I made an appointment for my Cat dodgy and I had to cancel it because she went under the bed and I couldn't get her out. I'm disabled and I couldn't lift the bed up and they're still trying to charge me a cancellation fee. I don't think that's right so I'm making this Yelp to let you guys know that if you go there and you have to cancel they're still gonna charge you. I took my other cat there and they told me the visit was gonna be 100 and something dollars that ended up being like $900. I'll just find someplace else to go. This is not cool. read more

This is a long overdue review. Unfortunately I lost my beloved cat in December 2024 but I so appreciate all the help and support coastal cat clinic had offered us. We worked closely with Dr Couture and she probably single handedly extended my cat's life by at least a year and helped reducing lots of her pain. I love their new location (which has plenty of parking) and love that it's for cats only. I took my cat to general pet hospitals before and all the dogs barking and sniffing around really added more stress to my cat. I currently don't have a cat anymore but if I ended up adopting one, this is where I will be taking my future cat:) read more

I bring my 3 cats here and usually spend around $500 each visit. The doctors and staff are wonderful, so far - kind, professional, and caring. I am a new cat mom and really need a lot of education on cats' issues. But today I was stunned by how the manager treated me. Instead of a hello, I was rudely told to remove my cat from the counter. Minutes later, the same harsh tone again when one cat was on a leash. I get that cleanliness matters, but kindness matters too. And how you say things also matter. That was not compassionate, kind or respectful. I don't need to be reminded that the counter would now need to be cleaned. I simply don't know as all the previous times I was at the clinic, this was all allowed. I am still learning - and there is a better way to communicate. What makes it worse? She didn't even step out to talk, citing an "internal meeting." That's not leadership, that's avoidance. This put pressure on the staff, who by the way, were all amazing and apologetic. Staff shouldn't apologize for manager's behavior! That's not good leadership. Love the doctors here, but management needs a serious lesson in customer service and communication skills. read more

I brought my cat here recently and we both loved it! The staff are all so kind, and even called days beforehand to offer to scoot up her appt given the health concerns I listed. My cat was given so much love, care, and attention during our visit, and Dr Ashwini walked me through all concerns and options for treatment patiently, clearly, and kindly. I didn't feel like they were pushing unnecessary treatments, nor did it take unnecessarily long to go through everything. It's clear that this place is run by people who love cats, own cats, and my cat seemed more at ease without the sound and smell of dogs around. I've been to several vets over the years, including other cat-only places, and Coastal Cat Clinic has been the best. Everyone I've interacted with there has been really kind and empathetic, and the level of service is outstanding. On my last visit, my cat was car sick and the staff immediately came to the rescue to help clean up. We've seen Dr. Glahn and can tell she really knows cats and takes the time to explain things and answer questions-- I've never felt rushed. I also appreciate that during our regular check-ups, I've never been pressured to do extra testing or unnecessarily put my indoor cat on flea medication. The office is also very responsive to questions and prescription refill requests. The office also feels great: clean, modern, and bright. Vet visits can be stressful but the place has a calming effect (the beautiful area doesn't hurt either!). read more

We saw Dr. Ashwini today, me and my little Russian Blue kitty, Bella. The doctor was calming to Bella and very sweet. Bella was so calm that she didn't cry while to doc was drawing blood for a basic blood panel. My kitty has lost a little weight and has been a bit sluggish, so she's being checked for possible health issues. Dr. Ashwini also checked her teeth and we saw that Bella's gingivitis had improved a good bit from her last exam with my previous vet, so she doesn't any need extra treatment right now. The clinic also offers a little extra discount for seniors, which is nice. The Veterinary Technician also offered some tips about a proper walking harness for cats, which is great, because taking your cat for a drag kinda sucks! read more

They reassured me that he is healthy and how I can lessen my cats irritated symptoms if he does get some. I am very impressed with the quality of care, especially with one of my cats who is terrified of anyone he does not know. This was his first visit and Dr. Ashwini knew how to create a "safe space" for him by being able to make him feel calm with her gentle, quiet, caring approach. Tesla on the front desk is also very knowledgable , helpful and friendly, actually all the staff are great and obviously love cats, and I noticed how much less stressful an experience it was for my 'boys" to visit a 'cat only " clinic. Oh my goodness! I finally found the best vet place to go to for my kitties! I have been searching the best vet care for the past 3 years for my older 3-year-old cat and I've been to a few places already. My friend caught one of the stray kittens for me, who kept coming to eat at his backyard. I was very concerned because he's so skinny and he didn't eat much on his first night with me. However, after coming back from the vet appointment with Dr. Cathy Glahn, he ate lots of food. Oh and they even included a few toys and a flea comb as gifts! Latte is already playing with the toys! This place was recommended by my cousin it's really hard to fine vets for little fur babies like trying to find a doctor for yourself or for your child. I live in San Francisco it's like 20 to 30 minute drive it depends,but it was worth it because the vet doctor Thea couture Dvm. Was extremely patient listening to what I was talking about tiger she did recommend that next time he comes he has to be a little bit sedated because he was hissing&growlin extremely loud which he normally doesn't but he got scared. She said was in good condition just need to get some blood work lose weight The food I was given might have been too rich for him due to he is 12 years old and it's recommend for younger cats. So she recommend the science diet or the Hills brand of food DD dietary which is for older cats its easier on their stomach. she also gave me a $25 discount because someone Recommended them to me so you & person each get $25 for The Visit off your bill I thought that was pretty cool. So if you're looking for vet you live in the area you might want to check this place out. read more

