Oh boy, I'm glad I happened to pass through this area because this place was a gem! I ordered the Meat Lover's Omelet, and believe it or not, I'm really not an omelet person. I kept it simple--no onions, tomatoes, or all the extra stuff. Just eggs wrapped around bacon, sausage, and ham. Man, this thing was GOOD. The meat had a little sweetness to it that worked perfectly with the eggs, and the potatoes were absolutely amazing. Everything just hit the spot. I sat at the bar and had a chance to ask my server a few questions about the place. She was super friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. Definitely glad I found this spot. Great breakfast, great service, and one of those places you're already thinking about coming back to before you even leave. I was originally going to give full stars, but after the meal and was appalled at the management and support. We arrived at 7:50am, hoping for a quick breakfast before a doctors appointment at 9:10am around the corner. It took the waitress forever to come to our table because she was the only one up front. Totally reasonable. By 8:20am there was over 18 guests and still just her trying to seat people, give them beverages, make espresso, input orders, and basically manage everything. Again. Totally reasonable why things were taking longer. She was hauling a** and working hard. So imagine my utter dismay when I saw a man, probably the manager or owner just standing there like a jacka** not helping her but making polite greetings and conversation to the people at the bar. Utterly unacceptable to watch your employee or someone struggle with that many tasks and not do a darn thing about it. Looking so proud and like everything is just dandy as you lean against the doorframe doing absolutely nothing. Our waitress gets a five star rating but this one star reflects the behavior of whoever that owner/manager is letting staff drown around him. Shame on you. read more

It's always good to walk into an ethnic restaurant and see it is full of the same ethnicity. It shows that the restaurant makes quality food the right way. We returned to Almuerzo for a visit a year later. My wife ordered JR's Favorite and a Bloody Mary again but I got the Red Slow Cooked Beef Benedict and an iced tea. Before tip, it came to $47.18. Our brunch arrived in 10 mins. The chillechilles were full of pulled pork, with lots of chips, plenty of tomatillo sauce and two nice, runny eggs. Perfect. My Benedict was every bit as sumptuous, piled high with savory, braised beef on a corn cake, beautifully poached eggs and hollandaise sauce over all. I didn't see the cotija cheese on top though. Also, my potatoes were a scant 10 half pieces of red potatoes, but I was full after eating nonetheless. Our service was excellent, despite sitting at the back table. Cute little gem in Laveen! I am so excited we finally tried this place. We arrived around 12 pm and were sat inside immediately. It's a tiny, unassuming little spot -- there's very limited seating but you have patio options as well. They offer specials every week along with their regular menu. I ordered The Chef's Favorite with poached eggs and my partner ordered The Green Chili Benedict. Wow! So much great flavor in both dishes. The Chef's Favorite comes with red chile beef on top of a thin corn cake with your choice of eggs and their house sauce. Also comes with a side of Almuerzo papas or hash browns. It was delicious! I am not normally a red sauce girly but this one was out of this world delicious. The beef was tender with a hint of spice and went so well with the corn cake and the poached eggs. My partner's dish was tasty as well. The green chile is served with either pork or chicken and a side of papas or hash browns. He is quite picky with his food and clearly enjoyed this dish. It's a local, not a franchise, breakfast, brunch type place which we are always seeking out. We do not like chains whether national or local. They have a unique menu and a unique special sauce. Not the greatest, but at least not like all-the-others if you know what I mean. Its a small place with a small kitchen and the turnaround on orders is slow. The friendliness of the staff makes up for a part of it. Was fairly busy while we were there with a heavy Hispanic clientele which we thought was great given their Hispanic influenced menu items. We were in the area for other reasons, so this is not near us, but if we're ever in the area again we'd come back. read more

Stopped in here on a Sunday morning for some yummy brunch! The place does have limited seating inside and they do have outfit seating also. It was definitely a mom and pop place and it was delicious! They have a ton of options for an everyone. The service was amazing. She was attentive and kind and in a good mood. The cooks were laughing and joking which made for a fun ambiance. We met extended family here for New Year's Day brunch - our first time/not their first visit. We called ahead for seating & were seated quickly. Our server brought our waters and returned for our order. Two of us ordered coffee drinks which came out pretty quickly- unfortunately it was downhill from there. My husband received his meal, then 9-10 minutes passed before 2 more meals arrived and we had to ask where they were before getting them. We waited another 5-6 minutes before inquiring about the 4th meal. Seriously, food was getting cold waiting, so we started eating with one person watching us eat. Very uncomfortable. After another 4-5 minutes the burrito arrived and we asked to see the manager. He came over and proceeded to make excuses. Mistakes happen, but there was NO communication to keep us updated while we waited, then only excuses when we questioned the delays. Even after all this, they brought us the check, offered NO concessions, and we had to ask twice for a small to go box for the half of the burrito that didn't get eaten because everyone else was finished with their meal. Really a disappointing visit. It was a shame, because the food as very good. read more

