My auto was involved in an accident on April 7, 2023. The other party was at fault. After having the auto towed to a collision shop, I contacted Allstate to report the accident. The person answering the call could not speak English very well, and this made the call even more difficult. They asked me what was damaged, and after telling him what areas of the car were affected, he stated "your car is probably totaled." My response was that this is not up to you to decide until you have either seen the vehicle, or done an estimate. PLUS, it will be up to the other parties' insurance to pay for the accident. From that point on until the present time (5/26/2023), Allstate has harassed me with phone calls TELLING me that I had to release the car, and have it towed to a destination where they could total it out. I refused at first, then I just ignored their future attempts to total my car. They harassed the body shop to release the car, but were told by the owner that they would not release it unless the owner said so. I basically told them to shove it up their ass... Dairyland Insurance was the carrier for the at fault party involved; once I contacted them, their claims department settled the problem by agreeing to repair my car. They knew this would be cheaper than going to court over rental reimbursement, storage fees, and the actual value of the car. Allstate actually sent me a form letter telling me that they were glad that THEY could solve my problem, and thanked me for my patience and cooperation. I returned the letter with the response basically telling them that they had lost all of my future business with them, and they could shove it up their ass! I will never do business with Allstate again. The only thing in their 'good hands' was an overseas call center, with a bunch of idiots who tried to coerce me into something that I did not want. I have to say ((BUYER BEWARE)) ESPECIALLY if you are purchasing a business policy!!! We just found out; and it took us weeks of trying to reach anyone to find this out, but our business policy never covered ANYTHING for the past 20+ years! After we finally reached someone to look at it, who had to reach someone, who had to reach someone else. THEY WROTE THE POLICY WRONG AGAIN!!! We canceled and got a different companies help because we couldn't reach anyone about the new policy being wrong too. Wrong addresses listed again. Though we went over and over it, sure it would be right this time..... wrong again! THOUSANDS of dollars spent and never a days coverage. I'm shocked they didn't even have the DECENCY to write the new policy with the correct business address or give us a number to reach someone and WILL NOT call you back. Two bad experiences weeks apart with Allstate. One with home insurance: our neighbors tree was rotted and fell down into our yard and destroying the fence. Even though it was clearly the fault of our neighbors, Allstate said if we filed a claim against them and won, which we would, that it would count as a point against us and if we filed another claim within 5 years our insurance rate would go up 60%! Are you kidding me? That's the point of our home owners insurance and it isn't cheap! You're telling even if it's not our fault and we win in court it still counts against us? There's much cheaper options and I can say we'll definitely be switching insurance. Now on car insurance: I was in an accident on May 11, I was assigned Daniel Green as my agent handling my claim and I can say as of writing this review I STILL have not been contacted by him at all. I've called him and left voicemails at least 10 times, no callback. I only found out my car was totalled by calling the local office and having them look up my claim number, there I received the name and number for the total loss adjustor and was able to call him to get things moving along. I've been without a car, no rental, nothing done on Allstate's part from Daniel Green and it's bad faith at this point, if the adjustor wasn't helping get things taken care of and the in person agents hadn't been helpful at least getting me information on what was going on and who to reach out to I'd be taking Allstate to court. With Allstate, you are not in good hands. Go elsewhere for you home and auto insurance needs. read more

They jacked my rate up multiple times for no reason (no accidents, tickets, etc.) and not bother to tell you why. Please be aware of Allstate Insurance for auto and home. I switched over to Allstate about 3 years ago. I regret it and am in the process of switching over to another company. Here are the 2 reasons: 1. For my auto premiums, they have shot up over 25%. So for me and my daughter it is costing me over $3,000 a year. My daughter came out from work and found that her car was hit, while parked, by the snow plow company. She called Allstate to inform them that someone had hit her. The plowing company was apologetic and accepted responsibility and is paying out to repair her car; however, Allstate said that she filed a claim. She did not file a claim, she notified them to let them know what had taken place. Then I receive a letter in the mail saying that she filed a claim, when she did not. Allstate claim center was not willing to acknowledge that she did not file a claim. A representative calls me back, and I tell her that what is taking place is terrible and she hangs up on me. 2. My home owners premium has gone up over 50% and I have never made a claim on it. I would have expected a whole lot more. If anyone has a recommendation for an agent please let me know. read more

