The overall atmosphere did not feel particularly warm or inviting. We asked for a tour of the facility so we could get a better sense of the practice before committing to treatment. The request seemed to feel like we were asking for too much. We were shown the room in general and the water dispenser, but it hardly felt like a thoughtful introduction to the facility or the patient experience. I also asked if we could briefly meet the doctor. He was there at the time, but we were told he was not available. I understand that providers have busy schedules and certainly do not expect someone to drop everything for us. However, when a prospective patient is considering a course of treatment that could amount to around $10,000 between insurance and out-of-pocket expenses, I would expect the initial experience to be considerably more welcoming, attentive, and professional. First impressions matter, particularly when you are deciding who to trust with your health and making a significant financial commitment. Unfortunately, the in-person experience did not live up to the strong impression Kinematics creates online, and we left without feeling confident about moving forward. Experiences like this really make me miss my previous physical therapy practice, FORMA in Newport Beach, where I felt genuinely welcomed and valued as a patient.
