health. After I declined she then concluded the exam. She DID NOT listen for heart murmur, examine the dog's eye and mobility (again this is a 1-eye 3-leg dog), nor run her hands over the dog's body to feel for lumps and bumps. These are all basic exams that should be included in an annual checkup. With such poor care and service from Dr. Cynthia Essig, I have stopped coming to Allcare and gone back to see my SF vet. read more

Dr. Goldfarb is a great vet. He knows how to guide you through complicated decisions, and he never leaves anything out. My dog Charlie has had dental surgery, cancer tumor removal surgery, several years of wellness, vaccinations and ear infections, and he even remembers things like the fact that my dog needs liquid pain meds. Prices are consistently about half of what the SF SPCA charges, and he does what he can to keep costs down. But what makes this place great is a whole office full of 5-star staff that are as good at their jobs as he is at his -- from the person who answers the phones to the medical team. I went to the SF SPCA for a decade, and they still didn't know who I was when I went in, but these guys know us AND our history. Easy easy to get there from the city (BART to Daly City), then the 110 Samtrans bus which drops you off right at the corner. read more

Our Baby Boy Cisco was a patient here for 12.5 years. It wasn't a smooth start but I trusted Dr. Jeremy because he was starting out at the time and I felt like I believed in him. He truly cared for our boy and he cared for my family. He saw Cisco grow from a Pup to an Old Man and I felt Dr. Jeremy was invested in his care the whole way. It was very hard to write my thank yous to this Clinic because it was so emotional, I will provide that thank you soon. I admit, they are understaffed, and it does take time. Called to get an estimate for X-rays for my dog, and the receptionist was incredibly short and semi-rude. Vets should have some sort of range they can provide, otherwise, come off like they are hiding something.. Read a couple of good reviews, but scratched this vet off my list. If they're like that with me, no way I trust them with my dog. Also, I've called other vets and they were very helpful and understanding, so caring clinics are out there, but like I said - scratched this one off my list entirely. read more

Do not go to Dr. G. if you use pet insurance. I can see from another review that mine is not a unique experience. Apparently he has a strong aversion to doing insurance claims. My insurance company needed the office notes from my dog's visit in order to process the claims. This is a standard requirement. They reached out to his office multiple times and got no response. I as well called twice asking them to respond to the insurance company. I then went and asked in person and sent an email asking them to provide me with the office notes. Each time, the staff's response was it's up to Dr. G. to provide the notes and only he can do it. Under regulation CCR 2032.3(b), they have 5 days to provide me with the notes. This went on for 3 months. Finally, I had to file a complaint with the Veterinary Medical Board of CA in order to get my pet's records. I got it a few weeks afterwards. Imagine if this was instead an urgent medical issue and you couldn't get the records for a diagnosis. This was not a case of Dr. G. having a bad few months and neglected his work. A few years ago, I had another dog which I also filed a claim for. The insurance came back with questions which I had to direct to Dr. G. He called me to tell me that he was the only one doing these insurance claims and he doesn't have time for all these followups. At the end, that claim got denied. I had switch Dr. right afterwards. In the next few years, out of 3 dozen claims from 7 different clinics/hospital (my dog was very sickly), that was the only one that ever got denied. But time faded my memory and I ended up going back again with another dog and had to learn the lesson again. I hope this review prevents others from going through what I went through. I felt like my money was held hostage due to laziness. read more