My son was hit 2 weeks ago by Allstate customer. All he has gotten is the run around. This is unreasonable. He can't even get the name of place to take the car for repairs. They say they have an estimate but he cannot access it. He has had to use my car to get to work because he cannot even get a rental. I am taking chemo and have to depend on him or other people for transportation. Poorest service I have ever heard of and I was hit by 2 different people over the years with no problem at all. Allstate is absolutely the worst insurance company ever. I would never recommend them. They literally worked as hard as they could to steal from my 95 year old mother after a wind storm tore off her roof. It took almost a year to settle the claim. After their initial offering for less then 50% of what it actually cost to have the work done. Dozens of phone calls, spread sheets and hours of screaming at them on the phone. Our experience with Allstate has been surprisingly positive. I say 'surprisingly' because we've all heard the auto insurance horror stories, but our claim was actually resolved smoothly and in a fair way. A few weeks ago, we were hit by a young driver who ran a red light at a major intersection, hit us, then his car spun out and hit another car, which then hit another. A 4-car crash. The police were called and we found out he was arrested for DUI. Luckily, we did not have any injuries other than scrapes and bruises. But our car was totaled. Our claims process didn't start very well. You would think it was obvious who was at fault, however, the driver who hit us hired a lawyer for his DUI charges, who also tried to deny liability and claim injuries on behalf of his client. We didn't have a lawyer and we didn't have comp & collision, which meant our own insurance company wasn't interested in helping us in any way. It quickly became obvious that we were going to be on our own and at the mercy of Allstate's adjustors, so we braced ourselves for the worst. However, after our statement exactly matched the statement of the third driver involved, Allstate immediately accepted full responsibility for the accident. From that point on, it all went very smoothly. They offered a settlement for injuries (which we didn't even expect) and their assessor who came to look at the car declared it totaled and offered us a settlement amount that was on par with Kelley Blue Book -- on the high end no less. In other words, a totally fair settlement. We expected to get low-balled and have to haggle, but it wasn't the case. As soon as we accepted their offer, payment was made through same-day bank transfer. They also reimbursed our towing & storage bill in full. Shout out to Katie Jennings in Livermore, CA who was our Claims Processor. Also, her assistant, Casey, and the assessor, Peter. We couldn't believe how smoothly it all went and how everyone worked with us and was so helpful, even though they were the ones having to pay. Based on our experience, I can't say one bad thing about the Allstate Claims process. The experience has even made us wonder if we should be switching our auto insurance to them since they were actually nicer and more helpful than our own insurance of six years. read more

My wife and I had the unfortunate incident of having a sewer line in our condo break in the wall behind our kitchen sink. Our kitchen was flooded with sewage all the way into our living room. Water is one of the most damaging things that can happen in your house and when it is sewage, it is so much worse. We tried our best to soak up the sewage, but we had a laminate floor and liquid came up between the seams on every step. We needed help! I called the Allstate claim line and one of the first questions asked was if we needed help and I said yes. They said that help was on the way and we'd have a call from an emergency water cleanup team within 2 hours. We were way in over our heads and this was such a relief to our ears. 2 hours later we got a call, but not the one we were expecting. Allstate called back and said that no one was coming. I asked why and they said until responsibility for the damage was established, they wouldn't be sending anyone. I needed to upload the HOA's covenants and insurance policy and they would be assessed on Monday. This was Saturday and my kitchen is covered in sewage. Every minute that went by was causing more damage as the sewage soaked into the subfloor, walls, and swelled the laminate & cabinets. I had no choice but to rip up the flooring and do my best to get the sewage sucked up. This was horrible and nasty work that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Monday comes and nothing. No call from Allstate, no e-mail, no update in the online claim center. Midday I call my local agent and ask for help. I'm asking what to do, what to document, when an adjuster will be out. They're more or less helpless as it is being handled by a claims team in Kansas City. Tuesday morning comes and I finally get a call from a water recovery company that says they'll be coming out near the end of the day. I and my wife continue to strip the soaked kitchen and take pictures along the way showing everything. By the time they arrive with a crew everything is out of the kitchen down to the subfloor. They look around, snap a few pictures, and test for how wet things are. Yup, they're wet and all they can offer at this point is to leave a dehumidifier with the warning that Allstate has authorized no payment to them, so the bill is mine. I call and leave