Replying that this was inappropriate, I was told that the program I was in was a "master program which we use to keep rates and premium down", which was even more absurd. When I asked to shop around, I was told there was "no other program". My rating here is One Star - I would rate One-Half Star if that were possible. (And BTW, I have already shopped around on my own and found appropriate coverage that costs much less.)

This review is for Geico's California Auto Insurance. I do have other non-auto coverages with Geico…read moreas a broker but serviced by other companies. If I do reviews for those, I'll review the actual insurance provider instead of Geico as a broker. Many years ago, I did have Geico auto insurance. Their pricing was great, never made any claim so I don't know about service quality. I did transitioned to another provider later and just recently thought of going back to using Geico. I didn't know they have actually pulled out of California. The online quote that I got was better than the ones I checked initially. So I decided to proceed. The message was that the request will be reviewed by an underwriter and may take 15 business days, which they did. But instead of sending me an email or phone, they sent a mail asking for more information. I could either respond through regular mail or email. I sent them the information over email. 10 days later I got another letter stating that my request has been approved and that I needed to call their customer service number to pay and activate the coverage. I called, well, it was automated message saying that they no longer provide quote for auto insurance over the phone. I need to do it online or the app. I tried online, downloaded the app and checked, nothing. No way for me to check my quote or pay for the auto insurance. There was a different phone number to call. So I did, but got the same message. Wasted a lot of time. So if you're in California, forget it, don't bother with Geico for auto insurance. There are others that can serve you better for about the same price-coverage.
