I've exclusively stayed at Hilton properties for years because the diamond status and all the perks that you get but let me tell you what this property offered by Marriott was top-notch. This probably will be my go to when I'm in the Austin area. The hotel is priced fair and you get a lot of bang for your buck. For one the bed is super comfy, also the AC is ice cold. The AC was so cold. I almost had to turn it off at night, which is rare. I will also add this Hilton properties typically have serious AC issues. I stay at a lot of Hilton properties in one or two out of five states there's an AC issue. This AC blows super ice cold. It was so comfortable all night. Also, the customer service is great. The people that work the front desk are very helpful and have a great attitude. Lastly, they offered you a nice breakfast sandwich to go for the road. It was actually quite good. I stayed here for a night in town for a wedding. For our initial king room, the deadbolt popped out and would not allow the door to close. The receptionist came up quickly to assess the room and offered to move us to another for additional security. Thankfully it was right next door (placed in a double queen room). The rooms were clean through the shower areas could use some additional cleaning. The bed was comfortable. They had a bar that was open in the lobby until 12am. Check in and check out was quick and straight forward. It is located near the highway and allowed easy access to stores nearby. I would stay here again. read more

We had a one night stay here. Located close to IH 35 with modern decor like the Alofts from previous stays. Open and spacious Lobby and Bar area. Full Bar with a Short Bar food menu. Happy Hour specials were good. We had a spacious Double Queen Bed room. Comfortable Beds and a view of the Highway. (Didn't hear the cars though) Fitness room was comprehensive with newer Cardio equipment. Liked the pool area that included a lounge area with Umbrellas. Check-in was seamless and service was friendly. A good representation of a solid and consistent Marriott chain. read more

This review is based solely on the customer service. We were scheduled to stay Aug 15-17, I unfortunately was hospitalized for two weeks and could no longer go on the trip. I called 2 days before to see if I could cancel and they refused. They directed me to Priceline, and Priceline directed me to aloft. It was just an endless circle that went no where. I'm a huge Marriot bonvoy girl! So I love it when I stay at a Marriott brand and it meets or exceeds my expectations. Hotel looks new and thevfront ladies were super sweet!. Room was clean and the WXYZ bar was fun with jumbo Jenga , pool tables and more! Read several reviews about it not being safe and so on. I would say walking safe NO however Uber $8 to get to the middle of congress which we had an Amazing time. Definitely worth the stay! read more

Stayed at Aloft for 2 nights, situated in the middle of Austin downtown, the location was very central and close to nice restaurants and our co-working space. The check-in process was seamless, located on the 2nd floor, the first floor has a restaurant (Caroline) and a coffee shop. On the 2nd floor, there is a "rooftop" bar. I was puzzled as usually rooftop means the highest floor, however in this case, it is on the 2nd floor. With my Marriott status, they did upgrade me to a higher floor, my room was on the 27th floor with open city views of Austin. The room was very basic, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and hand soap. Also 2 free bottles of water was offered, which I like. No extra amenities were provided. Overall, it was a nice and basic stay. read more

Staff is nice, the property is in an area going through gentrification, hell that's most of Austin though. There's a homeless encampment across the street so make sure you definitely take out anything valuable and remove any temptation for petty crime. There's good food nearby in the hideaway across the freeway. The hotel itself doesn't serve any warm meals for dinner (thumbs down emoji). The bar does have a skilled master of mixology most nights, so bonus there. Found the bed to be extremely comfortable Easy access to downtown Austin and to the airport If they had a full menu for dinner I'd buy up the stars, but overall it's a great convenient location read more

Very clean. Fun vibe in the lobby. We missed getting our room clean while we were there, but not sure if that was our fault or theirs and it wasn't a huge deal. I liked this hotel, it was ok. I'm very loyal to Marriott every time I travel. The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel was very new. The only thing I was not crazy about was the Happy Hour menu. I get it, it's only $5 so very cheap. I just wished they had bags for when you ordered stuff to go. I had to make two trips if I got drinks and food. Also one time they changed the trash in my room and left bits of trash all down the hallway for a couple days. That was a little careless. read more

Easily accessible hotel just off interstate, but not a great location to hang out and walk around. We had a car, and parked on site so we could go anywhere in South Austin with ease. I came here for the power outage 2/23. When I checked in the line was long and there was only one person actually checking in people and another on the phone. When I got to the desk they were rushed. There is nothing for free. Cheerios and milk was $4. The menu at the x y z was good but overpriced for what you got. Fish tacos only had two small pieces of fish. It was mostly filler that would be thrown away. Maid service only comes every other day. At this price point they should be there everyday. It has a good hangout area with pool tables, tables etc the rooms are small but niche. Glad I was able to find it short notice but I would look elsewhere for something. read more

Really enjoyed my stay at this Aloft. Easy access to every event I was attending, as well as cool and comfortable rooms. It was a little loud in my hall, but I go to bed fairly early so I didn't mind too much. I stepped downstairs for a quick bite and drink and the bartender, I believe her name was Keely, took great care of me and was so nice! She made sure everything was correct in my orders and made great conversation keeping me entertained, she definitely knows her stuff. I will absolutely be staying again! read more

The Aloft South is my preferred hotel when I'm coming into town. For me, it's conveniently located and easy to access. The well-appointed rooms have a nice layout and maximize the space. I really like swivel mounts for the TVs. The lounge downstairs serves cocktails, beer, and a limited menu. It's a nice spot for a quick bite or to relax with a drink. read more

Located 15 min from downtown on a car. Right off the highway. The hotel is really clean and new. I wanted to stay far away from the noise, so this was perfect. It's like staying at a hostel in Europe in the middle of a snowstorm in a scary movie. No one is there. No one cares. There is zero service. Cool updated rooms in a new hotel but between being located next to a slum area and the fact the managers don't return calls or emails (brought a large group with several rooms) I would not stay here again. 3 weeks later and Nisha the GM has dodged my emails and calls and has not followed through on the planner points (Bonvoy rewards) for the large group I brought them. read more

The Aloft South Austin is a brand new addition to the Marriott fleet. It could be better. The lobby is sparse and a bit confusing by the front desk appearance. It looks like a temporary, make-shift desk, but I was told that it is permanent. The room; it looks and feels like Motel 6 with a big screen HDTV. The rooms are small, minimally furnished, (the two-drawer chest of drawers is about the size of a couple of stacked suitcases), the cool little sitting nook is unusable for much of anything and there is no closet...just a cool little rod to hold clothes over the convenient drawer-safe mounted on the floor. There was a very nice, glass-fronted refrigerator and the shower was first rate. The bed was very comfortable. Safety: it is a significant problem. Access from the south-bound access road for IH35 shows up abruptly and is a sharp turn leaving you vulnerable to speeding frontage road traffic. On top of that, wending you way in and out of the IH35 and TX290 interchange is daunting if you are not pretty familiar with the layout. (I was not!) Free Breakfast: Nope. Staff: They were very nice, but since there are few amenities, they seemed to have little to do. They will microwave the $5-9 frozen waffles and burritos for you, though. Noise: Yes. Rooms on the east side of the hotel face IH35, TX290 interchange. Very noisy. Bring the ear plugs. Summary: Much better lodging nearby for less money, or similar lodging available nearby for a lot less money. I won't be a return customer for Aloft hotels. read more

They don't offer bottle water daily like their location in Round Rock. Also, I always bring my own pillow and they switched my nice pillow case with one of their rough hotel ones. They do have a nice bar area and a great bar tender. Lots of homelessness around the hotel even though they have security at night. read more
