there is something severely unethical happening with this business. I rented violins from them and then attempted to return these violins for months! after visiting the store several times which it was always closed, my calls and emails went unanswered. Finally, I received a call apologizing from the owner saying they sadly had to shut down their business and I could arrange to return these violins at no cost to myself due to this large inconvenience. Then I receive another call a week later repeating the same conversation as if the person had not already spoken with me. We were to arrange the return of the violins but they give me a residential address instead of a business address. I advised that I did not feel safe going to someone's home and I'd like to meet at the place of business and they claim they will meet me at the place of business however they will then have to charge me my "past due" fees even though they were the ones who went missing for months and already agreed twice that I am not responsibly for their business randomly closing with no word!! read more

We LOVE this option for instruments and instrument rentals!! We went here knowing nothing and we got a LOT of education/information!! They even knew what music book our kid needed for his school band lessons and they had it in stock!! We have rented multiple instruments from this location, as our kid is now playing multiple instruments, and we have ALWAYS had an awesome experience!! There is such care and concern and attentiveness when renting!! The employees (owner??) are always welcoming and very friendly, and they take pride in the business. Whoever complained that the personal information wasn't removed in a prior review shouldn't really blame the business. When I return an instrument, I make sure to go through the case prior to returning it. Perhaps they should have caught it but, in my world, it is the person's (in this case the parent's) responsibility to go through the case and remove any personal items or information!! I visited your store Monday morning and what a pleasant experience. I was cheerfully greeted by a gentleman (Richard) serving a customer at the counter. Was told they would be right with me and another person immediately stepped forward to assist me. I was having my classical guitar restrung. I was told approximately one day to complete. Later that afternoon I received a very professional phone call that my instrument was ready. When I picked it up they had thoroughly cleaned it, conditioned the ebony fingerboard and tightened the tuning pegs. I recognize great service and professional comportment having worked with the public for many years. Thank you very much for the great service. Listen, I have been trying to get my French horn repaired for 5 years since the keys stuck permanently in college and I couldn't afford the $250+ chemical clean my professors quoted me. Finally I had squirreled enough money to get my Ijori (yes, I named my horn in high school) fixed and went to Plumb Perfect Repairs, after reading several great reviews there. Mr. Plumb was not able to fix my horn and directed me here. I was impressed by their transparent pricing at a lower rate than I expected, so I wasn't too upset.l by the detour. I checked the website and online and drove out to the Glendale location. I caught the man working there just as he was leaving, and he was a little annoyed at me because I hadn't called ahead. Apparently the Glendale location is by appointment only, but you wouldn't know that by the website. I was wearing a mask and such, but there were no indications anywhere that any sites were closed online. You have to call the number to find out. This was December 4th, around 4:30 pm, and the website said they closed at 5, so I thought I would be fine. Luckily I caught the guy and he said he could take care of it, and would have my horn ready by December 10th or 11th. This made me happy, because my birthday was December 10th and I thought it would be such a nice present to myself. He said to make sure I called ahead to make sure someone would be there, and that someone would be calling me. Not a problem. We ended up quarantined and in isolation the next week, so I didn't think too much of it when December 11th passed and I hadn't gotten a call. But by the end of the next week with no word, I was getting worried. I wanted my horn done before Christmas. I called and left a message on Saturday, 12/19. I called again on Monday 12/21 and spoke to someone who informed me that my horn should be ready and would be being shipped to the Bell Road location. I was a little surprised by that since I had expected to pick it up in Glendale, but no matter, the Bell Road location is not much further from me. He said it would be ready 12/22 and I would be getting a call. Tuesday passed with no word. I called Wednesday and left a message once again. It's now December 28, I don't have my French horn and I have no idea where it or when I will get it. I called several times on Christmas Eve (yelp, Google, and their website said they were open for limited hours), but no one is answering the phone. I get that the holidays are busy, but you have my instrument and you aren't being transparent with me about where it is and when I will get it back. Even a call on the 23rd saying it wouldn't be ready for Christmas would've been better than this. read more

I live in North Phoenix and have occasionally shopped here since it was A-Z Music. About a year ago I got back into guitar and have been taking lessons here. I've purchased a number of accessories, an amp, and had several of my guitars set-up at Allegro. They have a nice selection of guitars and other instruments. Their focus seems to be on student to intermediate players. The guitar selection consists of mostly student to mid-range guitars. They do take consignments, so once in awhile you'll walk in and find something special on the wall. The nice part is they professionally set up every guitar they sell, so when you buy a guitar the action is ready to go and playable. I've had a number of guitars set up here, everything from my lower end Danelectros to my higher end Les Paul, Strat, and Gretsch. The set-ups have been perfect. Their tech seems to care and take pride in his work. There's been a couple of guitar I had serviced there that had sticker residue or something on them. I received those guitars back perfectly clean and polished without having to ask. I'm taking lessons from Brian, he's primarily a classical guitar instructor, although my primary focus at the moment is electric. He's been great, he's a very good teacher, and my playing has improved dramatically over the past year. Lessons are very reasonably priced. The staff has always been friendly to me and I've gotten to know them a bit. The main guys are accomplished working musicians who know their stuff. I've asked for advice many times and never been steered wrong. read more

So not impressed. Years ago my son went here for guitar lessons. It was A-Z music then. It was terrible then and its inconsiderate now. I stopped in on Monday October 21st, 2015 at 4:30pm. I brought my sons guitar with me. He had broken off a tuning peg. The gentlemen at the counter first asked me if I wanted the tuning peg to match the rest? That seemed strange to me. Of course I do. He said well it's late in the day, so let me take your number and see if I can order a peg. Ok well it's 10 days later and I still have not heard anything. I guess I should have known he wasn't going to help me since he never wrote down the type of peg it was, the size of the serial #. Guess changing the name hasn't changed the place. So much for supporting a local business. I had the guitar fixed today at Precision Guitar. They were nice, efficient and more than happy to take my money. read more

Asked the tech to work on my guitar. Treated me like a young kid ( I have 4 kids) i was ready to spend money. After more of their shyty ego attitude I left. Never again. In conclusion, dont go there unless your a tech or know a lot about instruments already. Wish could give .25 stars. Ill settle for 1. Or if your a girl they will be nice. read more
