The office is clean and the first time my husband and I came our experience was great. 2 years ago Groupon had a great deal for an eye exam and that's how we found out about them, the staff was friendly and we found a pair of frames (the price for them was steep, but we loved them) they arrived on time and everything went well. However my latest visit to them Dec. 30th 2015 I felt completely bamboozled, I went for another eye exam and was going through the whole process, when contacts were brought up, the doctor had asked if I had been interested and I said yes because of my 1 year old constantly messing with my face, but had thought my astigmatism prevented me from wearing them. The optometrist said "great, I'll have someone bring you contacts to try on and we'll see if they fit and how you feel. " so I tried them on, sat in front of the 1 or 2 machine for less than a minute and he said "yup, they fit great" and I was sent to the front for frames for my new lenses. It wasn't until the girl upfront was going over everything that I found out that for the 5 minutes I spent trying on these contacts and the 30 second follow up I had would cost me $106 dollars, which to me is insane! I had no idea that this wasn't a part of the overall eye exam and there was no lack of opportunity for them to mention that this would be an additional service. Had it been around $20 I could understand a slip like that since I obviously keep the pair contacts (which a 90 day supply would have cost $86 btw), but I did 99% of the work for this exam, so to find out that I'm being charged almost triple in add'l charges, I was really bothered by that. So I went from feeling really great and taken care of to hoodwinked and stupid in a matter of seconds. So overall they are not bad, but my advice based on my latest experience is to ask more questions and not make the same mistake/assumptions that I did. I ended up paying $149 for what should have been a $43 visit ($63 if you add the hypothetical $20 I would have been ok with paying) and threw $100+ out the window. read more

Used a Groupon for eye exam/glasses, but the groupon really only covers the exam (which was very well done) and a very limited selection for the frame allowance. Where it hits you is with the lenses. Even with the Groupon, and a low end frame, you will end up dropping another $200 for a pair of glasses that you can get elsewhere online for much less. The staff is friendly, but they are definitely there for sales, not as optical assistants. If you are OK with spending a few hundred on name brand frames/lenses, then this place is a good choice. I have been getting my eyes checked on a regular basis and am pleased with the service and quality of care. I highly recommend this group they have a wide variety of frames for glasses. The staff is excellent and the technology is state of the art. I have some issues with glaucoma and a family history of the disease. Dr Austin detected an increase of pressure in my right eye. He prescribed eye drops as a preventive measure and we are monitoring the eyes at each exam. The pressure has decreased and it feels like I'm in good hands. read more

Very friendly staff, latest equipment...but I got a Lvg Social Deal that I used for the eye exam, however like others here - did not get glasses from them. OK selection, but nothing I liked. Explained that the last place I got glasses, I felt pressured to buy frames that I did not like. Didn't want to do that again. Said I could come back in a month to check availability of different frames, but when you need glasses, that just doesn't work. I have been going here for many years. My mother started going here and she told me about Dr. Austin after I started college because working on the computers it was very hard on my eyes. I finally gave in to getting contacts this past while and although it was a difficult transition the staff was very patient with me and understand and was very helpful of finding the right solution for me at the time. I'm a little late on this review but I went to do an eye exam with Austin Optometry Group about 2 months ago. It was the 1st eye exam I had in years. I was little nervous but the staff was all very nice and the doctor as well is very nice and gentle, everything went great! I got my fist pair of glasses, and I felt very informed and taken care of. Christina helped me pick out my glasses and gave me very direct opinions on what suited my face and she found a great pair of glasses that I love! His workers were very friendly and answer any questions you might have. The frame selection is small but you will find known brands on the shelfs. If you love technology as I do this is the place. Staff is friendly and the process is not complicated or time consuming. Love the fact everything is technology based and advanced process. I used to work in the same building as the Austin Optometry Group years ago and had Dr. Austin (the father) as my doctor. Now I work elsewhere but still go to Dr. Austin the son.
