This is a second time me and my husband chose this restaurant as the venue for our wedding anniversary. We very enjoyed the appetizers here. The food was a 3.5 the atmosphere was a 2. The pizza crust was thin and the toppings fresh and flavourful! One of the best arugula and goat cheese salads I've had! YUM! The Gnocchi was like MUSH, it was barely even a solid... The place was dead on a Friday night, it was quiet and had very little ambiance. Our server was very nice and accommodating though. This place could benefit from a slightly more exciting menu and some aesthetic renovations. read more

This restaurant is situated near the main square of downtown Bolton and is by far the best place to dine in all of Bolton. If you need to impress a date, or a business associate, this is the place! And surprisingly, you can do so on a budget if needed. Soups are $6 and pizza's from their wood oven start at $10. But there are fancy, more expensive, options as well. I have been treated to this fine dining experience through business lunches and have favoured the seafood risotto with scallops and shrimp. I have also been fortunate enough to devour a few of their steak dishes, which had me thinking it was truly one of the best steaks I had ever eaten. Treat yourself to a wonderful lunch today! What a wonderful dining experience. A large group of us started out on the patio with drinks. The patio is lovely! We then migrated inside to a warm inviting restaurant with art on the wall that is hand painted by the owner/chef Tony Viola. If you are looking for authentic homemade Italian fare in a fine dining setting, this is the place for you!! The chains can't come close to competing with the authenticity of Allegro. Brandi our server was awesome. She was fun, attentive, and really good at her job. We all felt welcomed and valued. The food arrived piping hot and a lot of us tasted each other's food....all of it was delicious! Have an Allegro coffee to finish of the meal...you won't be disappointed. Wow is all I can say. 4 of us came for lunch and it was empty and had us worried but we ordered the ravioli, one had pizza and another had a different pasta. All of it was amazing and the owner was actually cooking and serving us. He was friendly and we all recommend this place! read more

By far the best of the fine dining restaurants in Bolton. Tony and his wife have run Allegro for a number of years in the Bolton valley, housed inside a building with his hand-painted art on the outer walls, and surrounded by the best patio in town. Inside it's authentic Italy from the rustic design to the real Italian ingredients right to the wood-burning stove in the dining room. The Gamberi Allegro appetizer is amazing; for dinner I go with the Fuoco D'artificio Linguine con Vongole or Fusilli con Pesto. Always end with one of Tony's hand-drawn espresso shots, it's the perfect end to an evening at Allegro. read more

Not the best restaurant in Bolton! Word of advice, make sure to ask how much the specials are before you order, we learned the hard way, we ordered the tomatoe and buffalo mozzarella salad, we thought how much can it be? The tomatoe bocconcini salad on the menu was $7.00, boy were we surprised when we got the bill and were charged $18.00 each. $18.00 for 3 slices of tomatoes and 3 pieces of cheese!!! The pasta dish we ordered wasn't anything special, there was so much liquid to it, again something I could make at home for 1/4 of the price. The only thing that was good was the Tiramisu (a little dry but good). All in all NOT worth the money. Definitely will not be going back. read more

Allegro has been around for years, but hasn't been updated since they've opened. The food is maybe a 4 out of 10 and the portions are not huge either. The service is actually the worst I've ever received, be prepared to WAIT for everything. The prices are extremely inflated especially on seafood. I went here with my boyfriend for a fancy date and ended up waiting for almost 3 hours. I'm sure that this was because they considered us low priority because we were teenagers but we waited 25 minutes to be offered drinks, another 20 minutes to place our order then a good 40 minutes until our meal came and 20 minutes for the bill. I thought it was ridiculous so I kept track of how exactly how long everything took. When my steak finally came though, it was closer medium rare when I ordered it medium well. I ate it anyways even though I thought it was gross because I knew if I sent it back it would be another 30 minutes. My boyfriends pasta was not very good either. Everything was a very small portion and very expensive for not the best quality of food. My boyfriend and I still tipped 15% to hopefully prove that teenagers will still tip and shouldn't be mistreated. Worst experience at a restaurant ever. This place is absolutely Devine! The food has simple quality ingredients prepared to perfection. Their dishes are well balanced, and completely tantalizing. They have affordable options for bottles of wine to pair with your delicious dish. The service here is personal, as the chef will visit the tables to talk with patrons. You will feel welcomed and well cared for. The atmosphere is bright and open, with a quaint outdoor patio for favaroable weather. There is parking as well. This is a go to spot for us from now on whenever we are in town. Actually, we wish we lived closer so we could visit more often! read more