messages for the claims team, but no response until Thursday morning. Claim denied. What? No adjuster has been there, I have provided no pictures to Allstate and nothing more beyond the initial claim. I protested, how could they come to this conclusion with no inspection. The person on the phone stated that they looked at the pictures from the water recovery company and determined it was not a covered claim. The rationale was that there was some mold behind the cabinets, so the water damage was an ongoing condition and the flooring was already damaged before the flood. I argued that there was no mold on the laminate, under-layment, floor, or subfloor and I had the pictures to prove it. She wouldn't accept the pictures and said that an adjuster would have to come out to inspect. Great! Send them out. Ok, they'll be there in a week. Can you imagine what it would be like to live with a kitchen soaked in sewage for nearly 2 weeks? I begged them to come out sooner, but she refused. I told them that I couldn't be without a kitchen for that long and had to continue to work on the kitchen as we had to have a place to live. They said there was nothing they would do and the schedule is the schedule. I agreed to the appointment, but told them that all there would be left to look at then would be pictures. She then summarily closed the claim. I escalated to her supervisor and he was no help. He said the claim was already closed and would not be reopened because I refused to allow an inspection. I told him that was a lie and I would meet the adjuster, but there would only be pictures to review by that time. He said that was the same as refusing. I asked if this had happened to his own home, would he leave sewage soaking for 2 weeks while waiting for an adjuster to show up? He said no, but that was what he was asking me to do. My local agent assessed my pictures and agreed that the mold and the water damage were two different incidents. He escalated and tried to have the claim reopened, but after a full month, the response was if the damage couldn't be inspected, the claim would remain closed. I'm not as upset about the claim denial as I am the lack of service that I thought I was paying for. I always justified paying the higher premiums for Allstate because if something big happened, they'd be there to help. The only thing the "good hands" at Allstate are for is collecting your premiums. Prior to this incident I had been an Allstate Homeowner customer for 25 years and had never had a single claim. This is how Allstate treats their long-term customers, look for other reviews with similar stories. I won't be a customer for much longer. read more

Rude on the phone and messy claims department I would give this company ZERO stars if possible! 1st: Car broke on the Interstate, they send a "link" that doesn't work. Someone on the phone hangs up in the middle of the call. Got towing company myself. 2nd: sent in claim, they misread the date as expired. Sent explanation with original receipt, and they day they didn't receive the letter. Sent everything again (address confirmed!) but they even didn't receive that second letter! This is one of the worst insurances I've ever had to displeasure of dealing twice as a non customer of dealing with their customer hitting my car. I have a rent pending auto claim with them now, due to their customer driving at a high rate of speed, and losing control, according to a eye witness! And speedily hit a tree on my company's property, drugged the tree, the tree hit my co-worker's car and she then hit the back of my parked car, and knocked my bumper clean off! She tried to flee the scene but thanks to her getting a flat tire, and the eyewitness she was stucked, and was nonchalant about the whole thing, the police took 2 hours to come and take the report. AllState is stalling the incident due to allegedly not being able to contact the customer responsible for hitting my car. So it's in limbo and pending, and I sent pictures and now I'm waiting for the delayed police report to be ready! I'm currently trying find a lawyer that will sue AllState and it's customer, so anybody know a attorney that will take on these kinda cases please email me I'd appreciate it. And I'm filing a small claims case against their customer to get her license suspended because she doesn't need to be driving on the street and not taking responsibility for the damage she caused to my car, and fleeing the scene of a accident. I'm encouraging my sister who has AllState insurance to change and I'm helping her look for a more responsible insurance company, because I am not in good hands with AllState! I'm going through their stall tactics, representatives giving different statuses on the claim, pay for your own rental car and they say they'll reimburse you ( And this on a claim that your customer caused the accident), It's so bad until their like dealing with someone that doesn't have insurance. Was an Allstate customer 11 years for Home, 4 cars, and an Umbrella Liability all of which cost me about $4500 per year. So all together I paid them about $50K during that time. My daughter had 1 claim for a fender bender which they paid $1,100, otherwise I was claim free. One night I was driving on interstate highway in a remote a remote area, pitch black sky, and my car engine light came on. I pulled over and read my owners manual while trucks flew by at 80 MPH scaring the heck out of me. I got out of the car and walked away from the interstate and called Allstate Roadside Assistance. They took forever