Great place to run! Running 2 laps is about a little more than a mile. When I run 4 laps, it comes out to 2.42 miles. Always lit and people around. Though there are a few dark corners, nothing to be weary about. Just know your surrounding and you'll be fine. It's just recently that there is a funny smell to the area. I don't know what it is, but it kinda burns the nose a bit. read more

You can come here to play most of the common sports: - Football - Soccer - Baseball - Basketball - Tennis - Frisbee - etc. You can also run along their track or create your own route along the sidewalks in/around the park. The grass here gets pretty beaten up because people play on it all the time. The basketball and tennis courts, field, and track can get pretty packed depending on the time of day you come. This means that parking might also be hard to find. If it weren't for these last few points, this place would have been 4-stars/5-stars. read more

They drained the lake/pond, cleaned it out, and make it look all pretty again. Yay! Throughout the majority of my high school years it was either a murky green, or half-empty. I'm pretty sure I saw a sludge monster or two in there. Now there's a bunch of HUGE (and I mean huge) geese and ducks in there, frolicking about. I can't tell you much. I'm hella scared of birds, so I try to steer clear of that area. It seems like families have fun feeding them though. I had no idea that there were no dogs allowed. Oops. I brought my dog Bowser to the park last weekend, and my friend brought her dog too. We kept them on leashes while everyone else played Frisbee, and no one seemed to mind. We also saw another couple walking with their dog off leash around the park. Cute. The track is filled with high hopes and shattered dreams. Many are starting out their "workout," while others are kicking themselves for not following through. Start running more, right? I tried and only went twice :( At night there's a lot of elderly Asians walking though, and some people even like to bring out the strollers as well. I find it nice. If you're serious about running, you can follow the extended track. It goes around the pond and the basketball courts as well, and I believe one full lap equates to a mile. Or I heard that three laps around the regular loop is also 1 mile, but I'm not sure. I run here regularly as the track provides 1 mile of running space as well as various different views to distract you from the fact that you're dehydrated, your muscles ache, and you'd rather be at home Netflixing your life away. But alas, you need to keep in shape because that's what your Fitbit demands of you. The track is a little beaten down but still provides more support than the concrete that local neighborhoods provide. The figure 8 loop is about 1.09 miles, which helps a lot when keeping mental notes as to which mile you're on. Parking near the baseball/softball fields can be tricky during early to late afternoons as it's overrun by minivans fighting for territory to get prime locations to unload snacks and players, but there's plenty of parking near the Almansor banquet hall that's very close to the track. The only downside for runners is that the park is currently overpopulated by Pokemon "masters". People are so consumed by catching their Pokemon that they forget common human decency to step aside from the track to allow those who choose to live in actual reality, as opposed to augmented/virtual reality, to carry on with their exercise. There's a gym located at the bigger green gazebo by the pond, so you'll see many people on their phones there. These Pokemon zombies are all over the place, and because there are so many of them, you may also have trouble logging onto the app and using it properly (read: freeze and crashes ever 2-3 Pokemon you catch). I'll admit that I do play Pokemon Go here and have caught a few during a run, but I always make sure to step off the track and look around before going into Pokemon pursuit mode. I've been coming here for a little over 10 years. This park I would say is the best out of all the other parks around my area. Great place to go if you want to do some out door activities. This park has a great track which loops around the baseball field and the basketball courts. It is also very populated with people running/walking, playing basketball, tennis, soccer, and just hanging out by the bench feeding the ducks. I've been going to Almansor more consistently just this year. It's a nice little park with a figure eight running/jogging/walking track, which loops around, a good portion of the park. The park also has various exercise stations including sit-ups, pull-ups, push-ups section, among others which I don't use. There are lots of people jogging, running, or walking the track, so it can get crowded. Parking can be difficult after 4 pm inside the park, so opt to park in the street if you arrive after 4:30 pm. On Mondays they have little league games. I'm not sure about other times during the week, since I mostly go on Mondays. The baseball field lighting seems to go off by 9 pm and it can get pretty dark at the park. In addition to the baseball fields, there are basketball courts and a pond. There are ducks and geese. This is a very nice, clean, people and family friendly. This is a beautiful park but it does get really busy with kids, young and older crowds. You will really enjoy your visits. There are basketball courts, there is a track for walking or running. There are baseball games and soccer games going on in the spring and fall. There is a small pond with ducks and apparently turtles saw one yesterday. Great for walks as the sunsets. read more

