This is the best middle eastern food I have ever had! The flavors and spices danced in my mouth and even though I was almost busting I had to finish ever bite of what was on my plate. The owner is also the chet and put little door bells on each table to ring him if you needed anything. It was not needed as we were the only ones in the restaurant and he took great care of us giving us a free tea before we left. I would definitely come back to try more amazing things! read more

The chicken breast pieces were dry, over cooked. Rice lacked luster. There could have been more chicken and rice. Quantity was a bit skimpy we thought. We definitely prefer Shawma City's (in Amherst NY) chicken over rice. But since we were in Lackawanna (south of Buffalo), we wanted to give this place a try. We took it home. Best lamb steak I ever tasted. It's as good as the best beef steak I've ever had. I also tried the potatoes with veggies and what I can only say is the worlds biggest, best tasting naan. I upped my review to 5 stars because of the outstanding food, but the place still could use a little sprucing up. The restaurant is located next to the Erie County and Buffalo Botannical Gardens on South Park. It's on metro bus routes 16, 42 and 101. Wheel chair access would be difficult. Crave King came to the rescue on Sunday when all the meager vegan options in South Buffalo were closed. We ordered falafel, hummus, fatoush (salad), and mushakal - a saucy potato dish that smelled a bit like chana masala. The food was good and very affordable. The falafel had lettuce and pickles wrapped in a typical white restaurant supply tortilla. It was great with the hummus and the mushakal. When I looked up mushakal, I saw it can be part of falafel sandwich, so we added it ourselves. The dressing on the fatoush was very good but otherwise it was just like a house salad - iceberg, pale tomatoes (its winter), cucumber, large red onion chunks, and what seemed like regular croutons rather than pita. I'd probably skip it next time. For whatever reason, bread wasn't part of the grubhub menu, so we had to use other things on hand to finish the hummus. read more

Chicken is very tender cooked to perfection. Rice tasted good. Hummus is phenomenal. Falafel is tasty and cooked tasty. Baklava is crunchy and just the right of sweetness. This was my second time having Crave King and they really delivered! The previous visit we dined inside and the gentlemen working were very welcoming. They saw my son and even offered to put on cartoons for him. Another customer sat down and they helped him work on his Arabic for school. Very cool! This time we ate at home, we had two chicken shawarmas, an order of hummus, and an order of bread. Very good value for the price, large helpings of rice, and chicken with the shawarma and a bit of hearty salad and sauce on top. The shawarma over rice also comes with a spicy red sauce that truly accents the dish. My experience with this dish has mostly been from Lebanese versions, and I really enjoyed the Yemeni variation. Crave King also offers Yemeni cuisine which I am eager to try. The Hummus seemed too heavy with tahini but otherwise very creamy and topped with chopped tomatoes and onions. Maybe needs a bit more lemon juice, or maybe that's just my bias. Either way, it was yummy. THE BREAD STOLE THE SHOW! This was some big, bubbly, fresh, and stretchy Khubz (: Next time I will order more as it was a favorite of my sons. I'll be honest, the restaurant is nothing to look at and seems a little sketch. It's on a corner by Baker victory and the botanical gardens. For me, this is a takeout only joint. Service is excellent, nice guy doing it all. Asked about our baby, and smiled. We decided to get a few things, but we were mainly craving Kufta. We ordered Lamb Kufta, chicken kebab, shish shrimp, tabboleh, and hummus. I recently gave Al sultan a pretty great review, but it may not have been as good if I had tried crave king first. The hummus here is my favorite, really creamy, not full of garlic and nice flavored olive oil on top. Tabboleh had a lot of parsley and more than expected. My partner loves the fresh herbs with his meal and he nearly ate all of it. Kebab was spices just right, and not too lamby. The chicken kebab was actually just grilled tenders, so I dipped them in the amazing hummus. Shrimp was slightly spicy but perfect. The rice has a better flavor here than other local establishments, and I can taste clove/cinnamon. I wish I would have ordered some bread because I saw them making it fresh and it would have made this place over the top. Complimentary salad was good with a mayo based dressing, and romaine. They didn't cheap out with iceburg. This is my new Kufta go to. read more

Not to be confused with the guy selling E's at the EDM festival. That's the "Rave King." Crave King is pretty awesome and they give out early enormous portions of Middle Eastern food, which tastes really good. I did get overcharged quite significantly compared to the menu but I'm not complaining because I like the taste quite a lot. If the actual dinners were a little bit cheaper than I would easily give it 5 stars and return more often. read more