to answer and then I was on hold 45 minutes while they tried to find a tow company to come rescue me and tow my car. The Allstate agent finally got back on phone and said "we can't find anyone that is willing to come tow your car, sorry". I was in shock...I told them I was only 20 miles from a nearby city and certainly they can find a tow company in the next town...the allstate agent replied "well we tried but you have your cell and our connection is good, I would recommend that you try searching on your phone for a company that will come out at night to help you out". There was a long pause and then she said "is there anything else I can help you with?" Allstate basically abandoned me in the middle of the night when I was paying them for "emergency roadside assistance". I then called 911 and the 911 operator gave me the number of the towing company they use and I called them and they came out to rescue me and tow my car. They were very nice and basically said they don't accept Allstate calls because the money Allstate pays is too low. Fast forward about 8 years later..I had some smoke damage from our fireplace when it developed a back-draft overnight and filled the entire house with smoke. I called a company that does smoke damage mitigation who quoted $9000 to clean the home to remove all smoke odors and suggested I file a claim with my insurance company. The company said, this type of claim is covered by most insurance companies. I filed a claim with Allstate who denied the claim and the adjuster said "smoke is not real damage since its not physical damage". I argued and she was persistent. Since it was not covered by insurance, my wife and I spent 5 days sanitizing our home, wiping down every surface in the home, hired a carpet company to steam clean carpets furniture and curtains, and then rented a special device to sanitize the air. We spent $5000 to do the work ourselves. A few days later (after we finished getting rid of the smoke ourselves , the same Allstate agent called to say "I'm sorry, your policy actually does cover smoke damage and we can cover that for you". Thanks alot Allstate...so much for Good Hands...I paid them $50,000 and the only times I needed their help they were worthless...so much for the "your in good hands with Allstate". Today I changed insurance companies and cancelled my Allstate home, 4 cars, and umbrella liability policy. The cost was a little bit higher..but what is the point in paying for insurance with Allstate when they won't take care of you when you have legitimate claims. I feel like I wasted $50,000 paying them premiums all these years. read more

I have read a lot of reviews and didn't want to just go based off that because they have always been nice and honest with me until I filed my claim on my roof. I'm worried to continue my insurance with Allstate because I don't want something else to happen and then not have my back. We had a hail storm come through and the my roofing guy was amazed at the damage that it caused. Allstate sent out an adjuster to review everything we have claimed. He took pictures of everything. Tina Harmon was my Allstate contact for my claim. She gave me a call a few days later and stated she did not see any damage and the interior damage has been an ongoing thing and not sudden. So In conclusion they're not helping. Proceeded to close my claim when I mentioned I'd like to review everything . I got the report the adjuster made and I was shocked! So I called Tina back and confronted her on some issues I saw in general. She admitted to hail damage on my vent. Which I have recorded. Then proceeds to say it hit the vent but not the rest of the roof and it was just blisters. Be careful with Allstate. Hopefully this can be resolved. Thanks. read more

Got into my first accident in 15 years. It took Allstate 13 days to ask if there were any injuries. To top it off, they also kept telling me the year were trying to get this resolved "as the other driver was in a hurry to get his car fixed." THE WORST! I've been a customer for many years. At time of renewal, I contacted Allstate Motor Club (AMC) questioning cost of my membership and wanting to add additional family member. All their customer service reps are in India/language barrier a huge issue. Poorly trained and incompetent. -questioned why my renewal cost was more $ than stated renewal price at website. Rep couldn't explain, but offered me a better price (why didn't you just charge me that advertised price to begin with?)? Requested to add my son/household member and received new price. Fine, so far. -new cards came in mail, no card for my son. Call to AMC. Reviewed changes and agreed upon price of renewal. Told card would be coming, confirmed price. Card never came. -On annual renewal date, AMC charged my credit card a much higher amt than I was told 2x by AMC cust. serv. reps. Called AMC on 2/21/22. Recorded message first states open 7 am central time but at 8:30 eastern they are closed. -Call later and now they are closed for the day (President's day, really, motor club closed???) C/B next day and s/w a rude rep. Explained that I had called previously x2 and that price I was being charged in $50 more that previously stated. Rep. was rude, incompetent and I asked him to cancel my policy. He said he would but was prorating. I argued that they were closed yesterday and that I attempted to cancel but couldn't and that the amt charged was different from agreed amt. Not matter. He wouldn't budge. I have now had to file a dispute w/ my credit card to dispute charges. INCOMPETENT, DISHONEST, BAIT AND SWITCH. STAY AWAY. read more

