Yelp will not let us respond to some less then favorable reviews so we will address it here..... We have a 100% health code score and have since opening 5+ years ago. If theres ever an issue with healing, the tattoo, or anything inside the shop we will address its asap. We can only control what goes on in our shop during the actual tattoo process... after leaving wether 5 minutes, 24 hours later, or anytime during the healing process air particles from a sick person, clothing, car seats, the list goes on and on can come in contact with the tattoo witch is an open wound. These outside elements can lead to irritation and worst case scenario infection. We as a business use hospital grade cleaners and disinfectants to clean and sterilize all tattooing areas. There are a lot of factors that come into play when healing a tattoo and we can help the client get through those if they contact us. We give suggested healing guildlines and keep them posted on our website at all times in case they get misplaced. Those are guidelines to how most people heal. We are a family run business that tattoo numerous people a day and when any issue arises we get it handled promptly and professionally. Unfortunately yelp has become an outlet to try and hurt a good business who loves and gives back to the community, provides the most sterile tattoo environment possible, and provides the best tattoos in Augusta (as voted on in the metros spirits metro best contest). When, if anything, happens we could have been contacted via phone, email, or in person and could have corrected ANY issue that could arise from getting tattooed. Side note I have tried to contact the negative reviewer through yelp to no avail. After looking at there account they have 3 reviews in 3 YEARS one review every October for the last 3 years. Just things don't seem to add up. Please research these negative reviews as its normal for people from other businesses to create fake accounts, use there friends to give bad reviews, and try to tarnish the reputation of good businesses. read more

Just got my first tattoo on 5 May, a Friday, around dinner time. I've had what I wanted planned in my head for quite sometime. I was coming to the area for the weekend and had a good friend (whose opinion I also trust and do not question) who recommended Allegiance. And by recommended, said it was the only place she goes; nowhere else was even mentioned. So I walk in, with a friend, because I was crapping my pants. It was relatively busy (I assume; only been in a shop one other time in my life, and it was basically during a white out...something unfamiliar down south, lol) and people were waiting. I walk up and let the two unknowns sitting at the counter what I was there for and what I wanted. Very helpful in determining the sizing of writing I wanted and the image; again, tattoo virgin, I knew NOTHING. So I fill out paperwork, head back when the artist gives me the go ahead, and Phil, who ended up being my artist, got to work (well, slowly, seeing I was still having minor panic attacks). He was a very cool dude and I appreciated his absolute honesty. I don't like being babied, nor do I like to be belittled; Phil was total appropriate in his "handling" of me. I half expected someone to just tell me "to cut the shit and nut up," because frankly, that's what I would have done. HA! Anyway, from the time in the shop, to the time out, was probably about 45 minutes, and I was just a walk in (that or time literally froze for me). My OCD self asked who knows how many questions about the care after the fact (which I then continued to torture my tatted friends after I no longer had Phil at my disposal). It's now been about a week, and is healing nicely. I was paranoid that I'd either have a raging infection, or my skin was just straight up reject the tattoo all together (don't know if it's possible, but I was sure that I'd be the anomaly). I'm extremely happy with the appearance of it; even my mind couldn't have done this well of a job. I'll be headed back to the area in a bit over a month, and look forward to getting my second tattoo done! And probably driving Phil up a wall, because I'm sure I'll still be a raging lunatic. read more

