Our two sons have taken music lessons at Phoenix Music Lessons for two years. The amazing part of working with these guys has been how they have adapted to meet the new challenges of working in a COVID environment. One boys takes drum lessons, and the other takes Guitar. Both of my boys now conduct their weekly musics lessons online! I'm amazed at how the instructor can use Skype to give coaching with the same level of quality of being there in-person. It's 12/23/2014 - almost 5 months to the date since I posted my Yelp review of Phoenix Music Lessons -(and months passed since I had attempted to solicit feedback from the owner of Phoenix Music Lessons). TODAY - I am contacted with an explanation that "I honestly thought you were probably a good person but I felt a dislike towards me right away. That energy was truly difficult for me to deal with." His "concerned" response concluded with this: "PS. I once had a doctor do surgery on my knee. I really disliked him (really this guy was a jerk) but I knew he was an expert..... My knee works great again. :)" Since 12/23/2014 (again five months after my initial review) - the Owner has contacted me several times via personal email 3-4 and 1x telephone (actually left a message) - surreptitiously attempting to convince me to edit/delete or otherwise alter my review. I find the Owner's contact inappropriate and borderline harassing. I rejected his offers of a refund as that is not the intent of my review - rather to advise others of my experience. The Owner provided a service- and was compensated for his service. My opinion is this Owner does not take kindly to those with opposing/differing views. At 34 years of age I decided to learn how to play a music instrument. After searching the valley for a teacher I found Phoenix Music Lessons(PML). I started off by going to their offices and learning from Aric who is a great teacher and I progressed very well but after a few months I decided that being able to learn and practice at my house was what would work best. Aric said that was not a problem and that is when Erica started teaching me piano. She is a really great teacher and has helped me progress very well. She is a master of the piano and realyl knows how to teach you how to play. I highly recommend Phoenix Music Lessons and Aric and Erica as teachers. read more

The 2 Stars are because we absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED our Music Teacher (Jasandra). She is kind, a great teacher, patient, fun, great with Kids, and very knowledgeable about music! Amazing teacher!! We love her. Unfortunately we could not continue to attend due to repeated billing errors, predatory business practices by the owner, and lack of client focus and good ethics when handling the errors. Examples: Being charged for lessons canceled by the business, being charged for lessons canceled in writing by us, being constantly pressured to sign up for Auto Pay even though the business clearly cannot execute accurate billing, and being told we were a no show when we were not. Additionally we were scheduled for over 350 advance lessons which had to be canceled one by one on the website. We will be seeking other more client focused options with a better billing system and more client focused experience. read more

Phoenix Music Lessons and Aric deserve 5 Stars. My son Daniel (11) has been taking lessons from Aric for almost two years and is still going strong due to his amazing teacher. Aric is patient, dedicated to teaching and extremely professional in how he deals with the kids and the parents. My son is easily distracted and it amazes me how Aric can pull him back into learning and practicing his weekly assignments. We truly are thankful to Aric and Phoenix Music Lessons for the music it has brought into our home and lives. read more

My 9 year old daughter has been taking Violin lessons with Aric for several months. She struggles with confidence, but Aric has a way of explaining the same thing to her in several different ways without ever losing patience or sounding condescending. She now feels very comfortable with him and continues to enjoy her lessons and practicing every night. This music adventure could have gone poorly for her, but Aric's manner is just what she needed to get on the road to feeling confident and capable. It's beautiful to see her face light up with pride when she plays and I know it is because of Aric's teaching skills. I highly recommend him for children who need a little coaxing out of life's shell. read more

My 5 year old daughter has been taking piano lessons with Aric in Sep 2012. Before enrolling her in Phoenix Music Lessons I went to several places and observed the interaction of the teachers with such a young student. I chose PML for 3 main re sons: (1) Piano Method - I find Piano Adventures the best method for young children to teach music and beginning piano; (2) Teacher - Aric is a very patient and effective teacher. He has the ability to engage both kids and parents; and (3) Location - the studio is centrally located and close to school. My daughter enjoys the piano classes, but most importantly, is learning to love, feel, and understand music. This is most important to to us at this juncture in her development. All the teachers in the studio are very professional, enjoy teaching, and have a good rapport with all their students. We are very pleased with PML. read more

I received a GC for Christmas for a series of lessons and was instructed to look at the website, read the bio's and check the calendars of the instructors. At that point, I could pick who I wanted to take lessons from and call the studio. I called numerous times before finally speaking to a live person, the first few times I didn't even get a machine, only an automated voice saying "enter your access code". Finally I spoke to an employee who stated, "oh, I was on vacations last week!" Hmmm, not good business practices. I spoke to her regarding the instructor I wanted to meet and the day that would work best, having already looked at the website and calendars. I was told that the instructor was "fully booked up". I asked, "forever? Or for the next few weeks? I can wait a week or two for her schedule to open". She said, "no, she doesn't have any availability". I said I could do Monday evening or Tuesday evenings as I work full time. She offered Tuesday in the am, she offered Thursday evening, I explained again that I could only do Monday or Tuesday evenings. She then told me that she could put me on a wait list, because sometimes people cancel and a lot of people purchased four package GC for Christmas. I thought, ok, I can wait, gave her my name and number and asked her to call if they have any openings. I heard nothing and had the opportunity to start lessons elsewhere and started with a different instructor, not connected with Phoenix Music. Skip to the last few calls and the owner, Aric. We asked for a refund and needless to say, he was not pleasant. I get that you are unhappy to return any money but I am very disappointed that a gift I was so happy about and did some research into who I could have teach me turned out so sour. When my husband called the first time to request a refund he told Aric that no one had called as promised from the wait list. Aric stated that he didn't know why she told me they would call, they don't even have a wait list or cancellation list. On the final call, My husband stated that the employee lied about the wait list and that had pushed us further away, Aric then yelled, "my employee didn't lie!". In closing, Aric was a stand up guy and was able to refund our money and I am very grateful for that. I would say, buyer beware because some business practices are uncomfortable and I'm happy to be done with it and able to move on. read more

My daughter started taking voice lessons from Anna at the beginning of 2015. Her previous voice teacher had moved out of state and we were looking for a new teacher. We found Phoenix Music lessons since it is close to where we live. I read Anna's bio and thought my daughter would enjoy her teaching. Anna has been an amazing teacher. She is creative and encouraging. Her focus on proper technique has made an amazing difference in my daughter's improvement in her singing. She takes into consideration the kind of music my daughter likes but also encourages her to consider different styles. I think this is great because it will help her develop and grow in her learning. She also gave me, as a parent, the opportunity to dust off my own piano skills and be the accompanist for my daughter at her recital. I appreciate her willingness to work with me on that. read more
