Stopped by Earl's during happy hour on the weekend for a late lunch. Got the large clam chowder which came with a slice of buttered bread. I got the large sized bowl which was listed as an appetizer. I wasn't feeling too hungry so this was just enough for me. They had a happy hour menu which had cocktails and some food on discount as well. The only thing is they weren't able to get a large table for us (we were a group of 8) so we were seated in a booth and grabbed extra high chairs. If you are coming with a large group it's better off making a reservation in advance. This was a more spontaneous walk in experience for us so I understand they might not be able to accommodate large groups right away. read more

This was my second time visiting this location. It is in the Colossus Plaza up by Highway 7 and Weston. Food (3.75/5) - menu has good variety of mainstream and asian inspired options. Noticed they added some interesting new items to the menu like Bimbimbap and Beef Oshi Press. - Szechuan Shrimp + Pork Dumplings - this was pretty good... nice mix of flavour and spice... dumplings cooked well and shrimp and pork was cooked well. I would order again. - Seafood Platter - this was not bad but nothing special. All of the items were fresh... just nothing really stood out about them. Oysters were average, Lobster, tataki, maki, shrimp also average. I have also had the Spinach & 3 Cheese dip which is worth trying... and the oven roasted salmon is not bad. Ok nobody told me this location was prime location for LAWYERS??? So I came severely underdressed. Oops. I've heard a lot of great things about earls and their sustainability efforts - I've been wanting to visit on several occasions and was surprised by the price points. It seemed that our server was managing more tables than I'd expect, so I don't fault them for this. While our food tasted good overall, considering the prices, I found it a tad disappointing. The truffle tortellini had too much lemon, which masked the truffle flavour. My dining companion said they've had the pasta at this location before, and the taste was better. My husband requested we return to Earls for his birthday. Since he tends to work late and I see they have a late Happy Hour from 9PM-11PM, I booked us for 9. I used Open Table since no one still picks up the phone (not when I call, at least.) In the notes, I mentioned it would be to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived, the hostess checked us in and had someone escort us to a table. At first, I noticed a whole bunch of "Reserved" 2-person tables and wondered why we kept heading into the restaurant. Turns out we were given one of the super comfy and cozy booths along a far wall with a window view. Super! Only problems are that the light is so dim you can barely read the menu or, if you're a meat eater, who you're eating when your food arrives. Also, we found the music a tad too loud, especially given that the other end of the restaurant where the bar is, is so far away that there's no need to subject the other end of the restaurant to that volume. Kinda defeats the purpose of the cozy booth. I checked out the Happy Hour menu and ordered a classic Lime Margarita. Birthday boy ordered a fancy coconut lime version. When the drinks arrived, I saw that mine was served in Don Julio ceramic glass, so I told the server that I ordered a classic and wouldn't know the difference between Don Julio or any other tequila mixed with the lime. She sort of nodded along and said something to the extent of, it's fine (can't remember verbatim) but I just figured fine, if this thing is not the Happy Hour classic I ordered, I'll deal with that when the bill comes. For dinner, my husband ordered a 9oz sirloin steak with potatoes and veg medley, and I opted to try their chicken biryani. The food was great all around - the steak was properly cooked to order, the mashed potatoes were delicious (topped with super finely shredded fry garnish), and the vegetables were not overcooked. My biryani, which the server did mention when I placed the order was an Earls adaptation as opposed to authentic, was also absolutely delicious. The chicken was tender, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the gravy tasted pretty close to authentic, although they were served side by side in the metal serving bowl. Our food was hot and stayed that way till we finished. The manager came over to our table to wish my husband happy birthday and enquire whether we wanted anything special in particular with our meal. We didn't take him up on anything (although the prosecco suggestion piqued my interest), figuring we'd wait till we finished eating. We were so full when we did that we decided to check out; however, turns out the prosecco came to us on the house, which was a lovely gesture. It was also what saved me from having to have the bill corrected for the $14 Don Julio margarita I didn't order instead of the $10 classic cuz I certainly couldn't be bothered to go through a correction when we were just treated to complementary prosecco. Having said that, it's the kind of mistake you hate to be surprised