This place sucks! Poor LA-locals don't know a real park....being in LA, who could blame them?! This place is ok if you have kids that want to play a bit and run around I guess. It's also ok if you like to walk in circles with large crowds and feel like a hamster on one of those wheel things. Coming from Orange County maybe I've been spoiled. I use to live 5 min away from Craig regional park in brea and that place was awesome-hills, trails, lots of playgrounds, lots of seating, tons of parking, great restrooms, rivers and bridges and rolling hills that gave you a true taste of the great outdoors.....Almansor has none of this. It's behind a school and between a main st and a private golf country club. Downsides; -parking sucks and fills us quickly, especially after 3pm -the place is small!!! -the walking trail sucks, it's narrow and just a boring circle -there's no bikes or dogs allowed near the track/trail -there's tons of roaches here at night -there's only 1 set of bathrooms -they rarely have the lights on the field on after 8pm -the park use to be and still could be bigger but the private gold course took over 80% of the park -majority of people are middle aged and older Asian people On the upside; -it's a well kept park -the trail is lit at night -they have a new kids playground -it's good for recreational sports Overall do not recommend unless you're just bringing your kids here. This place is too crowded, and he trail is so short and flat that it's pretty much pointless to walk it if you are looking to meet your exercise needs. LA needs more parks and nature....too bad parks don't make money otherwise the city would be all over it. Shame shame. read more

This park is huge! They have a lot to offer for my 7-year-old daughter. I just hate the fact that there is bird poop and feathers almost everywhere you go due to the ducks and geese living at their lake. I understand why they don't allow dogs because it would only add to the mess. That alone is the only reason they are not going to get a 5 star rating from me. read more

It was my first time visit there to start ruining at their running trail. The trail inside next to the baseball field is clean and nice and very new. However, the trail will pass by the public restroom that really smells bad. It really turn me down by that smell while I run/walk for 5 laps. read more

I did visit this place in April and I took my pup! She is a small dog she had her leash on the whole time. My kids and I walked around with the rest of the people that were actually exercising that morning. I did not know dogs weren't allowed. I saw the sign after I was done with my walk. I feel that as long as dogs are kept on a leash there shouldn't be a problem. It's not like the park is poop and pee free anyway lol ...In my opinion. This park is actually one of my favorite but now I don't know how I feel. The park itself is nice, not super clean but ok for the most part. Nice park, if you avoid the aggressive geese (bitter memories from the arboretum) and their large poops. The park has basketball courts, baseball diamonds (for little kids and for adults), tennis courts as well as a track that runs the perimeter of the park. It's a relatively small park that borders a golf course so the view is pretty nice. Though there were plenty of families, random joggers, and group functions, a good portion of the park were overrun with obnoxious teenagers. Don't care too much for that.. read more

Pretty decent park with pretty much what you can ask for. You can play basketball, baseball, tennis and you got the running track that goes around the park. This place also has a sweet pond if you just want to relax and chill. Something you even get attacked by the geese which is a plus in my book. You can also heckle at the golfers on the golf course next door if you want to blow some steam but don't tell them I told you. read more

Theres a pond in the middle of the park and if you watch closely turtles come up. I stood there with my boyfriend watching what looked my hundreds of them popping their cute little heads out of the murky water. Theres a playground for children, tennis court, mini-trail perfect for bikers, open field for various sport activities, and multiple picnic tabled areas for barbecues or just hanging out. FIREWORKS! YAY FOR FIREWORKS! Some friends moved out to Alhambra this year and invited us over to hang out for the 4th of July. Drove over to Almansor park area in the evening to catch the fireworks... 1) Shoulda driven over a lot earlier if we wanted closer parking. Ended up parking in the CVS parking lot on Valley, buuuuut it was actually okay because we had a good view off of Adams in a residential area. Not to mention, it was quicker for us to get in/out by foot than by car. 2) The show itself was good! Not sure if everyone would agree (a local said this year was really bad compared to previous years) but I loooove fireworks and enjoyed them. 3) Not sure if there's accompanying music somewhere on the radio, but will investigate beforehand next year if we had this way again. read more

