Decided to try Aloha Express on a whim. It wasn't bad but Im not certain that I'll go back. The bbq meats were extremely sweet and it made it kind of off putting. I did enjoy the mac salad and rice and worked to mix the rice in with the meat to tone down the sweetness. This did help somewhat. I was very satisfied with the portions provided for the cost as well. read more

Ok I can't give a 3 1/2 stars. So I rounded up only because the food taste was real good. My first visit & the workers there are GREAT! Tues 8/27 5:30 ish .. the ordering experience was relaxed and even though I can tell the girl was new she did her best to answer any And all questions. So we ordered 4 meals a pineapple smoothie and shaved ice for after the meal (thank you restaurant.com for the $25 off $50!). BUT after the order there is really limited seating. The place wasn't packed but with way the tables were arranged & the MAIN FACT they didn't have extra chairs to place around the table. So we squeezed around the small table.. food was ordered and it was served in Foam take out containers for dine in.. I'm not a tree hugger but not healthy for the environment.. lots of trash (didn't affect my rating but just a personal preference). Food looked great except for the fact that there was a very noticeable hair (beard or side burn) in my sons island fish plate sitting right on top the bright white rice. The worker took it back (embarrassed but didn't apologize) she brought out a new plate minus the hair. Suprising enough no manager or supervisor came out to maybe offer a free shaved ice? Or anything?! Any how, good food, the staff tries, so I couldn't give them a three or anything less.. hope they can pull it all together and figure out better seating arrangements maybe just extra chairs on stand by??? read more

My husband asked me to stop by and pick up some dinner. He said he called, placed order & it's under his name and he told them I would be picking it up. I walked in and was greeted just fine but then I walked up to the counter and the young gentleman asked me who my order was for. He couldn't find the order so.. First they had the name completely wrong second the order was completely wrong with extra items and then a young lady asked what the order was, was extremely rude even talking to her co worker "well you should know". My husband ordered a mini meal of chicken teriyaki +spam and said that she wasn't even paying full attention to him over the phone. The order that she took was a full chicken Katsu a chicken teriyaki bowl & spam. Like how???? After realizing she was wrong, Alejandra had the manager come override the change of order which I was thankful for. They were apologetic after the fact. I understand that it probably was one of the last orders and they wanted to go home so I didn't go back in to change but very unacceptable. Went in for the first time and it was pretty cool and fun, they greeted everyone with an "Aloha" and a farewell with "Mahalo" Found the Menu pretty traditional, that's what I was looking for. It was my son's first time ever having a hawaiian mixed plate and he loved it, the chicken plate he had was flavorful, was looking for katsu sauce though. I had the shortrib plate and it was good, just as I remembered from Hawaii. Had to refrain from gettin spam musubi, plenty of food already. Branding was pretty cool, want it for my work. I'll have to go back next time I'm in Visalia and try out the smoothies or ramen. read more