had Allstate in California it used to be good my agent was An Dang and Beyoncé and they where always extremely helpful and knowledgeable, The new agents now Marcos Cabezas was Very Rude an he didn't know shit no initiative to help at all! I told him I was taken of the Easy pay by mistake so I wanted to knw why that was and also why I had to pay the full price for new policy and not legible for monthly installments anymore. He pretty Much said cause I was taken off the easy pay for making an online payment now I had to pay the full balance for 6 months to renew Although I wasn't aware of that. to make a long story short he told me go ahead look for a different insurance it will be the same thing all insurances are doing this now an if you dont like it Cancel. so I did and I got another insurance the next day cheaper by 240$ and only 2 months pay up front and no hassle. Shortly after that, a deer ran out into the road, not our fault, under NY State law. Well, this wonderful company dropped us because they counted the deer accident as a loss, as well. NOT RIGHT!! Auto Clubs provide roadside assistance and many other auto travel related services. I was a member for years, till I recently CANCELLED. Their customer service is horrible! You get a foreign representative that you can hardly understand, unless you request an American agent! They owed me a refund of $80+ dollars..They said they issued a refund to a Mastercard that was on my account, and they did that arbitrarily without first contacting me. That card was closed over 1 1/2 years ago, and no longer exists, and that's where they say they issued refund. It is impossible to issue a refund to a closed account. They told me it is IMPOSSIBLE to reach someone directly in the billing department. The representative I spoke to on 8 different calls said they sent a escalated message to department & to call customer or email. They NEVER did, & I don't have my $80 refund!!! horrible company. They canceled my insurance out from under me without telling me. A auto payment that worked for two years on time every time did not go thru so an unknown reason. I asked them what happened and they came back with all different answers. The tech person said must have been a mistake when THEY had to manually change all the payment info on my account. No email nothing. I had no idea it was even canceled. milewise was really silly also. Ended up costing just as much as a regular plan. They totally gaslit me on everything I said and was trying to get resolved. complete bs. Go somewhere else when looking for insurance. since this also happened I have been dealing with massive identify thief problems. If you have Allstate insurance - Don't hit my car! A kid about 18 in a sports car shoots out of his parking space and hits my drivers side door as I am passing behind, already almost past him. Clearly not looking where he was going. Clearly not yielding when backing up as stated in state law. Clearly at fault. We exchange information. My heart sank when he showed his insurance card for Allstate. At that point I should have called the cops. My bad. The next day I call their claims person. I already knew they would low-ball any estimate. But the person - the most hostile female I have ever tried to deal with - claimed I was 50% at fault. This would go nowhere so I hung up and called my State Farm agent. I had collision on the car, so they could deal with Allstate and subrogate. I wrote up the details of the incident and took my car in to their claims center. I left with a check for what I considered a fair amount, less my deductible. About two months later I received a State Farm check for the deductible, meaning the Allstate driver was determined at fault and they ended up paying more than I would have initially settled for. And you can bet that kid and his parents' insurance got swiftly cancelled. But for all the customers and victims posting here who have been screwed over by them, I can assure you that they treat their employees just as badly. Maybe worse. I worked at their home office in Northbrook, the one whose address is listed above, for a few years. I was a naive accountant, just out of college. It was the worst. They pay as little as they can get away with. There is no training. No advancement. When jobs opened up at higher levels, they always bring in people from the outside. Just a miserable, stagnant place to work. But even that, at the home office, was better than working in their regional offices, like the one was in Skokie IL that was well known as a sweatshop. Long hours, grueling conditions, low pay. I guess I can understand (somewhat) the miserable attitude of that claims woman I talked to. They are evaluated based on how little they can get away with on paying claims. And certainly not to promote the image and service of the company. Finally, when I did work at the Allstate office, the co-workers I got to know well acknowledged that they, like myself, had State Farm for insurance. That is the ultimate testimonial direct from insurance industry insiders. I have had State Farm for many decades now and the few incidents I have had have been handled quickly, fairly and painlessly. I have had the same agents for many, many years. They leave when they retire. Stability counts. And despite all the television ads, insurance rates are all roughly the same. One may be slightly higher than another depending on risk profile, but as always quality and service are what matter.