This is probably the best outdoor track around the neighborhood. Like some other reviews mentioned, the only thing they're really missing is a swimming pool. I know people that live 5-7 miles away that come here to run so that must mean something about this place. People who come here tend to keep to themselves and mind their own business. There are baseball fields and grassy fields where people play soccer. Some of the local little leagues play here pending season. Super family friend place. And since it's Alhambra, you'll see a lot of Tai Chi going on here especially in the mornings. Breakdown AstroTurf track: Good on the knees and also all weather. Years before it was actually gravel. Two routes. One that circles about half of the park and the other swings you across the man-made pond. Yes there is a pond here. Fitness Stops: Randomly on the track there are these little stations for extra fitness. The only ones people tend to use are the sit-up and pull up stations. Otherwise people use them to stretch rather than for whatever the instructions are at these stations because some of them are a bit bizarre in my opinion. You know what I mean if you've been here. The pond: There are ducks here and geese(?). You can feed the animals because I sometimes see people feed them bread. There is also seating areas around the pond for social gatherings. Gymnasium: The local schools here use it for competitive play pending season. I know they also have open court hours for some indoor sports like volleyball. On top of that there are also clubs that practice here during designated hours along with classes the city of Alhambra offers. Outside the area are plenty of outdoor basketball courts which are always packed. They also have a lawn bowling field here. Never see anyone there but I'm sure it's used because it's maintained and been there for years. Tennis Courts: If I remember correctly, there are three courts. Depending on what time they can get packed. I've played her a couple of times in the past. It's kept in great condition better than the ones by Story Park which is about a mile or so away. Kids play area: Well, if you have kids I guess all I can say is this place is kid friendly. *One note: watch your footing by the pond area because the wildlife here, if you can call it that, leave some surprises on the ground. read more

If Almansor Park wasn't so far from where I live, I'd probably frequent it more. My coworkers introduced Almansor Park to me as a great place to go jogging together once a week. Along with a nice little running track, there's plenty of field space to play baseball, basketball, soccer, do yoga, and just generally have some space to run around and enjoy being physical. As the weather gets warmer, the plentiful parking has started to get pretty filled up, so I'd recommend either getting there earlier or just be patient and wait for a spot to open up. read more

Lots of space if you avoid the track! haha what I mean is that besides running around the neat rubber track, you can easily join in the pick-up games, soccer on Saturdays and Sundays, ultimate frisbee on Sundays...the soccer pick-up games are very regular: the one run by Chinese peeps start Sunday morning, quite early, and they bring their own full-size goals; then there is one truly open to anyone run by a group of fantastic Futbolistas, open to all levels and genders, starts later on Sunday mornings, using small goals (no goalies allowed) and real goals alternatively. Sherry, Sonia and Chuck have pretty much said all the good things about this place. Chuck's review is quite idyllic and picturesque, and covers all the great happenings of the park during the times where I'm pretty much never there. I'm in full consensus with them, so I'll talk about the things that make me dock one star in a bit. I come here on a regular basis when the park isn't crowded. Lol. It literally is quite packed all day from 5 am to 10 pm, especially now that it's summer, so that narrows down the time you're likely to see me there by a lot, haha. It's also very clean, considering how freaking often the park is being used everyday, kudos on that. The flower arrangement at the garden is also nice, located near the bathrooms. Lots of couples like to canoodle there on the bench. Okay, so for the negatives, the track usually takes half a year to fix when something happens to it, and there's all this disgusting gray sludge oozing out from the sides at various parts of the track. Another thing that's gone south is the lake. The grass had receded and what's left of it looks like Morgana stepped on it. It just makes the place look depressing. It used to be beautiful and lush with healthy grass a decade ago. I wish they'd do something about it, but easier said than done. Seriously though, what the fudge is wrong with the track?! It feels like a horror movie at night and the track is bleeding a Ton if demonic sludge goo. The far side has it extremely bad, dried streams of tarnished earth blood, and it's currently warded with hazard posts. It also creates an inconvenient bottleneck. It takes like, 3 months to replace a burnt-out light bulb as well. What's up with that. The track I can understand, but light bulbs shouldn't be that expensive to fix. The place could use some more trees, too. It's pretty sparse. But despite those downsides, it's the best park to relax at in Alhambra, and their track is conveniently a mile long. The place is also lit at night, enough so that you're able to spot someone at the other side of the track. After everything's said and done, this is still definitely my goto place for parks in the area. read more

