I don't usually leave bad reviews, but my recent experience was frustrating enough to warrant one. The service at this restaurant was disappointing from start to finish. We asked our server to cancel a food item shortly after ordering -- it was something small, just $7.99 -- but they completely ignored the request and were fighting with me to pay for what I ordered. When the item came out anyway, we reminded them that we had asked to cancel it. Instead of apologizing or fixing the issue, the server just wouldn't let it go. No effort was made to make it right. It's not about the $7.99 -- it's about the lack of care or accountability. Good customer service means listening and not making guests feel like an inconvenience. I canceled my order completely, which, with everything else that I added, was well over $60. I was so appalled by the way I was treated, even willing to pay over $60 for lunch, that I just left. We won't be returning. Conveniently the manager was "on vacation." What a load of $&@! If you want to be treated like an inconvenience and be talked about poorly in a different language, this is the place for you. read more

Yummy. Great portions they really packed the box and fresh ingredients. I visited Victoria Day around 5pm it was quite busy with foot traffic as well as online orders. It was about a 15 min wait after placing your order. I got a custom bowl and paid extra for two proteins, salmon and beef. Both tasted delicious. The salmon was a little too fresh I would of preferred of it was marinated or tossed in the sauces prior to. Speaking of sauces the Mango sauce is really good!!!!!!!!! I also tried the smell lemonade. It was good and refreshing not too sweet which I appreciate. If you like your meal overpowered by rice, this is the right place to go. We got a few poke bowls from here, the choices of toppings is sad.. lettuce is considered a topping.. and you gotta pay extra after a certain amount. The spicy mayo just tastes like Sriracha sauce. The fish was actually pretty decent, but it was sad that the rice was so hot because by the time we were home (20min), the fish was warm. Overall, the rice overpowered everything in taste and normally, I don't put soy sauce on my poke bowls, but I had to put 3 packets on. I don't think I'm coming back. read more

My expectations have been exceeded with this place! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine "hellos" and a helpful staff that made great recommendations based on the fact that it was my first time there. I had the Aloha Classic Poke Bowl and it was delicious. Arguable one of the best poke bowls I've ever had! The portions were generous, ingredients were fresh, and overall value for my money was amazing. Caught a glimpse of Aloha Poke as a rising star in the 'hot and new' feature of Yelps home page the other day and decided to take a trip by for a healthier new year lunch option. It's definitely new but more warm IMHO than hot. It appears to be either in an extended soft opening phase or they're going for an extremely minimalist approach to design and decor - service counter, tables and chairs, one sign that says company name and some yet to be unboxed television sets (which I assume will be hung here soon). Decor for me really doesn't make a difference if the food is going to stand out and with the massive menu of ingredients and pre-set bowl combinations, as well as steps on how to create your own bowl, I assumed I'd be in for a treat! I'm not aficionado on pole but I know what's good, and what's bad. And I know value for money. Aloha kinda lives on the border of all of these, not really striking me as remarkable but certainly not bad. They only offer one size of bowl and it's comparable to a small at other poke shops. I went with the pre-set tuna and wasabi mayo option and found that for the lofty price you got very little protein (likely pre measured to the gram) and a lot of filler. The filler in this dish was shredded iceberg lettuce which I was not a fan of. So many other quality ingredients out there and they've elected to go with the 'tap water' of vegetables - bland, tasteless and boring. I expected a bit more from a bowl of poke tbh. This place is ridiculous! I walked in said hello and no one acknowledged my hello. Then one of the ladies told me to grab a paper and pen and record what I want on a paper. I thought you could add whatever you want in your poke. They charge you for lettuce how CHEAP! Basically you get a big big rice bowl and 5 pieces of salmon and that would be $19 please don't go here. On top of all the customer service was terrible, super unfriendly and the 3 ladies were talking in their language and I'm all good with that but looking at me and laughing that's a big NO! I've had Aloha Poke at least a dozen times by now, and I'm updating my review to state that the quality and service is not as good as it once was. For all my previous poke bowl orders, I'd ask them to pre-marinate the protein (salmon is my go-to) before adding it to the bowl. They do not pre-marinate any of their proteins, like other poke bowl places do, so it's plain when added to the bowl and always lacking in flavour. The whole bowl is just very plain without being pre-marinated, even with the sauces they top off the bowl with. I've never had an issue on any walk-in or Ubereats order when requesting a simple pre-marination of the protein. It's a very simple request basically asking for some extra sauce. They also don't even provide enough of their protein in their poke bowls, in comparison to other poke bowl spots as many other reviews and customers have stated. However, for my last two poke bowl orders, they suddenly refused to do so or to even remove and change one topping on their signature bowls. I'm allergic to red onions, and asked for anything else to replace it in their Cali Bowl, and they replied with "then don't order this bowl, build your own." As a returning customer, this overall visit just left me with a negative impression. So I guess they've changed the way they prepare their bowls. The customer service during this last visit was just sub-par and off putting. From now on, I'll be going back to poke bowl spots farther away either downtown and in Markham instead. read more