with at the end of your meal. Mistakes notwithstanding, and some minor adjustments with lighting and volume, easily 5 stars. I asked to confirm, and my server told me no it didn't. So my friend and I paid extra for garlic bread just ti end up getting bread with our dish too?? My dad is a vegetarian, and I think Earl's does a great job catering to vegetarian/vegan crowd. My dad ordered the Vegan Hunan Kung Pao which he loved, he orders this dish every time and always enjoys it. We also ordered the Cajun Oven Roasted Salmon, Cajun Blackened Chicken, and Thai Chicken Curry Bowl. All these dishes were very flavourful and the portions were generous. The only disappointment of the night was the dessert. I remember Earl's having a much better dessert menu in the past, but they only had 3 options, 2 types of cheesecake and a toffee pudding. We ordered the Peanut Butter + Chocolate Cheesecake and the NYC Cheesecake, and was not very happy with either one. The peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake tasted too chocolatey for me and the NYC cheesecake had what I believed was a raspberry sauce that was way too sour! I'm not really a fan of negative reviews but this visit requires one. Came here for St Paddy's day recently on the patio. Experience for the evening I would say was quite disappointing. First of all the dynamite sushi roll tasted like it was prepared at 2:00pm about five hours earlier. The rice textured was just not right. Rice texture was more firm and seemed dried out. For a $17 roll this is unacceptable. Second the spinach dip was just meh. Service from our server was painstakingly slow as we wanted to keep ordering drinks and had to flag him down a few times. Also the Guinness + Earls ale was quite a bit on the flat side. Server never asked us how things were. Our bill was over $120 for the evening and I left feeling it was not a good experience nor good value. Buyers remorse. I have fond memories of Earls growing up in Western Canada loved it. My husband ordered a steak and specifically asked for a medium-rare cook. Unfortunately when the steak came it wasn't medium-rare, it was more well done. So we addressed it with the waitress, who notified us that that is their version of a medium-rare and kept arguing that Earl's medium rare is was you see. As a steak connoisseur and an avid steak consumer in this city, I proceeded to tell her that she should frequent other restaurants to familiarize herself with what a medium rare steak is. The manager came shortly after and apologize for the service but did not bring a new steak. Once we were all done our meals, the waitress I didn't come by to check on us after dropping the meals. We had to get one of the waiters to get our bill. I was truly disappointed but the service I got especially when I was supposed to be a great occasion. Came here for lunch today and tried out a couple of things. Hostess was friendly and warm at the door and the decor of the restaurant was pretty nice as well. It had some ambient lighting and it wasn't too loud so you can actually have pleasant conversation. We had the half a dozen oysters and truffle fries with gravy to start. The oyster was okay, nothing special but not bad either but the truffle fries were absolutely delicious, especially with the gravy sauce. However things went downhill after the starters. Once we finished the oysters, the sever went past our table multiple times and did not take the finished plate away. I would understand if it was busy but it was fairly empty and she was setting up utensils for empty booths before she finally took the plate away. For the mains, we ordered the filet mignon and one of their new dishes, steak with truffle tortellini. My partner asked for medium well for his filet mignon and I asked for medium rare for mine. His filet mignon was okay but my steak was with truffle tortellini was not good at all. The steak was well done and the tortellini was ...bland. Earls is another hot spot restaurant near colossus movie theatre. It can get extremely busy towards dinner time/game nights, and they don't take day of reservations. So - if you're going to spontaneously come in the day of, expect a bit of a wait time (20-30+ mins) for a table. I ordered the calamari for starters and I didn't really like it. It was super oily and even though it looked like there was a lot on the plate, there wasn't much actual calamari within the fried breading. I also wasn't a fan of the tzatziki sauce it came with - it didn't pair that great together. For my main I ordered the chicken tacos - they were ok but the chicken was tad over cooked which made it taste dry. I choose the garlic fries for the sides and again they were drowned in oil - It was so bad that I actually decided to send them back. Our waiter was nice and said I could choose another side - so I ordered the yam fries instead and they were a lot better. I shared a pitcher of sangria with my friend and it was really good - what would have make it better is if they had added fruit. The manger, short blond haired lady called us back saying we left something behind. When we returned