The service was phenomenal, down to earth, and helpful, with suggestions and refills frequently. I ordered the green chili omelet with chicken, a side of potatoes, and sourdough toast. The flavor combination was fantastic. The spice level was perfect, and it served beautifully on the plate. My dining companion ordered chicken and waffles served with maple syrup and a perfect hint of spice to complement the sweetness. The chicken breading was light and flaky, and perfectly fried chicken tenders were used. This place feels like a hidden gem, small location but I noticed how packed they get for brunch. We tried it today and im disappointed on my self for not trying it sooner. Its literally walking distance from my house and Im determined to become a regular. The server George also added humor to being a good waiter, he didnt miss a beat. The food is good but I wish they had more options for food . Seems like a small menu. My biggest thing about a breakfast menu is having biscuits and gravy and they don't have it. The service is really reallllllly slow. You have to have lots of patience. It's also a very small place and uncomfortable with everyone so close. Not going to give a bad rating because I've never actually been here though I really want to try it and my complaint is not the fault of the restaurant. However, the last several times I have been past this intersection the entire area smells like an open sewer. I shop down the road on 51st Ave and Baseline, but I often take Southern to avoid the school traffic on Baseline. Not sure how anyone can eat anywhere near there with that HORRIFIC odor in the air. Pray you do not have to sit at a red light. If you want to eat here I would suggest approaching it from the South and holding your nose until you get inside. I really hope someone does something about it before March. My sister will be visiting and I would love to take her here for brunch. read more

I came in for a lunch break and I was not disappointed. When I got to everybody was super friendly and greeted me immediately. I got to say where I want, probably because there was nobody else there but that's fine. It's a large open space, in a straight line, so they're a lot of tables that are sitting back to back or next to each other. But there's plenty of space regardless. They have a bar so you can order drinks. I don't think it's a full bottle situation but they definitely have liquor so if you're into that for brunch then this would be a good spot. The food was good, I got the beef wrap and the chicken omelette. Both of them were amazing. I had the green chili sauce cover them, super solid. Really flavorful! And if the other things that I would have tried if I had a time, but like I said I was on a lunch break. But so far they did not miss! read more

The Morning Charcuterie which was such a fun starter, so good with so much flavor, and..and so much flavor. We got the Santos Jr. toast for even more of that Nova Lox. I got the Signature Slow Roasted Red Beef Benedict and the brother got the Green Chili Pork Benedict the daughter got the Green Chili Omelette Con Pollo, and the niece Kate's toast with a side of hashbrowns onion and cheese. I've been here twice now and both times a great experience! The service is fast, attentive and friendly. The second time I came we sat outside to enjoy the Mountain Views that Laveen has to offer. They provided this little device to put on the table to keep flies away. I've never seen it anywhere else before, but it is completely effective! Breakfast for 4 here a few days ago. We didn't have reservations, but they were able to seat us right away. Later arrivals were not so lucky, seating is limited. It is located in a strip mall, so plenty of parking. Very eclectic and creative menu - never seen bone marrow bruschetta before so of course we had to order it, and it did not disappoint! I had the chef's favorite eggs (see photo). The beef was so tender and flavorful, and went really well with the eggs and corn meal patty beneath it all to soak up the juices. The potatoes are excellent, but it was just too much, I could not finish them all. Love this place. I would be there all the time if they opened a location in Tucson :-) read more

Came here for the first time since it was recommended to our family. When we first arrived they were very busy so we decided to sit outside. I ordered the Alu's Chicken Sandwich and my partner ordered Jr's Favorite Green Chip Skillet. When the food was first brought out I was surprised to see how simple the sandwich was the menu states "coleslaw with a kick of Almuerzo papas" so I thought it would come with both items mentioned. The waitress clarified when asked that it was either one, not both. When eating the potatoes I noticed a couple of them were rotten I let the waitress know but nothing was done about it she only apologized and said she would let the kitchen know.