I had the chicken shawarma over rice with white sauce and it was pretty good. It is tasty and for people who do not want to eat spicy food. I also tried their grilled fish and lamb ghallaba over rice. The grilled fish takes over 30 minutes to make but it's very tasty. Unfortunately it isn't boneless. And I personally did not think that lamb ghallaba was good. They also serve mango smoothie which is very good. The place looks old and can use some renovation. I really wanted to leave just by looking at the place and the restroom is small and not very clean. The only reason I have given this place a 4 star is because of the food and the staff. There is free street parking but it might be challenging to find a spot on a busy day. read more

The cook had placed pickles inside mine, which was unexpected, but interesting. Maybe they could fill it with a few more things, so it's more full. This restaurant is opposite the Botanical Gardens, so be prepared for lunch or dinner with a spectacular view. As we entered Crave King, we were served immediately. The chef/owner helped our rather large party get seated by rearranging the furniture to accommodate us. The seating area was small but comfortable. And despite the restrooms needing a cleaning, the kitchen seemed organized and clean from what I was able to perceive. Now, on to the good part, the food. The complimentary sweet tea was hot and sweet. It was very relaxing and got right to one's core. The lamb koftah is a must have, but request how much you'd like it done. The default on this dish is very well done, so I would recommend upfront specifications on doneness. I guess this applies to all of the dishes. For example, while the American cheeseburger and the lamb koftah were both well done, the chicken leg quarters were overly so. This made them dry. If I had specified doneness ahead of time, this might have been circumvented. Despite this minor issue, all of the other components of the meal were on point. The food was served piping hot, the salad was crispy and fresh, and the naan (bread/roti) was soft, chewy, and had the right amount of crunchiness to it. Overall, the visit to Crave King was made a memorable and pleasant experience not only by the food, but by the warm, hospitable, and customer-friendly attitude of its chef/owner. I would highly recommend a visit to Crave King Restaurant if you're ever in the area; for lunch or for dinner. read more

It's good to be king. This place is amazing! I came to this tiny hole in the wall local spot after driving past and wondering for months. Needless to say what I found blew me away. Where have these flavors been my entire life? Wow. Awesome stuff and for a fair price too. You will not regret giving this place a shot. You know you're in a good place when the style of food, (this case middle eastern) and the people coming in and out match. Just in the few minutes I sat waiting I saw 4 or 5 middle eastern guys come in and go with bags of food. Not one word of english was spoken other then to communicate with me so authenticity here is 100% and in a big way it shows in the food. The flavors and seasonings here blew my mind and my belly into a very blissfull state. So much so that here I am actually mad that I havent explored this cuisine sooner in life. I'm just going to say it. At a time like this, with our country and worlds current state of affairs being so controversial and upturned, it will be the food that unites us as a people and as a planet. You simply cannot eat this stuff and not be a huge fan! A++ and a solid 5 stars all day guys! CHECK IT OUT !!! Worthy of mentioning a couple things here. This place is very small. There are tables and chairs and you can totally bring a group, but expect to pack it in. Another note, check the new menu as the phone number has changed. I have posted pics for your convenience. Was recommended this by a friend since we just recently moved to the area but I have to say I was a bit disappointed. I'm usually a big fan of middle eastern food but this place didn't leave me wanting more. The inside was a bitch sketchy and the people weren't all that friendly when I picked up my takeout. I wasn't overly impressed with the prices either. The one thing I did love was the hummus with grilled pita. It was huge and very filling but I thought a bit overpriced. Maybe come back to try again and give it a second chance since my friend really loves it but they'd really have to sweep me off my feet next time if they wanted me to return again. I'd say give it a try for the hummus alone but the combos we ordered didn't taste as fresh or as flavorful as a lot of places in Buffalo do. Well, the great Yelp reviews pushed me to come here, so I got on the bus from downtown and made my way to South Buffalo. I got off right in front of the beautiful botanical gardens which are literally across the street from this amazing Yemeni restaurant. I read wonders about its giant, soft, and flaky bread so I got 2 of them (at $1.50 each) along with lamb ghallaba over rice, and a small order of hummus. The food came out quite rapidly, was hot, and delicious. The bread is soft, toasty, and made for dipping into a little spicy tomatoey sauce (think similar to pico de gallo, for lack of a better term), or into the heavenly hummus I also ordered. The hummus (small was $3) had a lot of yummy olive oil and was so creamy and great. The lamb ghallaba over rice ($14) is a Yemeni dish that has tomatoes and some spices on it and is very tasty and filling. Do yourself a favor and go there now!! read more