she accused us of stealing their dollar store candle. This was so disrespectful and degrading. She did not ask the waiter just accused us. I went back in and called the waiter to the front with the manager and asked him in front of her and he confirmed that he removed it. This was all done at the front of the restaurant in front of other people. This was racial discrimination and point blank disgusting especially since we paid our bill of over $200. Thursday nights seem to be a bit of a party with all the live music. If you're coming to hang out it's great but for an overall dining experience it could be a bit of a damper. It seemed to be a bit worse than the last time I visited. Looking around every table seemed to have water except for us. We had to ask for it. The server was very zoned out, also didn't check on us much. What drove me nuts was the fact that she placed our cutlery on the dirty table. Even after we put it on a dirty plate she removed it once again and placed it on the table !! We asked for new cutlery which didn't seem to make her happy. What didn't make me happy was the fact that we were charged full price for the taco's even after requesting that we would like to wait the 5 minutes until the 9pm promotion started. But of course when it was time for the bill she was quite jolly because she obviously wanted a tip that she didn't deserve. The food however is where the stars come in! The Santa Fe salad was amazing! It was served with blackened chicken so if was healthy but also very satisfying. I've never had a great meal at any of the earls. This location was the most disappointing. Everytime I walk into this location I immediately walk back out. There's ways a weird smell in there. So this one time my friend made me go there.... They seem to be unorganized in there. It took a while for them find us and take the drink order. At first I thought the kitchen forgot, but apparently that's not the case. Talking about being cheap for a business of this size and price point? How much does those celery and carrot stick cost? This was a really nice patio area. Clean, beautiful, comfortable seating and a lot of space. We went on a weekday around 3pm. It was not busy at all. Appetizer: Yam Fries were delicious and fresh! Main Course: Southwest Vegetarian Burger was okay. Wish the bun wasn't overcooked as it took away from the taste. The bun was a tad bit too crunchy. We ordered the Santa Fe Salad with no chicken but rather more corn/beans and it was a large portion so me and my partner split it. This seemed like a good idea with the heavy burger we had (which we also split). All this was more than enough food for us and very filling! It is quite difficult to get reservations to this location, however, the food was delicious! The waiters were A little busy and we could tell they were trying to rush us. We really enjoyed the food and the ambiance of the patio though!! read more

The food here is reasonable, if you can manage with average service and a lot of noise. We had the steak frites and fish and chips. The fish was excellent. A little oily, but tasty nonetheless. I would have preferred a small New York steak, the usual fare for steak frites, but the tenderloin was decent and cooked as I ordered, although not all that flavourful. The fries were crispy, how I like them, but somewhat over cooked, so ketchup to the rescue of dried out fries. I get it's the holidays, and everyone is busy, but that doesn't excuse average service. Still waiting on the water refill that never arrived after asking for it the one time the waiter checked in before we were done. Oh, and my knife had a bar code on it. Weird. read more

"I'm so glad we came here at this time." Wait time/What time we arrived? We arrived at 9:30pm on a Friday night. It was a last minute decision so we didn't make any reservations. It was super poppin' in that plaza! I realized if we came any later then we wouldn't have gotten a seat. We got seated at the semi-circle booths on the side and I think that is the best seat in the house. Atmosphere? It is beautiful here. It's very upscale looking. It's only one floor and very open concept. It's dim and is a good mix between a sports bar, lounge, and fancy restaurant... if that makes sense. Staff/Service? The staff were so great. The manager kept walking around to make sure we were okay and the servers were very accessible/always walking around. Food? Okay so here's the deal. We didn't get anything on the actual menu. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that we happened to pop in during their happy hour. Between 3-6pm & 9pm-close is their happy hour. They have such cheap prices for their steaks, pizzas, tacos and fries, drinks, etc. We ordered the margarita pizza was good for $3.50 - can't really go wrong with that. The chicken tacos were just okay for around $9- I just didn't like the cilantro aftertaste. We got the garlic fries with gravy for $3. Lastly, we got the spinach dip for like $5. Everything was super cheap and it kinda blew our minds at how cheap it was considering how nice the interior was... it was a little confusing!