After having received good care there for over 10 years with various pets, it was heart breaking how the staff treated us and our dog Neo when it came to his end of life cancer diagnosis. We understood when he came down with complicated symptoms that they could not fit him last minute for blood panels nor aspirate his lymph nodes. So we had to take him to a much more expensive emergency cary in SF. When the tests came back that he had terminal cancer ( Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma) at just under 3 years old and an Australian Shepherd, we were extremely shocked! When we tried to schedule a visit with Allcare for the following week as they had been the only Vet team he had seen since he was a puppy and we wanted him to be with familiar people in a familiar place, they said maybe in 3 weeks. The dog was on major pain meds and no way we would keep him alive for 3 weeks, it was important to manage this as soon as was reasonable. But no the office staff had no sympathy or care about us or our dog. After choosing them for so many years it was very hard to process and so we took him to his last visit at the emergency clinic in SF, they were very kind and thoughtful. It's been two years and needless to say when I do get another dog I will look for a new Vet with a team of people I hope have more care and compassion for their patients than Allcare. I am writing this as a warning to others, but also as a critique to the staff to try to have more compassion for clients that could have been life long, if only they had been more kind and thoughtfu. It took me 2 years to write this, grief and major life changes have not changed the disappointment I still feel and the lack of trust that comes along with that. read more

I have taken my dog here for the past 3 years and after today's appointment, I will NOT be returning. Dr. Grossbard is great but his staff... not so much. I was told my appointment was cancelled because I arrived at 3:39pm for my 3:30pm slot. I was told I had until 3:37pm to make the appointment and they cancelled it because I did not pick up their call. I was unable to pick up the phone because I was driving and the lady had the audacity to say I can use Siri. Well the law is you cannot talk and drive! Also, do you know there is traffic coming to Pacifica during rush hour???? 7 minute grace period is RIDICULOUS, unheard of for any practice. Allcare has delayed my appointment start time in the past but us clients are not allowed to be less than 10 minutes late?! As I am explaining my situation to the front desk lady, the man behind her gestures me to quiet down because he is working. How rude is that!! It's evident Rick has no customer service nor empathy. First of all, Allcare was the one who originally rescheduled my appointment due to THEIR conflict and now they won't take my dog because I was 2 minutes late. Mind you, this was a quick vaccine appointment with the nurse so I was not holding up the actual visit line. Front desk lady also could not pull up the fine print that has this appointment cancellation policy. To make matters worse, the front desk lady kept arguing with me that I was 9 minutes late. NO IT'S 2 MINUTES BECAUSE YOU SAID THE CUTOFF IS 3:37pm. How can someone not be livid after being THIS humiliated at the vet? No I won't be returning nor referring my friends to your practice. I will be looking for a clinic that knows and shows compassion to not just animals, but also to their human parents. read more