I'm just going to start by saying that this was such a great meal! I left feeling sufficiently full, and I was so happy because of how deliciously satisfying this Poke was. They have perfectly balanced flavours in everything I tried, and all items on the menu are so visually pleasing and colourful! I almost didn't want to eat it, it was so pretty, haha. Decided to try something new. Used other Yelp reviews to find something different and I hit the jackpot. We came here on a Saturday night at 6:30. I've never had poke before and was looking forward to trying it out. My daughter and I chose the Signature Aloha Classic. It comes with salmon, avo, sweetcorn, come cucumber, red onion, tobiko (fish eggs) tempura bits spicy mayo and Unami sauce. It was really delicious served on your choice of either white rice, purple rice or salad. We both chose the purple rice. Honestly so tasty I am already looking forward to my return. My husband ordered the Kimchi Beef which comes with beef, endamame, sweetcorn, bell pepper, red onions and sesame ginger dressing. He also went with the purple rice. He said he "found it a little bland but it was filling". Having read reviews before we came I asked for the salmon to be marinated before it was added to our food. Pro tip: Build your own bowl. Ordered a beef and chicken custom bowl and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was much better with the veggies and purple rice than the beef, but both were still good. The cucumber didn't really work with the bowl I got, but being a custom bowl, that was my fault. Other veggies ordered include seaweed salad, kimchi, pickled radish, and shiitake mushrooms. All four went good with the poke bowl. For crunch I ordered the lotus chips and the tempura bits, and they will likely be my go to unless I choose to go with a salmon and tuna bowl one day. Speaking of salmon and tuna, my brother ordered that and was very happy with his order. We have both admitted to pondering another order less than 48 hours later. Ordered from skip so the protein was colder than hoped, but still warm enough to devour. Good, very filling meal that is recommended for anyone that likes Poke, or Bimibap. I am really torn about this place as I was so excited to get a restaurant selling poke bowls in Woodbridge! However, for a place that should scream tropical and Hawaii, the location itself is EXTREMELY minimalist, with absolutely no decor except the menu signage. The service was not the most friendly I've had considering it's a new open but it was late on a Thursday night and almost closing time. The food itself tasted fresh, which is obviously crucial for anyplace selling raw fish. The bowls come in one size and are on the pricey side for the amount of protein you get (many reviews have mentioned this). There is also a good variety of toppings and sauces to go with your bowl. Finally a poke place in Vaughan! Just for that it's 4 star deserving unfortunately it only a 3.5. Seriously though the poke here is pretty ok and Ill tell you why. The selection is good and the food is fresh. The atmosphere is bright, clean, and plentiful parking. My only complaint about this place is the protein is pretty skimpy. For the price of the bowl there should be more protein. When you compare to other locations such as Poke Guys this place becomes way overpriced. Would be worth it just to 407 over to Poke Guys and still come out ontop with the extra protein. It is definitely worth a try as there are literally no similar options in the area. Its a good new option in the area just hope they can improve based on similar feedback from other yelpers, would definitely put them at a 4 star. read more

Judging from the reviews below this place is brand new and I was pretty impressed. I got a build your own poke bowl and enjoyed everything. I mixed white and purple rice with salmon, kimchi, seaweed salad, and tobiko topped with ginger sesame + spicy mayo sauce. They had a good variety of ingredients to choose from, and the workers made recommendations as to what complements what too. If you don't want to build your own they also have a menu with set poke bowls that have prearranged toppings (price is pretty much the same as build your own). Like all poke places, it's more fast food style but there is some table seating if you want to eat there. Although it is fast food style, the service was great, as I was greeted right away and the worker even came to my table to check on me after I had started eating. The only critique I have is that I wish they had been a bit more generous with their protein portions, but other than that this is a solid place to go! The store smelled like cigarette smoke. The person working there did not wear gloves or wash his hands before preparing the food. There were three of us, and we ordered the wasabi tuna first. He had to look at a piece of paper of instructions to make the bowl, and put a small spoon of tuna which was not marinated. When we stated that other places gave much more fish, he hesitated and said that's all they're allowed to give. Atmosphere is clean and bright but cant say its warm, cozy or screams "come in" I decided to customize my own bowl as I didnt really care for the set salmon bowl because I felt you got more ingredients/choices with the customized one for about the same price. The bowl in itself was really big and filling, the toppings were plentiful but the salmon wasn't as flavourful as Ive had from other places. The salmon was fresh though! This place is great!! High quality, FRESH ingredients and you definitely get what you pay for. The portions are more than generous and keep you satisfied for hours on end. The only reason why I didn't give 5 stars is because one of the men that served me is a complete and utter jerk. He's rude, looked at me like I was scum, and I don't believe speaking in another language in front of the customer is appropriate. The nicest owner! I needed to use the bathroom for my 8 month old baby. I walked into Aloha Poke and the owner was extremely gracious to let me use his bathroom. Given that I had a baby, he was extra compassionate and understanding. As a thank you, I wanted to buy a drink, however, he insisted that I didn't have to buy anything.
