I have never worked with a company with worse customer service. Whenever I sent an email follow up those would be ignored and then they would claim the emails were lost or the server was down. After emailing the president, and receiving a general note back from him, I left a voicemail with the president requesting that my insurance claim be followed up on and received no response. One representative I talked to said things would go quicker if I followed up with the other companies. I fail to see what benefit this agency has, when no one I talked to will do their job. By far, this agency has the worst customer service I have ever come across.

I took out a Long Term Health Care policy with Farmers New World Life Insurance, St. Paul, MN, at…read more50 years old. I am now 75 which means I've paid in approximately $30,000 for a policy does not even have an email address by which to contact them. I took this policy out at 50 as I was planning to retire in France and it did offer their services world wide. However, in retrospect (after having moved to France), after dealing with their inept ability to communicate by any other means than by mail, I've had nothing but communication problems both with general communication and receiving my bills. When the bills have been sent to my US address, they must be scanned and sent to me by a 3rd party. Oft times, those bills were overlooked and/or sent so late there was little time to forward them. When I called them to change my address to my French address, the bills consistently arrived after the due date due to the mail. When I called and asked why they couldn't send the bill early enough to be received in France, they simply said that they don't handle foreign mail....that they employ a third party to do that. A third party? Vis a vis, they have no idea when and if the bill is actually sent. On two occasions, when I called them to resolve a late bill, I was told very rudely to "pay it immediately" or the plan would be cancelled and I would lose my entire investment. A bit difficult when you live in France and are dependent on mail to and from the US. And, further, you've received the bill after the due date. I have since written two lengthy letters explaining the problem with the reply being "we don't use email...there is no email address to give you." Imagine that. And these are the same people that I will be relying on in the event I do need long term health assistance. Very ominous situation for a woman of 75 years old. In short, Farmers New World Life Insurance Individual Long Term Health Care appears to be some kind of a "front company" that dodges their customers, particularly one living abroad who chose their company because it would be effective worldwide. Since I can get no help from them, and am consistently reminded that I will lose my entire investment over their absurd insistance in not having an email address (which would easily solve the problems), I am now having to make complaints to the parent company and the Better Business Bureau. How sad for someone at my age who is nearing the real possibility of needing their help. Don't take a plan out with this company unless you are ready for "headaches", rudeness, and a lot of worry about their performance should you need them.
