This family owned and operated shop is da bomb! When I foolishly backed my newly restored vintage…read moreride out of the garage after sitting for a few years (and neglected to check the brake-fluid level), one fender had an unfortunate meeting with a carport post. A few days later - after flushing the air out of the brake system - I took the car down to Pearson to get an estimate. Mike whipped up a quick estimate to give me an idea of how much it would cost to fix, as I was trying to decide if I should just pay for it myself or go to insurance. Well, as expected, it was a bit more than I could afford, but cheaper than other another place in town, so I called up my insurance, returned to Pearson to get a full estimate, and Mike emailed me the full estimate and his photographs. I forwarded these materials to my insurnace company and within a day got the go-ahead to have the car fixed. Slick! They got the car on a Monday, hammered the fender straight, then repainted and clear-coated by Friday so I could bring the car to its first car show (Rev It Up! in Lawrence) on Saturday. Brought it back in on Monday so they could do the final buffing. What's even nicer is that both Mike and his wife were willing to drop me off at home (or pick me up later) as needed. Whatta crew! Let me just say WOW. They matched 45-year-old paint PERFECTLY, and the fender looks nicer now than it did when I bought the car, like new. Oh, and Mike showed me his restoration project, a soon-to-be gorgeous Austin-Healey in the shop, which he works on during down-times. Highly recommeded if you do something dumb to your vintage ride and need a shop you can trust to undo the dumb.

Great shop that does quality work. I would recommend Pearson to anyone looking for a job done…read morecorrectly.

After insurance processed it, we received a check for $500 less than what the claim had been. I called the insurance company to ask why this was, and they said that Dacus had agreed to do the work for the lower price, so with my deductible and the check they had sent I would be good to go. I called Dacus to schedule to work, however they surprised me: They said they didn't care what they had agreed to with the insurance company, they would be charging me the full price on the original estimate, and probably more, and I would just have to eat what insurance didn't cover. Thankfully, I called my insurance and was able that check voided (it was addressed to the body shop), and found another body shop that agreed to do the work at the price that Dacus had agreed to do it for before they tried to make me pay the original estimate price out of pocket. The insurance company had the documentation that Dacus had agreed to do the work for that lower price, email trail and everything, so Dacus apparently thought they would just agree to the lower price and then get some extra money on top out of me. No thanks.

There were quite a few people there, probably many local people visit as it may be the only open gas station/mini mart nearby. and maybe since it was the Fourth of July (Tuesday), it was the only store in the area open? I would've given it five stars except for two things. There appeared to be three workers on site - three were behind the counters, probably visiting with each other or with the customers (?) but only ONE appeared to be checking people out. So, there was a long wait for the check out. Also, there was no whipped topping for the coffee, so I went up to the one who was behind the food area counter and asked her if they could refill it. She kind of looked at another worker, and they both agreed they didn't know how to do it. I even offered that I have seen it done many times so I might be able to help give some instructions and they just ignored that and continued with the visiting. (My daughter, who was with me said it didn't appear there was anything in the ovens that would've held the one to the cooking area and I don't know what the second one was assigned to do.)