I have been going to Allegro for over almost 20 years. The pizza is one of the best, and the calamari is my favourite. The only thing I do not agree with is how bottled water is brought to your table and then you are charged for it ($7 per bottle). I also did not appreciate the owner telling me that bottle water was safer to drink when I asked for tap water. It became confrontational and rather ridiculous that the owner was trying to force me to keep the bottle water as opposed to tap water. Overall, the food is great but the restaurant should ask their customers if they wish to purchase bottle water before imposing it upon them. Definitely one of the best dining places in Bolton. The outdoor patio is just beautiful in the summer evenings, however, our bill at the end of the evening definitely left a sour note in our mouths! My penne alla vodka were so overcooked, they would fall apart as I tried to pickup with my fork, could not taste any vodka at all & was somewhat dry. My husbands risotto was very good in comparison but we got charged $32.00 for ONE mozzarella!! It had very little dressing on it and we had to ask for a bread basket twice. Sorry to say, it is not worth the drive. read more

This place is easily my favorite!..if not the the best fine dinning experience you will find in Bolton...I have personally worked for the Tony for several years in the past as a sue chef, and will always remember what ive learned there. He is always been the most hands on, hardest working owner you will ever meet and is very dedicated to the freshness of his food and how he keeps a clean workplace and tight ship. You might even catch him cutting the lawn still. Simply put, awful experience! This is a restaurant that my guests and I will never return to. I couldn't possibly have anything nice to say about this restaurant. Three of my guests received their meals 40 minutes after everyone else had already been served and as a result they had to eat alone. Two of those meals were pizza, which should be quick. The owner Tony, was unwilling to be understanding in any way when we mentioned this to him, worst owner I have ever met. If you want customers to return to your restaurant and you make an honest mistake with the orders that causes some of them to be late then you should apologize to them. Instead, Tony began to yell at me stating that he was being mistreated simply because I had mentioned that three of our meals were 40 minutes late. On top of all of this, we were charged a $25 cake cutting fee for a cake that we brought, cut, and served ourselves!!! I am in disbelief that a restaurant owner would yell at customers the way that he did and cares so little about his business. When I told him he would not be in business for very long if he continues to treat customers this way, his response was "good, I rather lock the doors". Complete jerk and do not recommend Allegro restaurant in Bolton to ANYONE! read more

Our wedding rehearsal dinner was hosted here. The chef was unable to accommodate a vegetarian meal and offered "a plate of vegetables". The restaurant also went about charging us for the entire estimated number of guests even though it was discussed that the numbers given were not final. The meal was not acceptable for the cost (at $45 per person) plus water, drinks, dessert, coffee/tea. Will not return here, extremely disappointed. read more

Allegro was good from far but far from good....a group of us decided to try this restaurant, so here we go. We walk in to the patio section just standing there till we get some sort of greeting, we didn't .....so we sat ourselves, 15 minutes go by and still no acknowledgement, so we decide to help ourselves to the menu, 15 minutes finally a drink order ., we figured service was approaching a nightmare, so we ordered our appetizers, finally we get our drinks , 30 minutes later our appetizers, arrive. again no cutlery, napkins or plates.. So again I decided to help myself, at this point I felt like I was at a self service gas station. Appetizers were ok nothing I can't make at home, we didn't get to order our wine or main course. Our service was the worst I have ever had and oh my god this place is not cheap! 45.00 for seabass in bolton, with service like that!!!!,!,are they kidding!!!!! We left and went to St. Louis up the street to at least eat something. We will never go back, the place wasn't even busy, needs a lot of grooming, and it's so outdated!!!! Just terrible read more

another great place to avoid in Bolton. after the great experience at paganelli I wanted to try again this place after three years of absence. I arrived and we were greeted by a pleasant waitress, she continued over the time we were there to give us a good service. We ordered the lamb, the rice seafood, and a pizza. well it was not only disappointing but after we said to the waitress that the rice was overcooked, that the lamb was practically charcoaled, and the pizza dough was hard as a rock, we got the head chef to comment that this is the way they make this high end product in this restaurant. three years ago it was good, overpriced but good and in the back of the kitchen there was a very pleasant young man. this time there was an older gentleman no headpiece, beard, and extremely unpleasant. no apology no discussion and the waitress even apologized for the chef. when the bill came it was a shock since he had charged an amount for a bottle of wine that I would not even pay at the king eddy. after this experience I decided that Bolton must be out of reach for anyone who has to drive all the way from anywhere to eat bad food. hopefully someone will come to Bolton and teach these people what real Italian food is made from. read more
