    Lasagne

We found this place leaving a coliseum tour. We saw this establishment tucked away down an alleyway. We figured let's try this place instead of those big giant patio places on the main street. The restaurant has a few tables covered with pop up tents or you can sit inside. We opted for outside. Beer and wine menu and food menus brought out. I had a Peroni chill lemon. Think a more lemony squirt with liquor in it. That was a perfect drink for a hot July afternoon. Only 1 server for the patio but he was on it. We started with suppli, giant fried rice balls with a teeny tiny amount of cheese. I thought the dish needed salt it was just kind of dry and underwhelming. I had the lasagna with meat sauce. It came out hot The pasta was impressive, paper thin sheets that still had a little chew in them. The portion was massive. My daughter had the margarita pizza with sausage. She didn't care for the dish. The sausage tasted and had the texture of diced up salami, the crust was crispy in the bottom but the top was still kind of doughy. No fresh bail. We also thought the crust was overly salty. Great service, cute patio meh food

We had some lovely vino with lunch. It was on the warmer side, so we went with a white wine. Had two Suppli which was new for us. It is similar to arancini, but is a Roman specialty made with tomato and mozzarella in addition to other "surprises". Can't go wrong with a deep fried rice ball to start. Then had a pizza perfectly made in a wood fired oven. Crunchy exterior with soft pillowy crust. Just straight basil and mozzarella on a tomato sauce (just tomato). This is how pizza should be made and set the bar high for the rest of the trip.

    Salad. Can't recall which one.

Bruschetta is a must! Pizza is nice, thin, and crispy. Service is great. Tiramisu isn't the greatest however.

Half eaten bruschetta and alle carrette: taleggio cheese, bacon and cherry tomato.

Food: 5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.75/5 After a visit to the colosseum and the Roman forum, we wandered into a dead end alley way and there was Alle Carrette. We first ordered a tomato bruschetta and the Alle Carrette. The tomato bruschetta was a good balance of crunchy and juicy from the tomato. For 2.50€, it wasn't too special but it was not bad. We wanted more, and ended up ordering another bruschetta prosciutto for 3€. We liked the tomato bruschetta more as it was juicy, while the prosciutto bruschetta was dry. The Alle Carrette was good. It was not cut into slices which gave a more authentic feel.

Good tasty thin pizza. Unbelievable, too, how quickly the pizza gets to your table, too. Off the beaten path, we were surrounded by more locals than American tourists. And their English is more proficient than our Italian. Very friendly service, we were treated as if we were loyal, local customers.

Grabbed a quick, cheap lunch here after visiting the colosseum. It was BUSY, but things moved quickly. We grabbed a few glasses of prosecco, the antipasti platter, and the crazy pizza. I was expecting a variety of food on the antipasti platter, but it was all meats. Pizza was good. Service was good. No complaints!

Roman style pizza. Definitely one of the memorable meals of the trip. Crispy & fresh pizza. Quick service. Good vibes. Would recommend!!

Great food. We tried 4 different pizza, all delicious. Price was very fair. It was jam packed in a Monday noon.

Great little Italian place hidden off the beaten path. Authentic food, and drinks had plenty of options. I had the white pizza called the Joe. The olive oil was delicious as was them prosciutto. Wife and daughter had the salmon bruschetta and split a Italian calzone. I don't like salmon, but it was very good on the bruschetta.

My friends and I walked up at 10:49pm and was turned away even though their hours are open until midnight. She was very rude.

By the time we were seated, dozens of people were waiting behind us. We sipped an Aperol spritz and lemonade while we waited, chatting with fellow diners who raved about the restaurant. On a sweltering day, our kids were starting to struggle in the heat when the owner came outside and gave them mini pizzas breads. It was a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome. Once seated, we ordered burrata, cacio e pepe, amatriciana pasta, pork chops, and fried artichokes. Everything was excellent, but the amatriciana was the standout--rich, savory, and unforgettable. The cacio e pepe was silky, the burrata fresh and creamy, the pork chops juicy, and the fried artichokes perfectly crisp. There's a reason people line up for Da Enzo. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere lively, and the hospitality remarkable. Without question, this was our best meal in Rome and one of our most memorable restaurant experiences.

The tomatoes were fresh and juicy but the burrata was a bit thick (referring to the outer aspect). Also the bread was a bit tough. The amatriciana was good, but not worth a 2 hour wait in a line, 7.5/10. Pasta was perfectly al dente, but the sauce wasn't anything to die for. I think you can get a very similar possibly better pasta in Rome without the wait. My girlfriend got the gnocchi pasta, which she said was a 7/10. The gnocchi was great, but again the sauce wasn't anything special Tiramisu, 10/10. This was amazing. It was sweet without being overpowering. The ladyfingers weren't soggy, and had that strong espresso taste. I would come back here just for this dessert. Also if you don't like cramped spaces, probably not the best spot. I could hear the people next to me better than I could hear the person across me haha.

Super pizza place with a lot of other great stuff on the menu…read more I looked with envy at the other tables who were enjoying spectacular plates of spaghetti with mussels. * * * That said, my pizza was a grand slam home run. Many of their pizzas are quite elaborate With all sorts of exotic ingredients. I went super simple. Gorgonzola. Mozzarella. That's it. Just enough Mozzarella to cut the Gorgonzola and make for a good melt. * * * If you have never had a gorgonzola pizza, you have never lived. Just sayin'. * * * P.S. My lovely wife got a Norwegian salmon pizza. The Norwegian salmon was stacked up high on her pizza As if she was in the World Series of Poker and she was a big winner. I have never seen so much salmon on one plate. After our meal, I made a discreet phone call to the Norwegian embassy in Rome asking them if they still had any salmon left. The woman at the embassy assured me the Norwegian salmon supply was fine. That surprises me given all the salmon that was on my wife's pizza.

Being new to Rome, and having walked 20k steps on our first day, there are an abundance of options a for dining. We wanted something classically Rome nearby to our hotel. The Yelp review of this restaurant was sufficiently positive to entice us. Being American, we appreciate the earlier-than-customary dining options. We arrived at 6pm without a reservation. We were seated immediately. The restaurant is intimate and very well staffed. The wood fire oven is front-and-center and the fresh mozzarella is prominent in display. We ordered a bottle of wine ... all options are very fairly priced. This is nice. We started with a Greek salad to share. It was unlike any American Greek salad ... and a really delight. It is early June but the tomatoes and peppers were ripe and crisp and really fresh. My wife ordered the Marguerite pizza; I opted for the Gorgonzola pizza (the effusive review on Yelp was compelling). Both were solid. We appreciate the thin crust and the crisp edged. The center of both, however, was doughy and somewhat undercooked. Looking around ... the restaurant was over 50% full even at this early hour. Most were Americans. We saw a good number of diners with pasta dishes ... and none were left unfinished. Sadly, we don't have any comparisons to weigh (yet). So, I cannot affirm any "best of" citations, it this is certainly a solid trattoria/pizzeria. The staff are attentive and the food served hot and fresh.