Dr Glahn is compassionate and takes great time to know our cats and explain their care. She is skilled and tracks details in preventative care, catching conditions early. We have a nervous cat that has bitten at other places and at this clinic she is not stigmatized and they have been confident in how to help her in appointments. The team is all kind and working so hard with curbside pick up. With how busy they must be with the pandemic they still take time to be empathetic and communicate. So glad to have switched over to Coastal Cat Clinic. Everyone was very friendly, from the front desk, nurse who picked up my cat from my car, and Dr. Couture. Location is in a quiet hidden area, but definitely not an issue because you drive by a beautiful view. Currently they're only doing curbside drop off so I stayed in the car during the appointment. Got a call in about 15/20 minutes and Dr. Couture was very informative. She told me Freddie was sweet and they gave him his vaccines and flea meds during the visit. I have been going to CCC for 13 years, we love the kind folks at the clinic. It started when my husband and I had to figure out what was going on with his elderly cat Mickey. Dr. Craig took her time to get a thorough history, and didn't order tests that were too invasive unless it was necessary. Unfortunately, his diagnosis was terminal and we had to say goodbye to our furry friend. Dr. Craig was kind and gentle, and gave us the time we needed to say goodbye. We adopted two kitties one year later, Smokey and Rocky. Smokey is a real terror, Dr. Craig, Dr. Glan and the vet tecs couldn't have been more gentle and calm with him. Most vets give my Smokey a wide berth, knowing there will be blood shed (he's cranky, perhaps I should have named him Caligula??). He does best at this clinic due to their calm demeanor. They all love cats and are gentle and kind. My cats are happy and I'm happy. I would highly recommend CCC to anyone. read more

I drive all the way from San Francisco to bring my Bengal cat, Zion, here because I want him to have the very best vets looking after him. This should tell you how highly I think of Coastal Cat Clinic. I am the parent of a cat that, while only 3 years old, has suffered from many medical conditions. The visit that stands out to me the most is when I took Zion in for persistent vomiting. I brought him in and Dr. Tanzella explained what procedures she was going to do to examine him, what they would cost, and let me decide what route I wanted to take. We decided to go forward with x-rays, which revealed he had swallowed a long piece of string that was tangled in his intenstines. He needed emergency surgery to remove it, or he would die. They took him in to surgery immediately, and immediately after the surgery, Dr. Tanzella called me to give me a status update. When I picked him up, I was given clear instructions on how to care for him and administer his medication. I felt they did an excellent job, and they saved my baby's life. Since then, I've brought Zion in for everything from skin irritations to allergies - it turns out that for genetic reasons, he has a weak immune system. Every time I bring him in, the staff knows me and Zion by name. They are all animal owners and animal lovers, and it shows! I wouldn't trust my baby with anyone who didn't love thier animals as their own children, like I do. I am so thankful I found a place that I can trust. I also love that they have Saturday hours, and they also have partnerships with vet specialists (which I have been referred to as well) such as Veterinary Vision (pet optometrists) and San Francisco Veterinary Specialists (for complex chronic medical conditions or after hours emergencies). I could not be happier with Coastal Cat Clinic and I am very thankful for all they've done for me and my baby. With them, your kitties will be in the absolute best of hands :) read more

My Vet in Hawaii, Carol Fujioka, recommended Coastal Cat Clinic to me. I've been taking Emma here for 4 years and have not been disappointed. Two weeks into my new life in SF, Emma developed an abscess in her foot that needed tending to. Dr. Craig was able to see her the next morning and operated on her in the afternoon. Turns out she had quite an abscess and needed to have 2 toes de-clawed. Thankfully that was all she needed. She healed up well and was back on all 4's in no time flat. When Paisley joined the family, she needed "fixin" too. It would have been cute to see Paisley have a bunch of kittens... Reality kicked in and Dr. Craig took great care of Paisley too. When I went in to pick her up, she was all sleepy in a small kitty bed, getting spoiled by the staff. An omen of sorts... Coastal Cat Clinic is a great place to take you cats to. Love that it's cats only eliminating a level of stress for the patients and owners alike. The Staff are all very friendly and helpful. Dr. Tanzella and Dr. Rau have taken over where Dr. Craig left off (she retired, but does fill in from time to time). I cannot recommend this Clinic enough. Worth the drive to Pacifica. read more

My husband and I brought our two kitties here for a preventative care visit and it was a very painless experience. Our kitties hadn't been to the vet in years but they were much more relaxed here than they had been at veterinary offices that serve multiple species. Dr. Glahn answered our questions thoughtfully and made sure to connect us to online resources we might reference later. She didn't push unneccesary vaccinations on us since our cats are indoor-only and didn't try to to sell us the products they sold at the clinic; she just told us what we might buy later online or at the pet store to help with our cats' traveling anxiety and minor dental issues. Will be updating review after an official office visit but I just want to put this out there for people who want to try this place. In my opinion from everyone else's happiness of this place they seem like an awesome place to get care for your kitty. But I'm really upset with their cancellation fees and other fees as well. In a time where we are in a recession in a way of forcing a $70 cancellation fee is outrageous. Because I was unable to take 2 kitties for a check up they racked up a $140 cancellation fee and I understand because of taking an appointment that could of been given to someone else instead if I wasn't able to come or because of the veterinarians time, but I see this in a way to make commission still since a check up is $80 and if cancelled the vet will make the money back with this cancellation fee. I understand the reason of this but to be fair the cancellation fee should be lowered like $30-50. This can turn away future customers. I just hope they change this policy or the price lowered to help with the other expensive things we all worry about the least a expensive cancellation bill ! read more

On one of the rare occasions this place was actually open for business, I had to cancel an appointment due to illness. I called the night before, and canceled. they began calling and harassing me to pay an $85 cancellation fee, which I refused. Now they are after $100. The amount of time they spend calling me and writing me letters and harassing me they could be caring for animals. I'm without options - I have to pay the $100 but want to warn others of this horrible policy. stay away!! read more