been going here for a handful of years now. it has everything you'd want in a rec park. there's basketball and tennis courts. there's 3 baseball fields. a sandlot playground for little kids with swings and things. there's plenty of grass field to play whatever. on the northeastern part of the park is a huge open grass field. and its suround by a nice sidewalk path complete with shock absorbing green material. there used to be some pull-up bars at one of the exercise stations around the path, but the bars are gone now. this park does get CROWDED on the weekends and early evening now since it's the summer. there is little league softball/baseball here too so the parking lot gets filled pretty quick when they have their games.but there's plenty of street parking around the front entrance of the park, just a little walk away from the main part of the park. one thing about people bringing their dogs: I don't mind it even though park rules prohibit them, but please, I do mind when the little critters poop and the owners don't bring a bag/container for it. if they pee, dammit, have them pee on the OUTTER PART OF THE PARK WHERE PEOPLE DON'T USUALLY PLAY OR RUN AROUND. I was there with my wife tonight and the security patrol closed it down for the night around 11pm. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE 4TH OF JULY! the annual fireworks starts at 9pm and the park is always crowded. always a good crowd! come early if you want a good seating area. boomboomPOW! read more

I love coming here to run. The track is a little confusing when it comes to distance but whatever I mostly run for time. Evenings are usually packed with people of all ages walking on the track and playing soccer or other sports. So you continuously have to run around people when running. I love going on the weekends cause it's not so packed in the mornings or mid-day. read more

It was great now its just ehhh... I loved Almansor park for it's quiet jogging/ running area, it's old folks doing tai chi and the beautiful scenery. Yeah it had some bad points, some geese poo poo on the grass and running area, the loud baseball game here and there and the kids playground that his been under construction for God only knows how long, but I still loved it. NOW...uggghhh It is still a great place to get your exercise in, but it is no longer quiet and not as clean. Now there makeshift soccer areas that have come up and mostly all the nice grass areas have been taken up by this. I am seeing more and more Geese poo poo each time I go where as before they would clean it up the same day. The kids area is getting dirty as well with cups and ice cream wrappers that the kids who play baseball leave behind. I don't see as many older folks here anymore as the younger crowd is taking over and with that the park is going to cap. read more

The staff there are very prejudice against any person with a large dog, Even though dogs are not allowed at the park which is probably the only park in the world that doesnt allow dogs because I have never heard of any other parks that dont allow dogs. Staff here will personally walk up to you if you have a large dog and kick you out and at the same time ignore the other person with the small toy dog. I have experienced this first hand getting kicked out of the park with my dog while other people are enjoying the park with their small dogs. This park is great! I was looking for a new jogging/running route that wasn't so bumpy for my stroller and this was perfect! Only downside, it's super busy and packed with walkers. Even in the morning during the week. I arrived at the park on a Friday at 6:30am and there was already quite a fewer people out there walking on the path. I guess next time I'll have to head out there earlier to beat traffic... And there are tons of ducks and squirrels!! read more

ahhhh-choo! i am in love with this park. and i was never much of a park person before. i have pretty bad allergies so a day at the park usually kills me. ahhhh-choo! i have the kind that lingers all year long. i think i'm pretty much allergic to air. everything makes me sneeze...ahhhh-choo! pollen, cats, change of weather, a/c, guys that wear too much cologne... then my eyes itch like they're on fire and of course, i'll start scratching them until i look like i have major eyelids. with all the AYEs and stuff, i've been goin to the park quite a lot and every time i get back in my car, i start sneezing like a crazy woman! ahhhh-choo! and i don't have one of those cutesy lil girly sneezes either... i don't even know how to they do that...sounding like a lil mouse squealing with the tiniest little voice - chew. its cute but my sneezes are pretty loud and manly. even kinda scary. it is just a mere sacrifice i have to make...ahhhh-choo! i have been to this park 3 times now. the first one was for a lil kid's b-day party. they have plenty of party spaces which i'm sure u'll need to wake up at the crack of dawn to reserve. i've been there.. i know how it is. the last two times have been to work out with my personal trainer. today, i got there super early to make sure i wasn't late again. so i had time to check out the park for a good hour. i guess i never noticed but this park is huge! there's a gym where they have volleyball, table tennis, basketball, and badminton... i soooo wanna play badminton here... u hear me, ricky?? on the weekends, they have open play. there are also a couple of baseball fields, a lake, a golf course, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a running path! man...i love it just for the running path! the path goes around one of the baseball fields and every hundred feet or so, there are areas to stretch and little benches and stuff to do some exercises. sooo cool! i got to do a light run for about 30 min before my killer workout. the park gets really packed so parking can be a pain. there are small lots all over plus street parking. the restrooms aren't as scary as i thought they would be. ahhhh-choo! overall, i love this park! and i think i want to do more AYEs here.. :) ahhhh-choo! i really did sneeze that many times.... read more