I moved to GA pretty recently and was recommended this shop by some coworkers. I went to Allegiance as a walk-in to get a small tattoo with my cousin. I walked in and was promptly ignored for a good five minutes while standing at the front desk. When the woman at the front finally looked up from her phone all she said was "what do y'all want?". A young guy, Hunter, at the front took the picture we emailed to the back and for about an hour we had this weird back and forth between him and the artist. When he finally came back to the front, the stencil we were shown looked nothing like what we wanted. The guy huffed and puffed and acted all put out that we weren't automatically satisfied with the first thing that came out. After about an hour of this weird back and forth, the artist, Phillip, came out and told us to come back. On the way back he stopped to talk to another artist about the helix tattoo trending on Pinterest and how dumb he thought it was. We awkwardly stood in the hallway behind him for about five minutes before he moved on. While he was setting up for the tattoos he continued the conversation with the same artist and didn't even look us in the eye or talk to us at all. When he finally started on my cousin, I decided that I wanted a smaller, much simpler tattoo. When it was my turn, he made a show of crumpling up my stencil and drawing my single letter that was no bigger than a postage stamp. After he finished he told us the prices then left, leaving us to hand our money to the folks at the front desk. Neither me nor my cousin are very happy with our tattoos and we certainly won't be returning. The shop was not welcoming at all. Staff did not greet us, look us in the eye, or make us feel like we were worthwhile customers. Their website says they welcome walk-ins, but if they're that gruff with them maybe they should make their policy appointment-only. This is the first tattoo shop I've been to where I did not directly talk to the artist who was doing my tattoo, I felt that was very unprofessional and resulted in a tattoo I am not happy with. read more

TO SARA U'S COMMENT BELOW: If I could give negative stars I would. Philip did my tattoo and completely abused me. Not only was he disrespectful towards me, but more importantly he was incompetent in his technique. There is no reason he should be tattooing anyone. My tattoo bled(blown out), scarred and looked disgusting. Thankfully I found an incredible artist in downtown Augusta who covered it beautifully and was completely professional. The man who did my cover up agreed that this was a terrible "artist" who is a disgrace to the real professionals. I do not suggest Philip for any tattoo. Perhaps others there have talent, but he has no place in this industry. Leave it to the real artists with *two hands* who know what they're doing. ARE YOU FREAKIN CRAZY?? Phillip did my cover ups and has always done my sons tatts and their friends tatts and not once have i ever heard someone as ignorant as you say such stupid shit. Whether someone has one or two hands has nothing to do with their talent.,, Phillip is by far the best tattoo artist i have ever meant,. He was very respectful and clearly by far more worried about me and how i was feeling than he was about making a buck ,.. He is always concerned over his customers comfort then he is anything else. Shame on you for putting such crap on here.If you would of went to him he would of fixed any issue you had. You are one of those people who spews shit out your mouth before you give him a chance to fix what ever YOUR issue may be. Next time you wanna spew shit then get yourself a bib.. I've been to a couple of tattoo shops for tattoos and piercings and BY FAR Allegiance Ink is the absolute best one I've been to. The nicest and coolest people work here. They make you feel completely comfortable. I'll admit. I'm that annoying customer that will message you last minute to see if you can get me in the next day. I'm also that annoying customer that will reschedule on you a couple times because I have a weird schedule. I've done both to Allegiance Ink, and I've never had a problem with them. Philip works with me on everything. I've messaged him one day and said I want to come in that night and he fit me in. He isn't greedy or after your money. I had a tattoo I wanted done and, for a specific part of my tattoo, he let me know one of his guys specialized in more realistic features which is what I had wanted. He wanted to make sure I got what I wanted even if he wasn't the one tattooing me. Of course, I stuck with Philip because I'm honestly loyal to him now and would never go to another person for my work done. But the fact that he was more worried about giving me the best version of the tattoo I wanted shows the kind of person and kind of shop he runs. He treats everyone the same. He doesn't pick and choose who he wants to be nice to. I'm a preppy little white girl that probably looks like the basic white girl to everyone who will talk your head off and change her mind and want the font changed or the tattoo to be bigger or smaller and more that comes in with random tattoos I want done and he treats me just as if I was someone who walked in with tattoos and piercings from head to toe. This shop is the BEST, CLEANEST, and NICEST in the whole CSRA!!! Every artist has something they specialize in that they excel at! My current fave is Philip (the owner) new glitter style tattoos! I have one done on my ankle, ribbon for colon cancer. I love it and get compliments on it all the time. He even DONATED part of the cost to the foundation, how awesome is that?! ALL of the artist do amazing work. Philip is the only one who has ever tattooed me BUT Codey Eddy, Keith Reynolds, and every one else in that shop does amazing work! Just walk in and look at their portfolios (which they leave out on the tables for everyone to see)! Everyone wants to get art work by these folks SO there might be a waiting list depending, BUT it is totally worth the wait for the work they do and the cleanliness. This is also the only shop i will ever get piercings at! Their artist, Wren, is BY FAR the cleanest person i have ever seen. She has done 4 out of my 7 ive ever had done. About a month ago i went to get my Daith done and my brother Gf got her navel done. She Thoroughly cleaned BEFORE, BETWEEN, and AFTER both of us. They do so much for their shop, customers, employees and the community. Why would anyone even choose another shop in Augusta is beyond me. When I started going there in 2013 I had 3 tattoos .... after meeting Phillip and enjoying the environment of the shop it was the only place I went to . By the time I moved in 2015 I went from 3 tattoos to 10. I always enjoyed how comfortable they made you, treated you as if they had known you for years . Such a family oriented place. I have been gone for 2 years now and I have not found a place anywhere near comparable to allegiance . Those men work their butts off day in and day out to make sure we all have pieces of art that we love for the rest of our lives. They were always there to help . My favorite memory was PHILIP did a tattoo for my brother ... was a autistm awareness puzzle piece with my brothers name in it ... he not only worked on it all weekend to make it PERFECT(he showed me about 1,000 sketches of it lol ) he even took my brothers actual handwriting and put it in the tattoo. It's something I've cherished and always will. They put so much pride in what they do! I can't wait to be back down south so I can get another one ! Defiantly worth it!! CHECK THEM OUT !!! read more

