Dear Chelsea, challenge accepted. In a time when so many breweries are struggling, I think Alley Brews is doing what is needed to stick around for a while. Aside from continuing the legacy of making excellent beer, they also have extended the snacking options. Some people might not view this as important, but for those of us who frequent the Oriental Theater, not having to go elsewhere to get food, and potentially dealing with a time crunch, this is a lifesaver. The mini pizzas are fine. The pretzel bites are excellent. The prices are reasonable. They also add or remove items based on how well they're doing and this keeps the options fresh. I think they took a very bold move when they decided to start opening at 9 AM for coffee service. I know this is a hard thing for many small businesses to do because it requires significantly more staffing. Indeed, two incarnations ago, when this was Desteeg, they didn't open until 4 PM, which I always thought was rather odd, until I figured out it was so they could just have one shift. The coffee is excellent by the way. Everyone who works here is extremely pleasant, and uniformly amusing. During a time when we no longer have FlyteCo Brewing and we no longer have Call to Arms Brewing it is nice to see that we still have some excellent options.

Tidbit!!! I'm coming back here for all their spins on trivia, like Word Nerds and Music Bingo. They have such a cool line-up of events listed! Onto the review -- Navigate yourself down the alley between Grateful Gnome and the silver building on Tennyson Street. You'll find a decent sized patio as well as an inside space with more than a few counter tops and seats at the bar. There's food. There are beers. We enjoyed both our nitros. And there are other drink options as well, including coffee, wine and non-alcoholic. Definitely bring your groups here. We saw 2 birthday parties when we were there! Finally, service -- we were there on a Saturday afternoon, which meant that it was busier than usual. The beertenders were on top of drinks, as well as clearing table tops. I felt like the place was full, but everybody was able to go up and order and be seated within 5 minutes of arrival. Really excellent service!

2.5 stars. Don't get me wrong. The customer service is decent. I just REALLY don't like the beer. I try to recognize when beer is high quality, even if it's not my favorite, but something felt off about the taste both times I came here. That's right, I already decided to give Berkeley Alley TWO tries. I've tried all their IPAs and even their coffee pale ale. However, some perks that others might enjoy... they have board games, a beer club, and patio seating. Discounts I didn't know about because people were sitting at the bar in front of where they were posted. It's chill and not busy compared to neighboring breweries (maybe because it's hidden in an alley) but I wouldn't come back a third time.

Service is always great here and good vibes. I like how it's tucked away on such a busy street. We've been here two or three times now and it's always a relaxed, mellow place to grab a beer. I've never had a beer here that I absolutely love, but there's always a solid beer I try. Tonight I had the Brown Ale, and my husband had the Pucker Nuts - pistachio lemon sour. Both very solid beers! Good neighborhood spot.

Dry January seems like it was centuries ago. And for the love of God, I'm glad I decided not to choose March or April to go dry! All that to say, De Steeg was one of my first stops on Feb. 1st earlier this year. This hidden alley microbrewery has been cranking out experimental beers since 2013. I believe its owned and operated by a husband and wife, too. But seriously, the location is extremely hidden. When they mean off Tennyson in the alley, they ain't kidding! When we visited, we were greeted warmly and opted to sit outside with the pitch perfect weather. Oh man, how I long for brewery patios! They have board games on deck, as well as a complimentary popcorn machine. This place reminds me of Seedstock by me. Beers are tasty, too. The Farmhouse IPA was unlike any I've had. As they say, "See in the alley." Ya know, when we're allowed to again!

Berkeley Alley has the perfect atmosphere, relaxed, comfortable, and fun! Great selection of beer. I tried the Japanese Rice Lager, Marzen Lager, and then the New Zealand Pilsner. All great! Love this place! Great People, Great Beer.....what are you waiting for!!!

This little brewery in an alley may not seem like much but it has become a staple for my husband and me. We bring all of our beer-loving visitors here because it has some of the best brews in town. Located off Tennyson but in the alley behind, it may not have the most appealing atmosphere at first but the people are friendly and every beer we've tried has been top notch. Stouts in the winter, a killer pumpkin beer for the fall and some great ales for spring and summer.

We ordered the Rosemary fries which were very crispy and fresh do they did not last long. The bartender was very nice and was very attentive. I decided on the wings and my friend ordered a spicy burger. I got a full order of wings and they come out with lots of celery carrot which I love. I always get dry rub and sauce on the side so I can control the mess and the sauce. My friend's burger looked fantastic and it came with homemade chips which, were some of the best I've ever had! Their beer list is many and what I had I enjoyed. They also have a list of cocktails and wine. There's outdoor seating at ground level and a roof that has tables and a bar. I will return to try some of the other things that caught my eye.

Great location, relaxed vibes, especially on a Sunday evening. The beer was solid, but the food stole the show (mostly across the board). Most of our group was happy with their dishes. I had the steak sandwich with a side salad, and the sandwich was top tier. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich, and this one absolutely hit the spot. It was also pretty large, which made it more of a fork-and-knife situation than a handheld one, but no complaints there. A few people in our party upgraded their sides to the sweet potato fries, which were next level. Perfect balance of crispiness with a hint of sweetness that made them stand out. One miss in the group was the mac and cheese; my sister ordered it and wasn't a fan, felt it was too liquidy/runny and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Only minor knock overall was that the kitchen was pretty slow, especially considering it wasn't very busy late on a Sunday evening. Not a dealbreaker, but something worth noting if you're in a hurry. Overall, great first Denver meal; good beer, mostly good food, and a relaxed spot that made for a solid welcome to the city.

The vibe is cool with music playing, garage doors that open up to the outdoor patio & a friendly staff. We arrived mid afternoon on a sunny Sunday for pizza. And their pizzas do stand apart from others! We ordered the War Pig Pizza and a small Caesar Salad. The pizza was topped with a red sauce & a cheese blend, with cotija, pepperoni, prosciutto, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes & a chipotle-maple glaze - it was outstanding! The combination with these ingredients made for a delicious craveable pizza. I especially liked the glaze, more sweet than spicy. However, the salad was just okay, the dressing didn't have a lot of flavor & the lettuce could have been more fresh. Overall a great lunch & I look forward to trying some of their other pizzas as well as their beer.
