This is my second time getting my eye exams here. In my experience the staff is helpful and polite which is extremely important to me. They were able to get me in for an appointment within a couple days. When I arrived they were prompt to get me checked in. Office is clean, nice. Dr. Austin is very friendly and explains everything. He takes the time to listen to any concerns or questions you have. They have a good selection of frames but they can also order if you have specific frames in mind. When I first was looking for an optometrist, I admit, chose Austin Optometry because it was close. After the first visit, however, I knew I had hit the jackpot. I have been going to Dr. Austin for at least 10 years. At that time, both father and son worked at the office, and both had amazing care (now the father is retired). Each time I came in, both Dr. Austins remembered me and greeted me kindly (whether it was genuine or they read notes in the chart before I arrived, doesnt matter, they took the time to try). Dr. Austin is always friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and does not rush through the appointment. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable about my insurance coverage and their stock of frames. On occasion, when the staff was busy, Dr. Austin would help me with my frame choice (and he was always righ the first timet!). When they did not carry anything I liked, they offered me catalogs to look through, and they ordered frames special for me. I highly recommend Austin Optometry. read more

Nice optometrist/optic sales office in Orange County. I found this business on Yelp, and pulled the trigger on scheduling an appointment due to the impressive reviews. The front office staff was kind and quick to process insurance authorization and paperwork upon my arrival. I waited less than 10 minutes before I was called into to see the doctor. They used advanced equipment to measure my vision for contact lenses and eyeglasses, along with the old school stuff to make sure it was correct. I was in and out in less than 30 mins. Dr. Austin was really nice and detailed about explaining my current and future options in terms I understood. I think it's safe to say that I found my new optometrist. read more

I was running late (2 major accidents) for my 6:00 p.m. appointment and didn't make it there until 6:30 p.m.! Dr. Austin still saw me and took his time even though I was late. After my eye exam, I wanted to pick out glasses and it was already 6:55 p.m. and they close at 7:00 p.m.! His staff was super patient and did not rush me! I called an made and appointment for 5:30. They sent me a text during the day of the visit saying "See you at 5:20!" I did my best to get there at 5:20 instead of 5:30 as agreed upon over the phone, but unfortunately I was coming from work in Newport Beach and I didn't make it here until 5:30. Once I arrived I stood at the desk for at least 5 minutes waiting for someone to help me. I kept hearing the toilet flush in the bathroom so I assumed someone was in there having issues. After several minutes and enough flushes to force us back into a drought, Jenn came out looking surprised to see me. By now it was at least 5:35. Jenn says she doesn't think he will see me today, but he is with a patient so I will have to wait. So I wait around another 5 minutes or so until they tell me he won't see me. I have been here a few years but I am done. I don't have time to deal with Jenn's toilet issues or staff who can't make an appointment right. I like supporting small businesses if I can but I'm not going to have my time wasted with incompetence when Lenscrafters can manage to write down an appointment correctly. read more

I went here with a Groupon and was hopeful because of the reviews... I was not impressed in any way. Actually I was very disappointed from start to finish. The Dr. didn't listen when doing my exam. I told him that the letters were not crisp & the edges were fuzzy... he said don't pay attention to that. What!?! Then getting new glasses. The selection of frames is minimal, but to be expected at a Dr.'s office. They didn't measure where my eyes are in the frames... because that's what happens when the people working the front desk doing an optician's job. I ordered new frames & lenses. 2 weeks later I get a call that my new glasses were in but the prescription was wrong. I was due to travel out of country for 2 weeks, so they said they would expedite the process & mail the new glasses to my home before I left- I was impressed. The new glasses never came to my house & 16 business days later, I finally got the call that my new glasses were ready... no apologies for the errors or delay. I can tell my prescription is not what it should be, but I'm finding someone new. I will never go back. read more

We just moved to the area and had looked for a first rate optometry company. I have vision complications in one eye. I was pleased that Austin was equipped to more than adequately and competently test my eyes extensively. They carry Silhouette glasses which are among the best for safety, design and style. Because I had another appointment, I plan to go back for the glasses fitting. I haven't paid for the glasses yet, but was charged only very moderately for my eye refraction, and all that testing and time. The visit was very organized and efficient. They had the latest in testing equipment and everyone was very very courteous and nice. Time w the MD seemed a little short / rushed although he did give ample time for questions, concerns etc. Selection of glasses was somewhat limited and mostly only very high-end/expensive choices available. I would see this MD again, but will probably take my Rx somewhere else to be filled. read more