I wanted to get a memorial tatt of sorts, to honor the 22 veterans who lose the fight to the demons every day. I looked around down on Broad St., and found one that got my interest, but not much else. Every time I see someone with a lot of ink, I ask who their artist is, and almost to a person, it's been someone at Allegiance. I stopped by, and met Kyle on a walk-in. Immediately, he was on board with my vision. In just a few minutes, we had a working sketch, and a few minutes later, he was setting up to ink me. My tatt turned out better than I hoped. Itt is everything I wanted it to be and more. It is solemn, purposeful and powerful. (Those are words I got from FB comments from a pic of it.) I could not be more pleased with it. Kyle is an incredible artist, and everyone in the shop was friendly, courteous, and seemed genuinely interested in the ink I was getting. Let me begin by saying I have never recommended a tattoo shop let alone any local business as much as I have for Allegiance ink. Every time I go in I grab several cards to pass out to anyone who asks me about the art on my arms. With that being said, what these people do is art. They have vision, talent, and determination that shines through in their work. Quite possibly the most impressive aspect of it all is if you have ever been in the shop, they are all discussing projects, bouncing ideas off one another, and racing to social media to show pride in a completed piece. Not only is it a true sign of an efficient work place but a sense of family is overwhelmingly apparent. I have had work done by Phillip and by Doug; both of which went above and beyond with the vision I had in mind and accommodating my schedule where most would not. I look forward to continuing my visits to this shop and urge anyone who is ready to make the commitment to expressing yourself through this outlet to do the same. read more

This isn't just a tattoo shop... It's a family! These guys, and Wren, do so much more than just tattoo and pierce...they celebrate their success by having customer appreciation days, by giving back to communities in CSRA, they donate to diferent causes such as CF, breast cancer and suicide/depression awareness... There isn't a day that goes by at the shop that there isn't some form of giving back. It's easy for someone to get upset or angry at a merchant and post a negative review.. That's what childish folks do. You have to have respect and admiration for the art and those who do it to know that no artist is perfect nor can each piece of art look exactly like the Pinterest pic you chosen. Just like you would research your physicians ..you have to research your artists and their strengths. Remember when making negative comments that being an adult means giving that person a chance to make good on your dislike before you chance taking income away from them and their families. read more

