I want to like this place because they work with the resuce that i got my cats from but I just dont. They are too small of a shop, too understaffed, and way too busy to be affective in pet care. Let alone, they don't do anything in front of you as far as pet care. On my first and only visit they took my 5 month old kittens into the back to give them shots and trim their nails. 1. I didn't ask for their nails to be trimmed and they cut them so short they were bleeding (yeah I noticed) and 2. All I hear is my kittens screaming from the back room with no idea how they are handling them. If this was a human baby it would never happen like that. Also, I can't confirm if I got it from this place but they missed that my kittens had ringworm (a skin fungus). It can have a larger incubation period but within two or 3 days of being there they were massively infected.

Red proud of his clean teeth.

This review is about the neurology and oncology departments of the Animal Medical Center of…read moreSeattle. When my beloved cat Gigi suddenly lost mobility in her hind legs in early April, I was terrified. I reached out to multiple animal hospitals in the Seattle area to schedule an MRI. Dr. Chai-Fei Li, the neurologist and surgeon on Gigi's case, moved with remarkable speed and clarity. The moment I reached out to AMCS about Gigi's paralysis, Dr. Li's team scheduled an emergency MRI for the very next day. Dr. Li performed the MRI and immediately identified a tumor on Gigi's spinal cord and in her intestines that looked like lymphoma. Before proceeding to surgery, Dr. Li gave me a realistic and honest overview of the risks and possible outcomes--she didn't sugarcoat anything, but she also didn't rob us of hope. Two days after the MRI, she performed spinal surgery to decompress the spinal cord and stabilize Gigi's condition. That prompt intervention made all the difference. It gave Gigi her mobility back in her hind legs and gave me hope when I had none. What moved me most was Dr. Li's dedication after surgery. She came into the hospital every day to check in on Gigi--even on her days off. That level of care goes far beyond the job description. Following surgery, Dr. Brittany Evans took over Gigi's care as her treating oncologist. Dr. Evans designed a comprehensive treatment plan, combining chemotherapy, steroids, and supportive medications tailored to Gigi's specific needs. She walked me through different chemotherapy protocols in detail, explaining which one was best suited for Gigi's case and why. I deeply appreciated that Dr. Evans made sure I truly understood the treatment plan--not just the "what," but the "why" behind each decision. What struck me most was how seriously Dr. Evans and her team, especially Julie, took the whole picture: not just cancer, but Gigi's weight, appetite, hydration, and quality of life. Dr. Evans brought that same thoroughness to every conversation with me as a pet owner. Gigi responded beautifully to treatment. Dr. Evans and Julie remained accessible, patient with my questions, and genuinely invested in Gigi's recovery. While the diagnosis is very serious and the prognosis is poor, I'm taking it one day at a time, staying optimistic, and following the treatment plan. The care Gigi is receiving from the AMCS doctors gives me confidence that we're doing everything possible for her.

Was told there were other cases. 20 minutes after that another vet tech asked if I wanted to induce vomiting. That should have been done right away, and I still had no idea what the prognosis was or treatment plan and I wanted to speak with a vet. Then an "emergency" came in and I was told they were ahead of me now. After over 2 hours, still NO vet, no treatment. I left. Would NOT go here again. Apparantly my poisoned cat wasn't urgent enough to be seen, I am stunned at how this was handled. No amount of explanation can justify this. Period.

That changed when I came for the final visits with my Mako as she was reaching the end. The 2 primary concerns I came in with, her weight loss and her paws, were briefly spoken about at the very beginning of the appointment, but the vet never examined her paws (she had dog gloves on all four paws) or weighed the dog. I'm a physician, and I know if the doctor doesn't even do the basic for the primary concerns, they are basically checked out. I had to put her on the scale myself and the "doctor" said good idea after the fact. They wanted to do all kinds of bloodwork and scans on a 14 year old golden, to what end I asked? Are we going to do surgery or chemo on a dog this old?!? Unreal. Promised me prednisone to help perk her up for final days and then made me jump through hoops to even get it, wanted me to literally drag her back down there again (wasn't walking without help at this point to get the medication. Werecently got a new golden and I'm writing this review because I was reminded of a very bad memory as I'm looking for a new vet. It's almost like the place was bought out by private equity, you have been warned.

I've seen it all and this clinic has surprised me at every turn. I brought my elderly dog in as an emergency patient days after relocating to the area with no prior appointments. They were able to fit us in immediately with Dr. Almendinger - and what an incredible doctor she is! Dr. Almendinger showed great compassion for my dog during the visit and gave me consistent positive regard throughout, answering all my questions and listening carefully to my concerns. I left with necessary prescriptions in hand, detailed instructions and a thoughtful follow-up care plan including booking follow up appointments. The clinic was upfront about all tests, procedures and costs and open to my ideas on treatment plan. Costs were the same or lower than what I've experienced at other local Seattle clinics (we have also lived in green lake and Fremont). Dr. Almendinger also went through my pet's records and identified some recurring themes that no other vet has picked up on. On request, she gave me a list of tests to consider to rule out certain conditions and make an improved treatment plan that she thought would improve my dog's overall health and quality of life in her golden years. The front desk staff was proactive about getting us scheduled for follow ups and provided me a copy of Dr. Almendinger's notes via email on request. There was plenty of parking out front and the waiting room was comfortable with areas to take pets who are shy or skittish to wait. I saw a few folks with cats doing this. They had a coffee station too which is a nice touch, though I didn't use it in any of my visits. Overall, I can honestly say my experiences here (after a handful of visits) have all been exceptional. This is a magical place with wonderful people. I highly recommend bringing your pets here for care even if you have to drive further to get here, this is truly the best clinic in Seattle.

