Don't be on the lookout for a giant sign that says "Mountain Town Brewing Company" on the front of the building because you won't find it. If you're confused as to why you're pulling into a giant industrial complex, you're in the right spot. Lots of beer options to choose from as the menu rotates on the wall mounted television - You can also scan the QR code which will get you the beer menu along with some descriptions. Fortunately for me, this is also a smokehouse so the food is also pretty tasty. My wife, who's not a big fan of "smoked" anything loved the salmon. My ribs were also meaty and tasty. However, I think the Mexican Street Corn appetizer was my favorite. A customer next to us ordered the nachos and they looked phenomenal as well. Service was great - Bartenders were always on hand, offered samples, and were knowledgeable on their various beers on tap. Very large on the inside with plenty of seating at the bar as well as in the dining room. Multiple TV's airing different sports for the most part. One of our favorite places to stop on the way to the Soaring Eagle whenever we make our way. If I'm forced to complain about anything, it would be the lack of a paper beer menu. However, they're constantly rotating beers so I understand why the QR code is much simpler. read more

Food is average to above average. Been here multiple times and sometimes I'm allowed to switch out the listed side dishes and sometimes I'm told the server cannot sub or swap out sides because the chef will get mad. (I've been told this twice) It's not a Michelin starred restaurant or anything... swap out the mashed potatoes for the fries who cares why be mad about that??!?!! read more

My wife and I stopped by for the evening and thoroughly enjoyed the Dinner, Drinks, and atmosphere. The food and service was amazing! Lindsey was our server. We couldn't ask for better service. Beer and wine was excellent. Artichoke dip was very enjoyable with beer and wine while watching the sun set! The Dip to bread ratio was perfect! Lindsey provided plenty of friendly attention, not too much. Just right! Thanks Lindsey!!! Mountain Town Station has a wonderful inside environment. Every customer seemed to enjoy the visit here. Laid back. About 2ish on a Friday afternoon. Tigers in tv, a BLT and beer. As far as I am concern a lovely place. I was able to sit at the bar, watch the brewers brew and sit and eat. The guy at the bar quite knowledgeable on his beers and flavors. The menu is small but, that is okay. The beer-tender told me, the Pickard address has more beer (where I am at) and the Broadway address has more food. That is great too. I just wanted a beer, a sandwich and to catch some of the Tigers. Big fan of the Train Wreck. Never knew it was from this brewery. Limited bar menu but a pretty cool ambiance and a good selection of sandwiches and appetizers. Had about 18 beers on tap. Half of them seasonal. Highly recommend stopping in if you are in town. read more

I'm pretty easy to please. Good beer, decent food, and average service will go a long way. Given the location, this place would make an ideal stop on the way up north - and I really do want to like it. Unfortunately I have to be honest and say I've been disappointed twice now. The beer is okay. The black IPA tasted a little funky, and my sandwich wasn't great either - the bread was soggy and it was all smashed around. That probably would have been okay if the service were good, but it was even worse than my first visit. I could only ask for things when I was able to catch someone's attention - the bartender kept his back to the patrons at the bar as often as possible. I wasn't the only one with an empty pint glass either. The place isn't big enough or so busy that two people couldn't provide better service. If it is too much for them, maybe there should be another person working - at least on Friday nights and weekends. Probably won't be going back, which is a bummer. read more

Not bad but not phenomenal. We sat out back on the deck so that made service a little slow. The food was pretty good. I got a brisket sandwich that was tender and flavorful. I loved the bun- it was crispy but very soft. The problem was that out waiter didnt seem too attentive and seemed like he was in a hurry. While refilling water glasses, he splashed some on the table as well as in my dinner guests plate of pasta. Without even acknowledging it, he leaned over the entire table to top off another glass while splashing that on the table as well. In the end, the food was good so I would come back, but I would definitely hope for another server. read more

