We were pooped and hungry after our workout during our coliseum and Palantine Hills tour and hubby found this place on Google with 50k reviews. The line was constant! Finally short when we left around 3 pm. But worth the wait. Took us about 40mins to get seated inside with AC! Yay! Service was excellent! Our server Kevin was great! The pastas were amazing! Especially with the side of burrata. Loved my pesto with clams and burrata! So subtle and the texture of the pasta was almost udon like. Hubs had the spaghetti and meatballs and then Kevin told him to steal some of my burrata. We decided to try the chicory and it was delicious, kinda like the Chinese red spinach. The pizza was amazing. Thicker crust than the first one we had. Added panna cotta to our collection of desserts. So smooth and creamy. Yum! They had a meloncello here that was delicious and creamy. Apparently you sip this versus taking the limoncello as a shot. Interesting. The lemon sodas are so good too! Definitely check this place out when in Rome! Oh, it's an older place with just one bathroom, so at one point the line was almost as long as the line to get in lol.
We went there for lunch after hearing great recommendations. The place was quite busy, with a line forming as soon as we arrived. Not sure if it was intentional, but the cellular service was very slow, and even though WiFi was available, the internet connection wasn't great as it was only good enough to check the menu. We ordered a few dishes to share: the tuna pizza and seafood pasta were both excellent. However, the ham and melon appetizer was a bit disappointing, the melon lacked flavor (not sure if it was honeydew or cantaloupe). The tiramisu, on the other hand, was delicious, we loved it so much that we ordered a second one! We ended our meal with some meloncello, which was a nice touch. Also, our server Kevin was really friendly and attentive.
Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 It was raining and I didn't want to travel far for dinner anymore so decided to give this place a try even I was worried if it's gonna be bad because given how close this place is to all the attractions around here. When I got there around 7pm and light rain outside, line is already there. I had to wait about 35 minutes (if you want to sit outside, the wait time is faster). I ordered house white wine to start and for main dishes caprese salad, chef fantasy sea (seafood pasta with white sauce) and gnocchi with ragu and pesto. Portion for seafood pasta was ok but Gnocchi was in good portion with a lot of meat. If I have to pick one, I would still choose seafood pasta. Finished up with tiramisu. It was very delicious. Overall experience was great and highly recommended.
If you are in Rome you need to eat here! My family and i originally had planned to eat at another restaurant but because we were far from it we decided to give this place a try. When we arrived we waited only a few minutes before we got a table. We were lucky because by the time we left there was a really long line outside. We sat inside in a comfortable corner table which I loved because it felt more private. The restaurant is small so most of the tables are close to each other. Another thing to mention is that since the restaurant is really old they only have one bathroom and the line can get long. Besides that everything there was perfect. Now for the best part! The food! Everything was exquisite! My mouth is watering just thinking of it. I ordered their carbonara pasta which was the best I had in Rome. My son ordered a diavola pizza (pepperoni pizza) I had a slice of it and it was delicious. My husband's steak was also great. After lunch our waiter brought over a shot of meloncello which was the perfect way to end our lunch.
I would recommend getting here right when it opens or you'll have to wait at least half an hour. The staff is very nice and efficient. We ordered a limoncello spritz to drink, carbonara and cacio e pepe for entrees, and panna cotta for dessert. Limoncello Spritz- Cold and refreshing with a lovely lemon flavor. Perfect drink for a hot day! Carbonara- Their house made pasta is so good! The sauce is rich and flavorful and you get plenty of crispy pancetta pieces. Cacio E Pepe- Once more, the pasta is top notch. The sauce is creamy and cheesy with a generous amount of black pepper that gives the dish its distinct flavor. Panna Cotta- Milky and creamy. It's a simple dessert but does the job after a savory meal. Great experience overall!
Interestingly - Yelp hasn't quite found this place the way Google Reviews and Trip Advisor has. This place is very well known and referred - expect a 30+ minute wait. Our group of five all loved their various pasta dishes in fact, we were hunting for the Americanized white Alfredo pasta. The chefs here knocked it out of the park (note you can have it plain, with chicken, or with chicken and mushrooms). Final thing of note - they are actively pursuing reviews - so they can great care of their customers. Our night ended with a digestiv of house made meloncello!
Despite the high Google reviews and line that formed early for dinner, I would not recommend this restaurant. Came with a colleague, I got the carbonara and she got the diavola pizza. Both were quite poor. Service was fine, but this is definitely a tourist trap with a facade of good reviews on google.
On googles this place has 80k+ reviews 4 stars, but I guess it's the expectation wait and a hot day walking around still felt underwhelming unfortunately. It was good but I was expecting great. Pastas wasn't bad but the clam pasta still had sand it's not unacceptable but just expected more. If you live in L.A. and been to Uvovo than you'll be deeply disappointed. Uvovo is actually better.
We went late in the afternoon to have lunch. There was a small line in front of us but it moved quickly. It was such a nice day and luckily we got a table outside. We ordered the Diavola Pizza, Pasta with Burrata and Smoked Salmon, Pistachio Tiramisu, a beer and house wine. The smoked salmon pasta was so good! But the star of the show was the Pistachio Tiramisu and it was presented beautifully in little moka pots! They also give everyone a complimentary shot of meloncello cream afterwards. The servers are very attentive and friendly.
We came here to eat dinner and this place was busy and waited for 30-40minutes. Food- we ordered Insalata Caprese- salad, tomato, and mozzarella cheese. It was good with soft cheese and fresh tomatoes as appetizer. We also ordered pasta con Le Vongole e pesto- Pasta with clams and pesto. This dish had salty flavor with seafood sauce that was well seasoned. Another dish we got was Gnocchi con Ragu e pesto- Gnocchi with bolognese sauce and pesto. This dish was so good with gnocchi that was light, soft, and had smooth texture that melted in my mouth. Bolognese sauce was perfectly seasoned and it tasted great with gnocchi. Service was great and all the staff were friendly and explained few dishes for us when we asked them. The portions of the main dishes were a lot for me to eat. So they were generous with their food portions. Tables were small and not enough area to walk around. So must be careful not to hit other peoples tables when walking in or out. I think because they were busy and a lot of people were waiting outside for dinner and they had to make room for everyone who wanted to eat. Otherwise, everything that I ordered tasted good with great portions for their price. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Rome.