When I asked to reconsider, they dragged their feet for a day. I had to give the a call and they still claimed their 'policy'. The meds from there took more than a week to arrive meaning that poor dog was dealing with the parasite way longer than she should.

UPDATE- Your response is completely false. I did not treat any member of your staff in a rude,…read moreracist, abusive, political, or otherwise inappropriate manner. I never made any political statement, racial comment, insult, or personal attack. Nor would I ever. I did absolutely nothing that could justify the accusations you have now publicly made about me. Your response appears to be an attempt to discredit me and put me on the defensive, rather than address the misconduct, or the harm, which is consistent with your previous unethical mistreatment of us. I came to your clinic as a new client seeking only routine care for my dog: preventatives and a fecal exam. From the moment Dr. Mohamed entered the room, she was abrupt, hostile, and repeatedly stated that she "did not understand" why I was there, despite my calmly explaining multiple times exactly what I needed. Then, without warning, without first trying to make my dog comfortable, and without any introduction to my dog whatsoever, Dr. Mohamed forcefully inserted the otoscope into my dog's ear hard enough that my dog yelped loudly in pain. I had never heard my dog cry out like that before. We had been to other vets before who checked her ears using this tool, without any issue. I witnessed how unfriendly and roughly she treated my very sweet submissive dog. What shocked me most was that Dr. Mohamed did not react at all. She did not stop, apologize, acknowledge my dog's pain, or show any concern whatsoever. Again, as my previous review which you replied to stated- to this day my pup will no longer let a vet touch her ears. Dr. Mohamed's handling of my dog fell far below an acceptable standard of care, and directly caused lasting trauma. Your response to hearing this report is once again shockingly unconcerned, and dismissive. No vet should ever roughly handle and harm a dog because they are for whatever reason bothered by the human. That behavior is entirely unethical and unacceptable. Again, as stated previously to which you responded- we have no idea what prompted this behavior on her part and that is really the most baffling component here. Because we are friendly, reasonable and professional people. I work in customer service. I was excited to meet what I thought would be our new vet! I was polite and respectful from the jump. NOTHING in my behavior was even remotely close to what you describe, even AFTER she harmed my baby. I did not yell or get aggressive. I simply asked immediately to end the interaction and speak to the manager. My only possible guess was that my shirt had an American Flag on it, and this was some kind of politically motivated retaliation. I cannot confirm this, but have no other explanation for what was seemingly a very personal attack from a total stranger. Again, I immediately told Dr. Mohamed in a calm manner that I was ending the appointment and requested to speak with the clinic manager. At that point, Dr. Mohamed abruptly changed her tone, apologized, and asked if I wanted to continue with the appointment after all. I declined and again requested to speak with a manager. Dr. Mohamed then left the room. I remained there for more than twenty minutes waiting to speak with someone. No one came. No one checked on me. No one asked what had happened. After waiting, I finally went to the front desk myself, at which point I was told to leave without ever being given the opportunity to explain my side of the situation. I was left in tears. The only person who showed any kindness or professionalism was a member of your front desk staff, who came to me in the parking lot w/ tissues and apologized. Her practiced manner in this strongly suggested that this type of incident is not unusual there. You have now publicly accused me of being "abrasive, rude, racist, and abusive." Those statements are false. I unequivocally deny them. I will not allow false accusations to be used to deflect from what occurred. I will not accept being falsely maligned in order to protect your staff from criticism. I stand fully by my account of what occurred. I did absolutely ZERO to deserve the way Dr Mohamed treated me or my dog. In fact, there exists no possible justification for the rough way she was handled, nor the lasting pain Dr Mohamed's misconduct caused. Both of these are points which you have, yet again, completely neglected to address. I further object to your implication that, because I posted this review years later, my experience is somehow less valid. It took me years to feel removed enough to seek any justice here. As clinic manager it's your duty to ensure correct conduct by staff. You never even gave me an audience, and conducted no investigation. You neglected your duties, and as a result have not obtained the truth. I am formally demanding that you retract the false statements you made about my conduct within 14 days. If you do not, be aware that I am preserving your response and all related communications for further action.

Going to a clinic that focuses solely on cats means that there is a level of expertise and consideration that just doesn't exist at other clinics. There are no dogs around and they clearly take measures to make sure the cats see/smell each other as little as possible, which goes a long way to assuage our cat's anxiety. Everyone there is confident and gentle in handling our cat, and she's responded by exhibiting the best behavior we've ever seen from her in a vet's office.