Best shop I've ever been to! I've been both tattooed and pierced here, many times, and every visit was handled by professional, knowledgeable, and honest artists. They'll look at your idea and suggest the best artist in the shop who tattoos that type of design the best. I've screwed up my piercings and have always been corrected by their piercer Wren without hesitation. My regular tattoo artist Philip even opened the shop one day when they're normally closed to replace my lost jewelry for me so that I didn't further compromise my piercing. I've been there having work finished up as they closed one night and was completely impressed at the smell of bleach as they cleaned (sorry, I happen to like the smell, lol). As a nurse, cleanliness is key, and I've always seen the shop and work areas in pristine shape, no matter what time of day or how busy they are. Hands down, best shop in town!!! read more

I don't usually write reviews on anything but read a lot of them on everything. I saw a negative review about allegiance ink and more specifically about Phillip. I would like to say to this person if you didn't like your tattoo or the artist....I get it! To write a review about a disability that someone has is pretty low!! If you get tattooed by 50 artist and went to another they will critique everything done on your body so far....welcome to the real world! I only have to say I stand by each and every artist at this shop and consider them to be untouchable by anyone else in the csra. I have numerous tattoos, and before I found Allegiance Ink, I got them from several tattoo shops. One day, I was introduced to the shop's owner, and he put a beautiful piece on my arm. Allegiance Ink is the only shop I will EVER go to again. To date, Philip has placed very detailed and intricate pieces of art on me, and not a single one was done from a stencil. The guys at Allegiance Ink are so talented that they don't need them. The store is always put together and runs like a machine. I have never had to wait for more than 5 minutes. If you want a piece of art on your body, call Allegiance Ink. If you're into getting something that Allegiance will have to fix for you later, there are other "shops" down the street. read more

There is no other shop I would go to for my tattoos. I have been getting my ink from the owner Philip for over 7 years now. The artists here always respect your wants while also suggesting ways to make your artwork unique. The artists each have their own style and no matter what you are looking for, there is sure to be one that can accommodate you. The shop holds high health standards ensuring their clients receive quality work. I always get asked about my tattoos and I'm quick to refer potential clients. I have taken many friends here and not one has left without being completely satisfied. The also have a great piercer on hand for those who prefer jewelry. This is the only tattoo shop I trust to get ink from in the United States. Phillip Jacobs and his crew do an excellent job and are very professional. Walk ins are always welcome as my wife and I have just walked in and we were fitted into their appointments. They are always customer oriented and will even give suggestions of what not colors but art or font due to skin tones and how a tattoo fades. Prices are the best too!! Wife has 9 and I have 5! all done by Allegiance Ink. We travel frequently too! Have an idea take it to them and they will draw it up and make it spectacular. I had my cartilage and third lobe piercings done here a little over a week ago, and I couldn't be happier. Both piercings are healing nicely and I haven't had any signs of infection. Wrenn Daly, their piercer, is professional, very skilled, and personable. My experience at Allegiance was great from beginning to end. The man at the counter who helped me with paperwork and answered my questions was a really nice guy, and the whole visit was over within 30 minutes. I was impressed with how clean the shop was, and Wrenn was very professional in her use of gloves, new needles, high quality earrings, and disinfectant. This is the cleanest and friendliest shop I've ever been in. I did a lot of shopping around before I got my first tattoo and no one else made me feel as comfortable as the amazing employees of Allegiance Ink. I ended up traveling from Indiana just for Philip to do my tattoo. He was very friendly and open to discussing exactly what I wanted and making it something I will love forever. I love getting my tattoos done here. To them it's not just a job, but art work they design to tell an individual's story. I have gotten my last 6 here and have sent others their way. My mom lost her sister recently and it changed her whole world, she went and seen these guys and they took time to listen to her, understand what her loss meant and felt what she went through and designed the perfect tattoo in memory of her sister that now she can look at everyday and smile with great memories. Allegiance is a great tattoo shop. I went there for my first tattoo which Philip did over 6 years ago, and I just got another tattoo from him 2 days ago. I've gotten 3 (so far) from him. Not only does he do a great job, but he also makes you feel extremely welcome. The conversation is genuine and he really cares about you as a customer. You can tell he really cares about the shop and his clientele. Probably one of the most friendly businesses I know of. It helps take the nervous edge away from the tattoo and helps you feel like you're at home yet they're still very professional. read more