Nice local brew pub to grab a beer and a great sandwich. We found our bartender to be knowledgeable and very welcoming, and I think many of the reviews you see on Facebook and a few here are actually about a different business in Mt. Pleasant. Fun stop on our drive through town, and I buy their brews like Train Wreck back home at our local grocery store. Also we were at a Polish festival in Bay City this summer and they had actually brewed a Polish beer with ingredients from Poland for the festival that was excellent. read more

We visited this location last weekend after a short trip to the area. Our hotel raved about the food here. I am not sure what they ordered, all 4 of us were LESS than impressed. Cold and zero flavor. The menus in our hotel rooms portrayed a good selection of choices, only to be told that was out dated and no longer offered. The menu online is also out dated. Very poor quality food, server James was average, no complaints with him, pop was cold and so was the food. Do not recommend. read more

Went there with a 4-man golf group a few weeks back. The Master Brewer was pretty personable and explained to me the different beers they had on tap. He also recommended the Sacred Grute (sp?) which actually turned out to be a pretty good brew. After speaking with him, we took our seat at a table in the small lounge next to the fireplace. We sat for around 10 minutes without being acknowledge by any of the 3 staff members who seemed to be working the bar / lounge. Finally, one of us went up to the (what seemed to be) self-serve popcorn station and proceeded to fill up a bowl before being scolded by a sarcastic barhand from across the room as he raced out of the back-area. "We generally like to do that ourselves!" he scolded. LOL. Its funny because talking with friends who have gone here before, the impression I get is that it is in fact a self serve type of setup. Anyways, it went downhill from there. We ordered some panini sandwiches that took about 30 minutes to prepare. The menu is pretty small so one would think that they could knock these sandwiches out quickly even though it is a very small kitchen area and food is not the venue's primary offering. I'm sorry, but 30 minutes is too long to wait for a sandwich. I don't care how good it tastes. Even after the popcorn scolding and the 30 minute sandwiches, it get's better! I decided to spin the beer wheel and I landed on black. That means that I have to drink a kamakaze mixture of all the beers they currently have on tap. So, of course we yucked it up a bunch amongst our group and got a pretty good laugh out of what I was preparing to do. That's when we heard the thin, perky, and disrespectful waitress say under her breath to her long-goateed barhand buddy, "yeah dude you are laughing too loud to be in here!" Apparantly, we did not fit her or the barhand buddy's preferred profile and we were having too much fun and laughing too much in the bar. Huh? This is likely because we looked like golfers who are out to get a few drinks after a long round. Hmmmm. Well, even after that it got even better after we cashed out and I went up to the counter and asked to buy a pint glass. This is when the goateed barhand abruptly stopped, in mid-pour, the pint he was pulling, grabbed a dirty, non-souvenier pint glass from next to the tap handles (one that someone just drank from and was waiting to be washed), and slammed it on the bar in front of me. After my startled look wore off and I realized his unfriendly sarcasm he instructed me to grab one myself off of the back wall and bring it back up to the bar to pay for it. Needless to say I did not leave a tip for the waitress or for the barhand when buying the souvenier glass. I kick myself for even buying the glass for my collection since every time I look at it I'm reminded of my horrible experience in this taproom. Bottom line: Beer Quality = good Beer flavors = ok Food = Great Service = HORRIBLE Sorry, but even if you have the best beer on tap and the best food to serve, your customer service has to be on point. You can't have disrespectful, unfriendly hosts treating your revenue stream like dirt. That's just a poor business model that free popcorn cannot make up for. Steer clear of this place! read more

