As I was getting ready to leave, Charlie kindly opened the door and informed me that the store wasn't open on Mondays, but offered his assistance nonetheless. I explained that I needed clarification about my instrument rental agreement. Charlie was incredibly professional, courteous, and genuinely caring. He went above and beyond my expectations--not only did he thoroughly explain the details, but he also took the initiative to call the rental company directly to obtain the accurate information I needed. I even offered to come back on another day, but Charlie insisted on helping me right then and there. It's clear that Music Shack truly values their customers, and Charlie is a shining example of excellent service. They don't offer everything you would see at a Guitar Center or Sam Ash but what they do offer is an exceptional selection of guitars, Basses, ukuleles, mandolins, tube and solid-state amps, effects pedals, instrument accessories and more. They carry mostly Fender, Squire, Taylor, Martin, PRS, and Reverend guitars. They literally have one wall filled with Taylor and Martin guitars, another one filled with PRS, and a third all Fender, its pretty awesome. If you are a die hard for any of these brands, I highly recommend stopping in to check them out. I always wanted a Fender Telecaster but after seeing the Reverend Eastsider they had, I am willing to reconsider, that thing was sick! Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I struck up a conversation with Grayson, one of the store associates and he informed me they also give lessons on a variety of instruments. Pricing is $30 for a half hour and $60 for an hour lesson, which is pretty much the going rate. I could hear one of the piano teachers playing Bohemian Rhapsody in the background and she was great. The store is well kept, clean, and orderly. Although the store has been here for a while now, everything looks like it is in like new condition. All of the guitars are kept clean from dust and staff maintains everything very well., Good job! I really wanted to support the store even though I didn't need anything, so I bought a pack of strings and a PRS keychain pick holder, and now that I have been using it daily, I cannot live without it. I was also having some issues with the electronics, and he offered some good options for replacing them. I couldn't be more pleased with the result. When I picked up the guitar after all of that work (new frets, pickup, pre-amp, and set-up), RJ spent more than an hour with me making sure the set-up was just the way I wanted. He told me to play it hard for a couple of weeks and come back if there were any issues. Make sure you read the website and understand the process for working with them. This is not a big corporation with a back room full of amateur guitar techs. This is a small business with legit luthiers who do fantastic work.

They have a good variety of instruments and accessories of most well known brands. -Instruments available: Guitars, Basses, Clarinets, Obos flutes, recorders, electric keyboards, French horns, trumpets, bongos and more. Accessories: Plenty of replacement string varieties, picks, capos, instrument and sheet music stands, reeds, tuners, effects pedals, instrument and speaker cables and so much more. They also have a great selection of music books here for all the instruments I just mentioned. The book selection is heavy in progressive learning (which is a plus for the learning musician) some notable publishers are Alfred Schirmer, and Faber. I found a great selection of advanced books like Chopin's Ballads, Bachs Well Tempered Claviar, and Beethoven's Sonata's. In my opinion there are not enough Rock, Classic Rock, or Metal Books- I only found one Journey book for Piano/Guitar and the 50 best rock songs book which didn't have the 50 best as far as I'm concerned. Some Jazz and Blues and a lot of Modern Pop like Taylor Swift and such. The store was very clean and organized The only area that could use a little more organization is the book shelves. Regardless, I ended up finding one in the mix. I picked out an into to Debussys piano music ($12+) which also comes with a real CD inside. For whatever reason, you can't find these books online with the CD included anymore, just a link to a site with MP3 files. I prefer having the CD so, I really appreciate that this store carries these books, I will be back for more. Their staff perform instrument repair services, and provide music lessons as well. The store is currently offering a discount where if you buy four guitar lessons you get a free guitar with the course (learner acoustic); I'm not sure of the price, but if it's in $150-$200 range that's not bad. It's hard to find a half decent guitar for that nowadays. All-in-all, great music shop right here in Sanford, I love supporting local, so we will be back.

I called to make my appointment, which I originally thought I'd have to do on the weekend since all other string stores are closed by the time I'm off work, and Molly was happy to give me some time on a Thursday night. I think I was there till a little after 8 and at no point did I feel rushed. When I arrived she had a select few violins ready for me to try for my level. In our initial phone call I hadn't given too much information about my skill but her selections for me were 100% what I needed. From reviews at other shops I thought I was going to be pressured into buying something expensive that I didn't need. That was absolutely not the case here. The selections she showed me were all in my price range and she answered any questions I had to make sure I chose the perfect instrument. I'll definitely be coming back.

I bought a guitar from a Guitar Center in California that was pictured with a tremolo bar, but it didn't ship with one. The original store said they'd send it, but it never showed up. What truly impressed me was how this location handled it. Holden and Steve were absolutely outstanding. Even though the issue wasn't their fault in the slightest, they were incredibly kind, professional, and genuinely apologetic. They didn't brush me off or make excuses--instead, they went all out, searching high and low through the store to find a tremolo bar that would fit my Jazzmaster. When they ultimately couldn't find a compatible one, they made it right by giving me a $30 store credit to cover the cost. That kind of ownership, effort, and customer care is rare these days. Holden and Steve represent customer service at its absolute best. Because of them, this location has earned my loyalty, and I'll be coming back here for all my future music needs. Drums, microphones and even practice rooms as they offer classes. I love that you can try pretty much anything out before you buy it. The staff here is VERY busy and very helpful when you can catch them. Patience is key. This place is poppin' on the weekends so I would suggest a weekday visit to get more one on one attention if you need it. Just coming here to browse and be around musicians makes me happy. There is just something about walking into a place vs shopping online. Love it here!
