So disappointed. Came in for valentines brunch with my son and boyfriend & we're sat fairly quickly (granted it wasn't that packed) and I was really looking forward to it!! Menu looked delicious and I was ready for the grits and mimosa flight. Sadly... we sat there for 30 minutes without a single person coming to acknowledge us or even bring waters. Tables immediately next to us on both sides had wait staff at them, but we did not. Another table of two that was sat significantly after us had waters and their orders taken immediately. Decided to use the restroom to give them a bit more time to get it together, and still nothing. The women's bathroom was also completely out of toilet paper and paper towels at 11am. Good brunch place with a bit of a fusion of Mexican and soul food. I had a breakfast scramble which was a bit like chilaquiles with scrambled egg, sausage, and potatoes all mixed in a skillet. Very good and hearty. I couldn't finish and took about 1/3 home to finish the next morning. My daughter had the full chilaquiles and loved it as well. DJ playing on a Saturday morning a little loud for my taste. Someone coming to the table trying to sell taking photos seemed a little out of place and time on a Saturday morning. I'm not sure if it was just on the day I went or if it's the norm, but this was definitely a younger crowd. Me and my wife were seated as soon as we walked in. They had a DJ and then also there was karaoke going on as well. The food looked really good, even though we did not order any, we just came for the vibes and drinks. Not sure what my breakfast special was called but it came with fried catfish (that looked like chicken strips) not sure if it was really catfish w/ all the breading but it was tasty. My plate also came with eggs, home potatoes (which I got toast instead) and 2wedges of French toast which I took home due to all the carbs. We were in the area on a weekday morning and decided to stop by, since we had always wanted to try out Brunch House. Upon arriving, we were met at the door by the hostess/server, who allowed us to seat ourselves. Our server was very friendly. I told her that I was torn between a couple of their options for grits. She was happy to discuss the menu, had good knowledge, and even made recommendations. Ultimately, we decided to go with the Fried Salmon and Grits, along with the Pancake Tacos. My Salmon and Grits were very delicious. My grits were hot and had the perfect texture. My Salmon bites were good quality cuts, seasoned well and perfectly fried. The portion was just the right size for someone like myself who appreciates being satiated, without the feeling of having overeaten. The Pancake Tacos tasted as you would expect. A nice fluffy, folded buttermilk pancake, with an egg fried over hard, a strip of savory bacon and maple syrup to drizzle on top. It was a great combination of sweet & savory flavors. I enjoyed my Salmon & Grits so much that I asked to speak with the Chef, so I could personally share my feedback and gratitude, to which he graciously accepted. My husband and I were so excited to give this place a try. We're big brunch fans and will happily and frequently drop $100 on a good meal. We LOVE supporting local businesses and when we rolled up it was such a great vibe. It reminded me of Hash Kitchen with the music and the bar set up, and it was so great that it was in Laveen. We got seated fairly quickly, and when the wait staff came she popped in on a corner and was like "oh did you guys want to order yet?" She seemed frazzled that she didn't have paper menus but we told her we were super comfortable with the QR Code. We were remarkably disappointed at the quality of food as well as the amount. The presentation was beautiful, but didn't cover up the fact that they charged $16 for two pieces of Wonderbread toast cut in half. My chicken and waffles was pretty okay, but it didn't come with syrup, butter, and the waitress never came back to even fill up our empty waters or coffee let alone to bring us hot sauce or anything else. My fried chicken breasts were 2 small pieces of chicken tenders. Very good, but for $16 you can throw on an extra tender lol The side of bacon is $5, and it's literally the thinnest Walmart bacon. And they give you two slices. When it came time for the check they didn't bring an itemized receipt or let me look at it, she just said "cash or card?" I had to specifically ask. All in all, we spent $60 and left still hungry. I also really dislike places that charge automatic gratuity for tables of 6. Especially when we didn't receive great, let alone good service. If you have good service, people will pay. But it's unethical to charge and then provide terrible service. Altogether super bummed, was hoping to have a place closer to go to. But looks like we'll still be trekking out to PHX or Chandler. As I said, price for us really isn't the issue. It's the poor service and quality and quantity of food.