Service was EXCELLENT! Ambiance was warm and inviting. Meatballs in tomato sauce and margarita pizza were good. Steak was mediocre, bad cut of meat did the bet they could with it. Carbonara was like bad American Mac and cheese. House wine (red and white) and Chianti were adequate. Uber to the area by Trevi for better meals at better price. Skip the cantaloupe shot at the end...
Best dinner we had in Rome!! I got the Diavola pizza and it was amazing. One of those brick oven style flatbread pizzas but man, it was phenomenal. The cheese beneath the spicy salami on two of the pieces from the middle wasn't quite melted all the way but even so, the flavors and textures were perfect. The crust was cooked perfectly, not too thin and not too thick, generous tomato sauce and plenty of cheese to make each bite incredibly satisfying. Mom got the Pasta fresca al pesto and she loved it! I tried a few bites and the pesto flavor was insanely good! And after seeing photos online, we had to try the Nutella and Pistachio Tiramisu and oh my gosh I'm so glad we did because it was the most amazing dessert ever!! The soft cake at the bottom mixed with the nutella and pistachios was heaven. This place is worth the visit even if you only get that dessert. It was pretty busy when we arrived but thankfully there was a table for us so we didn't have to wait. It was fairly loud inside but considering the close quarters between tables and how it was mostly full, that makes sense. Our waiter was friendly and helped explain a few different pasta dishes to my mom. And they even surprised us each with a shot of Limoncello on the house! But as someone who doesn't drink, that was some powerful stuff. Overall, this place was amazing and I HIGHLY recommend it. Definitely a must stop for dinner if you're exploring Rome. The pizza, pasta, and dessert were all so amazing and delicious and I would eat here again in a nanosecond.
There was a little line went we arrived so we waited about 15 minutes to get seated. Service was very good. The pastas and lasagna were so good! I would definitely go back for those. However were didn't like the pizza. It had a lot of thick cheese which I don't enjoy. We like more of the Neapolitan pizzas so it was a miss for us on that, but I highly recommend the pastas and lasagna.
Don't be fooled by the lack of Yelp reviews. Take a look at Google and you'll see why La Nuova Piazzetta has over 50,000 reviews. After eating here, I completely understand the hype. We got there around 11:20 AM, about 10 minutes before they opened, and there were already a few groups waiting. At exactly 11:30, the doors opened and it was game on. The restaurant filled up quickly, but the staff had everything under control. Service was fantastic. There were plenty of servers working together, helping one another, taking drink orders, delivering food, and keeping things moving. Despite how busy it became, we never felt forgotten. The food came out hot, fresh, and surprisingly fast. Every single dish was excellent. I ordered the lasagna, and it was everything you want in a lasagna (18 €), rich, flavorful, perfectly layered, and absolutely delicious. My husband ordered The New Piazzetta (18€) with tomato, sausage, potatoes, and burrata, and it was incredible. It was so good he almost finished the entire pizza himself. We also ordered the Boscaiola (17€) with mozzarella, sausage, mushrooms, and added prosciutto, which was packed with flavor, and the Carbonara (18 €), which was creamy, perfectly cooked, and another standout. There was four of us and we had leftovers. This is one of those places that lives up to the hype. Great food, efficient service, and an operation that clearly knows what it's doing. We'll definitely be back. Oh and a complimentary limoncello shot at the end of your meal. read more
Meh... it's easier when you are out of town to use Google but my old faithful Yelpers didn't let me down. This places Google review are 4.8 and the food is NOT 4.8. Presentation gets a 5 but taste is closer to a 3.5. I've ordered the carbonara all over both France and Italy and this by far had this least seasoning. Portion size is massive though so it's why they get a 4. The menu states there is pepper but I saw none... unless they are allowing the guanciale to stand on its own. It wasn't bad, just needed some salt and pepper as the rest had without me adding any. The service was excellent. I wish I remembered our servers name. He was there when you needed him and not in your face. In the end we received the meloncello which was a nice change. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday evening which seems to be a little early for the crowd. Just before we were finished there was a wait we were happy we missed. read more
Came here in the afternoon and it was worth it. Got some pasta and pizza and they were delicious. The service is fast and helpful, and the restaurant is clean and quaint. If you are looking for a restaurant a couple of blocks away for the tourist area check this place out. Heads up you may have to wait, we had to wait around 20 minutes. They have inside and outside seating. The server was amazing! Started off with a carafe of white wine, because that's what you do in Roma! We got the Pesto and Clams, I love clams and Pesto, this was amazing! The flavor was on point! Also got the Amatriciana with burrata cheese also very good! And some Cheese Ravioli also very good! After the meal our server brought a round of Limoncello for us! Cheers! Service was awesome! The only down side, if you need to use the restroom you will have to stand in line for 10 minutes or so. They only have one restroom and you have to stand in line by the cash register, and when one comes out you walk through the kitchen area to get to it. Other than that a great place for lunch! This was one of our absolute favorite restaurants during our trip! Tucked away from the main road in a side alley, the line speaks for itself - there's nobody trying to usher you in from the streets - and that's when you know it's a gem. There was a line during lunch but it moved pretty quickly since there's a lot of seats and they are very efficient. The true winner was the Arrabbiata pasta. The noodles were so thick and chewy - perfectly al dente - and the sauce was packed with flavor with a surprisingly large kick to it. We also added burrata which was the best decision ever. They also gave us complimentary limoncello at the end. We wish we had time to come back since everything else looked so good. Don't miss this gem when visiting the Colosseum! It's about a 10 min walk from the entrance. read more