I think the beer here is mediocre (over hopped and on the bitter side), the food is blasé (why, for the love of God, is everything a Panini?!?), and the atmosphere reminds me of a bar in some bodies basement. BUT, as a counterpoint my wife and her friends love the place. I used to come for the Team Trivia on Tuesday Nights, but they quit doing it. I would assume that many people drive down Pickard and don't even know this place exists.....signage is not helpful. I had GPS and still drove past twice before finding it. There isn't much as far as ambience/decor and in my opinion the environment in which I enjoy my beer is important. The beer was good I have to admit...I had the IPA and the Red. I originally ordered the Black IPA, but the keg popped mid through. The bartender asked if I had a second choice. C'mon dude, I am at the place where the beer is made.....tap another keg. Some of the beers are good, some taste like soap. I've only been here twice and both times on a Friday night. It's not been crazy busy but the two guys working sure make it seem like there's a line out the door. I've been sitting at the bar for at least 10 minutes with an empty pint glass. I'm thirsty! I'm not sure why the bartender won't make eye contact but that's the only advice I have for him. Look at the customers at the bar when you get other people's popcorn. Do they want to order food? Are their glasses near empty? Do they like the beer they chose? Ask more questions! read more

I had high hopes but was let down. The hostess was incredibly rude. We walked in at lunchtime with a large group, and when we told her we had 14 people she acted as if it was a huge inconvenience. She promptly walked away to "check something" and came back to tell us that they could do it but it would be about a half an hour wait. We expected a wait with the large group and didn't mind waiting, but we did consider finding something else because of the attitude we got about having a large party. We were seated and I was confused as to why it seemed to be such an issue to come in with a large party because there were only a handful of tables full. The server we had was good at first, she took our orders but then it took almost an hour to get our food. I ordered a cheeseburger and although it tasted ok, the cheese on top made me certain that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for some time. The beer was good. Everyone's food was a mixed bag. Some good some not. My main complaint was the service. The hostess is the first person you come in contact with at the restaurant so it would have been nice to have been greeted warmly. She literally just starred at us when we walked in and waited for us to speak first. As I watched others walk in I saw she did the same thing. We were only in town for the weekend visiting, but I probably wouldn't return or recommend it. Not sure what else is in the area but it's worth looking into it. read more

After having their beers at local restaurants in Grand Rapids, my wife and I stopped in to check the place out as we drove through Mt. Pleasant. I was not expecting much based on the one yelp review from 9/12. I was SO pleasantly (like what I did there?) surprised with our experience. We were greeted as we came in and we sat ourselves as it was a pretty light crowd as you might expect on a friday mid-day visit. The bartender/waitress was very attentive to us and tried to help us find a good beer based on what we were looking for. We wanted to try something different than the ones we have tried of theirs in Grand Rapids and also wanted to avoid the lighter standards. She brought us a few samples so we could see what we wanted beforehand and we ordered accordingly. They were decent beers. While we were drinking, we were told that the brewer would be happy to give anyone a tour of the back who wanted one and show us their process. Completely unexpected, but since this is something my wife and I quite like doing at the places we visit, we brought our beers along and headed in the back. The brewer was very friendly and knowledgable. We chatted a bit and he answered questions. Nothing but good things to say about this place. Well worth a stop. read more

Many have said that the bar menu is limited. It wasn't too bad but the issue we had was that the food took so long and a lot of it wasn't good. The irate golfer's one star review and rant of this tap room is a bit unfair. The only thing he got right is how personable the brew master is and the fact you can get a great meal there. In NO way is the popcorn station self serve.... It's behind the bar!!! Obviously you are going to get scolded. There was no winning this guy over it seems after that experience. Since I am a regular there and saw this bias review I felt I had to at least get some truth out there. The truth is this: this place is a hidden gem in a town filled with college bars. They make spectacular and unique brews and I beg you to research and experience the Gruit. Kim, the brewmaster with the rest of the staff are a kind, helpful team and they sincerely just want you to be comfortable, have a good time and enjoy a good beer. Do yourself a favor and check them out. They are a pillar in the Michigan craft beer scene and it's rare to be surrounded by people who love what they do. read more

Just went in to try and enjoy a nice cold beer after work...the young woman behind the bar (long dark hair, nose ring) sat and leaned against the bar, staring at me for ten minutes, never came over to ask me if I wanted anything...never acknowledged my presence.