If I would have left this review after our first and only visit to Allcare for a wellness exam for our dog, it would have been 5 stars. Unfortunately, that appointment was in November of 2022 and we are now in July of 2023 and Allcare has still not provided the necessary documentation of the exam to our insurance to get our dog covered. I came back to all care veterinary after going to Martinez animal Hospital for a couple of years. Their prices were extremely high. I was so delighted with the doctor and his exemplary work ethic. If he can save you money, he's going to save you money. He is very very honest and possesses a great deal of integrity. I absolutely love his bedside manner. He sat and chatted with me like he had all the time in the world, he was very informative and engaging, and he listened to all of my questions and answered every single one of them, I'm not changing ever again. HE SEES RATS!!!!!! Dr. Grossbard is my go to vet these days! I've had rats for years and have tried many vets in the Bay Area and now I always bring them to him! I have no car and I'm in San Francisco but it's so worth it to rent a car to go to him. The drive down is super quick because it's mostly highway! And I've always been able to schedule an appointment quickly which is amazing given this is a one vet practice!! Not to mention his prices are totally reasonable. Fortunately I've got my rats on health insurance (Nationwide; that's another 5 star review for another time!) so the money isn't a big issue for me but he's always very aware of prices which I appreciate since most vets treat rats as exotic and the prices get exorbitant!! I will say unfortunately since it's a smaller vet clinic he doesn't have an in house nebulizer but he went above and beyond recommending one for me that ended up being even cheaper than nebulizer treatments have cost me at other places! And he gave me the saline with medication ready to go. It's hard with rats with so many vets that won't see them (even if they're dying in pain; I've had to drive very far for an emergency euthanasia in the middle of the night!) but during business hours Dr. Grossbard is who I completely trust with my rats. He also isn't afraid to dish out some honesty! My poor rats keep getting sniffles and we very honestly and openly talked about their living situation and what can and can't be changed. There was no blame being thrown around but he helped me figure out how to improve their space (such as changing their bedding). One last thing, he is very receptive to emails for follow up treatments. This has been VERY nice especially since that means I don't have to rent a car again if I just need a quick medication adjustment (and they use a compounding pharmacy that ships to you!). This has included sick visits, preventive care, dental cleaning, skin care, flea prevention, and serious illnesses for my 3-5 cats. Most recently one cat's urinary problem and dental decay were handled beautifully, and she is recovering nicely. My cats seem to feel secure and safe in the hands of all the staff. I am utterly shocked that I have to do this review but my experience should be broadcasted and hopefully dr. Grossbard will read this to see what is happening at his veterinary hospital!! First of all dr. Grossbard is amazing!! He is caring, kind and very knowledgeable. My dog Otter has been his patient for over 10 years and I always felt that Otter was in good hands!! His receptionists on the other hand are a different story, rude, thoughtless, completely uncaring and super uncooperative. About a month ago I called to make an appointment. Otter was having seizures and we needed meds. (We went to ER of course and got needed help/meds right away but ER doesn't refill meds that is why I was calling our veterinary office). Careless receptionist (don't remember her name) decided to schedule me in a month. I told her that we needed something sooner, maybe in a week or two. There was a lot of back and force and she was just becoming ruder and ruder. At some point I had no more patience for her so I talked to a different receptionist who had a lot of appointments available in the same week. I felt it was pretty odd... Dr.Grossbard was not in so we saw dr. Sanches. She prescribed meds and told me that Otter had to be on them forever. I picked up the prescription and brought it to Walmart. It looks like dr. Sanches didn't give refills. Walmart manager asked to bring a new prescription or to have it faxed. Now receptionist Liza (who is super uncooperative) is refusing to fax it to the pharmacy and asking to contact the pharmacy again to have them fax the authorization which Walmart is refusing to do so. Allcare vet is not using modern technology, their prescription is missing fax number and the wait time when calling them is forever. I absolutely understand Walmart in this case but I don't understand Liza's attitude. She didn't even let me finish my sentence and kept giving me her unlicensed opinion/instructions. I am sure dr. Sanches or dr. Grossbard would have zero problem refilling my dog's meds if they knew the situation, but Liza kept on talking instead of passing on my message. Shame on you Liza!! We don't call because we have nothing else to do, we call because our fur babies are sick and your inconsiderate behavior is disgusting. You are just an unkind person who sits at her desk saying "no this, no that, we can't do it and don't let people finish the sentence". It should be more "I understand, let me check what the doctor will say or do". You made zero effort helping!! Entire reception staff is horrible, my suggestion - find a better veterinary hospital for your fur babies because they deserve the BEST!! We definitely won't be coming here again!! read more