Came to Rome to visit and found La Nuova Piazzetta for dinner and had a great experience! Food and drinks were delicious and they had decent size portions. We ordered their carbonara pasta and their sausage and mushroom pizza. Both were packed with flavor and definitely filled you up. Staff were awesome too! Ask for Omi or Bimbo, they are amazing. Went above and beyond to make the experience great! Would highly recommend! read more

While in Rome, we had a lot of weird customer service interactions (unfriendliness, being rushed to order or finish meals - just not the typical Italian experience), but La Nuova Piazzetta made us believe that good customer service still exists in Rome. This spot is tucked away in an alley near the Colosseum. The street is adorable and the restaurant is fairly small with some indoor and outdoor seating. There was no wait for a party of two. Our server was absolutely fantastic, I wish I could remember his name. We got the order of seasonal fruit, melon, and two salads. The melon was so perfectly ripe and juicy. The salads were a generous portion size with yummy mozzarella and olives. We would've eaten more had it not been so hot outside but our order hit the exact right spot for us. Afterwards, we asked if they had any melon-cello (the melon version of limoncello) and multiple staff members scoured around looking for it. They only had a melon flavored vodka (like what you'd use in an apple-tini) but their galant efforts were so appreciated and put a smile on our faces. In a sea of mediocre dining and rude customer service, La Nuova Piazzetta is worth stopping for in Rome. read more
A Tourist's Gem! My partner and I had gotten off the plane and up until we got to this restaurant, we had experienced nothing but insanely rude italian service people that we were starting to believe Rome was not a place for us. But then we stumbled on this restaurant and were greeted with the warmest smiles! We were so surprised that even with a line up, a table for 2 was less than a 5 minute wait. We got the Carbonara and the Cacio e Pepe and hands down THE best pasta I have ever had in my entire life. This is the pasta of my dreams!!! The carbonara was my favourite, it was actually my partner's choice but I couldn't help but steal a couple bites from him. The Cacio e Pepe was also very good, in fact, I think I liked the texture of the pasta noodles from this more, but I was definitely in a carbonara mood that day so I wouldn't skip out on it. The service was amazing, I tried my best to speak the Italian I practiced and my servers were so happy to hear me try, I felt welcome and proud of myself for being there. Shoutout to Jasmine! This place felt heaven-sent especially as an asian tourist. I felt incredibly welcome and immersed in the italian experience here, not too touristy, not too pretentiously local. For some reason, there's a long line for this place. Please save your time and try a different place. It's quite overrated. My pasta was soupy, the meatball was soft and didn't feel cooked. Burrata was ok, I wouldn't order it again. The pizza was so bland, where are the flavors?? We also ordered a Caesar salad and even that was bad, didn't even taste like Caesar dressing. Overall very mundane tasting experience. read more