I love this place! Food is great, and drinks are amazing! During the start of the pandemic I chose to eat out only at local or mom and pop places to support their business. When I got to try this place they were giving two individually wrapped face masks with our to-go orders and a free cookie! Such a nice gesture for a small business. I'm so glad to have a local Hawaiian cuisine option, and Aloha Express does not disappoint! Their food is delicious, and their service is awesome, fast, and friendly! I have gone with my family three times for dinner so far, and I've loved everything we've ordered. The pineapple smoothie is divine, and the shaved ice is amazing! We've tried the chicken combo plates, the short ribs, and the katsu chicken. Everything is super yummy, and we keep talking about what we want to try in the future. We've never had to wait long, and there was even hula dancing when we went on a Friday. The staff always greets you with, "Aloha," and "Mahalo" when you leave. The staff has given my daughters leis which they think is extra special. The bathrooms are always super clean. I honestly can't say enough good things about this restaurant! Finally, visalia has its own Hawaiian style restaurant back...again. Ironically, this new Aloha sits in the same space the old failed Hawaiian place was. The food is good. The prices seem right. The portions are fair for the price. The family and I have been here several times to dine in, but I see lots of people getting their food to go as well. We've sampled the shrimp appetizer, the potstickers, multiple combo plates, the masubi, and the rice bowls...and while nothing is gourmet, everything has come out hot and tasty. There are two things that bother me and my wife...the smoke that seems to accumulate inside the restaurant, and the "hostess" woman that comes around the dining room. Now, I'm NOT knocking the lady herself, she's quite nice...but she's interrupted me and my family multiple times when we're trying to eat and have our own conversation. She stops by, does a dance sometimes, says some Hawaiian words, and does some education on the islands. Great. Thanks. I'm actually here to eat. I'm not trying to be mean, but her presence will keep me from coming back. It's just weird. A simple "how is everything?" Would be just fine, and not a 5 minute chat while my food cools off. Otherwise , the place is great. Also, they seem so spend a whole lot of extra money on their plastic cups, to go containers, and bags. Hope that doesn't prevent them from being successful. Aloha Express exceeds all my expectations. For sure, my new favorite restaurant within reasonable distance. I'm an avid fan of boba, and the deep flavor of their milk tea and chewy boba is unparalleled by any other boba drink place I've been to in Visalia. The Lemon Passionfruit drink is super refreshing with a tropical vibe. Every menu item is so uniquely delicious, and I can't wait to try everything! Something really cool is that their fruit smoothies actually come in that fruit, so I got my pineapple smoothie in a pineapple. Portions are large enough to share, so I can't wait to bring friends here and hang out over shaved ice in summer (especially with Visalia's humid summer heat). The decor and environment inside are an aesthetic, cute and friendly. The employees are very welcoming with their greetings as soon I walk through the door. They offer WiFi as well, so it's the perfect study/hangout/gathering place. I'll definitely be making many more future visits! read more

My husband and I came here for an early lunch Friday afternoon. It was fairly busy and the cashiers greeted us with a friendly "aloha!" We ordered our food and drinks. I decided on the bbq beef plate and my husband ordered the chicken katsu plate. They brought our drinks fairly fast. Mine was the passion fruit tea and hubby got the pineapple smoothie. His was beyond delicious! My husband loved his lunch and mine was very tasty. The beef was trimmed of most of the fat and had a wonderfully subtly sweet bbq flavor. The macaroni salad was probably the very best I've ever had aside from my aunts who make a mean Mac salad. They do not skimp on portion sizes either. Totally worth the price. As we were leaving the cashiers made sure to yell " mahalo" to us. The management really puts forth great effort to make sure that customer service is a top priority and it shows. You don't always see that when dining out these days. We are looking forward to enjoying many more meals here in the future. read more

The first week when it opened we tried their chicken bbq and their chicken Katsu combos. I honestly didn't like their rice at all. The other Hawaiian joints that I've had always uses the actual sushi rice for their rice plates but this place uses some other kind of rice that wasn't a sushi rice. This place, they used like some other kind of rice that was super hard and hard to swallow. Their Mac salad was alright but it was much tastier than their rice. So our second visit we decided not to get the rice and instead got double Mac salad. We also tried their spam and beef teriyaki rice wraps, it was alright nothing to parade about. But the best part is their passion fruity drinks so good! You gotta try their drinks! I gave this place a 3 star cuz I didn't like their rice but other items are pretty decent. I have yet to try their beef bbq but will do next time. Give this place a try, maybe your taste buds are better than mine? read more

I haven't had a lot of Hawaiian food that I thought very highly of but this establishment has been great both times I have come. Everyone in my party both times was thoroughly satisfied. The prices are very reasonable and I appreciate that the don't do straws for their cups. The owner is super friendly and keeps the place very clean. On top of their chicken, beef and rice being very tasty, their smoothies are really good and made with actual ripe fruit which sets them above the rest. I have never been to Hawaii to compare the flavors at this restaurant but I am making myself hungry thinking about the food here. Definitely worth making a visit. read more
