Allscape just installed a new system for me. I've been using them a few years for startup and shutdown of my old system. They did a fantastic job and took the time to review everything with me after the install. The crew was very polite and respectful! Our experience with this company's paver and landscape lighting services was unacceptable. The pavers were poorly cut and reset, and some were installed upside-down. The 'master' tech broke one, which unfortunately had to be replaced with a different color stone. The scope of the landscape lighting went from reviewing to fix or replace a few fixtures to replacing a long section of wire and old connections which ultimately caused multiple trips back to rewire, fix burnt out bulbs (they used the wrong wattage), and connections- all clear signs of unskilled techs who lack the level of quality and detail we were expecting. read more

Scheduled a back flow test, and system opening. Showed up 45 mins early for our 2 hour window so he was lucky I was home. When he came inside to turn on the water I asked if he would also do the back flow test for the city. He said yes. When they were done I asked how the test went and he said they don't do tests. After 12 years of using Allscape the owner - Nick's head got to big. They came to turn on our system in the spring and we had puddles of water in several spots form broken underground sprinkler pipes. Nick tried to charge us for the repairs, however Allscape is the one that "Winterized" our system. The sloppy technician poured the remaining residual from the bottom of the in-ground insect control canister on one of our boxwood's and killed it. We tried calling Nick several times to discuss, however he is to busy now to call his customers back - after several attempts my wife finally spoke to Nick and asked him why he was not calling her back? His response - "we are plenty busy - we don't need to call you back" In the early days Allscape was a great company to work with - now that they have grown they don't appreciate the customer and they have sloppy workers - I would avoid them. read more

SCAMMERS ALERT! I have used their services for the past two years. The first time last year's spring they came opened up the sprinkler system without any problems. This year they came, the worker asked for the valve that was untouched for the whole winter season and proceeded to install it. After maybe few minutes the worker knocked my door explaining that the valve wasn't working properly and it needed to be replaced. After that you can only imagine what happened. The owner was a horrible unprofessional jerk that should not be in the service business. However that is not the worst. We found out that same day when we asked professional plumber to open up the valve that they stuffed wood chips inside it(!!!) in order for us to purchase a new valve. I was speechless. I hired Allscape to turn on my sprinkler system in the early spring 2019 which they appeared to do a good job. I had just purchased this home and was not familiar with the sprinkler system. They sold me a plastic sleeve to protect the pump from siphoning debris in the lake where it feeds from which made sense. They installed this and repaired several sprinkler heads. The system worked for a few days but I had to shut if off because the Village treated our lake for algae and milfoil so we couldn't water the grass for approx. a month with the chemicals used. After 6 weeks I turned the system back on and ran a zone test. No water. I checked the pump and I would hear it running. I called Nick and he was immediately defensive and stated something must have broken. Keep in mind my system only ran for a few days after spending over $400 to get it running, and it sat idle for over 6 weeks. He told me an appointment was available in a week so I took it. I told him I work full time so did I need to be there. He said someone needs to be there to pay. He seems convinced I would owe him money. We agreed he would call in advance when crew was on their way that day, and I could give him a credit card IF repairs were needed. I agreed. Day of appointment I am on the phone at work and miss his technicians call. He leaves message stating my appointment must be a mistake because he clearly remembers turning my system on earlier in the year. I call him back less than 15 minutes later...get his voicemail..I leave a message stating this is a repair and system is not working and to call me. No-one ever calls back. I call Nick that night, and leave him message. He TEXTS me back stating I was not home and missed my appt. I remind him of our agreement. He insists I missed my time slot. He was very rude the way he communicated. Tells me I can have another appointment in a week. I ask why I have to wait a week when they did not follow through. They could have at least tested the system and called me if repairs were needed. Any why did they call me and after a return call less than 15 minute slater blow me off? He told me "customer wait for us we don't wait for customers" EXACT words. I just would have thought his customer service would have been better. Maybe apologized that the crew left and did not investigate or wait for me to call back at least ten minutes? Maybe offer a return trip within a couple days to at least investigate the pump issue (which I think it is the result of a faulty pump install). They could probably figure it out in 10 minutes and probably repair what I think is just a loose connection they made on the pump. NOPE- instead he acts rude toward me and tells me "customers wait for them". He obviously does not hold customers in high regards nor care about return business. He needs to learn how to treat people who are paying him a lot of money for his services. Understand how the customer might feel after paying over $400 to start up their sprinkler system only to have it not work when their lawn needs it most. Especially after I paid a bunch of money to fertilize and treat my lawn for weeds and now I cant water it. This company is terrible. First, they reviewed our landscape plans prior to installing our new system but did not take into account the fence that is clearly on the plans. So it all had to be fixed by another company. Second, they removed our RPZ without telling us. The RPZ then went missing even though we never knew it existed. Nick: "this is your fault. I'm out of here" as he turned to walk out of the house. If you like to hear "this isn't our fault" repeatedly if something is wrong then I would recommend this company. Just realize nothing is their fault and the customer must be wrong. Make all the excuses you want Nick but your work is sub-par and customer service skills are even worse. read more

I called Allscape to install a system to pump the water from my back yard to the street. The install was done on 9.20.18. It took about 4 hours. Nick went over my system after the install. He talked as though he was knowledgeable, he also stated that the system was warrantied for five years. This cost $2500, and he refused to start until he had half of the money in his hand. The first time that it rained; the system worked well, but the cover for the discharge side was washed away. No big deal. On 10.29.18 we had a major rain storm. My back yard was once again totally under water. I checked breakers, and power, and it was all good. I called Nick at Allscape, and left a message. I stated that there was power, and the system was not working. Keep in mind this was barely a month after the installation.. Nick calls back, the first thing that he says is check the breaker to make sure that there is power to the pump..duh! He also tells me to open up the system, and check the float, on the pump."If that is not the problem; then it is the pump, and it is a Home Depot pump, and we do not warranty the pump". If you want; I can get you a pump, and bring it to you, but you will have to pay for it". I couldn't believe it. So for $2500 I basically got a bunch of hoses buried in my yard, and a plastic pump housing, and a cheap pump with no warranty. The pump, the heart of the system, not under warranty. Absolutely ridiculous! With this company you get laziness, and deception. I read the other yelp reviews, before hiring these incompetent crooks. Unfortunately I was in a hurry to stop the backyard flooding, and I was too impatient to wait for other companies to call me back. It was a huge mistake. Whatever you do; do not make the same mistake that I did. Be patient find someone else to do the work, or do it yourself. Otherwise you will find yourself as angry, as me, and you will end up paying to repair a brand new system out of your own pocket. This company definitely should be reported to the Better Business bureau for deceptive practices. They boast a five year warranty for what? Hoses, and pipes? Not the pump!? Ridiculous! I set up an appointment 3 weeks in advance with the company for an estimate and was given a 2 hour window from 7-9 am. At ten minutes until 9 I decided to call and check on their status. I was told by Nick that they were still setting up another job and would not be able to make it out until 10:30 or 11. After asking if they could guarantee a 10:30 arrival, he said he could not but he would get there when he could. Not they type of service I expect from a company looking for work, especially after having this appointment booked for several weeks. I cannot speak to the quality of their work as I will not trust a company that cannot honor their service calls before a job even starts. Very poor communication with a potential customer. read more

He kept me informed as to what he was doing and why he was doing it. The repairs were performed at an exceptionally high level. Nick is a complete idiot and I hate unprofessional people. He is not getting away this time for sure, you messed with the wrong man here. I am about to sue his company and will drag his A ** in courts till he loses his license if he holds any or shut down his company. His guys did not winterize my sprinkler system properly, never shut off the water in the basement (I checked with my kids, his tech. did went downstairs to the basement but never turned off the water or drain the pipe) and my pipe valve has a crack now near the $400 backflow preventer. There was absolutely no cracks there before and the sprinkler system was working fine till they winterized it partially. $600 total replacement cost!!! When I called him to discuss the problem, he blamed on early freeze in 2017 (WTF) and then he hung up the phone on me. My lawyers are going to take him to the cleaners..People like him needs to be taught a lesson once. Stay far away from him and his company. 2 star rating speaks for what you are getting into. Kurt is a complete scam artist, DO NOT HIRE HIM. He is licensed, but refuses to sign his own reports, per law. It's against the law for a certified inspector to take your money, do a test that comes back negative and not sign for it- it defeats the whole point of hiring them. Anybody can do a test, that's why you have to pay inspectors to do this bc everyone else isn't allowed by law. You could get a test, but it would do you know good unless you were doing it for your personal self. We reported him to the Health department and we also have to sue him now. The sad part is, he was the most expensive, but came out the quickest, so I hired him. Don't hire him find another inspector, they're everywhere. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I called them to help me get my sprinkler system in our new house working and they came out in the fall of 2014. The Service Tech informed us that we needed to buy a new RPZ Valve and after that was installed, they could test the system. I paid them $500 to have RPZ Valve installed. When he tried to get my system up and running, he couldn't get the 1st zone to turn on. The field technician advised me that we wait until the Spring to have them come back for Spring Clean up and at that point they could work on getting the system turned on. I called them back in April and Nick, the owner, came back for the Spring Clean up call. He told me that my RPZ Value is ruined and since I didn't call them to blow out the system, I would need to buy a new $500 RPZ value. I tried to explain to him that it was his Field Technician that installed the RPZ valve in the Fall and it was his company that advised me to call them in the Spring. I told him I am not paying for a new valve and explained how ridiculous it is that I took your companies recommendation and now the brand new equipment they installed is ruined. Instead of taking any accountability, he told me that "sorry that is your problem. He turned around and got back in his truck and left. On Yelp Nick is quoted by stating "We are successful because of our long company history, our strong work philosophy, and free estimates. And most of all... what our client testimonials say about us. This is the only testimony I see on Yelp and they are the most unprofessional group of people I have ever encountered. I called Nick right after he left and he told me that he doesn't care about the situation and to feel free to complain. I don't usually write reviews on companies, but Allscape is of bad of a company that they need more bad reviews on their Yelp page so people avoid doing business with them! Couple things wrong with this company from the start. As many other reviews have stated, Nick, is beyond rude and difficult to work with. We wanted a drainage system installed and Allscape seemed like one of the only companies that did an electronic system where we could have a pump in the yard that would then pump the water out to the storm drain. Easy enough. They were fairly reasonable on the price so can't fault them there. The problem with this company is when what they installed doesn't work. Our pump appeared to stop working only 3 months after it was installed, resulting in a large collection of water in our backyard, similar to what our situation was pre-pump. And so naturally I called Nick to set up at time for him to come out and fix the pump or replace it as we supposedly had a year warranty on the work. When I called to explain that our pump didn't seem to be working he immediately tried to put the blame on other people: "oh your landscaper must've dug along the drainage line and broken it", "you must have put something down into the pump basin that clogged it", etc. When I explained that no one had dug anywhere near the drainage line, only standard mowing, he then reluctantly agreed to come out and take a look - but not for 2 weeks! When I told him that we had a large collection of water in our yard and what should I do for those 2 weeks, not wanting a large pool of water in our yard to avoid bacteria and mosquitoes, he said I could have my landscaper look at the pump - yeah, that's exactly what I want my landscaper looking at a backyard sump pump system and messing around with it when for all I know he could make the problem worse and then it would void the warranty. So I had to go spend an additional $200 to get a secondary pump and attach it to a long hose to pump out the water above ground. Not the type of reliability or service I'd expect when we spend a significant amount of money on a pump system. Not a huge deal but still speaks to the reliability of the systems they're installing for people and how long you have to wait for them to come out to fix a problem with their own system. Fast forward 2 weeks later when they finally come out, keeping in mind there wasn't any significant rain to result in a large collection of water or to even see if the pump is working again, and Nick's guys come out to test the system. Turns out the system works when they run a hose into the basin and fill it with water. The pump works! Great! No harm, no foul right? There must've been a rock or stick stuck in the pump and when it dried out that blockage must've gotten cleared, simple enough, no way for us to know that the system is working again because there wasn't any rain that led us to believe the status of the pump changed. Turns out though that Nick says it's now a $65 service charge because we "wasted his time". I was baffled at this charge that he decided to levy. When I called him I made sure to clarify that this work would be under the stated warranty when I made the appointment, always being wary that the warranty would be honored because I received nothing in writing even saying there was one to begin with. Because Nick wasn't out at the job I gave him a call, calmly explained to him that he said this work would be under warranty and then he snapped back that because there