I've been using Austin Op for many years. I have always been fully satisfied with their service and quality of their work. They are well organized and my most recent visit was less than 45 minutes including Exam, and ordering new glasses. Dr Austin is always pleasant and patient. The Doctor and his staff patiently answered all of my questions and concerns. The only reason that I rated 4 instead of 5 stars is the cost. My glasses are very high quality, but they are a bit expensive even though I have insurance. I could get just the basics, but I get all of the extras and have never had a problem with the end result. read more

Extremely upset after picking up my glasses yesterday the frames I selected were swapped out for something different. The case that I believe now were not original to the glasses they gave me did not come with the designer cleaning cloth. Then I looked online today and saw that all Tory Birch glass cases also should come with the designer draw string pouch for the glasses. I did not get a cleaning cloth our the designer draw string pouch. Yesterday I spoke to Jen and she told most customers never question them on the designer cleaning cloth and said those get misplaced. I am sure they hold them back from customer who pay for these designer glasses and instead of giving them to the customer they probably sell them online to make an extra buck. You pay full price for frames and do not get what the manufacturer originally provides for the glasses. I feel ripped off and asked for refund which they refused. I don't want to deal with this office again because they are shady and dishonest. I know these frames are not the ones I picked because these sit heavy at the bridge of my nose. When I originally tried on the frames I had selected they did not sit heavy. They swapped out everything on me and gave me a lesser product. :( :( :( read more

Waited over an hour to see doctor with no luck. They refused to let me make an appointment. "We don't do that for glasses appointments" There has to be a better place to go get glasses. I will never go there, or recommend anyone to this place, went in to get ideas of prices and the staff treated me so bad and were so rude to me as well, I went in there friendly as always and polite and even then I was mistreated and treated as if I couldn't give them any business, sadly recently I heard other stories from co workers of mine of them being mistreated by a Cassandra there and a young lady with dark hair, same people that treated me as if I was in their way or taking time away from their texting , too sad.. read more

So I went yesterday for an appointment at 6 . The location is only convience if you are already there or work in the same plaza. I had purchased a living social deal since currently not having insurance . I look for the best option . So the voucher states that its $30 includes eye exam and $150 for frame and lense. I also need contacts so that was another $42 . The eye exam and the dr was great . He answered all my questions . Also gave me a couple selection of contact options for my prescription . He really was pushing the new contacts . Which was not in my budget . Also what they don't tell you is that the $150 used for frames and lense won't cover shit . I tried to bring in my own lense to use . They said if I did it that way I will have to pay the full about for lense. Overhead is high here for basic glasses is $150 for the thinner option it is $250 . Where there are other retailers way cheaper . I also realized when I went looking for contacts some places don't carry it . So making it a hassle to call the Dr. office back change the prescription . Overall great Dr but everything else is way to expensive and they are all about sales instead of taking care of the patient . read more

came here cause I found a groupon, they close weekend and normal operational hours are limited so it took me foyer to be able to finally used it. I work from 8 til 4 so it's hard to get in to get exam since the open later in the day and close early. Once I finally got in the place was okay but the selection of frames were really limited! didn't find a pair I liked so I had for order the same pair I was wearing. it took a little over two week to get my glass they called me and I told them I'll be in saturday and they didn't even bother to let me know they close saturday what a waste of my time. all and all of I would have went to old optometry place everything would have turn out better I would have had my glasses the same day. and it would have cost less even with the 150 credit and the eye exam. I don't really recommend this place this little Saigon optometry. better prices huge selection of frame and you get your glasses same day. read more

I have been going to Dr. Austin's office for 20 years as well, and have always had wonderful service. I used to see Dr. Howard Austin (the father), and he was wonderful. I thought no one could compare. But now that he retired his son Dr. Allen Austin is the primary doctor, I'm so impressed. He is just as kind and personable as his father. This is the best office ever! Just went last week and the time and detail spent with me was so appreciated. I won't go anywhere else!
