    Whoop whoop....Scotland USA

Wow!!! What a fun place to hang out. The little town of Alma, also known as Scottland, USA. Appartently, they have a large celebration around Memorial Day celebrating the Scottish heritage. We stopped in Alma Brewing on our brewery tour of the area. This was my first time in Alma. We found a few seats at the bar and enjoyed a sample flight of beers. The beertender was fantastic! He was so knowledgeable and you could tell that he genuinely enjoyed his job. We ended up splitting a Scottish Egg and the Prime Rib French Dip. Everything was delicious and paired well with our beers. If you happen to be in the area, Alma Brewery is the place to be.

I love this place. The beer is great. The food is great. The popcorn is amazing. They have happy hour. A very relaxed but cool atmosphere. The wait staff is phenomenal. They have a trivia night. Tvs for watching the game. Great location. Mug club. If youre anywhere near this place stop in. You wont regret it.

This place is great. Unique, local fresh comfortable and yet high end. Love that they have vegetarian options. I had lunch special a vegetarian humus veggie pita with a side salad for $6.99. Also had the homemade beer cheese appetizer with fresh baked pretzels. It was amazing. Bread was fresh soft out of the oven and the cheese had a nice little kick. The side salad that came with the lunch special was surprisingly large. The humus panini was also delicious with lots of grilled veggies.

I love that Its set in an older main street building, the beer and service were good. We got the philly, brewben and pastrami pannini, all of which were better than expected, the Philly was especially excellent. The. Kettle chips were also pretty great!

The service and beer was good! I enjoyed the atmosphere. My food was pretty good also, I had the cheeseburger panini. My only complaint is that it was completely covered in oil/grease. Even the bottom of the bread got soggy. I wish I could give half stars because other than that everything was okay, just left a little something to be desired.

I had their Parmesan Herb Cod. The Parmesan Herb topping was sour and completely overcame the Cod. Very taste and poor meal.

The dill pickle ranch was packed with dill and had good flavor. The meals were the Pesto Chicken Salad, and not pictured the Reuben Turkey. The salad was a smaller portion than I expected, but priced appropriately at just $12 is a great deal. The Basil Pesto dressing is divine, so flavorful and the goat cheese was perfect. This salad will absolutely bring me back. The selection of craft beer, cider, mead, and wines was outstanding - we each opted for a flight and got to try 8 amazing selections. Also priced at just $12 for a flight - it was a great deal. The cherry wheat was the best cherry wheat I've ever tried, this brewery absolutely needs to begin distributing. I'd love to offer this selection at our bar. My one complaint (because I'm super picky and quite snobby about sauces) - the ranch needs to be homemade. With so many delicious dressing and sauce recipes on the menu it's a really big disappointment to have ranch that's not homemade. For me being a sauce snob - that's a deal breaker for me at any restaurant. Overall - our experience, service and vibe here was outstanding and we felt comfortable and right at home. Our server was fantastic, the ambiance inside is very chill and relaxing, and the food was great. I'll still give ya 5 stars because it was really great overall!

We ordered the Ancho Nachos with a side of beer cheese. The beer cheese was fantastic and honestly what made the nachos enjoyable. The melted cheese on the nachos themselves was pretty sparse, so having the beer cheese on the side was key. One thing I really liked was the banana peppers. They were a nice acidic surprise that added a pop of flavor in place of your traditional jalapeños. I think the dish would benefit from more tomatoes or a fresh salsa to brighten everything up. The biggest thing holding the nachos back was the chips. They were thick, grainy, old-style nacho chips that tasted a bit like cardboard. A better chip would elevate the entire dish! At $16 for a fairly modest bowl of nachos, I expected a more polished and elevated offering. The flavors are there, and the beer cheese is excellent, but the overall execution doesn't quite match the price point. Overall, I'd happily return for the cider, friendly service, and enjoyable atmosphere. A few small tweaks to the nachos could make them every bit as good as the rest of the experience.

I was with some friends and old coworkers when dining here, so I wasn't dining alone today. I was surprised there wasn't more people here since it was happy hour, but such is life. I ended up getting a hamburger with truffle fries as an upgrade since it sounded tasty. The burger was fantastic, though I wish it was a bit bigger. Truffle fries were good and it came with a really tasty dipping sauce. Our server was good but she did disappear for a while and when she did come back, we all asked for additional beverages. The place is clean with plenty of seating inside and I'm sure outdoor seating when the weather gets nicer. I'm not a huge drinker so I know they have a good beer selection, but didn't order since I wasn't really feeling it. Overall a great experience with a great menu, would return in the future.

Nate and I stopped in for a quick drink and a snack while in town and were seated right away in the bar area. I think they are pretty well known for their pizza, but we just went with an order of the buffalo chicken dip, which was bubbling hot and a large portion (we had plenty of leftovers). It was quite salty, but I guess that's to be expected. The chips were fresh and crispy and I liked that they give you some crostini as well. The drink prices were wild -- I got a large (maybe 20 oz) seltzer for $3!! I couldn't believe it. Service was friendly, basketball games were on the TVs, and I liked our visit. I think we'll be back next time we're in town.

And about a year ago, I made a mistake by giving Looking Glass a bad review. Shortly after, I came back and had a conversation with one of the managers; based on that conversation, I deleted that review. Today, I'm happy to give Looking Glass Brewing a 5 star review. Their customer service has improved significantly. In fact, the changes I've experienced since then have made it probably one of my favorite places to visit. They keep their beer rotating with new brews and I just had a delicious lunch... the onion gravy was on point and the sausages have a really good crunch. We met up on a weekday around 5:30 and it was pretty empty so we were seated right away. The booth we sat in was comfy and spacious. The menu is pretty typical brewpub fare, with sandwiches, salads, pizzas, etc. We started with the Hunter's sticks, which are cheese stuffed breadsticks, served with ranch and marinara. These came out first and I liked that they were cut into pieces for easy sharing. The breadsticks were a bit harder than I might have preferred (I was hoping for something closer to a soft Bosco stick) but they were still tasty. The ranch was particularly delicious. For dinner I ordered the steakhouse salad, medium rare. Nate got the Cajun chicken club sandwich and our friend got a crispy chicken wrap. The sandwiches and wraps come with either chips or fries, and our server told us that there's no up charge for fries, which is nice and not that typical. This is also a brewery so Nate tried a couple of their beers and seemed to like them. They also have a full bar. The food was quite tasty! I liked the salad although it was pretty salty, probably the bleu cheese dressing. There was a generous amount of steak and it was cooked nicely. I had a couple bites of Nate's sandwich and I thought it had great flavor. Overall this is a nice neighborhood spot that I'd come back to, since their menu is pretty large and it seems like there's something for everyone.