was nothing wrong with the pump we "wasted his time" and that's why he decided to charge us $65 and if we didn't pay he'd void the warranty. I don't know about you, but when someone randomly decides to charge you a fee that was never agreed upon before the work was done and then threatens you I don't really care to work with them ever again. Therefore, I told him he could void the warranty if he wanted, even though that's terrible business practice, I wouldn't want to give him another penny anyway nor have him back out at my house to do work in any capacity. The best part of this conversation was that as I was telling him that he just decided to hang up on me! Not a great way to do business, treating customers poorly and hanging up on them! Clearly he doesn't care about maintaining a good customer base, he just likes to do cheap work the first time around and then not honor his warranties and pull random fees out of the sky when you "waste his time". In no documentation or on the initial call with him did he say that if the pump does work when he comes out there'd be a service charge. If that was the case I would've waited for another big rain to see if the problem would resolve itself prior to scheduling an appointment and being subjected to his made up fees! Terrible company! Avoid at all costs! Better to call another sprinkler installation company, plumber or handyman! Allscape is terrible! read more

Started out not too bad - but with each visit, I was told I needed more and more pieces, piping, etc. Found he was not licensed in the Village to do the work. And I also was sure was not going to ask the village to rip up a newly poured sidewalk for him. I have been a customer of Allscape for over 10 years, as my sprinkler set up and close down company for each year, with no problems with the system. This year, I needed to have my yard mulched and cleaned up and thought - why haven't I used Allscape! That's their 'main' service! Their price was very competitive. When I requested the quote, I specifically asked to have the weeds removed & preen the beds and on 3/18, Nick Boyle, the owner, emailed me he would do it for an additional $100 plus the initial quote of $510. After 3 weeks, the weeds were back and looking like we had not just paid for this service. I emailed Nick and told him we still have a lot of weeds and he replied 'weeding is something that is a continuous job there is no permanent cure, we can schedule another appointment to pull weeds 60.00 plus 35.00 per man hour'. I then asked if there was a solution and was once again quoted pricing. As this was something that was included in his quote, I was shocked that he would request additional money for a service he was supposed to have already provided. Needless to say we had already decided to discontinue using their service with his abrupt & careless manner in servicing a long-time customer. This was in May. I had not been using the sprinklers during May and June as it wasn't necessary. In early July, I turned the system back on and I realized that one of my sprinklers was 'watering my patio'. I also noticed that the heads in the back were very low and not arcing correctly and therefore I had a small circle of green near the head and everything else was hay. As Allscape was the company that started up the system for the year, they are who I called for service, somehow thinking that they would back up what they did. They came out as scheduled and said both issues were just an adjustment on the heads. I was charged for a service call of $60 but not charged for labor as they were there all of 10 minutes. I went out of town, and upon our return we had a week or so of rain so there was no need for the sprinklers. With the increased heat of the last couple of weeks, I turned the sprinklers back on only to find that the sprinkler was still spinning in a complete circle and dousing everything on the patio. I emailed again on Thursday 7/28 to request a follow up visit as the problem was not resolved. I received a voicemail from Matt later that day to call to set up a service call. I wanted to get a video of what was happening, so I finally got that this morning and returned the call. It was Nick's voicemail. He called me right back. I told him that it was doing the same thing and he said that if it was an adjustment, there would be no charge, but if the equipment needed to be replaced, it would be a $60 service charge, the cost of the part and labor. I said, if I would not be charged for a service call if it is adjustment only, why would I be charged for one if it is the part? He said because we've already been out there once. I said No you have not been back. He said, It was already fixed. I said, No, it is not fixed. He said, WE ARE GOING TO TAKE YOU OFF OUR LIST AND WE WILL NO LONGER DO BUSINESS WITH YOU. And hung up. I am a business owner and immaturely hanging up on your clients is definitely not the way I do business if I want people to be satisfied with my business! I second the "This is not our fault" attitude of the owner. I called several months after the startup occurred because that is when I noticed the side of my house was absolutely drenched. At startup they are supposed to look for leaks in the underground plumbing and also redirect the sprinkler heads in the correct direction. So I did a test and saw on of my sprinkler heads hitting 100% of my neighbors lawn (vacant lot) and down the side of my house where the drenched grass is. So now I don't know if it is a bad pipe but nothing has been there to break a pipe, or just