This place is now a RIP OFF!!! I had a female cat spayed at this place in 2014 for $250. The shots were included. And now I got a female kitten that needs to be spayed. And I emailed them asking for the current price. You know what they quoted me? They want $500 to $800 depending on the age of the cat. Shots not included. We are facing hard times right now especially after covid. All they want is $$$. Trust me take your animals else where. These people just want $$$. But thanks to their suggestion. They said if you can't afford $800 spay, go contact SPCA for their spay clinic. So I called SPCA of San Francisco. They charge just $275, shots included. Kitten must be at least 2 months old. I will bring my cat to SPCA then. Why would All Care charge up to $800 shots NOT INCLUDED if SPCA charges only $275 everything included? I still can't understand this. Maybe All Care only works for millionaires. (I am a millionaire. 4 million dollars net worth to be exact. But even I am not willing to pay $800 for this. I am rich. But I am not insane.) Here is my email conversation with them: Me: I need to spay a female kitten, about 1 month old. How much? And how much are the shots? All Care: Our ballpark estimate for a spay is somewhere around $500-$800, and that depends on what the doctor recommends. In terms of the vaccinations, all of the regular vaccines for cats are $36 each, but we would still need to see her first. Me: Can you spay my cat for $250? If not, don't even bother to contact me anymore. All Care: Unfortunately, we would not be able to do that. If you are looking for something more low cost, I would recommend try calling the SF SPCA or Peninsula Humane Society. Me: Then don't contact me back dammit? I learned about All Care from a friend and have sent many of my clients here based on her trusted word. This is the first time I've been, and WOW. From first contact everyone has been polite, cheerful, helpful, professional and thorough. Making an appointment was easy, getting them both pets' records was easy, getting there was easy. It only took a minute from the time I let them know I had arrived for someone to come get both animals from the car. (Covid precautions) I got a call from the vet after he examined them both. He explained what he wanted to talk about (cat then dog) but first, did I have any concerns or questions about either animal? I'm sold at that moment. So we talk about my concerns (cat then dog in his order), he addresses every one of them thoroughly and even puts me on hold a couple of times to address things with his staff (this is critical because in a busy practice even if there are notes taken things get missed. Doing it this way everything is handled at the moment.). He even did another exam on the cat for something I had noticed and wasn't sure about. Then we get to the dog. I brought him in for a bad tooth but had thought it's time for them both to get a good dental exam and develop a relationship with a vet who has a brick and mortar for on the spot lab work and surgeries (like dentals). He went into detail about what he found, what the best course of treatment was that would be the most cost effective for me - did you get that? He was truly concerned about me spending money! And the conversation was truly a conversation. He wasn't talking at me or to me, it was a reciprocal talk about the best care for my animals. I made the appointment right away for the dental work on the dog, and I set up reminders with them for both of their annual/bi-annual tests and vaccines. Dr. G even went into detail about how he's going to work it so they both get all their stuff in the same month because one appointment for both is better for me and them than multiple appointments for both. THIS IS AWESOMENESS! If you need a vet, or aren't really happy with your vet, give this place a shot. You won't be disappointed! read more

This is by far the best vet clinic I could ask for. Especially as a young 20 something just doing my best to take good care of my 2 cats. They have ALWAYS done their best to give us the most affordable options and have been able to squeeze our "problem child" in super last minute EVERY time, and saved us from many expensive ER visits. All Care Vet is the best veterinarian I've ever taken my animals too. I've been to a lot of places in the San Francisco Bay area. There's always been something I didn't trust about veterinarians. Dr G and his staff are wonderful people. The first time in my life I felt like I was being told the truth and not being up sold for things that my animals didn't need. But more than that actually have been talked out of certain procedures because they were unnecessary and that was the first. I totally trust All Care veterinarian. Very grateful for this clinic and everyone there. I wish we would have taken our dog here years ago vs. another clinic down the road. A recent, abnormally high quote from our normal vet for our dog's paw made us get a second opinion; thank goodness we did. The doctor here came up with a better treatment plan and saved us hundreds of dollars. The doctor, Jermey took his time to listen, explain and provide cost effective solutions, all while keeping our dog's best. I found him to be very competent and knowledgeable. The reception staff was awesome too. Melissa made a same day appointment (within an hour of me calling) and gave us a really warm welcome when we got there. Our sweet doggo Papi has been coming to see Dr. Grossbard for around 12 yrs now. Papi was diagnosed with a nasal tumor and we wanted Dr. Grossbard's opinion prior to making a decision on how to proceed. The whole office staff helped bring our puppy in for a last check up even though it was last minute. They called us right after a last-minute cancellation popped up and were so understanding about our situation. Papi was able to see Dr. Grossbard one last time that day. We appreciate all your help through out the years and are so thankful for all the understanding and care towards our baby!