Such a disappointment coming to Rome and hoping for good quality food. This was some of the worst pasta and pizza we've had, the pasta sauce tasted like it came out of can and was inedible. The noodles were thick like Udon noodles and the sauces were poorly prepared. The pizza was dry and awful. The wine was bad as well. Don't believe the Google reviews because they're inflated by customers who were enticed to write good reviews after getting free limoncello. There is a line outside to get seated (20-25 min) and absolutely not worth the wait; this is a tourist trap through and through (close to the Colosseum). read more

Make sure you get there before the dinner rush! They still had a line at 9:30, and if that isn't a good sign I don't know what is! Super friendly staff and the best lasagna I've had in my life, period! I felt like I was eating a giant ravioli, with every bit a perfect balance of meat, cheese, and tender noodles. Close to the colosseum and surrounded by great competition, this one sure stands out! read more

Conveniently close to the Roman forum and in a very touristy area, this place popped up on google maps as one of the highest rated and most rated restaurants in the area (they ask you to review on Google after the meal). When we arrived there was a short line that moved at a medium pace. The parts of the line closer to the front had umbrellas for share. As we ate the line got longer and it got hotter outside, but the restaurant gave out free water to the people in line. I got the pizza with spicy salami and my gf got the gnocchi with Bolognese. The pizza was a large portion with big thin slices of salami, with a nice crust on the bottom. Overall, very good for the price. I also tried the gnocchi and it was really good. The portion of the gnocchi was also larger than other similarly priced restaurants we went to in Rome. We didn't get the tiramisu but we saw other people who did, it's served in a Moka pot! Hands down, the BEST meal I've had in Italy! Warning: there will be a line, but you better stay in it because anything off the menu is absolutely delicious. Our servers Luca and Alfonso were incredible. We ordered pasta with prawns and pachino tomatoes, a side of chicory, and my other friend ordered cheese ravioli. I cannot put in words how perfectly balanced and flavorful each dish was. For drinks, we had wine, pineapple juice, coke, sprite and water. Of course, I had to order my favorite dessert. The tiramisu was beautifully presented and was not overly sweet, just how I like it. My friend also ordered the cheesecake with berries which she enjoyed thoroughly. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, lovely hosts. If I had to think of a con, it would probably be that there's only one bathroom. Will this stop me from returning? Definitely not! read more

After reading good reviews on Google we thought we would try this restaurant out. We are a family of 4 and given the reviews I did expect better. I had some expectations of a warm welcome, which was not the case. We were shuffled in with minimum conversation. There were alot of staff standing around chatting, pretty much not doing alot. Our waiter seemed fairly impatient when we asked questions about the menu. Although I did notice 2 young ladies next to us recieved alot of attention whilst discussing the menu and asking questions. The food was ok but nothing to write home about. Hubby's lasagne wasnt very hot, either was my raviolli. My son, 12 yo, got the Spaghetti and meatballs cant go wrong huh! On delivery the plate of spaghetti with a ragu sace only had 3 meatballs! Disappointed, given the cost of the meal! Most expensiveve meal in Europe for a family of 4 to date! 4 meals 4 drinks £95 Euro, ripped off. read more

This place gets high ratings and reviews on Google so plan on waiting, but the line goes quick. That said, it's not a 5 star. At best, 4 because the pasta is fresh and particularly the lasagna was very good. The staff was super friendly and went around giving shots of lemoncello. Got the pistachio tiramisu, comes in a cute coffee pot like many places here. read more