this sprinkler head that obviously was never adjusted as it was completely in the opposite direction of where it should be spraying. So I called and said can you stop by to adjust this head and take a look if we have a leak. His attitude right out of the box is that he'll charge full price for a service call. I responded with, don't you check the direction of the spray when you do an install as part of your service? His response was that it is written right on the bill no repairs after 72 hours. So in other words, apparently they want us to check their work? I had also paid for the RPZ certification through them 45 days before the due date, but had the city sending me late notices and threatening a fine so I had to chase after them twice before it got done and sent in. We first used Allscape when the company we'd used for over 20 years told us we needed a booster pump for our sprinkler system and would need to provide our own electricians to help with the work. Allscape not only installed the booster pump without any problem, but they improved the entire system so that our lawn finally looks great. Next, we asked for an estimate to re-landscape our front lawn (which we hadn't touched in decades). Nick, the owner, quoted a price that was competitive with another company that hade been recommended to us. Nick, however, obviously understood what we needed- he explained what plants grow in shade, in dry areas, etc. Within a week we had our new landscaping, and our house looks completely updated. Furthermore, Nick decided that we really could use a few more shrubs, so at no additional price to us, gave us an extra five plants. I couldn't recommend this company more highly. We have found their work to be top notch at competitive prices. We also appreciate the obvious knowledge Nick and his staff has with respect to their business. This is a great company! read more

They put my system in and since then it is close to impossible to get them back when something goes wrong (and something always goes wrong). I have been waiting over 2 weeks for someone to fix even though I stressed that with these super hot days all my grass was dying/dead. Then, after taking the day off work, no one showed up at the scheduled appointment time -- when I called to check on it they gave me a slot 4 days later. I have just had an experience on the road with a driver in a Allscape vehicle. The driver was tailgating me and I put my brakes on lightly to let him know I was braking to get his attention. The driver slammed on his brakes and at that time, gave me the finger. I pulled to the other lane to let him catch up to me as I assumed it was a company vehicle, which it was. I got the phone number on the truck ,when I called the number was disabled but I was able to get the other number from the internet. Whom ever answered the phone told me it was my fault for putting my brakes on. I could not believe what I was hearing! I stated what about giving me the finger the response I got seemed like it wasn't a big deal. I had a few choice words for both him and his driver, which was wrong but the response I got was not what a complaint about a driver should have been. Allscape......... I hope you hear me. Customer service can either make or brake you no matter how long or how good you think you are rated. You dropped the ball on this one. Allscape Landscaping was contracted to start up an irrigation system and repair two irrigation lines/stations that were leaking, which was paid in full upon completion for a total of nearly $600. The technician arrived around 12:10pm and began working on the system (my appointment was at 11:00am). The technician completed the job at 3:10pm was paid and left. Around 3:45pm, I turned on the system to one of the lines that was supposed to be repaired and it was leaking heavily. I contacted Allscape immediately and left a message to inform them that the line was still leaking heavily. Allscape was again contacted the next day and Nick answered and stated that the another service call fee would be charged along with labor and parts for the repair to be completed because this was a new leak not dependent on the work done. I tried to work with him offering to pay for parts alone. Nick was extremely argumentative and unprofessional in speaking with me - placing the blame on me. Allscape was not willing to come out without being paid more money for service and labor costs, which would have cost at least another $130! Nick insisted this was not a warranty issue on the work already completed. Allscape Landscaping was contracted and paid to fix a leak that was not properly fixed rendering the work I paid for useless. They obviously did not test the line after the repairs. I understand mistakes happen but they should have simply come out and finished fixing the line without additional service and labor charges. I could understand if more parts costs were needed but Nick was not willing to admit they did not properly repair the line - he insisted that it was working fine upon completion. That would be impossible as I tested it just half an hour after the repairs and the leak was huge! They also falsified the time it took to complete the work done as they were at the residence for three hours and not four as was documented on the invoice. Additionally, Allscape cost me $300 of electrical work for an electrician to troubleshoot their improper installation of the pump's electric box. I would stay away from this company. I wish I had read the other Yelp review and saved myself $$ for useless work. read more
